LONG STORY
__________
𝐈t seemed the consequences of Visenya's actions the past few days, not drinking and nearly starving herself to death, pilled on-top of her as they landed on Dragonstone.Ser Erryk had to pick her up, as she wobbled of the wing of her dragon, and practically carry her inside of the castle.
Rhaenyra let out a near scream at the sight of her daughter, dirtied and covered in blood, barely conscious as she hung loosely in the Kingsgaurd tight grasp, the only thing keeping her stable and on her feet. Her sons rushed over to their sister with wide eyes as Jaehaerys took it upon himself to take Visenya from Ser Erryks arms and hold her in his own, looping his arm under her legs and reliving her of trying to stay standing.
Visenya's allowed her eyes to flutter shut when she felt the comfort and warmth of her brothers arms wrapped around her, her arms around his neck as she leaned her head on his shoulder and breathed in his scent. The tiniest, unnoticeable, smile pulled at Visenya's cracked lips as she felt and heard all her family around her, as she smelled the scent of home. She was completely oblivious to her panicking mother who was bombarding the poor, innocent Kingsgaurds with questions as to what happened to her daughter.
Under the order of his mother, Jaehaerys carried Visenya to her room and lay her gently on her soft bed.Jace and Luce practically ran behind him, fetching their sisters handmaidens on the way and hasting them to draw a bath, find clean clothes, anything that would help Visenya out of such a drained and messy state.
"What?" Was the first word exchanged between the Velaryon siblings.Visenya mumbling in confusion as she rubbed her red, tired eyes. Her three brothers all stood in a line at the side of her bed, almost looking as if they were clones of one another.
"What?!" Jace repeated, almost yelling, sounding shocked and horrified with his elder sisters words.
"Jace!shush!" Luce placed his finger over his own lips, signalling for Jace to quieten his voice, to which the older prince only scowled and rolled his eyes.
"Don't you tell me-..."
"Both of you shush!" Jaehaerys cut in, silencing the two younger boys immediately as they clamped their mouths shut and stood up a little straighter.
Visenya rolled her eyes at their childish bickering, having secretly missed it deep down, and turned her head away from them, exhaling heavily. She acted as if they were not there, staring at the wall in silence with a blank, emotionless, expression froze on her pale, blood stained face. She could feel the clothes on her skin, the blood sinking into her hair and scalp, itching at her skin and making her want to rip it all off.It wasn't until she felt the bed dip besides her did she completely snap back into reality.Tears immediately clouded and glossed over her blue eyes by simply staring into her brothers own, deep brown, eyes.Only Jaehaerys now sat on the edge of her bed, Jace and Luce having been silently ushered out by their older brother.
"Are you okay?" He softly muttered after he noticed the tears filling up his sisters eyes, it was a stupid question to ask but he wasn't sure what else he could say, to help her, to take whatever pain she was feeling so heavy on her heart away.
Visenya didn't reply with words, sniffling and choking back her tears until she pulled herself up and embraced Jaehaerys once more, burying her face in his neck as she sobbed and stained his leather clothing with her tears. He moved his hand from her hair to her back, caressing and comforting her softly as if she was about fall to pieces in his hands.Visenya may never cry in front of people and try to pretend she was invincible but Jaehaerys knew her too well to believe such a persona. He knew Visenya's habit of repressing and hiding her emotions would only stab her in the back one day, pushing her over the edge.
Eventually Jaehaerys left a teary Visenya with Rhaenyra, who also had tears staining her cheeks as more slipped out, allowing the two time alone to talk, and for Rhaenyra to tell Visenya of possibly even more devastating news, news of the sister she never had.
Visenya reverted back to the blank, emotionless state after Rhaenyra told her of the stillborn child she gave birth too a few days ago, the guilt of not being there, of being selfishly wrapped up in the pain of her pathetic heartbreak, washing over her like a tsunami. She sat in the bath, trying to think of ways she could of helped or changed the outcome of her baby-sisters never beating heart, for hours but a sensible solution never came to her and the suffocating guilt ate away at her.
Her skin was red and bruised after scrubbing every last essence of blood off but it still felt as if it where there, lingering on her and buried deep in the roots of her brain, coming back as horribly vivid flashes as she sat on the edge of her bed in her robe, subtly swinging back and forth with her eyes squeezed shut like a child recovering from a nightmare. Her only problem being is that it was unfortunately not a nightmare, and not something she could wake up from.
