An alternate universe in which two people, along with other passengers are on a daily train which is going back to the station. But, the train stops in the middle of nowhere for some reason.

Ruel sighs as he bends a little forward to see the train coming closer in the tunnel. It stops in front of him and the doors open. He walks inside along with some more passengers. He sits down and pops his AirPods in his ears. The music begins flowing in his ears. His gaze goes out to the window, watching the world whizz past away.

"Is this seat taken?"

Ruel pulls out his AirPod from his left ear and looks to see a girl.

"No."

Ruel scoots a little to make more space for her. She removes her bag from her shoulders and sits down.

"Thank you."

"No worries."

Ruel puts back his AirPod and continues to listen to the music. The noise of the whole world shuts out, and all he can hear is the calming music he put on. It puts him at peace instantly as his eyes shut close, tiredness of the day kicking in.

Ruel is about to doze off, when the train comes to a sudden halt. His eyes shoot open as he looks around himself to see people with perplexed looks on their faces as they have hushed conversations among themselves. Ruel pauses his music and pulls out both the AirPods, inserting them back into their case.

"What happened?" He asks the girl next to her.

"I don't know," She replies, "but I'm worried." She looks out of the window, but it's pitch black.

"It's okay, don't worry."

She nods a little with a small smile. Ruel smiles back, but his head turns around and his smile wipes off when the doors of the train open instantly. A few people enter, shouting. They have covered their faces with black ski masks. And to top it all off, they have guns in their hands. People around Ruel begin to shriek as the intruders completely enter inside and bang their guns at the roof.

"Holy shit." Ruel mumbles to himself.

People shriek even more as one of intruder begins to shout, drowning all of the shrieks of the passengers. "Shut up!!" He yells. It becomes dead silent in the train.

"Now we will come up to each and every one of you. Pull out all your money, jewelery and other things with worth." He bangs his gun at the roof of the train again, making Ruel flinch.

There are total 5 intruders. All of them go to different passengers, threat them with their guns and all of them pull out everything they possibly have to give to them. A man comes towards Ruel and the girl sitting next to him.

The man places the gun right on Ruel's forehead. "Pull out everything you have."

Ruel inhales deeply. "And what if I don't?"

"Shut up!" The man screams and the girl next to Ruel flinches. The man shoots a bullet at the roof of the train. "Pull out everything you have!" He puts the gun back on his forehead.

"I don't have anything with me!" Ruel screams in the same volume as the man.

"Listen kid," The man whispers, moving the gun from his forehead to his neck, "give everything you have, and I'll let you go. Without any harm."

"Let him go!"

The man turns around to see the girl. She is looking back at the man fearlessly, when her heart is beating out of her chest. The man removes the gun from Ruel's neck and moves it in front of the girl.

"And what do you have, little girl?"

"Take this." She says, pulling off her gold chain. "And these all." She removes all her silver rings from her shaky hands and hands it with her chain to the man. "Now let us all go!"

"No!" Ruel shouts. "Why are you giving all of your stuff to them?"

"It's okay, at this point I just want to escape freely."

The man glares at the two before going back to his other gang members. They all nod among themselves and without saying anything, they get off the train. The train begins to move once again.

The girl takes a deep breathe before leaning her head back on her seat with her eyes closed. Her eyes begin to well up with tears and they slowly fall down on her cheeks.

"Hey hey are you okay?" Ruel asks worriedly, placing his hand on her shoulder.

"Yeah, I'm- I'm fine." She sniffs and opens her eyes, wiping the tears from her face.

"You can't be okay, tell me, what happened? They have left the train now."

"That- that chain was the last thing my grandmother gave me before she- she-" More tears come down from her eyes to her face. Ruel wraps his arms around her firmly as she buries her face in his chest, letting the tears fall freely.

"It's okay, it's okay." Ruel keeps on whispering in her ears. She slowly soothes down and pulls her head from his chest. For one last time, the girl wipes her tears from her face.

"Thank you." She whispers, acknowledging Ruel.

The train comes to a halt and an announcement comes over the speaker, signifying they've reached the station. The doors open and everyone gets out while more passengers enter inside. Ruel and the girl walk out together.

"Oh, I'm Ruel, by the way." Ruel says, letting out his hand for the girl to shake.

"Hi Ruel, I'm y/n." The girl replies with a smile, shaking his hand.

"See you around y/n." Ruel says, turning around and walking out y/n's sight.

"See you." Y/n replies as Ruel walks to the horizon.
