โ๐ˆ ๐ƒ๐Ž๐๐“ ๐„๐•๐„๐ want to go to parents night.โž Allen sighed, scratching Bongos head. "It's kinda stupid anyway. Teachers technically just trash talking behind your back." He continued.

"I've never thought of it that way, but you're completely right." Adelaide said, taking a sip of her beer. "And either way, we get to stay home and watch movies all night, which is way better than being in school after hours."

"Oh, yeah, watching cheesy Hallmark movies, so fun." Allen joked. "We've watched, what? 12 of these already tonight? I mean, how many more can we really take?" He groaned, leaning his head back.

"Right? I think even Bongo might be getting sick of them." Adelaide laughed, petting Bongo. "Hey, Parker pests, guess what just happened!" Lip yelled, letting himself into the Parker home.

"Did you forget how to knock, Philip?" Adelaide asked sarcastically as Lip sat down right next to her. "Tire came by and tried to drop me out of Debbies fucking window."

"Gallagher story times, my favourite. Bongo and I are going to read X-men." Allen said sarcastically before picking up his puppy and walking to his room. "Someones grumpy." Lip joked as Allen walked upstairs.

"It's the Hallmark movies. They get to you." Adie laughed. "So tell me, why did Tire try to drop you out of Debbies window?" She asked.

"Got caught in my SAT scam and the dude invalidated everyones scores. Next thing I know, Tires in my house chasing me up to Debbies room and trying to drop me out a window." He explained.

"And you survived?" Adie asked in a joking tone, even though the question wasnt really a joke. Tire was not one of those people you would wanna fuck with, cause he would've dropped Lip out of the window, had it not been for some reason Adelaide was unaware of.

"Carl threatened him with the baseball bat and then bashed him in the knee with it."

"Go Carl!" Adelaide exclaimed. "Yeah, he definitely got rewarded for-" Lip quickly got cut off by a knock at the door.

"Expecting someone?" He asked. Adelaide shook her head as she stood up and walked to the door, opening it to reveal a middle aged man and three teenagers who looked around the same age as Adelaide and Lip.

"Is this the Parker residence?" One of the teen boys asked, Adie nodded with a confused face before looking at the man, who was well cut from what she could see. Expensive clothes, jewelry, an expensive car.

"Mom was right." She breathed out. The man tilted his head. "Mom always said you had a side family. Kids born the same year as me, their mother being moms counselor." Adelaide explained.

"You didn't believe her?" The man asked. Lip had now stood up and began slowly approaching Adelaide, realizing who was at the door. "You know how she is. She told every lie in the book about you, dad. She told Allen that you murdered someone once. He was crying for a week straight." Adelaide scoffed.

"Dad, you didn't tell us that she's-" The girl began. "Also my child? No, I didn't and I didn't tell you about her brother. Just like I never told her about you two." Benjamin sighed.

Adelaide stepped out of the way to let them into the house, and when they did, they noticed Lip, standing awkwardly in front of the couch. "That's her brother?" The girl asked.

"God no, he's my neighbour and he's leaving." Adie said, pushing Lip by the shoulder to the door. "I'll talk to you tomorrow, Lip." She said as he left.

"Hey, Lip, do you think you could get more of those chicken treats? Bongos almost out!" Allen yelled, running down the stairs and into the living room.

"Where's Lip? And who're they?" He asked. "Lip went home and you might wanna sit down, bug." Adelaide said, putting hand on her brothers back.

The six of them all sat down in the living room and stayed in an uncomfortable silence. "You got big, Allen." Benjamin said, breaking the silence. "Who even are you?" Allen question, sass lacing his voice.

Benjamins other daughter stifled a laugh before quickly disguising it as a cough. "Al, that's dad." Adelaide whispered into her brothers ear. "Oh. Well, in that case, thanks for calling the other day." He said with a sad smiled.

Benjamin nodded and cleared his throat. "Oh, and this is Enzo and Betty, they're the other kids Lenora was telling you about." Adelaide nodded and pointed to the other teenage boy sat on her couch, "And him?"

"That's my boyfriend, Cormac." Betty stated with a small smile. "Okay. Well, I'm Adelaide and this is Allen." Adelaide introduced. "And I don't wanna sound like a prick here, Benji, but why are you guys here?" She asked, refusing to call him dad around his other children again.

"You can't do this on your own, Adie. Lenora's not coming back, so the best I can do, as your father, is finally be here for you. Finally do what I never had the balls to do years ago." He explained.

"And I thought, while I'm at it, why not introduce you to Enzo and Betty, cause if you can't have a good relationship with me, you may be able to have a good relationship with them."

"With our half siblings." Adie smiled. Enzo and Betty both nodded. "I mean, when dad told us that he has two other kids that we were gonna meet, I was stoked. Allens a bit younger than I thought, but I've always wanted more siblings. Having a twin gets annoying." Betty explained.

"Hell, I've always wanted a brother, and Allen seems pretty cool, so I might get to achieve that." Enzo ginned at Allen, who grinned back.

"You guys want anything to drink, so we can be a bit more casual about getting to know one another?" Adelaide asked, standing from her spot.

"I'll help you get some, I know what they like." Betty smiled, walking to the kitchen with Adie. "You're sixteen, right?" Betty asked, leaning against the counter as Adelaide opened the fridge. She nodded and pulled out some random drinks.

