Fifty-Ninth
:Chapter Fifty-Nine:
ย ย ย By right around the corner, prom was here. It was the day of prom and Jeongguk couldn't explain the type of nerves he had bubbling throughout him.
He was nervous for a few reasons, one of the main reasons would be seeing Taehyung. Believe it or not, they haven't hung out outside of school since their date. With things being in the way, one being planning from prom, they just didn't have the time.
So, Jeongguk almost couldn't wait to see the boy all dressed up and looking pretty. He didn't know what color theme Jihyun and Taehyung were going for but he just knew they would look nice regardless.
ย ย ย Jeongguk sighed and looked himself in the mirror one last time, straightening out his suit jacket and smoothing his hair.
Hoseok picked out a really nice, well fitted all black suit for Jeongguk. It hugged his small waist and outlined his muscles in his arms and thighs.
And, so they wouldn't look like they were attending a funeral, Hoseok tied it all together with a muted gold tie. He also recommended Jeongguk wear pretty gold earrings.
The younger wanted to get a haircut to look clean but Hoseok recommended that he put half of his hair up into a man-bun situation with a few loose strands in the front.
To Jeongguk's surprise, he liked it significantly. He didn't think Hoseok would be this intuitive with his fashion sense but he was and man, did Jeongguk look good.
ย ย ย "Gooie," Jaeyong peaked into Jeongguk's room, looking for his brother. He then gasped loudly after seeing him. "Woah! Gooie! You look so handsome!" He fully entered the room, looking his brother up and down with his huge, lit-up eyes.
Jeongguk chuckled, looking over. "Do I? Do you like it?" He asked to his brother, going over and picking him up.
Jaeyong nodded excitedly, feeling on the suit. "Yes!" He claimed, his lips parted in awe as he admired his brother in the formal black attire.
The older Jeon couldn't help his joyous cheesy grin as his brother praised him. His brother was so cute and it warmed his heart.
"Show dad!" Jaeyong told, slipping out of Jeongguk's arms before he took a hold of his hand and began to tug him towards the door. He held his hand the entire way down the steps into the kitchen where their dad resided.
The old man was sipping on some decaffeinated coffee while reading newspaper that was probably three days old. His glasses hung low on the bridge of his nose, eyes downward as he read through the sport section.
"Daddy! Look at Gooie!" Jaeyong finally released Jeongguk's hand to run over to his father, patting his arm as to urge him to look up.
With that, the man looked on over at his eldest son, instantly lighting up.
"Oh my, you look so clean!" Their father complimented. "I like the all black look, did you pick it out?"
"Ah, no, Hoseok hyung picked it out for me." Jeongguk corrected, doing a small three-sixty to show off all his angles.
"Is that one your boyfriend? Well, your 'boyfriend'?" Mr. Jeon inquired. He still wasn't sure what type of situation the two were in. He was always sure not the pester Jeongguk about anything. He would only intervene when he was approached about it by his son, other than that, he tried to give his son his privacy.
"No, just a friend. My 'boyfriend' is going with his ex-girlfriend." Jeongguk, though Hoseok assured him the other night, was still jealous and salty about the ordeal. It was the mere thought of it, really.
Mr. Jeon frowned, not quite understanding. "His ex-girlfriend? And why is that?"
"It's a really long story if I'm being honest, dad. Hoseok's going to be here any moment now and I don't think there's enough time to explain." As if on cue, there was a firm knock at the door, signifying Hoseok's arrival.
Jeongguk went over to the door, his father and younger brother following right behind. Mr. Jeon was pulling out his phone, wanting to take photos of his son and friend. It was so cute of them to attend together.
"Hey, hyung," Jeongguk greeted as he opened the door, allowing the elder into his home.
Hoseok wore something similar to Jeongguk with minor differences. Instead of a suit jacket, he wore a silky black vest with gold buttons, also wearing a gold tie but his had faded floral patterns decorating it.