The Princess barely lasted five minutes attempting to sleep in her own chambers before crawling out of bed and tiptoeing down the hall to her younger brothers room, wriggling her still shaken body under his sheets. They lay in silence for a moment until Jaehaerys turned over, so his back was no longer to Visenya.
"What-...do you mind me asking, what happened?" Jaehaerys hesitantly spoke, almost afraid to hear the answer as he'd already made a few fearful and horrifying guesses in his head.
"It's...a long story" Visenya's lip curled in what looked like disgust as she sighed in exhaustion and shook her head.
Jaehaerys tried to decipher the emotion behind his sisters eyes and face as she spoke but her avoidance to meet his own eyes made it very difficult to do so.
"Did you speak to him at all?" Jaehaerys spoke the short moment of silence, not even needing to specify a name for Visenya to know who he was referring to.Aegon, of course.
As much as Visenya would never admit to it she couldn't get Aegon out of her head, wether she was awake or asleep, he infiltrated her every though. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't shake off the, unknown, heavy feeling weighing on her heart and mind.He was haunting her and she cursed the gods for it.
She sighed, shuffling slightly and placing her hand between the pillow and her head, for her to lean on. "He tried to speak to me...but I barricaded the door shut with chairs...and I also told Otto to burn in hell so~..." Visenya hadn't expected Jaehaerys to snort a laugh at her but once he began to laugh so did she, a smile breaking onto her tired and beaten features, even if it hurt her split lip to do so.
"I doubt he responded kindly to that" Jaehaerys spoke between his laughter, finding the image of Ottos face at such insulting words very amusing, to which Visenya only laughed harder as she shook her head.
𝐈t was clear to most people who stud at the Dragonstone war table, with a melted flame running through and illuminating its map carving of Westeros, that Visenya's mind was far from the actual topic of the discussion and panic of possible civil war.
She was not herself, it was obvious with her hair down, tucked behind her ears instead of pinned back, gold embroidery in the black dress she wore instead of the usual deep, crimson blood red. Most concerning of all, Visenya was quiet, rarely speaker unless it was necessary or she was spoken too first. The girl was usually confident, not loud but definitely not quiet, head strong and stubborn to be right or have her opinions heard. The queen Rhaenyra herself could barely concentrate on the dilemma at hand as her eyes always shifted over to her daughter, who stud at the opposite end of the stone table besides her brothers, with worry and concern written all over her face.
Despite Visenya's seemingly calm features, as her fingers traced over the symbols engraved into the stone table, Jaehaerys stud at her side as a sworn guard would, his eyes constantly flickering between his sister and others stud around them as if they could cause her any harm.
Soon enough, Luce came rushing in after having taken Arrax to patrol the skys of the island, out of breath and panting as he frantically waved his hands. "Ship!...near the bay!...green...sigil!" He bent over, leaning his hands on his knees as his chest heaved up and down
Rhaenyra's head and gaze immediately snapped towards Visenya, who was already looking at her.She only nodded and her daughter knew what she meant and wanted, they somehow spoke and concocted a plan without any words exchanged.
"Gods Luce!" Both Jaehaerys and Jace quickly sped around the table to their younger brother, who looked near to collapsing as he sucked in all the breath he could. "Did you run to Kings landing and back?!"
Jaehaerys leaned down slightly, placing his hand on his little brothers back and patting it slightly as Jace only grinned and chuckled in amusement.Rhaena, the boys betrothed, was also at his side, asking if was okay and helping him stand up straight, completely unaware of how her mere presence only quickened the boys breath and heart more, flushing his cheeks a deep pink.
"Come on!" Daemon yelled, gesturing for a few of the, now, Queen guards in the room to follow him out to the entrance of Dragonstone and its winding bridge.
Daemon left the Dragon stone hall with a packed and rather threatening group of Queens guards behind him.Visenya too rushed out after her mother who had taken the path to the dragon pit, ready to make her entrance as Queen with the crown, her own daughter had stolen for her, on her head, where it belonged.
"Where is the princess-...?"
The high pitched screech of an unrecognisable dragon broke through the air as the dragon itself soon burst through the clouds, with not one but two silver heads of hair sat on its saddle. It was only clear to the green soliders it landed behind that the dragon was not Rhaenyra but Visenya's, when they saw the Princess sat at the front of its saddle with her mother behind her, who slid off the dragons wing with grace and ease.
