Hiro opened the door to his house cautiously, peeking inside with you and Baymax behind him. He walked in quietly, allowing you to enter as well. You stayed by his side while Baymax stumbled to the left. Hiro pulled him back. "Okay. If my aunt asks, we were at school all day. Got it?"
"We jumped out a window!" Baymax exclaimed.
"No! Quiet! Shh."
"We jumped out a window," Baymax said, this time in a soft whisper.
"You can't say things like that around Aunt Cass," Hiro explained.
"Shh," you shushed the low-power robot, placing a finger over your lips.
"Shhhhhhh..." Baymax repeated. You muffled your giggling as you headed upstairs behind Hiro. Shortly after, you heard a thud, turning around to see Baymax face-planted into one of the steps. "Shhhhhhh..." he says again, flopping back up.
"Hiro?" Cass called from upstairs. Hiro gasped. "You home with (Y/N), sweetie?"
"That's right," he replied hesitantly.
"I thought I heard you. Hi," she greeted, noticing you and Hiro at the top of the stairs.
"H-Hey, Aunt Cass," he said, shifting his position uncomfortably.
"Hi, Cass," you addressed in a friendly tone, hoping to distract from Hiro's nerves.
"Ooh, look at my little college kids. Ah, I can't wait to hear all about it!" she joyfully remarked. "Oh, and wings are almost ready."
"Whee!!" Baymax yelled, appearing at the top of the stairs.
"Will you be quiet?!" Hiro muttered, pushing him back down.
"Yeah, wings! Whee!" Aunt Cass responded, much to your relief. Hiro chuckled awkwardly.
While she was busy with finalizing her cooking, you and Hiro used this time as an opportunity to get Baymax out of the way.
"Alright, get ready to have your faces melted! We are going to feel these things tomorrow, you know what I'm saying?" Cass said. You and Hiro attempted to drag Baymax across the room while she was occupied. You spun around with Hiro and the robot, somehow ending up in a dip in Hiro's arms. Blushing, you scrambled to return upright and pushed Baymax behind Cass's line of sight. After going back and forth a few times, you finally managed to shove the robot upstairs.
"Okay. Sit down, tell me everything," she said as she finished preparing. You noticed her confused expression as you returned downstairs with Hiro a moment later. He laughed nervously, rocking back and forth on his heels.
"Um... the thing is that, since we registered so late, we've got a lot of school stuff to catch up on," he lied. You nodded in confirmation, smiling slightly. Thud.
"What was that?" Cass asked, looking towards the top of the stairs.
You and Hiro knew that it was indeed Baymax. Instead, you replied, "Mochi."
"Oh, that darn cat!"
Cass seemed convinced, which was relieving. "At least take a plate for the road, okay?"
You elbowed Hiro once she turned around, for the fat cat was affectionately rubbing against your legs. Hiro picked him up, and, in one swift throw, he was upstairs. You dismissed that and walked over to Cass to grab the plate of food for you both.
"Don't work too h—"
"Thanks for understanding," Hiro cut her off, quickly heading back up the stairs. You smiled at Cass as a thanks and then followed Hiro.
Placing the food down, you helped Baymax to his charger. You had found him with Mochi in his lap, chiming, "Hairy baby! Hairy baby..."
"Alright, come on," Hiro said, helping you pick up Baymax.
"I'm healthcare, your personal Baymax companion..."
"One foot in front of the other," you instructed as you led him towards the charging station. After a few tries, he stepped in and began to charge and re-inflate.
Hiro flopped onto his bed and exhaled deeply. You sat down near him at the edge of the bed.
"This doesn't make any sense," Hiro said. He took out the microbot and sighed once more. You rested a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"Tadashi and Kori," Baymax wondered aloud, looking into his part of the bedroom. Hiro's eyes snapped open.
"What?"
"Tadashi and Kori."
"Tadashi and Kori are gone," Hiro informed the robot, standing up and closing the divider.
"When will they return?"
Oh man, you thought, this robot is making my heart swell up. "They're dead, Baymax," you clarified sadly.
"Tadashi and Kori were in excellent health. With a proper diet and exercise, they should have lived long lives."
"Yeah, they should have. But there was a fire, and... now they're gone," Hiro painfully explained. You tried to hold back your tears. The agonizing memories were flooding back to you...
"Tadashi and Kori are here," Baymax insisted.
"No. People keep saying that they're not really gone, as long as we remember them," Hiro objected. "It still hurts." You got up and wrapped your arms around his neck, embracing him, burying your head into his chest in an attempt to lessen your own misery. He put an arm around your waist in return.