As for his hair, he slicked it back. He also smelled really nice too. He smelled of vanilla oak wood with a subtle musk that wasn't too overbearing.
"Wow! You look so handsome!" Jaeyong gasped again, complimenting Hoseok this time. "You guys look nice!" He nodded in approval, looking them both up and down.
Mr. Jeon was snapping away, taking dozens of photos of the two, even when they weren't looking. He was savoring the moment, thinking both boys cleaned up well.
"Man, I'm glad you got that size. It looks really flattering." Hoseok said, taking ahold of Jeongguk's hand and spinning him once.
The younger playfully rolled his eyes and spun around for his hyung, showing him in his full glamor. "Well, you picked it out."
"I know, aren't I genius?" Hoseok winked, releasing Jeongguk's hand. "Hey, little Jeongguk." Hoseok crouched down, opening his arms for the younger who graciously gave him a huge hug in return.
"You boys look so nice. Let me get a few photos of you boys all together." Mr. Jeon urged. He watched Hoseok pick up Jaeyong and stand beside Jeongguk.
All three boys gave their best smiles are Mr. Jeon captured many photos of them, praising how nice they all looked together.
"Mr. Jeon, let me get one of you, Jeongguk, and Jaeyong." Hoseok insisted, setting the child down. He held his hand over, waiting for the phone.
"Oh, that's so sweet of you." Mr. Jeon said, giving over his cell phone before he stood by his sons.
The three of them posed together, Jeongguk having an arm around his father's shoulder and holding him close. They rarely got photo together anymore so it was very kind of Hoseok to offer them a family photo.
After the photos were all taken, Jeongguk checked the time, seeing that their prom was about to start within the next few moments.
"Okay, dad," Jeongguk started. "I'll probably see you tomorrow. You'll most likely be in bed by the time I get home." He warned.
"Okay then," Mr. Jeon nodded, walking over to his son. He gently fixed his attire, looking up at his son who was a few inches taller than he was. "You look very nice, Jeongguk. I just know your mom would think so as well."
That comment warmed Jeongguk's heart. It was a shame his mom wouldn't see any of his life events past her demise but he was glad his father could live them with him. He and his younger brother who resembled so much of his mother's beautiful soul and personality.
"Thank you, dad." Jeongguk said softly, wrapping his arms around his father. He squeezed him close for a moment before pulling away, saying his goodbyes.
Then him and Hoseok got into the elder's vehicle and began to make their way up to where the prom was being held.
The senior class had decided on a nice restaurant that had a huge back room, one big enough for parties, proms, and formals.
It was a big room that would hold their prom, well decorated following their collectively picked out theme, 'Starry Night'.
"Are you excited?" Asked Hoseok, glancing over a moment then looking back at the road.
Jeongguk nodded, well aware of his beating heart. "A bit nervous but excited. Can't wait to see all the others. I'm sure they look nice."
"Not as nice as we do. We better win prom king and queen." Said the older one of the two, feeling determined.
Jeongguk chuckled, shaking his head. "Are you going to be the queen if we do?"
"Fuck right I am. A bitch this fabulous needs to wear a tiara." Hoseok proudly announced, smoothly making his way to wear prom was being held. "Speaking of the others though, you see Taehyung?"
"No, have you?" Returned Jeongguk.
"No," Hoseok answered. "I thought maybe he visited or texted you a photo." He honestly said, shrugging.
Jeongguk shook his head, denying it. "We actually haven't texted all day." He responded as he thought about it, looking out the side of the window.
"Oh, bummer. Jihyun probably has him running around and making sure everything looks perfect." Hoseok told simply, thinking it was the most logical answer.
The two eventually arrived to the place, a bunch of other students standing outside of the building and taking photos together. Everyone looked so pleasant and well-dressed.
The sun was just beginning to set, the sky all types of colors and the weather nice and warm but not too warm.
It was all very nice.
"Hey, guys!" Greeted Seokjin at the entrance of the prom. He wasn't alone. Beside him was a shorter girl with light brown hair. She was wearing a maroon-colored dress which matched Seokjin's tie. It assumably was his girlfriend.