Visenya took a moment longer to come down from the dragon then Rhaenyra, giving it a short pat and whispering some High Valyrian praises with a proud grin on her lips. That grin quickly faded when she was allowed through the "Kings" guards, who surprisingly stepped aside for her, and saw the supposed King himself stud besides his grandsire, and presumable hand, with a cocky, lazy smirk on his own lips.
Shit. Why was he here? What in gods name did she do to deserve this torment? She wanted to knock that nuisance of a conquerors crown of his head and throw it off the bridge, frustratingly having to resist the urge to do so.
Visenya's eyes lingered a lot longer than she intended but she quickly diverted her gaze elsewhere when Ottos voice entered her fog of thought.Aegon clearly wasn't bothered if anyone discovered who it was he was watching so intensely, his eyes burning into Visenya as if he'd been starved of the sight of her for days.
"Princess Rhaenyra"
Visenya was already imaging his execution with that simple word, more like mistake.
"I'm Queen Rhaenyra now" Rhaenyra answered confidently and without any hesitation, before turning her gaze to the guards, completely dismissing Aegon's presence. "And you all are traitors to the realm"
"King Aegon Targaryen, second of his name, in his wisdom and desire for greatness peace...is offering terms" Otto spoke for Aegon as if he were not there, to which Visenya scoffed and rolled her eyes, unbothered if they heard or took notice of her clear disdain.
"If he is offering terms surely he should be capable of speaking for himself" Visenya frowned and raised her eyebrows at the hand, ignoring and speaking of Aegon as if he were not there as-well, just to be that extra bit petty as she always was.
Otto stared into the girls soul for a moment, his eye almost twitching as it looked like steam was about to burst out his ears, before clearing his throat and turning back to Rhaenyra and Daemon.
"Acknowledge Aegon as king and swear obeisance before the iron throne" Again Visenya rolled her eyes, and mockingly yawned, very aware Aegon was only watching her. "In exchange his grace will confirm your possession of Dragonstone...it will pass to your true born son, Jaehaerys, upon your death"
Jaehaerys?!?! Visenya suddenly seemed to wake up at her brothers name, confusion scrawled over her face as she looked to her mother for answers, but she seemed just as confused at the statement as her daughter was.Surely if anyone where to have Dragonstone it would be Visenya?Rhaenyras presumable and self proclaimed heir.Nobody interrupted Otto though, corrected or questioned him on Visenya's birthright, and he kept going.
"Jacaerys will be confirmed as the legitimate heir to driftmark and all the lands and holdings of house Velaryon"
Visenya was becoming confused, agitated and annoyed as Otto continue speaking, was he really skipping over her right to an inheritance as her mothers first born simply to keep his point of women not counting, of it needing to go the second born child if that be the first born son?She was even more frustrated that Daemon and Rhaenyra said nothing, only staring at the man with blank expressions as if they were almost considering accepting such terms.
Visenya found herself looking away from her mother, when she didn't look back at her, to Aegon, hoping he could somehow tell her what was going on, for reasons she couldn't think off.
"Your sons by prince Daemon will also be given places of high honour at court, Aegon the younger as the kings squire, Viserys as his cup bearer"
Visenya felt close to exploding, Aegon and Viserys were barely old enough to walk without assistance, never mind have their futures decided and set in stone already.
"Finally the King and his good grace will pardon any Knight or Lord who conspired against his ascent" Ottos raised his voice, it echoing in the air around them as he stud with his chin high and might as if he himself where the King.
"And what of Visenya?" Daemon finally came to the girls defence, once he'd glanced in her direction and noticed the fire of rage bubbling up inside her.
Otto didn't answer right away and instead looked to Aegon first, as if asking for permission to continue, only turning back when the boy had nodded. The small interaction worried Visenya greatly as to what was about to come out his mouth.
"Visenya, per the Kings request, will be taken as his wife.A generous offer, keeping your bloodline on the throne"
Oh fuck no.Visenya's eyes widened and her mouth parted as she looked to her mother, who seemed completely stunned, wanting to say something in her defence but unable to croak out a single word.
"I proposed a similar arrangement to the Queen Alicent, many years ago, and she rejected it with no hesitation or thought" Rhaenyra scoffed in disbelief, completely baffled as she looked from her brother to her daughter, who was subtly cowering back and keeping her head down, and it suddenly clicked.
