ย  ย  ย  Roryย and Elena stood behind the half wall in the twin's apartment. Their doe eyes narrowed on the doorway. As, Rory had been texted her brother as Elena texted Damon. Hearing footsteps the two pressed themselves against the wall, one with a blade clutched in her hand peering behind the wall.

The door was kicked opened revealing Alec with his bow in his hand aiming around the apartment, Terra with her hand out in front of her ready to take down a certain hybrid and vampire twins. And Damon Salvatore who waltz in with a bag in his hands rolling his eyes at the two before him.

"Relax Apollo, Sabrina the teenage wench; they already left." Damon rolled his eyes walking over to the two glaring girls tossing a bag to Elena who furrowed her brows at the bag in her hands. "Make yourselves presentable. I know where the twins are going to be tonight."

Rory gaped at the vampire, "We were almost found by Klaus and you bring us clothes?" She asked in disbelief.

"I had an hour to realize what a bad idea it was to leave you two alone. As Bonnie and Clyde over here were having a date in the Windy City, process it, and move on." He shrugged taking a seat on the sofa.

Rory gnawed on her lip as Alec walked over to his sister asking if she was okay alongside Madison who looked to her best friends with worried eyes.

"Are you guys okay?"

"Yeah."

"Good. Now, get dressed. You both are all road-tripy and gross." Damon piped up, "No offence."

"So, you know where they'll be?" Alec asked the vampire.

"Yes, with Klaus. So, I'll distract Klaus, you two will be out of sight in case anything goes south. While these two deal with my brothers."

"Thank you." Elena said softly.

"But you're both going to have about five minutes tops before that hybrid freak rips my heart out and these two's heads off if he sniffs them out. So please, tell me you both can do this."

"We can do it." Rory nodded confidently.

ย  ย  "Where'sย Rebekah?" Gloria asked the hybrid in front of her.

"She'll be here shortly. I can't just conjure her on demand." He sarcastically said to the witch taking a sip of his beer.

Theo glanced around the bar in boredom ignoring the two next him as he thought back to Klaus' words about the city.

"They're jealous." Stefan bluntly said as he threw back a shot.

"Anybody would be." Theo added to the smiling hybrid, "You're what? Basically the most powerful creature on the planet. Everyone has the right to fear you, especially your family." He added with a smirk.

Klaus frowned. "More like an abomination."

"No. You're a king." Stefan corrected.

"Royalty!" Theo cheered raising his glass to the hybrid who smiled at the twins.

"Look at us. Three sad orphans." Klaus mused.

"The original three musketeers." Stefan concurred.

Theo took a sip of his bourbon as he glanced to the blonde across from him.

"My sister fancies you, you know." Klaus nodded to Theo who shook his head lightly. "But . . . I should warn you, Rebekah doesn't do anything half-speed, and that includes falling in love." Theo's emerald orbs looked to the blonde who ease dropped on the trio's conversation. He smiled at the blonde who smirked ink return. "So just be careful. She's totally mad." He joked.

The three laughed.

"Thanks for the tip." Theo nodded.

"And when the point comes where she inevitably leaves you- she can't help it, it's just who she is." He explained, to the young vampire. "Don't let your heart do anything stupid."

Theo nodded in understanding as Stefan listened to the two.

"You're a good friend, Nik." Theo said softly. He nodded to Stefan, "We haven't exactly been around anyone other then ourselves." He admitted as Stefan gnawed on his lip. Klaus looked between the twins as he thought of his familiar situation. "We find comfort in each other, seeing as how no one would really understand us." He said with furrowed brows looking down at his drink. "We only have each other." He said with a frown thinking of their older brother who had left them.

"To friendship." Klaus raised his shot to the brothers, snapping Theo out of his train of thought. The two raised their glasses to the hybrid.

"So I'm confused. If we were all such great friends, then why do I only know you as the hybrid dick who sacrificed my girlfriend on an alter of fire?" Stefan asked.

"And the one who also sacrificed my best friend's mother." Theo added throwing his drink back down his throat.

"All good things must come to an end." Klaus smirked.

ย  ย  ย Theo and Rebekah danced to the soft Jazz music that played in the background. Klaus and Stefan watched their siblings from across the bar. Theo smiled down at Rebekah who smiled up at the handsome vampire.

"You're a lot different from your brother, yet oddly the same." Rebekah noted as she nodded to the vampire across from them.

"Hmm, how so?" He mused swaying side to side with the blonde Original.

"You're both sharp as a dagger yet you also have this thing about you." She murmured gazing into his emerald orbs.

Theo chuckled, "I have this thing?" He mused.

"Yes, this thing." She giggled. "It's this look . . ." She trailed off.

Theo stuck out his tongue at the blonde jokingly who nudged him playfully. "That look?"

"No." She shook her head, "It's the same one I have when it comes to my brother." She admitted softly. Theo's brows furrowed, "You'd die for him." She nodded to the vampire next to her brother. "Even your older brother who abandoned you both. You'd do anything in your power to protect them. I admire that about you."

Theo's eyes softened as he looked to his smiling twin next to the hybrid. "They're my family. They're all I have left." He admitted.

Rebekah smiled softly at his words, "You--"

She was cut off by a loud bang sending the two to the floor.

Screams and gunfire echoed their surroundings.

Theo grabbed Rebekah by her waist and pulled her behind the bar. His eyes narrowed at the wooden bullets, "They know." He held up the object to the Original.

"That means he's here." She breathed out.

"Who?" He asked worriedly. "Who's here?"

"Rebekah! Come on, we've got to go, sweetheart." Klaus' voice rang out.

