in which the young queen of a now-
forgotten kingdom defied    a dragon
and faced the                 greatest price.

during aegon's conquest,     young queen
aurora of house lunalle,     of the kingdom
of rosevale,        faced the conquerers with
no surrender in mind.  her will was strong
even in the face of dragons,       and it cost
her everything.  instead of killing her, the
youngest sister of aegon i    planned for a
crueller fate.             the people of aurora's
kingdom were slaughtered,     and aurora
was cursed to sleep for eternity,     only to
wake when that who came to take all she
held dear conquered the world.     thorns
sprouted from the ground,     barring any
chance of rescue.  and aurora never able
to be released to the realm of the  gods:
a punishment worse than death. 

centuries passed, the thorns only grew
taller,    and the queen didn't age a day.
her skin stayed luminous,            her hair
luscious            and cheeks pink, and her
heart kept beating.  in the city frozen in
time,       now known in westeros as the
briar kingdom,                the skeletons of
hundreds             of heroes decorate the
thorny walls.                 aurora was never
rescued,  left forgotten and alone to be
swallowed up by myths and legends. 

until, three hundred years later, aurora
wakes to a different age,                a dust-
covered kingdom,  and the crowning of
 a new queen of westeros.    a targaryen
queen.

and all that aurora can think of,   when
she dons her crown             and her most
expensive silk dress,  is getting revenge
on those who wronged her.

author's note.
ok so i haven't seen         anyone with this
plot  ( there's a possibility it's been done
because sleeping beauty             is a pretty
well-loved        fairytale but i haven't seen
anyone do it with asoiaf )                        and
originally this was   going to go in my plot
shop but i realised         i loved it too much
to give it up!   i'm so excited to be writing
this!!!        ( also an alternative ending for
season 8 bc that season highkey sucked,
& this is part of my   otherworldly women
universe       so it's going along with those
plotpoints ) .
