EIGHTEEN

-Flashback-

Miami, Florida

Brian and Reyna sat together as Roman, Suki and Jimmy worked together on the new GTR that came in. It had been almost a year since they took down Verone and thankfully he wasn't getting out anytime soon, which Roman was most grateful for. Reyna took a sip of her Corona as Tej walked over kissing her cheek, the two weren't officially together but they did share a lot of affection like middle school kids with the holding hands, the hugs and the kisses. Except for the occasional more adult fun when no one else was around, but neither had made the move to make it official which thoroughly annoyed Brian and Rome who wanted them together.

Reyna's phone rang catching her attention, she picked up the phone and looked at the number with a smile. "Excuse me guys," Reyna says as she stood up and answered the phone, "Hey Cousin Tego. How's it going?" She asked in Spanish making Brian and Tej look at each other. "I got a call from Dominic, Rey. I think we've found him." Reyna let out a sigh before leaving the room, her distraught face worried Tej and concerned Brian. "All right T, don't tell me over the phone. I'll see you in Mexico in two days, amigo." She hung up the phone and leaned back against the wall, her heart pounding as she had to decide between her old family or her new family.

She smiled as she went through her memories with the crew, hearing Roman and Tej's banter between the two, Suki and Reyna's designs and times together detailing cars. Her and Jimmy fixing up cars, she and Brians continued playful arguments about which is better, Imports or American Muscle. She knew what she wanted and that was the crew she had now but what she needed was a different story. She needed to find Dominic and get her family back together.

She knew they wouldn't let her leave so she acted normal for the rest of the day brushing off Brian's usual cop-like questions with simple answers about her cousins Tego and Santos' slight stupidity and gambling addictions. Later that night after everyone fell asleep, Reyna left a note for each of them explaining herself and that she knew that they'd meet again because after all, it's never truly goodbye.

-Present Day-

Ecuador, South America

Reyna is fixing up her 1966 Plymouth Barracuda, her current project that can go zero to sixty in less than ten seconds. She was heavily focused on working on it she didn't even notice when Jessie approached her. "Rey, someone's on the phone wanting to talk to you," Jessie says startling Reyna which made her smile. "Alright, thanks, Jess." Reyna made her way out of the garage and to the phone unsure of who could be calling her right now.

"Hello?" Reyna says in Spanish as she answers the phone though the voice on the other side startled her, "Reyna..." Reyna closed her eyes leaning back on the wall with the phone in her shaky hand. "Mia... You shouldn't have called me here," Reyna answered but the sniffle from Mia caught her attention, "Mia, what's wrong?" Mia next few words shocked Reyna to the core, "Rey, it's Letty. She's been murdered."

Reyna felt her whole world stop at that moment, she didn't even realise that she had started crying as Mia continued, "I know you'll want to come home but I'm sure the cops are already staking this place out. Just whatever you do, stay safe. I have no clue where Dom is." Reyna opened her eyes and took a deep breath, "I'll let Dom know. I love you, Mia. Be safe." Reyna hung the phone back at and let out a broken sob before dropping to the ground, she never got to say goodbye to her.

Jessie ran over to Reyna and pulled her in for a hug, holding her as tears continued to fall. "I have to go away for a while, Jess," Reyna spoke once she had calmed down, Jessie nodded as she helped her up. "You do what you have to do, Reyna. Just come back alive," Jessie tells her as she smiled sadly at her. Reyna and Jessie heading back into the garage, Reyna went straight upstairs to her room to pack a duffel bag for her trip not entirely sure how long she would be gone for or if she'd come back at all.

Reyna was gonna find out who killed her sister, no matter what it costs. The determined look in her eyes was enough to show Jessie that she was about to step into dangerous territory. Reyna hugged Jessie before climbing into her firebird, she smiled at Jessie one last time before pulling out her phone to dial a number. "Hey Rey, What's up?" Han's voice made her smile as she let out a breath. "Letty's been murdered, Han. I'm going after the ones who did it, just wanted to let you know in case you don't hear from me."

Han was quiet at first though he understood, "Alright Firebird, just remember to fight until the end. Show those bastards they messed with the wrong girl. After all, you never mess with a Roshani." Reyna let out a quiet laugh as she wiped a tear away, "Thanks Han, I knew you were the one to call. I love you, brother." Han sighed on the other end of the call, "Firebird, say something other than a goodbye." Reyna smirked, "I'll see you in Tokyo, after all, I've got a title to win." Han laughed before she hung up.

Reyna finally arrived in Panama City where she knew Dominic was staying, her eyes wandered around the scenery until she pulled up to the side hoping that someone could lead her to his exact location. Reyna asked a couple of kids and one of them led her straight to him, she walked up next to the car with a deep breath, "Dom." He rolled out from under the car he was working on and smiled lightly before getting up.