"I see no evidence of physical injury."
"It's a different kind of hurt," you mumbled softly. Hiro took your hands in his.
"You are my patients. I would like to help," Baymax told you both, stepping out of the charger.
"You can't fix this one, buddy," Hiro dismally replied.
We heard a mechanical whirring from behind, and turned around to see Baymax downloading something from Hiro's computer. "Uh, what are you doing?" Hiro queried.
"I am downloading a database on personal loss. Database downloaded. Treatments include contact with friends and loved ones. I am contacting them now."
"No, no, no! I... don't do that!" Hiro went over to Baymax to try to prevent him from doing so.
"Your friends have been contacted," Baymax notified.
"Unbelievable."
Then, Baymax pulled the two of you into a hug. "Now what are you doing?"
"Other treatments include compassion and physical reassurance," the robot continued.
"We're okay, really," Hiro insisted.
"You will be alright. There, there." He patted Hiro's head, and you giggled.
"There, there," you imitated, patting his fluffy hair.
"Thanks, guys."
"I am sorry about the fire," Baymax apologized.
"It's okay, it was an accident," you answered him.
After a moment of silence, Hiro spoke up. "Unless... un-unless it wasn't," he said, walking over to the microbot and picking it up. "At the showcase, that guy in the mask stole our microbots. And... and then set the fire to cover his tracks," Hiro reasoned, "he's responsible for Tadashi and Kori. We've got to catch that guy." He looked over at you and Baymax. The robot blinked and you raised your eyebrows.
Ultimately, you decided to head downstairs. You all quietly crept down, passing Cass watching the television. Mochi was in her lap, purring as he was stroked.
It's alive, it's alive! It's alive! It's alive!
You walked behind Cass in the glow of the screen. Baymax was about to head over to her when he heard a scream from the television, but you yanked him down the stairs instead.

"If we're gonna catch that guy, you need some upgrades," you informed the two. Hiro pressed some buttons on a small device and used it to scan Baymax.
"Will apprehending the man in the mask improve your emotional states?" the robot questioned.
"Absolutely," Hiro responded, sitting down at one of his workplaces and sliding to another. "Let's work on your moves."
He prepared a new chip for Baymax that would contain karate moves. He synced the robot's body with a martial artist's from a video and began capturing the skills.
"Now let's work on this," you suggested, poking Baymax's round, vinyl stomach. He had also decided to poke his own stomach. You went over to another one of Hiro's many monitors and designed armor. Hiro helped print and finalize it, and, lastly, you put it on Baymax.
"I have some concerns. This armor may undermine my non-threatening, huggable design," he said, testing some movements from within the armor.
"That's kind of the idea, buddy," you reminded.
"You look sick," Hiro remarked.
"I cannot be sick. I am a robot."
"It's just an expression."
Data transfer complete, a computer-automated voice indicated. Hiro printed a red chip and drew a skull and crossbones on it. He stood up, making his way to Baymax and opening his access port. He froze when he saw the green chip that read Tadashi and Kori. You walked to his side and put an arm around his shoulders for comfort. He placed the new chip inside and pushed it in.
It took a moment for Baymax to analyze the chip. "I fail to see how karate makes me a better healthcare companion," he commented.
"You want to keep us healthy, don't you?" Hiro told him, and you laughed.
"These two things are definitely related."
"Punch this," Hiro instructed, holding out a wooden board. Baymax obliged, splitting the board in two. "Yes!"
As you called out attacks, Baymax practiced them on several pieces of wood. "Hammerfist!"
"Side kick!"
"Knife hand!"
"Back kick!"
"Gummy bears!" Hiro exclaimed. You gave him a puzzled look, raising an eyebrow. Baymax went over to Hiro's vending machine to retrieve a package of gummy bears. "Yes!"
"Hiro Hamada, you are something else."
A short time after, Baymax stood in the garage, practicing a sequence of fighting moves. When he finished, Hiro grabbed your hand, stepped forward, and bowed to the robot. "Yeah! Fist bump!" Hiro held out his fist.
"'Fist bump' is not in my fighting database," Baymax stated.
"No, this isn't a fighting thing," you explained, "it's what people do sometimes when they're excited or pumped up!" You demonstrated with Hiro, and then he tried one with Baymax.
"Ba-da-la-la-la," Baymax finished.
"Hey, now you're getting it!"
"I will add 'fist bump' to my caregiving matrix."
"All right. Let's go get that guy."
