Fourth
:Chapter Four:

ย  ย ย  "Hey, Jeongguk," the aforementioned heard his name, frowning. He turned around, being greeted by the one guy who showed him around yesterday. Not Hoseok but the other one. Today was his very second day of school here, still getting used to everything.

Being greeted by someone who actually used his name wasn't something he was accustomed to.

"Oh, um, hi . . ." He waited for the teenager to catch up to his side. "What's up?"

"Namjoon, by the way, just in case you forgot my name." He said with a smile, Jeongguk hesitantly returning one. "So, how was your first day? How was classes and baseball practice? Everything you hoped for?"

"Right, Namjoon. Well, it wasn't anything exciting. Practice was fun at first until the one dude totally decided to shit on me." Jeongguk shrugged like it was nothing.

"Really? Usually the baseball team is awesome with communication and teamwork. Surprised to even hear someone doesn't like you. I thought you were pretty cool!"

"I think you're cool too, the guy was mad at me because I hit further than he did. At least I think. He was cool with me until soft toss started, then he hated me. I don't care, I just thought it was weird."

Then, Namjoon frowned at the words the younger said. He felt confused. "Taehyung? The captain? He's about your height, talks to Hoseok-"

"Yeah, him." Jeongguk nodded his head to signal who he was talking about. "He wasn't a good sport about it at all."

"Um, well, that's weird." Commented the older. "Taehyung usually is a sweetheart. He's a great baseball player and- wow. I'll talk to him about it, maybe when I have lunch with him." He looked away, staring ahead. It was surprising Taehyung was mean to someone. He made it a point to talk to him about it during lunch. "Don't worry about it for now. I'm sure it was a bad day or something. You should talk to Yoongi. I think you two would be great friends! He's the one I told you that plays basketball."

Jeongguk let out a hum. Don't get him wrong, he appreciated Namjoon's attempts at making his time here memorable by helping him make friends and assisting him but the younger felt like he was more than capable of doing things on his own.

"What's your next class?" The elder asked, looking at Jeongguk for a second before forwarding his gaze. "I have pre-calculus next."

The black-haired teenager paused for a moment, reaching his hand into his pocket to retrieve his schedule. His eyes scanned over the wrinkled timesheet, checking for period four. "Korean literature then lunch. Is your lunch fifth period too?"

"Yup! Perhaps we can have lunch together, hmm?" Namjoon suggested in a friendly way, keeping his sweet smile plastered on his face like it was second nature to him. His dimples really made his smile bright.

"Didn't you say you were going to talk to the captain? I don't really want to sit with you and him. I think I'll just try to make other friends and sit with them if you don't mind." Jeongguk wasn't one to chase after people to be his friend, certainly not the ones who made Jeongguk an enemy for no reason whatsoever. At least reasons what weren't apparent.

"If you change your mind or don't mind sitting there, we sit at the table in the back by the big windows, closest to the exit. It's not only me and Taehyung, Hoseok would be there too and you guys seemed to hit it off." Namjoon shrugged. "Sorry for eating away at your time, though, this is my stop. I'll see you later!" And with those words, he walked into the room which Jeongguk assumed was pre-calculus.

The younger didn't even get to bid goodbyes for Namjoon was scurried into the classroom.

He watched his back and shook his head, walking away to get to his own class.

Jeongguk may have seemed a bit stubborn which those assumptions would be correct in more ways than one but he was new to this school and trying to get around just like everyone else.

He already had an enemy which still made him question the reason why, and he felt like he was having his hand held by every person around him.

The only one who didn't dare help him with baby steps was the captain of the baseball team, also known as his enemy which he, Jeongguk, ultimately decided he should refer him as.

For two reasons. One because he was, and two because he couldn't remember his name despite it being pretty common and said multiple times. Jeongguk would figure out a different nickname to give when the time came around, but until then, 'enemy' worked just fine.

It sucked, too. The transferee actually thought the dude was pretty chill at first. He had a great sense of humor, seemed relaxed, and was friends with Hoseok who Jeongguk actually liked. He believed he could make good friends at this school.

That up until Jeongguk hit further than the captain and the said captain being outraged after that point on.

Without a further argument, the two were deemed as enemies. A ridiculous term to describe their distaste but rather humorous all at the same time. Again, Jeongguk didn't quite mind calling the captain that.