Realisation sheeted Rhaenyra's shock as a sudden light bulb seemed to switch on in her head.Visenya hadn't noticed as she was to busy avoiding everyone's eyes, now that their attention had been turned to her, but it was hard for Aegon not to notice the way Rhaenyra glared him down, yet stayed silent.
"I would rather feed my sons to the dragons then have them carry shields and cups for your drunken, usurper, cunt of a king" Daemon spat, tilting his head and leaning on his sword, in a rather menacing stance.
"Aegon Targaryen sits the iron throne, he wears the conquerors crown, wields the conquerors sword, has the conquerors name.He was anointed by a septum of the faith before the eyes of the thousands, every symbol legitimacy belongs to him" Otto tirelessly ranted, although it seemed Aegon's pride only shrunk at his words as his proud features faded. "And then there is Stark, Tully, Baratheon.Houses that have also received, and are at present, considering generous terms from their King"
"And I have a cock" Visenya spoke abruptly, pouting as she looked around at everybody else, whose eyes had turned to her in shock and what looked like horror. "Oh, I'm sorry I thought we were saying things that couldn't possibly be true"
Daemon snorted a laugh at the girls words, shaking his head as he chuckled and grinned at the ground proudly.Aegon couldn't even help the grin tugging at the corner of his lips, biting at the inside of his cheeks to desperately suppress and hide it.
Rhaenyra sighed, seemingly unimpressed with her daughter's jest at such a moment and averting back to the main subject at hand. "Stark, Tully and Baratheon all swore to me.When King Viserys named me his heir"
"Stale oaths will not put you on the Iron Throne, Princess" Otto dared to take a few steps closer to Rhaenyra, Visenya was definitely envisioning his execution vividly now. "The succession changed the day your father sired a son, I only regret that you and he were the last to the truth of it"
Rhaenyra took an angry stepped forward but stopped when she saw Visenya seeming to do the job she'd planned for her.She stormed over to Otto who, surprisingly, didn't flinch as she ripped the hand pin of his coat.
"You are no more hand than Aegon is king, fucking traitor!" Visenya spat, throwing the gold hand pin, god nows where, off the edge of the bridge, although her words seemed to hit Aegon more than Otto as her fuming gaze shifted to him. "If your king was so gracious and great he would be speaking for himself right now and not having his grandsire do it for him, like a mother feeds her child"
The bridge fell silent, even the subtle sound of swords being slightly pulled out their scabbards being heard between the wind, until Otto broke it.
"Grand Maester" Otto called, holding his hand out for the maester to hand him something but Aegon took out off the man, having suddenly decided to hand it to Visenya himself.
Visenya's face screwed into confusion, her lip curling in disgust as Otto stepped aside and nodded to his grandson, who now stud in-front of Visenya with the most serious expression she'd ever seen on his face.He slowly placed the scroll in her hands, her eyes fixed on his as Aegon kept his hand near hers for as long as he could. Her expression had almost softened as her eyes met his, silently searching for answers on his expression. She quickly snatched her hand away, when the graze of his fingers on the back of her hand sent a shiver down her spine, and her softened features harshened again.
Visenya turned her eyes to the scroll Aegon had placed in her hands and almost ripped it open, the silence heavy on her shoulders as she could feel her mothers gaze burning into her back, awaiting her reaction or respond to whatever was on the scroll. The anger faded and Visenyas face grew blank, chewing at the inside of her cheeks and choking back any emotions that threatened to surface as she read the paper.
It was a marriage agreement, not a formal one but one that stated practically every issue that may be brought to the table at such an offer. It all honesty, Visenya was actually considering it, but she couldn't say that out loud without it seeming suspicious, she was unfortunately a young women and that meant the decision being up to her mother and Daemon.Visenya glanced up at again, sighing and looking back down when Aegon raised his eyebrows at her, a glimmer of hope almost being seen in his eyes.
Visenya cleared her throat, breaking the deathly silence as she fixed her expression back its harsh features, as if she was slipping on a mask, before harshly shoving the scroll against Aegon's chest, into his hands.
"You know it's hard to take you seriously after the noises I had you making, the other night" Aegon whispered in Visenya's ear before she had the chance to walk away, being very careful about the fact that no one could hear.
Her eyes widened and her jaw clenched, tilting her head."And it's hard to take your whole "true king" shit seriously after the whining and begging-..."
