The idea of venturing to Washington to watch Jayden's game was both exciting and terrifying. On one hand, I couldn't deny the thrill of possibly seeing him again. But facing him after my drunken antics, in front of a crowd no less, made my heart do somersaults in my chest.

Over the next few days, Avery tirelessly worked on planning our trip. She was the ultimate planner, creating intricate schedules and booking flights with an efficiency that made it clear she'd done this before.

Meanwhile, I felt a mix of excitement, anxiety, and guilt. Excitement at the prospect of the trip, anxiety about seeing Jayden again, and guilt for potentially wasting Avery's time and effort. But despite my inner turmoil, I couldn't deny the anticipation building within me.

Finally, the day of our trip arrived. We packed our bags, double checking our itineraries and making sure we hadn't forgotten anything crucial. My heart thumped in my chest as we headed to the airport.

The flight to Washington was relatively smooth, the hours passing in a blur of airplane food, movies, and half-asleep conversations between Avery and me. I found myself growing more nervous as we drew closer to our destination.

As our taxi navigated the streets of Washington, I looked out the window, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings. The city was bustling and vibrant, and everywhere I looked, I saw signs, banners, and billboards advertising Commanders upcoming game.

Avery, of course, was in her element. She gushed excitedly about the city, reminiscing about her own past visits and promising me that we had a packed weekend ahead of us.

The excitement in the city was palpable, with fans flooding the streets in a sea of red and gold, all eagerly anticipating the game. The air was filled with electric energy, and the atmosphere was crackling with tension and hope. This was Jayden's final game for a chance at the Super Bowl.

As we walked through the city towards the stadium, Avery looked up at a towering billboard featuring Jayden's face. She let out a whistle, her eyes wide.

"Wow, look at him," she said, admiration in her voice. "No wonder Jayden won Rookie of the Year. He's like a one-man army on the field."

My gaze followed hers, and my breath hitched in my throat. The billboard was a larger-than-life image of Jayden, clad in his football gear, his intense eyes staring out at the world with determination and focus. He looked every bit the pro player, commanding and charismatic.

"God, he's gorgeous," Avery exclaimed, her voice tinged with a hint of envy. "And it's not just the whole football star thing, it's the way he carries himself, you know? He exudes such confidence and skill on the field."

The stadium was massive and intimidating as we entered. The roar of the crowd was deafening, the energy palpable. Everywhere we looked, fans were decked out in Commanders gear, their faces painted in the team's colors.

Avery clutched my arm, her eyes wide with excitement. "Can you believe it, Hannah? We're about to witness history being made!"

As we navigated through the sea of people, heading towards our designated seats, a thought crossed my mind.

"Let's just hope the Chiefs don't cheat," I mumbled, half-jokingly.

Avery chuckled beside me, a mischievous grin on her face. "Cheat? With Jayden on the field? Come on, you know he'd catch them."

I couldn't help but smile at her confidence in Jayden. But deep down, a tiny seed of doubt lingered. The odds were stacked against the Commanders, and the Chiefs' reputation for underhanded tactics was well-known.

We settled into our seats, the atmosphere around us growing even more intense as kick-off time drew closer. The energy was infectious, and I found myself getting caught up in the excitement despite my inner turmoil.

I watched as the Commanders' players began to file onto the field, led by none other than Jayden, his number 5 gleaming under the bright stadium lights.

He moved with a grace and surety that was captivating. Even from this distance, I could see the determination and focus in his every step. The crowd roared as he emerged, and I felt a surge of pride well up inside me.

He scanned the crowd, and I could have sworn his gaze lingered for a moment in our direction, but the distance made it hard to tell. I held my breath, wondering if he had seen us in the sea of spectators.

But then, his focus shifted back to the game, his stance firm as the players took their positions on the field. The kick-off began, and the Commanders were off.

Every play, every pass, every tackle was a testament to Jayden's skill and talent. He moved with a precision and agility that left the opposing team struggling to keep up.