"Hey, hyung," Hoseok smiled, giving the elder a hug as apart of his hello to him. They began to share of small talk, each taking turns complimenting the other.
While they talked, Jeongguk caught himself looking around, trying to spot a blond-haired boy. He was excited to see him and honestly, he really wanted to kiss him. He was kind of missing the boy after not really seeing him after school these past few days.
Jeongguk also would love to see the boy dressed up. Since they went on a casual date, Jeongguk never got the opportunity to see the boy in fancier clothing, only casual and their team uniform.
But, to the aforementioned dismay, Taehyung was no where to be seen. Neither was Jihyun but he didn't really care for her. For what it was worth, Jeongguk didn't like her from the start but that was because he didn't like Taehyung at the time.
Anyway, Jeongguk huffed and turned back at Hoseok who luckily was finishing up his conversation with Seokjin.
"See you later, hyung." Hoseok told, waving him off before he and Jeongguk entered into the dimmed-lit building.
It was a beautiful sight. The lights were perfectly set to create a dark atmosphere. There were gold and white lights that were twinkling on the ceiling, probably to create the look of stars sparkling.
There were balloons in the shades, blue, gold, silver, and black, adding to the pretty scenery.
"Wow, you guys really outdid yourselves." Jeongguk said in awe, taking everything in and looking around. It was so pretty and didn't even look like a senior prom, more like some sort of formal dance for older people.
Hoseok nodded. "We wanted to step away from some of the other corny themes and Starry Night is what we landed on. I didn't set it up but I had some say our theme and colors. I think it came together pretty nicely."
The younger concurred. While looking at the scenery, he was still looking for Taehyung. Still no signs of the teenager anywhere.
"You guys looking dumb hot." Commented someone from behind the two.
When they turned around, they saw Namjoon, Yoongi, and Jimin. All dressed in nice suits like every other guy at prom.
Jimin was the one who made the remark, scanning the two. "Mister, you look so swell." He added, looking only at Hoseok, giving a friendly wink in his direction.
"Ah, me? Look at you." Hoseok smugly returned, nudging the shorter teenager. "This cool grey is complementary to your complexion."
Jimin thanked him.
Jeongguk was gnawing at his bottom lip, getting a bit annoyed that he hadn't seen Taehyung so far. Just annoyed that it's been so long since he last saw or even heard from him.
He was basically longing for the boy, missing and craving his touch.
He grew such a huge crush onto the boy and liked him so much. Taehyung was an asshole, undoubtedly, but he also was funny, playful, sarcastic, and a joy to be around. It was hard not to end up liking the elder, even after everything in the very beginning.
Jeongguk really liked Taehyung, he really did.
"Jeongguk? Hello?" Jeongguk blinked and flinched once Hoseok waved his hand in front of the aforementioned's face, snapping him from his daydream. "You there, buddy? Looked like we lost all connections."
Jeongguk blushed embarrassedly, forcing a weak smile. "Yeah, just thinking." He remarked, trying to play it off.
"Sure," Hoseok said, slowly looking away from the young boy. "I'm going to go get some drinks, anything in particular?"
Jeongguk declined the offer, sighing to himself.
Everyone slowly went their own ways, Jimin seeing some of his track friends he could go chat with, Namjoon and Yoongi spotting Seokjin and making their way towards him, and then Hoseok off to get beverages.
Jeongguk was all alone, standing awkwardly to himself.
He huffed, pulling his phone out and checking the time. It was going to be a long night, he already knew it was, especially with his annoyance only growing in size.
Jeongguk picked his head back up, looking around but he halted, freezing in place as his eyes locked onto something so beautiful; someone so jaw-dropping.
Taehyung entered into the building, standing tall and handsome. He looked so incredible. He was dressed in a dark navy suit, hugging every inch of his body perfectly. He had a long black tie with a silver pin at the top of it.