Visenya's hiss was cut off by Daemon, purposefully yelling loudly to interrupt the two after he and Rhaenyra shared a suspicious, almost knowing glance.
"The fuck is this?!" Daemon spat, causing Visenya to quickly turn around and return to his side, shying away from his obvious glare.Rhaenyra was busy glaring down her half-brother who quickly scurried back to his grandsires side.
"A marriage between the king and your daughter could put the violence to rest, no blood need be spilt, the realm can carry on in peace" Otto announced, his voice yet again echoing before his gaze settled on Rhaenyra and he nodded. "Queen Alicent eagerly awaits your answer"
"She can have her answer know with, stuffed in her fathers mouth along with his withered cock" Daemon spoke quickly, clearly he'd been itching his entire life to spit such an insult at Otto. The rogue prince eagerly drew his sword as the guards behind him followed his lead, the guards behind Otto and Aegon quickly unsheathing theirs and getting into a defensive stance."Ser Erryk bring me Lord Hightower so I may take the pleasure myself"
A sudden shriek from Ikarus diverted everyone's attention to the dragon as it stud on its back legs and roared, almost as if in protest.
"No" Rhaenyra could barely be heard over the dragon but one look directed at her husband caused him and the rest of her guards to back down.
Visenya couldn't help but smirk as Daemon huffed and muttered curses under his breath, like a child having a tantrum, knowing he would've been thrilled to execute Otto as much as she would've been to watch it happen.
"Kings landing will have my answer on the morrow" Rhaenyra nodded and quickly spun on her heels, ignoring her daughter's attempt to speak quietly to her and instead continuing through the guards towards the Dragonstone castle, leaving Visenya terribly confused as she followed.
"Everyone out!" Rhaenyra yelled the moment they re entered the hall, causing Visenya to stop dead in her tracks as fear and confusion widened her eyes.
Jaehaerys, Luce and Jace all went to exit, after exchanging confused looks, until the eldest two boys were stopped by the booming voice of their mother, causing them to freeze on the spot in fear, much like Visenya. "Jace!Jaehaerys!Stay!"
They both immediately stopped walking and returned to the illuminated stone table, nodding to their mother as one traditionally would to a Queen yet the concern on their expressions where evident.Visenya crept closer to the table, standing opposite her brothers.
Rhaenyra stopped her heavy steps in front of the large fireplace, pinching the brink of her noise as she sighed.Daemon walked up behind his wife, placing a hand on her lower back in a comforting gesture as they quietly whispered to one another, the only hint of what they were muttering off was Rhaenyra shaking her head as her eyes were stuck to the floor.
The three Velaryon children stud waiting in anticipation, fear and concern as to what they were mother was so frustrated out about yet did not order them to leave as she usually would when distressed. The siblings step father eventually turned away from his wife and slowly approached the table, his hands behind his back and his unreadable expression facing the ground. He cleared his throat as if about to speak but Rhaenyra quickly jumped in.
"Where were you after the dinner?hmm?"Rhaenyra seemed to explode as she spun around and stormed towards her daughter, her son's wide and confused eyes following her.
"What?!"Visenya almost stumbled as she took a step back from her mother, more afraid of the anger raging in her mother's eyes than whatever it was that she had done to fuel the fire.
"After that disastrous dinner!you didn't disappear to bed did you?"Rhaenrya accusing pointed a finger in Visenya's face, lowering her voice as her chest rose and fell, heavily."At least not to your own"
Shit. Was the first thought that went through Visenya's made as what her mother had caught onto became clear.
"Mother what-..." Jaehaerys looked between everyone else in the room, only to see Daemon and Jace with not a single shimmer of shock in their eyes.
"Jace" Rhaenyra spoke, her voice going a pitch deeper as she noticed her son's reaction, or more lack of it, raising her eyebrows in question.
"I-...I didn't know for certain whether anything actually happ-...happened, I should've-...she said-..." Jace's nervous rambling was cut off by Rhaenyra.
"She said what?" Rhaenyra interjected, leaning her hands on the stone table as poor Jaehaerys looked around at everyone with utter confusion, even looking to Visenya for answers but she only looked down with a regretful and guilty expression.
Jace sharply inhaled, looking to Visenya as if silently apologising, before exhaling heavily. "She promised me that nothing happened, and I believed her, I believe my sister" He muttered the last part and looked down in shame, avoiding his mother's gaze.