"You drink beer?" Betty asked. "Yup. Southside Chicago, where even ten year olds can be alcoholics." Adelaide joked. "Are you allowed to drink?"

"Hey dad, can I have a beer with Adelaide?" Betty asked from the kitchen. Benjamin walked into the kitchen and looked at the two girls, "As long as I get one too."

Adelaide handed the two each a beer before reaching into the fridge and grabbing one for herself. "What about Enzo?" She asked. "He ran upstairs with Allen. They were mentioning something about X-men comics." Benjamin explained.

๐“๐‡๐„ ๐‘๐„๐’๐“ ๐Ž๐… that night had been pretty normal, despite the circumstances. The "mixed" family spent most of the night getting to know one another before Benjamin, Enzo, Betty, and Cormac all went back to their hotel.

And a few days later, due to the new responsibilities that had been bestowed upon her, Adelaide was walking to her new job.

It wasn't the best gig she could've picked up, but compared to her other job as a janitor at the shitty K-mart on the other side of town, her new job was heaven.

It was a cashier and shelf stocking gig at the local record store, Armageddon Records, but it was better than K-mart.

Benjamin had advised Adelaide to not take the job, arguing that she didn't have to overwork herself, considering he was around now, he could help with the bills and other payments.

But, despite Benjis best efforts, Adelaide still took the job, and even though it meant missing out on school some days, it was worth it to her. It meant that she could take care of Allen, and Bongo.

Adelaide walked inside the store and took off her beige, knee-length jacket, hanging it off her arm. The brunette walked up to the front desk and leaned over it, looking into the back room.

She knocked on the desk and continued looking through the window, "Anyone here?" She called out, to no avail.

The store was empty, since it was the middle of a Friday, but it appeared that there wasn't even a worker in sight.

"Hello?" She called out, walking around the desk and pushing the employee door open.

The back room was big, a table, six chairs, a full kitchenette, and a flat screen. For southside working conditions, this was definitely the best out there.

Adelaide took her coat and hung it on one of the coat hooks right beside the door and walked over to the table, where a note sat. Adelaide picked up the note and read it over,

"Hey, Adie, sorry I can't be there right now, gotta pick up a shipment, but I know you already got the jist of the job. Its gonna be a slow day so you can work through the crates in the storage room beside the radio booth. Thanks, Denny."

She nodded to herself before placing the note back on the table and walking back out into the store.

For a small store in southern Chicago, the place was big. It fit many shelves, all completely filled with different vinyls, cds, cassettes, the store even carried dvds and vhs tapes.

The store even had a radio booth for fucks sake. The place was literally southside heaven, robbery central.

Adelaide walked across the store to the storage room and pushed the door open, revealing a shit load of crates, all filled with various music or film items.

She swiftly put her hair into a low bun and walked through the room, deciding on which crate to start with.

The bell at the front door rung as Adelaide brought out a crate. "Hey, Denny, sorry i'm late. My stupid dad refused to drive me home from school. He seriously gets on my nerves." A voice sounded out from the back room.

Adelaide set the crate of vinyls on the ground next to a shelf and began putting the vinyls in their designated place.

"Dennys out, gotta get a shipment." The brunette called out, placing a Queen album on the shelf.

"Parker? You work here now?" Rio Lewis questioned, leaning on the doorframe behind the desk.

Rio Lewis. Notorious bad girl. Dysfunctional dealer from a dysfunctional military boot camp of a home. Rio was mostly known around school for dealing to lowlifes and having a terrible father.

Her dad, Maron, was an asshole with a capital A. The biggest douchebag in the southside, which is a label thats hard to get. He ran their house like a military bootcamp. All "yes, sir" and "no, sir." The place somehow seemed worse than the Milkovich household, which was insanely hard to beat.

"Yup. With Lenora out of the picture, I have to find some way to take care of my brother." Adelaide responded, turning to the girl across the store.

Rio nodded and walked to the storage room as Adelaide continued putting different vinyls on the shelf.

The job was quite simple, and taking it up would give Adie time to do homework and other necessary things.

"Hey, I heard a little rumour going 'round the school. Apparently your dad is back in the picture, and he brought along his two other kids?" Rio asked as she placed a crate of vinyls on the ground across from Adie.

Adelaide nodded and picked up a U2 album. "Yeah, Enoch and Elizabeth. Can't forget about Cormac, Bettys boyfriend."

Rio scoffed and placed a few vinyls on the shelf, "Enoch and Elizabeth? Those are the whitest names i've ever heard. Y'know besides fucking Philip and Karen."

"Might wanna rephrase that last part, considering Philip is fucking Karen." Adelaide quipped, taking the last few vinyls out of the crate and placing them on a shelf.

Rio shook her head and looks at Adelaide, "God, that relationship leaves a sour taste on my tongue. It's fucking gross."

Adelaide nodded and picked up the empty crate. She could go on and on about her hatred for Lip and Karens relationship, more specifically, her hatred for Karen Jackson. Adelaide has literally never hated someone more than Karen Jackson, other than her mother.

Karen Jackson was, in Adelaide's eyes, the worst teenager alive, which doesn't come as a shock to anybody. Ever since the blonde pawned Lenoras jewelry, Adelaide has hated her. Theres no redeeming factors about Karen to Adelaide.

And Adelaide knew that Karen was only using Lip for sex, but every time she tried to explain that to him, he never listened. It pissed Adelaide off. She only wanted the best for Lip, and Karen was anything but.