The crowd was on fire, responding to every successful move the Commanders made. The energy in the stadium was electric, and I found myself joining in the cheers, caught up in the thrilling game unfolding before our eyes.

The score was tight, both teams giving it their all. Jayden was in the zone, his every move calculated and executed flawlessly. It was breathtaking to watch.

The tension was palpable, the outcome of the game hanging in the balance. I found myself clutching the edge of my seat, my heart pounding in my chest with every play.

The Commanders were closing in on the end zone, and all eyes were on Jayden. The entire stadium seemed to hold its breath as Jayden took his position, eyes scanning the field for his receivers.

Suddenly, he darted forward, avoiding the rushing defenders with the agility of a cat, and hurled the ball down the field to one of his receivers. The crowd surged to their feet as the pass was caught, sending the Commanders closer towards victory.

The stadium went wild, the noise deafening. Avery and I were on our feet, cheering and screaming, caught up in the excitement. Jayden had done it again, leading his team to yet another crucial play.

The minutes ticked by, the score edging ever closer to a Commanders win. He continued his stellar performance, guiding his team through each play with precision and determination. It was like watching a well-rehearsed dance, every move executed flawlessly.

The game was nearing its end, the Commanders in a prime position to secure the victory. The crowd was on the edge of their seats, every breath held in suspense as the team prepared for the final play.

The ball was snapped, and Jayden moved into position, his focus locked on the field. He called out his signals, the tension in the stadium palpable. The entire world seemed to be in slow motion as he launched the ball forward.

Time seemed to stand still for a moment, the ball sailing through the air. And then, in a flash, it was caught. The crowd erupted in a thunderous cheer, the Commanders' victory all but assured.

The stadium was a cacophony of joy and relief, the Commanders' fans going wild with excitement. Jayden stood amidst the chaos, his shoulders rising and falling as he gasped for air, adrenaline still coursing through his veins.

I was on my feet, cheering along with everyone else. Avery was hooting and hollering beside me, her voice hoarse from shouting. The energy was overwhelming, the thrill of the victory infectious.

After the game, the euphoria in the stadium was still palpable. Fans began to pour out of the stands, and Avery turned to me, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

"Let's see if we can get down onto the field," she dared.

I gulped, my heart rate picking up at the thought. "Are you crazy? We don't have passes for that," I protested.

"We don't need passes," Avery declared, grabbing my hand. "We're resourceful women. Come on! Let's go."

As we drew closer to the field, the adrenaline coursed through my veins. I could see players, still in their uniforms, chatting and celebrating their victory. My eyes scanned the field, searching for the familiar number 5.

Finally, my heart skipped a beat as I saw him. Jayden was in the center of a group of his teammates, smiling and laughing, obviously still riding the high of the game.

As we continued towards the field, we spotted Jayden a few yards away. He was surrounded by his teammates, a few of them clapping him on the back in congratulations. But as we got closer, my heart clenched as I saw that Jayden was crying, his eyes wet with tears of joy. It was obvious that the moment was overwhelming for him, the culmination of years of hard work and dedication paying off in a way that left him emotional.

His teammates and coaches were all smiling widely, some of them even misty-eyed themselves. It was clear that Jayden's passion and determination had not only led his team to victory, but touched the hearts of everyone around him.

Before I could even register what was happening, Avery let out a whoop and took off running. She charged past the barriers, onto the field, her eyes fixed on Jayden. I hesitated for a moment, torn between fear of getting into trouble and the pull of the moment.

But then, with a sense of recklessness I didn't know I possessed, I followed after her, my heart pounding in my chest. The grass was spongy beneath my feet as I joined her on the field, feeling both excited and terrified at our daring move.

We were now right in the midst of the celebratory chaos. Players were laughing and hugging each other, coaches were congratulating the team, wife's were celebrating and reporters were trying to elbow their way through the throngs of people to get closer to Jayden.

