For me personally, I've always felt some sort of unexplainable connection with things revolving around aspects of nature. Animals, plants, natural old age ways of living, and a fascination with the idea of gods, goddesses, and other deities. That and I have a friend that began practicing before me and drew interest from them as well.

I am what is called a hedgewitch. Very similar to green witches.

There are many, many different types out there.

𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬? 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨?
This is unfortunately a very frequently asked and immature question but alas lmao. No, we do not fly on broomsticks and I have actually never heard of someone even mastering 'levitation'.

My practices revolve heavily around nature and home. Hedgewitches have connections to their homes that can be just as strong as one with nature. Since I have only been at this for almost a year, I'm still learning and will likely never stop learning. There is always something new to learn, even for the most seasoned and experienced witches. I like to do a lot with plants, herbs, and natural healing remedies(which I'm very big on). I have an entire plant encyclopedia and a couple of herbal books. I grow a flower garden and herb garden during the summer which then allows me to incorporate a bit of magic and bonding with each individual plant to ensure their growth. Hedgewitches believe there are spirits within things like plants, trees, animals, and even in our homes and believe the better our connection to them, the more they will be willing to protect us and our home. Those are the spirits we like to welcome into our houses. I am also currently learning how to read each individual sign in nature. From tracking, predicting the weather, to locating water. I also dry my own plants/herbs and use them for remedies and cooking. I've only recently got into crystals and even learning how to make candles.

𝐈𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬/𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜?

All witchcraft can be dangerous as you are dealing with otherworldly powers and forces. But it is not all 'satanic' or 'of the devil'. Witchcraft has existed for centuries upon centuries and there were and still are Christian witches. Those who are followers of Christ and still practice witchcraft. Yeah, it's a thing lmao. It does happen. Holy figures have used magic since the beginning of time in the form of healing and other things.

Witchcraft isn't for those who just want to be the 'cool' one in their friend group or whatever. It's a serious practice that can be very dangerous, as I mentioned before. When you start getting into actual spellwork and divination is when you have to be careful. Spells can take months to years of practice and without proper guidance and education, it is very easy to mess up. Messing up with witchcraft is something you want to avoid at all costs. There are many different things that could go wrong and the following are just a handful;

— An incorrectly worded spell meant for one thing but triggers something unintentional.

— Welcoming the wrong spirit. I do not and will not ever touch a ouija board. That thing is the gateway to something evil and I personally just do not recommend it at all.

— Somehow gaining access to the dark side of the 'spirit plane' or getting stuck. This usually happens when inexperienced witches try to do astral projection. This is an actual thing one can do to cause their spirit to leave their body at their own will and literally travel to other places. It is possible for this to go horribly wrong resulting in you being faced with actual demons and getting stuck.

There are, of course, darker forms of magic that are meant to connect with evil. This is usually voodoo, blood magic, and things involving curses/hexes. Mostly any black magic is usually used for no good and can actually hurt people. Some witches(and I've heard of normal people doing this) actually do call upon demons to possess them so they can use their power. If you've ever heard of a certain celebrity selling their soul, it may more than likely be true oop—

𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐫?

A lot of us believe it is possible to develop some kind of connection and deepened bond with an animal; usually a pet. However, it can take a long time to finally stumble upon a creature that actually comes to form that connection with you. I felt it strongly with my late dog and ever since he passed away last July, I have yet to establish another connection. Yes, I do have pets; a cat, bearded dragon, and three Nicaragua pumilio dart frogs. While I love them all deeply, that specific connection isn't there with any of them, if that makes sense.

I wouldn't say I'm necessarily afraid since I want to make sure I'm doing and performing everything correctly. It's more like I'm always thinking of the 'what if's'. Getting involved with demonic shit isn't exactly something doctors can cure lmao. Though hedgewitches tend to use green magic and you'd have to actually be trying hard to mess something up.

Gonna be honest and say, anyone can curse people if they know exactly what to do aha. I like to think of hedgewitches as peaceful and I've never really heard of any actually 'cursing' people. Cursing is a form of dark magic and I do not dabble in that shit, as I said before.

But to answer the general question, yes. Witches can curse people, especially if they work with demons.

Again, NOPE. That's dangerous waters that I don't visit and never will.

However, a lot of people do talk to them at least through the aforementioned ouija board. Those who are 'sensitive' may often be able to see apportions.

At first, I started out following Apollo as at the time, I was very focused on the art of healing. Though I also came to discover Pan; the god of nature, and wanted to see if they would work together so I could follow them both. However, with research, I learned Pan and Apollo do not get along and in the witch community, if you are wanting to follow more than one deity, it is recommended you make sure they are compatible.

So, I am now only strictly following Pan.