Visenya wanted to cry at those words alone, frowning as she shook her head.Believe not Believed, he would still gladly trust her with his life, without hesitation, and vice versa.
"What the fuck is going on?!" Jaehaerys finally yelled, sick of being left in the confusing dark.
Rhaenyra let out what sounded like a scoff in response, pushing her hands off the table and shaking her head as she sighed.
"Visenya seems to be more friendly with the usurper than she cared to say" Daemon explained with a sigh.
"That is false-..." Visenya mumbled, attempting to come to her own defence before Daemon jumped back in.
"My spy's tell me otherwise, Princess" Daemon spat as he glared at the girl disapprovingly, the look seeming to snap Visenya's fear into anger. She was never completely fond or approving of Daemon, aware of his history with his past wives or whores, and him trying to act like her father only pushed Visenya's buttons more.
"You have spy's watching and following me?!"Visenya raised her voice, snapping her head up from the floor. "What the fuck is wrong with you?!" She began to storm around the table, probably ready to hit Daemon but Jaehaerys was quick to reach her and grab her waist, yanking her back and hold Visenya's back tightly against his chest as she spat more insults at Daemon. "Your fucking disgusting you know that?!your one to talk, ask if you didn't also take my moth-..."
"Visenya, do not try switch focus because you have been caught in your own reckless actions" Rhaenyra spoke a lot calmer and softly, her voice still rather stern as she addressed her daughter and held her hand out in front of her, to which Visenya stopped fighting against Jaehaerys hold.
Daemons jaw was on the floor as his eyes were wide, wondering if Rhaenyra truly told her daughter that much.Jace too looked star-struck and overwhelmed, with all Visenya had just yelled alone.
"Jaehaerys let go off your sister, she is not an animal" Rhaenyra sighed, looking to her eldest son with a pleading look as she trusted him to be the most peaceful of her children, around family at least.
"I don't think you want me to do that" Jaehaerys vigorously shook his head, seeming somehow frightened of his sister and her capability despite the obvious strength and height difference between them.Jace couldn't blame him as Visenya had been the one who bullied and picked on them growing up, telling them to be tougher. It was in a normal petty and playfully sibling manner of course but that didn't stop them being slightly afraid of her, but most would be terrified of a person they'd seen covered in blood proceed to act as if it were only dirt.
"Jaehaerys" Rhaenyra warned, tilting her head to which Jaeharey sighed and removed his arms from Visenya's waist, holding them up in the air as he backed away and returned to Jace's side.
"Visenya..." Rhaenyra sucked in a deep breath, closing her eyes for a brief moment as she looked close to throwing up.
Visenya glanced at her brothers awkwardly, silently pleading for them to do anything to help her out, to have her back.
Jaehaerys cleared his throat, placing a hand on Jace's shoulder and patting it."We should-..."
"Mhm, yeah, definitely" Jace quickly agreed, vigorously nodded as he left the hall with his elder brothers arm around his shoulders, whispering amongst themselves incoherently.
Visenya's eyes watched them leave, using any reason not to meet her mother and Daemons gaze that she could feel on the back of her head. She dropped her head to the floor the moment she turned back to them, preparing for the scolding off her life, like a child when being yelled at.
"I'm going to ask you this once...and I want the truth" Rhaenyra's anger had faded and was replaced with a pleading look, along with what almost looked a shine of sympathy in her eyes.
Visenya nodded, gulping and chewing at the bottom of her lip nervously as her eyes were trained on the floor, as if her mother were Medusa and would turn her to stone if she dared to look her in the eyes.
"Did you..." Rhaenyra didn't need to finish the sentence for Visenya to know what she meant, what she was asking.
A terribly uncomfortable silence fell over the room as Rhaenyra's question hung in the air like the mist on a cold, foggy morning.Visenya's words sat the edge of her tongue, wanting to escape but not having enough breath to do so.She didn't want to answer, no sane person wanted their mother to know that but it was her own fault after all, her own actions, she might as well own up to it now before everything escalated into the anticipated war.
Visenya sighed and hesitantly nodded, she couldn't even begin to form the answer and she doubted Rhaenyra wanted details.Rhaenyra shook her head but it quickly snapped towards Daemon as he began snickering under his breath, Visenya too turning her eyes to the man.