It would have to work. Something Jeongguk wasn't afraid to admit, though, is that he thought a little 'drama' wouldn't be too bad. He never had someone not like him.

Okay, that possibly was a lie, but let him re-explain.

He never had someone dislike him straight off the bat, no explanation, no reason, just out of blue with hatred. It was weird, and, pun intended, right from left field.

Usually, if someone didn't like him, it was because he had made some girl crush over him while she had a boyfriend or because of his overly confident behavior.

Jeongguk himself knew how cocky he could come off as but when you were as good as he was at things, appeared the way he did, it was hard not to boast over the things he had in the bag. He also knew that the world didn't revolve around him and others were working just as hard to be known as good.

With knowing as much as he did, he did grow up and learn to share the spotlight; allow others to bathe in the praises that he was way too familiar with.

Younger Jeongguk would've hogged it all up, grabbed and gripped at everything that was spilt to him that held even just a little bit of praise.

Looking back at it now, the raven-haired teen learned he definitely didn't know too much about how 'sharing equals caring' and that he could praise himself along with others, he wasn't the center of attention.

Regardless, however, Jeongguk still greedily received compliments, just not as loud as he use to if that makes much sense. To the aforementioned it did, though.

ย  ย ย  Moving on from his thoughts, he walked a bit faster to get to his Korean Literature class. Unfortunately for him, he managed to get lost, somehow on the other end of the school.

It were times like this where he regret telling himself he didn't need Namjoon's assist because here he was, walking into some random teacher's classroom in order to ask for some help.

"And then, after that, you'll-" the female teacher turned her attention, along with the rest of the class, to the door that was just pulled open. "Oh, welcome! How can I help you?" She asked.

"Look at that, it's your bestie." Hoseok nudged a dazed Taehyung who, beyond the newly made beef regarding the transfer student, was dreaming about baseball practice later on. His love, life, and desire. God, he loved baseball.

The aforementioned glanced over, frowning. Hoseok was his 'bestie' so who on earth was he speaking on? It didn't take long for Taehyung to look over and see Newbie standing there, browns pinched and lips turned downward into a frown.

"Why is he here?" Taehyung asked back in a whisper. "Doesn't matter." He interrupted before Hoseok could make a smart-mouthed remark.

"I hate to bother, Miss, really do, but I don't know where my next class is and I'm already late." Newbie spoke softly but loud enough for the teacher and some students to hear.

The teacher hummed, walking over and asking for Jeongguk's schedule which was gladly handed over. "You're on the wrong end of the school, sweetie." She informed, looking up and scanning her eyes over the class. "Mr. Jung," she called out.

Hoseok looked up, Taehyung keeping a firm stare at Jeongguk who already noticed his presence too but didn't acknowledge it unlike Taehyung who made a face of disgust.

"Would you be a dear and guide . . . Um, what's your name?" Her attention went back at Newbie who introduced himself to her. She continued. "Jeongguk here to his next class?" She asked kindly.

Hoseok smiled, nodding and pushing himself from his desk. "I'll be back, you're first love needs help around the school." He winked at Taehyung who shared the look of disgust with Hoseok, rolling his eyes.

The older hopped up and left the class with Jeongguk who thanked him countlessly.

"How do you even end this far off the map?" Chuckled Hoseok, shaking his head in disbelief. "Did you just not care?"

"Namjoon hyung stopped me and I thought I was going the right way until I noticed I didn't know any of the hallways I was walking in. What class were you just in?" Jeongguk asked, walking tall.

"That was mine and Taehyung's elective. STEM but he wants to drop it. The only reason he's this far into it is because I actually like science." Hoseok shrugged. "He doesn't like science at all."

This made Jeongguk hum, not knowing what more to say about the situation. It was going back to silence before Hoseok broke it once more.

"I believe you and him stepped on the wrong foot. You two definitely have lovers compatibility." The elder had a sly smile playing his lips.

The younger scoffed, shaking his head. "You're going to have a lover compatibility with my fist if you don't shut up already about that. It was funny at first, hyung, but now you're pushing it. It's clear that Cap wants nothing to do with me and that's fine, let it be."

"It's ironic because 'Cap' said something similar. He said that me and the dirt beneath my feet made a pretty cute couple and he had no issue introducing us to one another sooner than later."

"I'll agree with him this one time." Jeongguk muttered, following Hoseok down hallways that actually looked right.