"Theo!" Stefan called out following behind the hybrid.

The blonde stood up as Theo followed behind her.

"What the hell is going on?" Theo asked his brother who wore a look of confusion as well seeing the blonde run to the door alongside the frantic humans.

"Go!" Klaus shouted at the blonde.

"Stefan, Theodore." Klaus halted the twins. "I'm sorry, but the fun has to end here."

"What are you talking about?"

"You both must forget Rebekah and me. Until I say otherwise, you never knew us. Thank you both, I had forgotten what it was like to have brothers." He compelled.

The two blinked seeing the chaos and mayhem around them.

โ”โ” ๐–ฏ๐–ฑ๐–ค๐–ฒ๐–ค๐–ญ๐–ณ, ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฎ โ”โ”

"You compelled us to forget." Theo noted.

"It was time for Rebekah and I to move on." Klaus said. "Better to have a clean slate."

"But why?" Stefan asked. "You shouldn't have to cover your tracks."

"Unless you were running from someone." Theo squinted his eyes at the hybrid accusingly.

Klaus looked to the twins, "Storytime's over."

Theo furrowed his brows seeing the familiar face of their older brother.

"We need another drink. A real one." Stefan said to the hybrid as he and his brother stood up exiting the bar.

Stefan sped Damon into a car with a harsh glare. "What is wrong with you?" He hissed.

"What is wrong with you?" Damon remarked. "You kill Andie one day, you save my life the next."

"You did what?" Theo looked to his twin who ignored his disappointed eyes.

"He didn't tell you?" Damon nodded to Theo who shook his head, "Yeah, brother here is playing double agent."

"Klaus almost saw Elena today you have to get her out of Chicago." Stefan demanded.

"She's not going anywhere. And neither is Clara, until they get you both checked into vampire rehab and on the mend." Damon argued. "Trust me. I've tried."

"She's the key to everything."

"What are you talking about?" Damon asked.

"Klaus can't make hybrids because Elena is alive. She didn't die in the sacrifice." Theo explained to the vampire. "His witch is literally seconds away from finding out."

"Tell Elena to go home and forget about me. And you'd be smart to tell Clara that too." Stefan said.

"Tell them yourselves." Damon said nodding to the two girls across from them.

Theo sighed nodding to Clara to come with him.

The angel glanced to Elena who nodded reassuringly.

With a sigh she followed after Theo's retreating figure, allowing Elena and Stefan to have a moment alone.

Theo came to a halt, turning on his heel he was met with Clara's smaller body engulfing him in a hug. Breathing in her calming scent he wrapped his arms firmly around her waist.

"I missed you." She murmured into his shoulder.

Theo's lips twitched upwards, "Happy late birthday." He murmured into her hair. A giggle left Clara's lips as she pulled back looking up at the vampire. "Did you get my gift?" He asked.

"I sleep with it every night." She admitted sniffling, recalling the stuffed animal.

Theo smiled gently raising his hand to the side of her cheek, as she leant into his touch. "You shouldn't be here." He murmured sadly.

Clara frowned, "I had to see you."

"I know. But you have to leave." He breathed out pulling his hand away. "Until this is all over - if it ever is over. You can't keep following me." Clara blinked as a tear streamed down her cheek. "His hybrids aren't working, because Elena is alive. You can't - you can't do this anymore, angel." He said as tears breamed his eyes.

"Theo, please-" She sniffled grabbing his hands in her own.

"It's just for now." He said cupping her cheeks in his hands. "This isn't goodbye for ever."

"Promise?" She whispered looking up at the vampire with pleading eyes.

Theo swallowed a lump in his throat as he pressed his lips against her forehead. Clara's eyes fluttered shut feeling his warmth welcome her in.

Only to feel nothing.

Her doe eyes blinked opened seeing the Salvatore twin, now gone.

ย  ย  ย  Rory laid in her bed as Terra laid next to her with a frown. She watched as her best friend hugged the stuffed animal in her arms scared it would disappear like the one who had given it to her.

"You okay?" She whispered to the brunette.

Rory parted her lips and shook her head softly not wanting to cry. "No." She whimpered. "I'm not." She sniffled.

Terra frowned wrapping her arms around her smaller frame and pulling her into a hug. "It's going to be okay."

"He's gone." She sobbed. "He didn't promise he'd come back to me."

Terra kissed the crown of her head. Her emerald eyes looked up and was met with Alec's sad hazel ones. She shook her head at the hunter who frowned and nodded exiting the room.

Moments later he returned.

"Rory?" Alec called out gently.

The brunette sat up wiping her face and sniffling looking to her brother who smiled softly.

"Uh, there's something downstairs for you." He said.

Terra smiled to the confused brunette.

The two girls followed behind the hunter down the stairs and was met with Nathan Fray.

"I, uh, didn't know what you were in the mood for so I kinda got all your favourites." He nodded to the food that littered the living room's coffee table; pizza, Chinese food, ice cream, pie, littered the room. "Also got Prisoner of Azkaban on DVD." He smiled holding up the case.

Rory giggled walking over to her father engulfing him in a hug. "Thank you."

Nathan kissed his daughter's temple, "Anything for you, sweetheart. Now, come on foods getting cold, and I got pie." He smiled widely dragging her over to the couch next to Terra and Alec.

"You got cheese, yes." Terra cheered as she grabbed a slice of pizza for herself.

"This one." Alec handed the box of rice to his sister.

"Thank you." She nodded to her brother.

The four had a relatively normal; family night. As they sat as a family around the television. Though one of them wasn't blood related, in the Fray house, you didn't have to be blood to be family. And that was what they were;

A family.