"Sorry, just rather ironic" Daemon chuckled, clamping his mouth when his eyes met with Rhaenyra glare. "She really is your daughter"
Rhaenyra rolled her eyes at her husband, turning back to her daughter.Visenya almost fell back when her mother abruptly walked the few steps between them and grabbed eithier of her shoulders, with what looked like sympathy shining in her eyes, oddly enough.
"Visenya, I need you to understand how men lie to women to get what they want out of them..." Rhaenyra trailed off, seeming hesitant in continuing but Daemon did it for her.
"Your mothers right, Aegon has a...reputation, to say the least-..."
"And you've been a truthful man?loyal?" Visenya scoffed, throwing her hand up at Daemon.
Rhaenyra and Daemon looked to eachother, Daemon looking to be begging for her help while Rhaenyras facial expression could not be seen by Visenya. They somehow seemed to exchange words with only their eyes before Rhaenyra turned back to the girl.
"Visenya, please, you must understand.Whatever he said, told you, was probably far from the truth-..." Rhaenyra pleaded, attempting to reason with Visenya and open her eyes to what she thought was the truth.Aegon had already stolen her crown it frightened Rhaenyra to think he had also possibly stolen her only daughter, from right under her nose, the greens already taken the breath and heartbeat from one.
"No, no!" Visenya refused, forcing Rhaenyra's hands off her shoulders and pushed them away, as she took a step back and shook her head. "I am not so naive to believe some lies fed to me by a man"
"Visenya-..."
"No!you don't-...your just as-...assuming, assuming Aegon's like him!" Visenya once again pointed to Daemon who just stud defenceless as he looked to his wife for help, again.
"Whatever he has told you-..."
"He hasn't told me anything!believe it or not, I have common sense!" Visenya threw her arms up and huffed in frustration.
"Visenya, the boy has stolen both mine and your bright right, do you really think him to be truthful?!"
Visenya dropped her head to the floor in shame, her tongue poking at the side of the cheek as she tapped her foot. She had a point, Visenya had to admit, but she was defending herself, her actions, not him.Thats what she kept telling herself, at least.
"Did you know about the Hightowers plan?" Daemons eyes thinned into a suspicious glare, ignoring the dumbfounded look Rhaenyra sent him as he
Visenya scoffed a laugh and rolled her eyes. She was always going to be underestimated, she was beginning to think there wasn't even a point in trying to prove people wrong anymore. It came as no shock to her that Daemon of all people would assume that Visenya would allow man to coherence her into betraying her family, he clearly thought her weak.
"Yes, Daemon, I knew they were planning to take my mothers and my own throne but decided to do nothing about it, to tell no one" Visenya sarcastically retorted, sneering at the man childishly.
She looked to her mother with the same baffled and annoyed look, glancing to Daemon as she silently questioned her mother's decision to marry such a paranoid man.
"Well that marriage proposal was no coincidence, why would Otto and Alicent even agree to put such a thing, unless...they too knew something...about your scandal" Daemon drawled, raising his eyebrows as he continue to suspiciously eye the princess.
"Gods be good" Visenya sighed, rolling her eyes as she shook her head. "Mother, you married a mad man"
"Visenya, Daemon has a point, Otto controls my siblings as if though they are his puppets, he could have easily used Aegon and your...realtionship to his advantage" Rhaenyra spoke softly, almost whispering as she reached out to graze her fingers over her daughters arm.
"How on earth could've he have used that to take the throne? As if I hold any political power" Visenya scoffed a laugh, that almost sounding nervous as she rewinded her many conversations with Aegon in her head, praying she hadn't said anything that could've sabotaged her mothers claim to the throne, and by extension her own.
"It's not about that, it's about putting your mother and her allies to rest. They think putting you and therefore your mothers line on the throne will stop any attacks or plots against them" Daemon sighed in exhaustion and frustration, as if annoyed with her, something Visenya noticed and frowned.
"Well that doesn't evil or all to bad, it keeps the realm at peace..." Visenya trailed off, nervously shifting her gaze between Rhaenyra and Daemon who were looking back at her as if she once more covered in blood. "...Doesn't it?"
"Visenya, honey, you're not actually considering this marriage are you?" Rhaenyra almost choked on her words, in shock with her daughter's consideration.
Visenya opened her mouth but all that left it was stuttered words, not a complete answer, as she stumbled over her words like a timid little girl.
"You want to marry him?!" Daemon finally snapped, his voice cracking and shattering the silence as it echoed off the hall walls and in Visenya's ears.
