An alternate universe in which when a person breaks someone's heart, it breaks a piece of our world, which results in fissures, valleys and cracks in the pavement.

Ruel Van Dijk: the biggest heartbreaker known to mankind. He has broken so many hearts by now that no one wants to date him at all. Everyone keeps their safe distance from him, knowing if they come across him, he'll wrap them in his heartbreaking nature and leave them crying.

Do you ever wonder how there are so many potholes, so many cracks in the road and on the side of the pavement? They appear when someone's heart breaks. And when you have a heartbreaker like Ruel around, potholes and cracks all around are a common thing to see.

On his regular sunday morning, Ruel is out for a jog. His jacket zipped all the way up and a bottle of water in his hand, Ruel is running in the park. Just as Ruel makes an appearance somewhere, people automatically distance themselves from him 6 feet apart. It's such a usual experience for Ruel now.

Ruel is running on the rocky pavement, and may I add, cracked pavement of the park. His lips are slightly parted, soft breathes escaping them. His forehead is glistening with sweat and his hair is sticking to the sides of his face. Ruel is entirely focused on reaching his daily goal of 4.8 km (3 miles). What he doesn't realise is when his foot gets stuck in one of the many cracks in the pavement, and he falls down.

A scream escapes his mouth when his body collides with the rocky pavement. And of course the other people don't like him at all, so no one comes for his help. Ruel's eyes are shut close tightly, a sharp pain shooting through his left leg.

"Oh my god are you okay?"

Ruel hears a voice. He doesn't even believe that the unknown person intends to talk to him, so he doesn't give them a reply.

"Uhm... are you okay sir?"

Ruel opens his eyes to see a girl looking at him lying on the ground with worry all over her face. Her eyebrows are stitched together, distorting her face.

"You're talking to me?" Ruel asks, pointing a finger to his own face.

The girl gives him a deadpanned look. "Who else will I be talking to when I am looking directly at you?"

"Me? You're talking to me?"

"Yes you, is there a problem? Should I leave you in this situation and go?"

"No don't leave me please! Help me."

The girl sighs and bends down, bringing herself to Ruel's level. Ruel, with her help, gets up and sits on the pavement, letting out a few occasional groans.

"Pull your sweats up and let me see if you have any sort of injury." The girl says. Ruel rolls up his sweats, to reveal a small bruise on his left knee, where it is bleeding. The girl drops her bag on the ground, which Ruel just notices, and pulls out a small kit from it. She opens it to reveal a small bottle of disinfectant, cotton swabs, bandages and a lot other first aid equipment.

She pours some disinfectant on a swab, making it moist, and then dabs it onto Ruel's knee. Ruel looks at her, and sees with how much focus she works on helping Ruel's injury. A few hair strands fall out in front of her eyes, accentuating the shape of her face. Ruel doesn't feel any sort of pain while she dabs the swab on his knee; all he feels is a unique feeling in himselves, allowing his eyes to soften up. Ruel's hand moves forward itself to push a strand of her hair behind her ear.

All around them people are talking in hushed voices, looking at the girl as if she is committing a crime. This incident evidently shows that the girl doesn't know about Ruel and the big heartbreaker he is.

"How can she get so close to him..."

"She's putting herself in lots of trouble..."

"We don't want more broken roads now do we..."

"Someone save her before she gets heartbroken..."

The girl gets up from the ground, all of her first aid treatment material in her bag. She lets a hand out for Ruel, who grabs onto it and gets up with her help. Both of them brush off the dust from their clothes.

"Thank you for the help." Ruel says, smiling at her. She smiles back at him.

"Of course, and I hope you're feeling better now."

"Yes, I think I'll be fine, it's just a small bruise."

The girl smiles at him one last time before turning around, her back towards him. She begins to walk away from him, but before she could exit the park, Ruel stops her.

"I didn't catch your name!" He yells. She turns around and walks in the reverse manner.

"It's y/n! What's yours?"

"I'm Ruel!"

"Nice to meet you Ruel!" And with that, y/n is out of the park, leaving Ruel smiling to himselves.
