β SKYLER SALVATORE WAS BORN NOVEMBER 1ST, 1846 β
to her parents, Lily and Giuseppe Salvatore, exactly five minutes after her older brother, Stefan Salvatore, was born. She was born crying and screaming, as though the world had already hurt her. Her screams went ignored as her father fawned over his son. Her mother, infuriated by her husband's ignorance, held her newborn daughter close until her crying ceased.
Her father was not a kind man, had never pretended to be even from the moment she was born, it wasn't a surprise to her when he started abusing his children after their mother passed away when the twins were 12. The abuse was mainly focused on Damon, the eldest, and Skyler. Damon had always been rebellious and snarky, he got on their fathers nerves without even trying... and when he tried β lit cigarettes pressed to Damon's arm, the smell of burnt flesh and smoke β it was never any good. Skyler never tried to get on their fathers nerves, the only reason she did was because she was naturally independent and strong, and frankly a little too much like her mother. It was never as bad as with Damon, but she still felt the sting.
However our story is not about Skyler's human life, no, our story is about what happened after Skyler was killed and turned into a vampire. More precisely, it's about what happened over a hundred years later when she returned to the town where it all began β in Mystic Falls, Virginia.

"Stefan, Damon... I'm sorry." Elena Gilbert, a woman who looked shockingly like Katherine Petrova, the vampire who turned the Salvatore siblings in 1864, apologized.
"No..."
"She's gone." Elena said, tense and apologetic as she stood in front of the brothers with a guilt stricken face. "Skyler's dead." She whispered.
"NO!"

Oops, that's not where our story begins. It's where it ends. Our story begins a few years before, in Los Angeles, California.
"Absolutely not." Skyler Mikaelson fumed, stubbornness and rage fueling her as she stood sternly in the Mikaelson Manor in Los Angeles California, her favorite of the many Mikaelson homes and their newest home, with her arms crossed over her stomach, her eyes narrowed in a cold glare that would make any normal person quiver, however the Mikaelsons had never been normal people, least of all Niklaus Mikaelson.
She had previously been sitting down on the love seat beside her husband, Kol Mikaelson, however, upon hearing what her best friend and brother-in-law, Niklaus Mikaelson, had to stay she had abruptly stood up, ready to run at any second although they all knew she wouldn't go far.
Niklaus sighed in exasperation, they had discussed the matter for the past few weeks, Skyler had clearly yet to agree but time was running out as fast as Klaus's patience, "It is not up to you, Skyler. This is something good for the whole family." He told her sternly, his tone leaving no room for argument or discussion, though he knew Skyler would find a way to anyway, "Why must you argue?"
Skyler scoffed, shaking her head incredulously, "You know damn well it isn't just up to you either, and besides I never agreed to go to Mystic Hell in the first place, Klaus you know that."
"It's Falls love." Kol called out with an easy smirk knowing she hadn't made a mistake.
Skyler turned her glare onto him making him shiver in both excitement and a tinge of fear, "I know what I said." She hissed before turning back to Niklaus, her glare going colder with time, "You of all people know what I think of that place Nik!"
Niklaus nodded, standing up as well to become eye level with his best and only friend.
"I know what it means and I know of your promise to never return, but you don't have a choice, we don't have a choice." He told her his tone only a tad softer, "in order to find the doppelgΓ€nger, and break the curse, you must return to Mystic Falls, but I promise it will only be for a little while." He would never show how he could be with his best friend in front of his siblings, though he knew they knew but it didn't stop him from hiding it still.
Kol stood behind her, a comforting and supporting presence that was alway present by her side, while Elijah and Rebekah stood to the side, slightly confused, they had both recently been undaggered by Klaus to make sure everything went to plan, though it did take some encouragement on Skyler's part for him to take the leap and wake his siblings, they both knew it would be for the best in the end.
"I can't go there Nik." Skyler pleaded desperately, her angered facade dropping as she showed how upset his demand made her in hopes that β by some miracle β he would change his mind and send someone else or at least send someone with her.
Of course, she wasn't that lucky, though he did bring her some comfort as he stepped forward, taking her hands in his as he whispered something only for her ears. If it was anyone else, Kol thought, he'd be jealous right now, possessiveness creeping up as he fought the urge to pull his bonded into his arms, but he knew of the bond they shared, one of chosen family, and he knew his older brother was no threat to the bond he shared with his wife β the bond of soulmates. His jealousy over their bond had long since faded as the bond between soulmates grew stronger.
Klaus continued, holding her hands lightly in his, "But there's a doppelgΓ€nger there and this may be my only chance to unlock my other side, to unlock my true potential."
Skyler spoke tenser than they had seen in a long time, "When do I leave?"
You see, history has a funny way of repeating itself. Skyler died in Mystic Falls, Virginia in 1864, because of Katherine Petrova, and over a hundred years later, she returned to the town when history began to repeat itself as her brothers fell for Katherine's doppelgΓ€nger.
She knew nothing good would come of her return to the hellish town, however she never expected it to be the cause of her demise, yet again because of Katherine's doppelgΓ€nger. Perhaps she was merely cursed, perhaps all Salvatore's were. Forced to repeat history every time they return to the town where it all began.
Perhaps the true cause of her demise was not the Petrova doppelgΓ€nger, but rather the simple fact that she was the Salvatore Sister.
I suppose, in this story, we shall find out.
