── with some chemistry going on between them, they started out as a small fling outside of school and slowly developed into a relationship.  as they were together, she started seeing some things behind closed doors.  she'd often see how ward mistreats rafe in a way and sometimes, she can sense that ward likes her very little because of how much he knows her father is not a big fan of him.  more that her father always rejects his help or offers for more business opportunities. 
── at first, naia didn't like him at first because his approach was rather unexpected.  she actually rejected him a few times before giving him a chance.  through that, rafe finds it interesting and amusing at the same time.  he gets protective over her which makes him slightly think less of his reputation and ego because he feels like naia has an understanding about him and his family relationships. 
── they took multiple breaks in between their relationships due to many reasons.  one was she felt pressure being around his dad or the thought of his dad potentially disturbing their relationship, and overtime, rafe thinking too much about his reputation and image which means pleasing his dad at all costs.  no matter how many times ward is dissatisfied. 
── their official breakup was two months before the end of the year.  rumors were spread that rafe broke up with her but actually, naia decided to end the relationship.  when summer starts, she comes back hearing that she was disloyal and cheated on him with some random guy.

── rafe keeps old polaroid pictures of her in his dresser because he doesn't realize he misses her until it was almost too late.  the pictures remind him of the good memories and the good he had in his life when she was around.  he likes to look at them, especially when she's smiling by herself or when she's with him.  as if he could have kept the one good thing if he wanted to, and he wanted that badly.
