'We don't even know what this stuff is.' Newt said.

Me, Newt, Thomas, the Med-jacks, and Teresa were standing around Alby's bed.

'We don't know who sent it or why it came up here with you.' Newt looked at Teresa. 'For all we know this could kill him.'

'He's already dying.' Thomas commented. 'Look at him.'

Thomas had a point. Alby didn't look well. His veins turned black and his breaths were unsteady.

'Come on. It's worth a try.' Thomas added.

Hesitantly Newt looked at Alby, who was groaning.

'All right.' Newt finally said. 'Do it.'

Thomas grabbed the serum and bend down over Alby. Suddenly Alby's eyes shot open and he grabbed Thomas his shirt. Immediately Newt and the Med-jacks tried to pull Thomas away from Alby's strong grip.

'You did this!' Spit flew everywhere while Alby yelled. 'It's your fault!'

Teresa grabbed the syringe out of Thomas his hand and stabbed Alby with it. He let go of Thomas and his breaths got steadier. Out of breath, we all looked at the leader.

'From now on, someone watches him around the clock.' Newt decided.

Suddenly Gally walked in and glanced at us. 'Newt, it's time.'

Newt gave me a small smile and followed Gally out, probably to the pits.

Before I was going to Logan, I wanted to talk to Thomas. I had barely talked to him in the last few days. 'Hey, Thomas?'

The boy looked up. 'Yeah?'

'Did you guys find anything else in the maze?' I asked.

'Yes. We think the Griever object is some kind of key. When we were in section seven, the light turned green and a door opened. We're thinking it's the place where the Grievers go in and out.' He explained.

'So that is our way out?'

'It's possible.' Thomas replied. 'But section seven is closed right now, so we can't go in there for a few days. We'll have to wait.'

'Okay.' I smiled lightly. 'I'll see you around.'

Thomas gave me a nod and I rushed outside to find Logan. I caught him sitting on the ground with his back leaning against a tree. His dark hair hung over his eyes and he looked at the grass. I noticed he seemed slightly sad.

'Hey.' I said when I walked closer to him. Logan immediately got up when he saw me. He hugged me tightly and I didn't hesitate to hug him back.

'I'm so sorry, Nora. I didn't mean to fight Newt.' Logan let go of me and sat down again. I did too. 'I tried to control it but then blurted out something stupid.'

'Logan. It's fine.' I looked at him. 'You couldn't do anything about it.'

'If I didn't say such stupid things-.'

'Logan.' I repeated. 'Stop apologizing. It wasn't your fault.'

Logan's frown disappeared and his eyes softened. 'Where's Newt? I want to talk to him.'

'In the pit.' I replied. 'But I don't think it's a good idea for you two to talk right now.'

'I won't hurt him again, I promise.' Logan quickly answered.

'That's not what I meant. I trust you and know you won't hit him again. It's more Newt I'm worried about. He's not letting go of it so quickly.' I explained. 'I'm scared he's going to do something to you.'

'Newt wouldn't just attack me.' Logan corrected. 'But fine. I'll talk to him after he gets out of the pit.'

'Great.' I responded.

'How's your wrist?' Logan asked.

'Painful but healing.' I replied. 'What about you? Are you hurt?'

'I got a black eye but that was it.' Logan replied. It was too dark outside for me to see his face. 'Is Newt hurt badly?'

I was surprised by Logan's kindness. Even though he got into a fight with Newt, he still cared about him.

'A few bruises on his stomach, but he'll live.' I let out a chuckle.

Logan laughed a little. 'Good that.'

I yawned and felt myself getting tired.

'You're tired.' Logan noticed it.

'A little.'

'I'll bring you to your hut.' Logan got up and pulled me up too. 'Come on.' He led me to my hut. 'I'll see you tomorrow, okay?'

'Okay.' I nodded.

'Good night, Nora.'

'Night, Logan.'

Logan walked away and I got in my hut. Just then I realized I wasn't able to change myself. I wasn't going to ask Logan to do it. Never in my life. He was my best friend and nothing more.

After Logan walked away I immediately felt alone again. Newt wasn't there and Logan wasn't either. Fully clothed I lay down on my bed and stared at the ceiling. I felt drawn to the knife in my drawer. No. I promised them.

I bit my lip and nervously tried to fall asleep, but couldn't. Almost I got up and grabbed the knife, but I didn't. I wanted to stop, so I wasn't gonna do it. Though I decided that, I was still struggling not to get the knife.

With a sigh, I got out of my bed and headed off to the pits.

'Newt?' I asked quietly when I arrived.

I heard a few groans coming out of a pit. 'Here.' I recognized his voice and walked up to the pit. I bend down in front of it and looked through the fence. Newt was leaning against the wall and looked at me.

'What's wrong, love?' He asked.

'I- uhm..' I cleared my throat. 'I promised to come to you, if- you know.'

Newt's expression changed into worry and sadness. 'That was a good decision.' He said proudly. 'But I can't get out, sorry.'

'I can come in.' I opened the pit before Newt could say anything else.

'Nora, what are you doing?' Newt whispered when I crawled into the pit.

'Joining you.'

'No, you're not.' Newt immediately said. 'You're gonna sleep in your own nice and comfortable bed, not on this cold, hard floor.'

'No.' I sternly said. 'I'm gonna stay with you.'

'You're stubborn.' Newt sighed.

'I've heard that before.' I smiled.

'Nora, go to bed. I don't want you to get back pain or whatever.'

'I'm not a grandma.' I replied.

'I'm not letting you sleep on the floor.' Newt didn't give up.

'Not your choice.' I lay down on my back and Newt was right. The floor wasn't comfortable, just cold and hard. But that didn't stop me.

'Changed your mind?' Newt asked full of hope.

'No.'

He let out a sigh and lay down next to me. 'You're gonna stay here the whole night, aren't you?'

'That's right.'

'Why aren't you wearing your pajamas?' Newt asked.

I glanced at him. 'What do you think?' I rolled my eyes jokingly. 'Did you expect me to ask Logan for help?' I laughed.

'Could've been an option.' Newt replied. 'But I'm glad you didn't do it.' I could hear the hate in his voice.

'Logan is very sorry about fighting you, you know?' I announced.

'I bet he is.' Newt snapped.

'Newt, seriously. Don't make a scene right now.'

Newt sighed heavily and stared at the roof. I twisted my body, trying to get into a comfortable position, but it was impossible.

'Get here.' Newt noticed it and I slowly got closer to him.

Without saying anything Newt pulled me on top of him. My head was on his chest and I could hear his steady heartbeats. Newt was much more comfortable than the ground, I had to admit.

'This isn't comfortable for you.' I commented.

'As long as you can sleep well, I'm happy.' Newt wrapped his arm around me and I felt my eyes slowly closing. Newt drew circles in my hair and I felt his breathing on my skin. Quickly I fell asleep in his arms.