Dominic pulled her into a hug, "Reyna, you shouldn't be here, you know that." Reyna pulled away with tears in her eyes causing Dominic to freak out straight away. "What is it, Reyna?" Dom asks as he wiped the tears from her cheeks. "It's Letty, Dom. She's been murdered." Reyna barely choked out as more tears fell seeing the broken expression on Dominic's face. They wrapped their arms around each other instantly, "I'm hunting the bastard down, you with me Dom?" Reyna asks getting an immediate yes back.

"When's the funeral?" Dom says as he pulled away from Reyna, she wiped the tears away taking in a deep breath as she looked up at Dominic. "It's in two days. We need to get going if we are gonna make it. Mia wants us to stay away but..." Reyna spoke causing Dominic to smile lightly, "She's family. And you don't mess with family." Reyna took another deep breath pushing away the pain before stashing her car in the garage, her and Dominic taking a different car.

Dominic took over driving halfway back to L.A, he looked over at Reyna asleep in the passenger seat. Her eyes were puffy from crying and there were dark rings under her eyes showing her lack of sleep, he was hurting due to the loss of the woman he loved but seeing his little sister in pain made him angry. Someone had messed with their family and they weren't gonna get out of this alive, Reyna and Dominic would be sure of that even if they don't make it out alive.

"We are gathered here to pay our final respects to Leticia Ortiz. Let us reflect on hee journey..." The priest spoke as Mia cried for the loss of a sister. Dominic and Reyna stood on the hill above the cemetery watching the funeral from the distance, Reyna's eyes landed on Brian leaving her startled. Last she saw Brian, he was living it up in Miami but obviously he had taken up being a cop again. Same old buster, Reyna thought to herself. Reyna grabbed Dominic's hand in hopes to comfort both of them as they stared at Letty's casket, anger rose within Reyna and she was ready to hunt.

"We should go," Reyna says to Dominic with a newfound determination, he finally looks at her before he nods in agreement. The two of them walk away from the funeral, determined to avenge their fallen loved one. So for now, they were hiding until the right moment. "Facial recognition software matched Dominic and Reyna about ten minutes after they crossed the border," Stasiak says as he stands beside Brian, his eyes trained solely on Mia wanting to comfort the woman. "I don't get it. I thought they'd show," Brian looked up at the hill almost as though he felt someone's eyes on him moments ago.

That night, Mia is boxing Letty's things up with the police staking out the house hoping that Dominic and Reyna would show up. Mia picked up the box and headed out to the garage before she started going through it again, turning suddenly at the sound of footsteps. "Dom, Rey..." Mia gasps out shocked by their sudden arrival, she wasn't too sure that they would turn up with the risks but she was glad to see them. "I told you not to come. They're staking the place out. If they find you..." Mia spoke as she embraced them in separate hugs, a smile on her face seeing her family again.

It had been five years since she had last seen Mia and she had really grown up in that time, "Look at you." Mia smiled at Reyna as they hugged again, Reyna was always the middle child in age between Dom and Mia. Dominic looked around the garage as he caught sight of his charger sitting in perfect condition. He walked over to it catching both of the girl's attention causing Mia to let out a shaky breath as she spoke, "Letty wouldn't let them junk it." Reyna chuckled lightly, "Even though it's a goddamn curse." Dominic smiled sadly at her.

"When Letty came back, she was always in here, working on it day and night. It was weird. It was like she knew you both were coming back," Mia explains as Dom leaned down at the window spotting his necklace hanging on the rearview mirror with a bracelet matching Reyna's. "I want to see the crash site," Dom says as he turned to Mia and Reyna. Reyna spotted the bracelet and began fiddling with hers, she may have cried but it hasn't truly sunk in that Letty was gone.

Dom pulls up to where Mia pointed the crash site to be causing Reyna to let out a steady breath to keep herself calm. The three of them climbed out of the car, Mia staying by the car as she says, "It's straight ahead." Reyna and Dominic walked over to the exact spot where the crash happened, the two of them able to visualize the crash before Reyna knelt down spotting a yellow mark. She looked up at Dominic, the both of them knowing exactly what it was. They all got back in the car before Dom drives Mia back home, he stops two blocks away from their house.

They say in silence until Mia looked at them, "You found something back there." Reyna nodded, "There were burn marks on the ground. The kind that could only be caused by nitromethane." Dominic nodded before looking back at Mia, "There's only one guy in all of L.A that sells that." Mia looked down for a moment before looking up at her siblings. "Nothing either of you do is gonna bring her back. Dom, Rey..." Mia took a breath, "If I were Letty, I would ask you both... No, I would beg you both, please, let this go. Before it's too late." Mia sat there as Dom and Reyna shared a look before the two looked out to the road.

"It's already too late," Dom tells Mia as Reyna nodded in agreement, they had made up their minds and nothing would change that. "I love you both," Mia says before she kissing them each on the cheek and getting out of the car and walking towards their home. "There's no going back," Dom says neither of them looking at each other. "Good. Let's hunt," Reyna responded, Dom started the car and spun it around before speeding off to pay an old friend a visit.