"I'd rather him than be shipped off to the north to marry a man I've never met!" Visenya snapped back without hesitation, she had yet to bring up her mother's plan to marry her to the Lord of winterfell, something Rhaenys had announced to a hall full of nobles before Visenya even knew herself.
"Cregan is-..." Rhaenyra had attempted to keep her voice soft and calming for Visenya but she was cut off by the girl.
"Cregan is what?!how do you know what he's like mother?!have you met the man?!...no!I am not the solution for your political problems!" Visenya inhaled sharply and lowered her raised voice as Rhaenyra seemed speechless at her outburst."Mother, I beg you, do not do the exact same thing that Viserys did to you both...please" She begged like a little girl and while sympathy painted over her mothers expression Daemons never shifted and he cut Rhaenyra off just as she opened her mouth.
"I worked to arrange that betrothal, you will not throw it away and make a show off me to the north so you can marry that drunken cunt!"
"I don't give a shit about your image or political arrangement!you cannot force me to do anything, you are not my father!"
Daemon may not have seen much of the insult spewed from the princess mouth and into his face, like a snakes venom, or read too much into her unexplained anger for him but Rhaenyra did.
"Otto said it himself, it was to restore peace to the realm, to stop your mother and her supporters from retaliating!" Daemon continued their screaming match, unaware of the layers behind the insult she'd just threw in his face. "Do you really think agreeing to that marriage would be any different?!"
"Yes!And I don't just think it would, I know it would!" Visenya screeched back without a beat, leaving Daemon speechless for a moment before a scowl returned to his face.
"How?you do not know anything, you are nothing but a naive-..."
"Maybe not" Visenya cut him off, rather calmly as she shrugged and frowned but anyone could see the anger still in her eyes, the fire still lit and alive."Maybe I am the naive and pathetic girl you believe me to be but I know Aegon, while I know nothing of the man you plan to marry me off to!"
Visenya threw her arms up in the air, looking to her mother with desperation flooding her eyes as they slapped back down on her thighs. "Mother, please" She whispered helplessly once more, and Visenya felt she was pretty helpless at that point.
Visenya could taste the bittersweet word on the edge of her tongue, wanting to say it but afraid of the consequences as it twisted her gut in both a sickening and flustering way.She didn't have to though, to say what she had been itching to say because it was clear from the look Rhaenyra met her eyes with that she knew, she knew her daughter far to well.
"Visenya, you may think-..."
Visenya sighed loudly in frustration before her mother could even finish her point, she knew where she was going, that she thought Visenya had been manipulated, tricked and misled. It infuriated her that they thought she could be so easily led by her emotions, Aegon may have betrayed her but not once did she fold her opinions or thoughts to his own, that should count for something.
"I don't think it, I know it!I know..." Visneya repeated, this time in the same voice breaking yell as before although it became almost inaudible with her last few words, her voice shrinking as she suddenly turned her gaze back to the floor.
"You know what?" Rhaenyra spoke suspiciously calm and softly as she thinned her eyes at Visenya, like she knew what she was itching to say and was trying to pry it out of her.
Visenya once more stuttered and stumbled over her words for a dreadful moment until she have up with a huff, spinning around and storming out the hall. She was tired of defending herself for making the same mistake they themselves did.She didn't want to waste and break her voice if she wasn't going to be heard, if she wasn't going to be reasoned and spoken with like an adult, not a child.

Visenyas in a little thing we call ✨denial✨ (and a dash of repressed emotions and unresolved trauma)
Im so sorry for how long this took😭school rlly sucks and istg the moment I got motivation to write again a new show or something came
out (*cough* tbosas and pjo *cough*) and, me being me, I got hella fixated on them.I hope this makes up for the long wait, ik it probably doesn't, but take this as a lil early xmas present for all of u that celebrate.
Don't ask why I added Aegon to the bridge scene, it was just for dramatics and tension purposes (I also needed Nyra to clock onto what was happening between them somehow)
p.s, i will hit anyone who try's to make Jaehaerys and Vis relationship weird, they just got a special lil trauma bond over their nightmares.Jaeherys is Vis little emotional support buddy (until the war when he-...🫢) so don't try make it weird and about all that targcest I beg, they're my babies😔.
Anwayss enough with the ranting, so sorry for the wait but I hope u all enjoyed this either way, AND TYSM FOR 11k+ READS, so grateful for u all 🫶
