Chapter 3

"That's all for today. Class dismissed." Mr Kim waved us off as we all dispersed, the silent atmosphere breaking as everyone began talking to their friends while leaving the campus.

Standing up, I sighed in contentment as I stretched a little. Sitting for a couple of hours continuously can be pretty tiring.

"Alright, guys! I got to go to the cafe. Bye!" Jungkook waved quickly before running out of the building to the familiar cafe.

His part-time job was being a cashier at the Dream Mocha Cafe. And you have no idea how many customers he attracts thanks to his visuals and charm.

"We should go too," Taehyung said, getting up from his seat before pulling me away from our class.

"Where are we going?" I asked for no reason since I already knew where we were going.

"The janitor's closet," Taehyung said sarcastically, making me wiggle my eyebrows at him.

"I had no idea you were into that stuff. Especially with me." I smirked.

"What can I say? My standards have fallen drastically." He said, making me huff.

"I reject you then," I said.

"I reject rejection." Taehyung shrugged, making me chuckle. I pushed open the library with the utmost care, making sure there was no noise. I hate it when it's so silent and then I do something stupid so everyone turns to look at me.

The embarrassment is real.

"Shh." The librarian shushed, even though we didn't even say a word after entering.

Blinking, we decided to ignore that and wore our ID's before getting to work.

"Try to maintain the silent atmosphere from next time." Ms Oh told us while smiling before leaving.

"But we didn't even make any noise- never mind." Tae waved it off before going to get the new books that came in this week.

I took my usual place near the desk, making sure I have everything. Sighing, I prepared for the usual boring day near the checkout point.

Boy, was I proven wrong.

Because the next moment, we heard a screech from one of the professors.

After making eye contact with Tae who was across the desk near a bookshelf, we both rushed together to see an amusing yet scarring sight.

We have one of our most strict professors on the ground, covering her eyes as if she would go blind if she opened them. She kept screeching every 5 seconds.

The poor two students who hoped to make out in the wrong place at the wrong time were also scarred at being caught by her put of all people. Rushing out together before they could get in more trouble, they left us alone with a screeching mess.

Everyone turned to look in our direction as I tried to calm the professor down.

"Ma'am please calm do-"

"AHHHHH!" She took a deep breath. "AHHHHH!" Another deep breath. "MY EYES!"

"Your eyes will be fine dammit- ma'am. They're gone." I said, thankful that she didn't catch my small slip up.

"No no! You don't get it. MY EYES!"

"Oh my God. Maam, with all due respect, you have 3 kids. I'm sure you've done more scarring things than you've seen right now. Technically it isn't against the rules and people at this age are stupid and tend to make mistakes. It happens. We just have to move on-" While Taehyung was passionately ranting, I picked up the book which was thrown onto the ground.

A red colour powder slightly rose into the air, making me sneeze. My nose burned, and I sneezed a few more times.

I looked properly to see it was red chilli powder. Thanking the universe for making me wear my glasses today so my eyes wouldn't burn, I scowled.

This is such an immature prank. A good book is ruined now, so I have to place an order for a new one and try to find out who did this to reprimand them.

So troublesome. Damn immature brats-

My eyes widened in realization as to why the poor woman was screeching so bad.

It wasn't the students that caught her off guard, it was the chilli powder.

And it was burning her eyes right now, as she was screaming.

"Taehyung-" I tried stopping him from unnecessarily ranting.

"So that is why I seriously believe that the situation isn't that bad-"

"Tae listen-"

"-of course, your generation must've been different and-"

"Kim Taehyung listen to me-"

"-you were expected to do what was socially acceptable all the time but times have ch- ouch!" He yelped as I hit him with a book. Slightly glaring at me, he rubbed the sore spot.

"An encyclopedia. That's harsh." He complained as I put the heavy book away with care.

"It's Code 7, now help me out," I said, gesturing to the woman on the floor who was still screeching.

Code 7: Where a teacher or student has been embarrassed due to a prank and needs to be escorted out immediately so that the library can regain its peace.

