โ are we talking about the groomer with a wife & kids โž

WHEN YOU get used to walking around the south side of chicago, any fears you would usually feel if you were a tourist or especially a north sider go away after 48 hours of birth. that was how maddie milkovitch thought about most things. even she knew that it wasn't exactly the most healthy way of living, but it was getting her by far enough.

she was getting more and more use to walking with not only her sister to school, but with ian gallagher. she was on the cusp of not despising him, but honestly, maddie didn't really like anyone in particular, and she was rather proud of that. getting tutored by lip was seemingly the only time she really took her guard down, even the slightest amount, although only for a hour.

"can you sign in for me at dentition today? mrs. ponder won't notice, she's almost blind" ian turned to mandy to ask as they strolled by the bridge they were so familiar with walking near. maddie walked slightly behind them, kicking tiny pebbles left stray on the streets.

"you ditching?" mandy asked with an eyebrow, instantly attracting maddie's always darting attention. mischief and her were rather close friends.

"kash has something planned" ian announced. and just like that maddie's attention was gone. instead she loudly reminded them of her presence with a groan.

"ugh. are we talking about the groomer with a wife and kids" maddie whined, attempting to mock ian and his situation. apparently successfully.

"he's not grooming me" ian denied snappily.

"is too" maddie said practically beaming.

"mads, if you don't shut the fuck up i'm not giving you any money for starbucks on friday" mandy said with a death glare in her icy blue eyes. that was one thing maddie always realized. she was the only milkovich she ever met to not have blue eyes. as if it meant something. mandy's demands were met in her sister's silence. "i thought the kash thing was last night"

"was supposed to be, but, uh, he took me to his place...and it sort of freaked me out. i mean, i always knew he had a wife and a life and everything, but seeing it...and smelling it...i mean, his life actually has an odor-" ian was caught off guard by mandy locking her lips with his, while maddie stood back holding in a chortle. she in a way admired her sister for her boldness with the men she met. "what was that for?"

"i just felt like kissing my boyfriend. have fun fucking kash" mandy whispered in his ear before lightly tugging on maddie's arm in a sign of wanting to leave. as the two milkovich women walked away from the agasp red headed homosexual, maddie couldn't help but turn around and bring her finger to her neck, making the throat slicing motion. although mandy shoved her in the ribs to make her stop, ian couldn't help but laugh at the kid. there was something charming about her that he couldn't describe.

โ€”โ€”

later that day, maddie had gone to her first wedding. a fake one apparently, but in her childlike gaze, it was real. the idea of seeing two people who loved each other as much as kev and v did (maddie learned their names after she stole her third beer) was astonishing to her. she had never experienced that type of relationship around her. a healthy one. and so as mandy threw a caring arm around her sister's shoulder, defintely just as tipsy as she was, maddie milkovich couldn't help but smile. if everyday could be just as happy and this much alcohol filled as every other day, she would be a different person, living a different life.

this chapter is a major filler, i know. i'm currently so obsessed with shameless, and i knew maddie wasn't in this chapter so i thought 'why not update?' this was more meant to foreshadow maddie's backstory and to build her relationship with mandy and ian. so i hope you all enjoyed that, and are as excited as i am for the next chapters!
