━︎━︎━︎━︎𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 see things that other's couldn't, you can bet your ass that Nick Fury was going to be interested in it. No one knew how it was that Nick Fury managed to find all of these people, having asked everyone around and no claiming to ever do any work for the man besides the missions they were assigned that usually involved HYDRA and killing them. So it was a wonder how a normal human such as Theodora Knox appeared on his desk in the form of a file that only held a picture of her younger self.
Nick Fury sat his desk for a few moments, taking a few seconds to read over the file and the information that had been supplied to him. Theodora Knox had tried everything in her power to stay hidden. She didn't like what it was that she could do, and Nick Fury couldn't help but be amused and surprised at how much she had accomplished such a task, even though she was as close to normal as a person with powers could get.
The older man couldn't help but wonder what it was that had made her go into hiding. It couldn't have been because of her powers, he knew that for a fact. He had a feeling that there was something else, that it was something that had taken place. An accident maybe. He wasn't sure, but all he knew was that he wanted to find out and he wanted to find her without scaring her away. Because, even though he would never admit this out loud, Nick knew that he tended to scare a lot of people off (not that he didn't enjoy it).
He sat there, narrowing his eyes at the manila folder for a few seconds before he finally decided what it was that needed to be done. And who it was that he was going to send on this mission. For a second he thought about calling in Natasha Romanoff and requesting for the redheaded woman to do it. But this his mind seemed to abruptly change. And as he thought about his decision, he allowed it to play out in his head before he found himself nodding in approval before quickly calling in Clint Barton to enter his office.
The brunette made his way down the halls, entering Nick Fury's often not five minutes later. The assassin's skill was that of a bow and arrow. He shot, and he didn't miss ever. And he planned to keep it that way, so that's why moments before Fury had called him to come to his office he had been sharpening and cleaning his silver arrows―︎Natasha having been cleaning her guns as the two best friends talked to one another like they always did. Which was why the two had shared surprised looks with Fury requested for Clint, and only him.
Mind you, Clint has been on plenty of missions alone, as well as without Natasha. And obviously, he had been the one to bring the woman in. But ever since then, ninety percent of their missions would involve the duo working together, seeing as they seemed to get everything done a lot quicker when it was just the two of them, and Fury liked when a mission could be completed as quickly as possible just so that he could get through the piles of mission that he already had pre-planned for all of his agents, especially the ones pre-planned for Natasha and Clint.
"Sir?" Clint stopped a few inches in front of Fury's desk, standing up straight as he patiently waited for Fury to speak to him before he dared to allow anything else to fall from his lips.
"Agent Barton." Fury greeted, dropping the file onto the desk as he interlaced his fingers and moved his head to look up at Clint. Fury silently nodded towards the chair, and Clint didn't hesitate to sit down, his eyes barely leaving that of his boss.
"New mission?" Clint asked, nodding his head towards the file that Fury had closed moments after setting it down.
"One I believe you can complete within the next twenty-four hours." Fury answered. "Here's your mission." He pushed the file away from him and towards Clint who looked at him for a moment before leaning forwards in order to grab onto it. Fury waited for Clint to open the file before he started speaking once more. "That is Theodora Knox. A woman with extraordinary powers. She can see things that others can't, and that's the gist of what I know. I want you to know exactly what it is that she can do, I want you to find her, bring her back, and try discover why it was that she had went into hiding."
Clint focused on the picture for a few minutes, plucking it from the file and tapping it as he faced it towards Fury with a raised eyebrow. "She's. . . sixteen?"
"She was once, yes." Fury nodded. "Obviously, that photo is old."
"Just making sure." Clint hummed before placing it back into the file. He took a few moments to read through the file, pursing his lips before he finally nodded his head as he closed the folder and placed it back on the desk.
"So, can you do it?"
Clint paused for a moment before he finally nodded his head, looking towards the man. "Yeah. Twenty-four hours." Clint assured him before standing up and grabbing the file once more before leaving the man's office.
