TWENTY-SEVEN

Hobbs' team collect evidence from where the Toretto crew had been staying, the GT40 sat in the middle of the large room. "Something doesn't add up," Elena says as she looks through a file, "The Toretto's, O'Connor and Roshani. They stay when they are supposed to run, they steal gas then give it away? Now they're killing federal agents? It doesn't make any sense." She looked up at Hobbs trying her best to make sense of the situation. "Here's what makes sense," Hobbs says as he takes the file from her hands before tossing it to the side.

"All these people are, are names on a list. They come up, we take them down. Not a phone call more, not a bullet less," Hobbs turned away from Elena, his mind still focused on the brunette woman who essentially saved him in the Favelas. "Wilkes, we get anything?" He questioned Wilkes who turned to him to answer, "Standard forensics. Shoe prints. Hair and fiber. Prints all over the car." Wilkes handed over some papers to Hobbs who takes them, "Anything else?" Hobbs' full attention was on Wilkes pushing aside his questions towards Roshani's actions.

Wilkes nodded, "Yeah, we tracked down the owner off the vehicle ID. There are a couple of shell companies in between, but we finally traced it back to a corporation owned by an investor down here named Hernan Reyes." Elena raised an eyebrow with a slight scoff, "Investor?" Hobbs looked at her to continue, "If there's anything illegal happening in Rio, Reyes is involved." Hobbs nodded at her words, "Okay, then so are we. If he could get us any closer to our guys, I want everything on him."

Hobbs turned to his team, "Chato, you're on the roof. I want you on overwatch in case somebody comes back for something. Mac, give me a cross check on Reyes, full specs. If he goes to the john, I want to know how many times he shakes it." Mac nods, "You got it boss." Mac headed over to the computer as Hobbs continues with his orders, "Wilkes, Fusco! Let's put all this mess back together." Fusco looked up at Hobbs before glancing at the car, "That's going to take a while." Hobbs shrugged, "Then you better get started. They were taking this car apart for a reason. Let's put it back together and find out whats missing."

The team got to work as Hobbs picked up the file about Reyna Roshani, opening the file to reveal every detail they had on her. Her family labelled deceased, she had a full ride into UCLA that she bailed on and she was drowning in criminal records but he couldn't find himself understanding the reasons behind her actions. It annoyed him that her simple choice to save him from being shot was drowning his thoughts, she was a smart woman who orginally had a great future ahead of her, maybe Elena had been right to doubt this case.

Dominic, Brian, Reyna and Mia managed to find a place to crash for the night. Dom had gone out to get some food and beers while Brian and Reyna did a perimeter check to make sure they were safe in the house. Mia was asleep on the only cushioned chair in the room after exhaustion from the days event lulled her into a mostly peaceful sleep. Brian was standing in the doorway with his eyes focused on the woman carrying his child as doubts began to fill his head. Dom was leaning up against the railing while Reyna was a few steps away focused on the view of the patio.

Brian turned away from his girl and sat down in the chair across from Dom, "Hey Dom, what do you remember about your father?" Dominic looked at Brian as he thought for a moment, glancing at Reyna as she took a sip of her drink distracted by the events of the day swirling her mind. "My father..." Dom started thoughtfully, "He used to... He used to have a barbecue every Sunday after church. For anybody in the neighborhood. If you didn't go to church, you didn't get any barbecue." Dominic smiled at the memories that were flooding his mind.

His eyes were dazed as he spoke, "Every single day he was in the shop and every single night he was at the kitchen table with Mia, helping her with her homework. Even after Mia went to sleep, he'd stay up a few more hours so he could learn the next chapter and help her the next day." Dom smiled as he looked over at Reyna, "I remember the first time he met Rey, the two were going on and on about why Muscle was better than import as Rey's older brother would complain about Imports being better. I remember everything about my father. Everything." Dominic looked back over to Brian as Reyna smiled at the memories Dom had bought up.

Brian looked down, "That's just it." He sighed, "I don't remember shit about my dad. I don't remember him yelling, I don't remember him smiling. To be honest with you, I don't even remember what the hell he looked like. I don't remember. He just... He was just never there." The two men stayed quiet as Reyna's soft yet stern voice caught their attention. "You are not going to be like him, Brian. You aren't him and you've got us to support that, brother." Brian smiled at Reyna as Dominic walked over to the window to look at his little sister.

Brian turned to look at Mia, "We can't keep running, Dom. Rey, we got to get out. We got to get out now." The three of them agreed with those words, they knew they needed an out. Reyna smirked as her thoughts came together, "You're right. Here's how we're going to do it." Reyna pulled the chip from her pocket holding it up, "We're going to use this. We're going to do one last job. We're going to take all of Reyes' money. Every dime of it and disappear. Forever." Reyna places the chip down in front of Dom and Brian who are smiling in agreement.

"New passports. New lives with no more looking over our shoulder. And we're just going to buy our freedom," Brian says in agreement. "That's right," Dom agrees smiling at Reyna as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders, taking a sip of his beer. "You realize we're talking about going up against one of the most powerful guys in all of Rio?" Brian says with some concern as they knew how bad this could turn out if they didn't succeed. "Yes, we are," Dom says confidently as Reyna smirked, "Then we're going to need a team." And so their planning began.

Reyna walked over to the corner of the balcony leaning on the railing once Dom and Brian headed in to get some sleep. She was trapped in her thoughts about everything that had happened, she was beginning to think this would be her life. She lifted her drink to her mouth when footsteps behind her made her turn around to see Brian approaching her with a smile, "Hey, are you alright?" Reyna smiled lightly before looking back out at the view. Brian leaned against the railing next to her as they stood in silence for a few minutes till Brian nudged Reyna with a smirk.

Reyna sighed before turning to Brian, "It's just... My mind is all over the place. I know we need an out and Reyes' money is our way out but..." Reyna looked down as she took a deep breath, "I just wish it wasn't something so dangerous it could get us killed. I can't loose any more family, Brian. I can't. " Reyna's voice cracked as tears welled up in her eyes. Brian pulled Reyna into a hug as she closed her eyes melting into his embrace. "We're all gonna get through this Rey and we'll be free. Besides, we have you leading us. what could go wrong?" Brian says making Reyna laugh as she pulled away, both of them ready to fight for their family's freedom.