Avery was already approaching Jayden, a wide grin on her face. He turned towards us, still wiping away tears, a look of surprise mixed with recognition on his face when his eyes met mine.

"You... you're here," he said, his voice slightly choked by emotion.

"We had to congratulate the star quarterback in person," Avery answered, looping an arm around Jayden's shoulder. His gaze shifted from her to me, his expression softening at the sight of me.

"Hannah," he murmured, saying my name so gently that it sent a shiver down my spine. The noise of the celebration seemed to fade into the background as we looked at each other, a million unspoken words hanging between us.

"You were amazing out there," I managed to squeak out, my heart fluttering in my chest. He was only a few feet away from me, close enough that I could see the glistening trails of tears on his cheeks and the tiny droplets of sweat still clinging to his skin.

Without warning, he wrapped me in a tight hug. His body was warm, the muscles of his arms and chest firm against me, and the scent of him - a mix of sweat, grass, and that ever-present hint of his cologne - filled my nostrils. It was both surprising and exhilarating, his touch sending a wave of sensation through me.

The hug was both comforting and electrifying. I could feel the heat radiating off his body, the strength in his arms as he held me close. My heart was racing, my mind whirling with a jumble of emotions. But despite the chaos around us, everything felt hushed and intimate in this moment.

For a few brief seconds, I leaned into him, savoring the feel of his chest against my cheek, his arms anchoring me in this moment of triumph and emotion. But all too soon, the moment was broken as a few of Jayden's teammates began to cheer and hoot at the sight of us.

"Get a room, you two," someone teased, causing us to break apart, our faces flushed. The reality of where we were and who was watching came crashing back, and I took a step back, suddenly feeling embarrassed.

Jayden chuckled, his cheeks tinged with color. "We're just celebrating," he called out to his teammates, but his words were lost amidst their whistles and catcalls.

"Yeah, just celebrating your great game," I affirmed, trying to recover my composure. Meanwhile, Avery was watching the scene unfolding with a smirk, her eyes glittering with mischief.

Jayden reluctantly let go of me, his warm touch disappearing from my body, leaving me feeling oddly cold. "I have to go give a speech and do some interviews," he explained, a hint of regret in his voice. "But the team's throwing a celebration party tonight. You should come."

I wanted to say yes, to be a part of the celebrations and spend more time with Jayden. But my practical side won over my heart, and I shook my head. "I can't," I replied, a pang of disappointment in my chest. "Not after last party."

He chuckled, seemingly remembering the debacle from the last party. "Good point," he admitted, though I thought I saw a flash of disappointment in his gaze. "Maybe some other time then?"

I found myself nodding, my heart fluttering at the promise of another chance. "Yeah, maybe some other time," I echoed, the possibility of another encounter with him both tantalizing and nerve-wracking.

As we stood there, the celebration continuing around us, Jayden suddenly pulled me into another hug. This one was different, tighter, his arms holding me close as though he didn't want to let go.

I tensed for a moment, taken off guard by the unexpected gesture, but then I melted into him, my arms coming up to wrap around his waist.

His chest was muscular and firm beneath my hands, his body warm and solid against me. I breathed in his scent, a mix of sweat and the faint hint of his cologne, and found myself relaxing into the embrace.

He held me closely for several beats, his chin resting lightly on the top of my head. The world faded around us, the noise and chaos of the celebration becoming background noise as we stood there, wrapped in each other's arms.

Finally, he loosened his hold on me, pulling back slightly to look down into my face. His eyes were warm and soft, a small smile curving the corners of his mouth. "Thanks for coming," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper so only I could hear him.

"Of course," I replied, my voice a bit breathless, my heart still pounding in my chest. He gave me one last squeeze before reluctantly pulling away entirely, the moment breaking as his teammates called out to him again, reminding him of his responsibilities.

He gave me one final glance, a look that seemed to hold a thousand unspoken words, and then he was gone, disappearing into the crowd once more. I stood there, watching him go, a strange mix of elation and emptiness swirling within me.