Taehyung's hair looked to be straightened and slightly parted in the middle, maybe even trimmed up a bit.
His shoes were shined black, and the minimal detail of added jewelry was apparent. Like Jeongguk wearing gold earrings, Taehyung wore mini silver hoop.
He was glowing. His skin was perfect, his body looked incredible, he just looked absolutely magnificent and Jeongguk couldn't shut his mouth. He couldn't take his eyes off of his team captain.
Taehyung had felt the gaze of someone and glanced over, eyes taking in Jeongguk as the other was staring back at him.
He too admired the way Jeongguk appeared.
It was like the breeze was gently pushing them together, bringing them closer and closer to one another.
Taehyung didn't even realize that he walked away from Jihyun, all he knew is that he was being drawn in closer to Jeongguk.
Soon enough the two were standing one in front of the other, each eyeing each other up.
"You look soโ so hot." Taehyung said softly, feeling his cheeks warm up. "Dude, wow," he sounded breathless.
"You think so?" Wondered Jeongguk, a smile creeping up on his lips. "I was hoping you liked it." He remarked, keeping his eyes locked on Taehyung and Taehyung only.
"Were you now?" The elder hummed. "I really do think so, Newbie. You look breathtaking right now, I didn't think you could clean up this good."
"I don't know if that's a compliment or an insult."
Taehyung chuckled, taking a single step back. He looked genuinely pleased, never thinking the boy would look so amazing in a simple black suit.
The accessories were very complimentary, pulling everything together nicely.
"I want to kiss you so bad," Jeongguk breathed out, catching Taehyung off guard. Taehyung got shy, not expecting such a comment outright. "I've missed you."
Taehyung reached and grabbed Jeongguk's gold tie, slightly pulling him forward but not close enough to indicate he wanted to kiss him or not. "Sure, Newbie." He responded. "I'm sure you've missed me plenty."
Before the two could progress any further, Hoseok barged in on the two, throwing his free arm over Taehyung who released Jeongguk.
"Finally! Was wondering when you would be here! Where'sโ" Hoseok was cut off by Jihyun appearing at Taehyung's other side.
His eyes went twice there size when he got a glimpse of her. Her dress was long, silver, and silky. It was extremely figure-flattering. She had a navy blue and silver corsage that had a similar silver pin like Taehyung's on it.
Her hair was placed back into a messy loose bun with a few loose strands framing her face. Her makeup with subtle but it was very nice.
Hoseok looked like he was drooling all over her, unable to shut his mouth. He couldn't even form proper words.
"Are you running for prom king?" Jihyun asked Taehyung, looking up at him. She caught a bit of him and Jeongguk but that wasn't her business to speak on.
"I wasn't planning on it." Taehyung answered honestly. "No need, really."
"Hi, Jihyun," Hoseok finally greeted, his cheeks bright red. "You look super pretty." He respectfully shared.
Jihyun looked at the boy, offering a kind smile. "Hi, Hoseok," she then looked at Jeongguk, her smile slowly flattening. "Jeongguk."
The aforementioned forced a tight-lipped smile, giving a single nod as his way of saying hello back to her.
She directed her attention back at Taehyung. "You should. I'm going to run for prom queen, might as well. Doesn't hurt." She shrugged. She was still hurt by everything but that wasn't going to ruin her time here or her senior year, she wouldn't allow it.
"I'll run too." Hoseok quickly added in. "C'mon, Taehyung, why not."
The blond hummed, itching the side of his head before he reluctantly agreed to run.
Jihyun started to make her way over where they would put their names, Hoseok following right behind her.
"Are you going to run?" Taehyung asked Jeongguk, watching where the two before them were heading off to.
"Might as well if you are. I don't think either of us are going to win senior prom but I'll vote for you." Jeongguk winked the moment Taehyung directed his attention towards him, watching the aforementioned chuckle at the cheesy sentence.
"Then come on," he held his hand out to Jeongguk. "Let's go."