Internally sighing about how annoying this whole ordeal is, I apologized to everyone in the library and took the ruined book with me. Taehyung led the teacher out while repeatedly apologizing, making me snort quietly.

Dumbass.

Turning around, I was surprised as I bumped into Jungkook and just managed to catch myself in time.

I sighed in relief that I didn't fall on my butt. That would've been embarrassing.

The same can't be said for Jungkook.

I watched as it happened in slow motion. He was falling backwards with his eyes wide and his hand reaching out to me, begging me to take it.

I gave him a thumbs up and walked away as he fell on his butt, hissing in pain.

"Could've helped me." He grumbled before getting up. I shushed him since people were looking at us due to all the chaos.

"Hell no. You would've just pulled me with you. I'd rather have one person hurt than two." I whispered.

"You're gonna end up alone with 7 cats. You have no sense of romance." He muttered in a low voice that gave me chills.

"What are you doing here anyway?" I whisper asked, taking out a mask and putting it on. I took the book with the chilli powder and threw it into the ziplock bag, closing it and putting it away in the 'pranks' drawer.

"The Cafe is closed today. I wasn't notified."

"Well, that's what happens when you don't check your phone for emails and stalk your crush instead like a creep." I shook my head.

"I don't stalk her!" He defended loudly, making me shush him. He mouthed a 'sorry' and pretended to zip his lips with a cute smile, making me curse my existence.

Dammit, I'm smitten.

"Sure. It's not like you scroll through her Instagram account every day and stare at the same pictures like a puppy." I whispered before pausing. "Oh wait, you do."

He stayed silent, knowing I was right.

"What are you both doing?" Taehyung asked standing right behind me. I gave a small startled jump and Jungkook almost fell again.

"You're back early. When did you even come in?" I asked, sitting near the table.

"Right when Jungkook fell on his butt. That was amusing to see." He replied, making me chuckle.

"I hate you both," Jungkook muttered angrily.

"We love you too~" Taehyung and I said in unison.

I let them both talk as I got to work, making sure all the books were checked in before the deadline and all the new arrivals were put up properly.

Helping out a few students and professors by finding the books they need and getting them checked out, I calmly did my daily work.

This continued for about an hour where I issued books to people and Taehyung arranged the books neatly on the bookshelves. Jungkook quietly sat down with a book and began reading, waiting for us to be done with our shift.

Finally, two other students who work the next shift came in. I passed out the ID card to one of them, leaving the desk after clearing up any mess I made. Tapping Jungkook's shoulder to tell him that I'm done, I walk out of the library.

"I have never stayed this silent in my whole life. Not even in my sleep." Jungkook said, rubbing his eyes as he followed me.

"Mood." Taehyung snorted. "Let me get my camera." He said before running off to his locker.

"Mine too!" Jungkook and I shouted in unison as Taehyung gave us a thumbs up.

Jungkook and I walked together, feeling no need to initiate a conversation. The silence was comfortable, and we didn't need words to enjoy each other's presence.

It's during these quiet moments when my heart decides to remind me of my love for him that I desperately try to forget. And yet, I fail every single time.

I'm just glad that this love doesn't interfere with my studies or I'd be dead at the hands of my mother.

I tried to ignore the fluttering of my heart as he came closer and threw an arm around my shoulder, quietly humming to himself.

To us, this was supposed to be a normal gesture. To everyone, it was just a close friendship. To him, it was a habit.

To me, it was way more.

Trying to calm my heart down, I silently take slow deep breaths. Seeing Taehyung arrive, I mentally sighed in relief and happiness.

I love him and his right sense of time.

"You both have one chance to back out right now because this is going to take quite a bit of time," Taehyung warned.

Jungkook and I looked at each other blankly, knowing that we weren't allowed to back away anyway. Like hell, he would allow us.

"Of course not Taehyung." I finally said, making him smile his cute boxy smile. Ruffling his hair again, I got ready for the hell we were about to face.

Getting a perfect shot is not an easy task, and we all knew it. Especially for us.

Will we give up though?

Nah.

Bring the pain on, yeah.
