CHAPTER ONE
NEW GIRL
; ♡⋆.ೃ࿔*
The soft hum of the 1969 Mustang engine could be heard as Chris progressively turned the volume up on the radio. Something In The Way by Nirvana played loudly as Chris hung his arm out the window of the muscle car. Bobbing his head ever so slightly to the guitar playing ominously in the track. Finding this for comfort as he waited patiently for his brother.
A cigarette dangling between his fingers as he sat patiently waiting for his younger brother outside the old trailer the pair grew up in. Very few good memories were witnessed in the house that Chris could remember. The only fond memories coming to mind were spending his birthday with Jellybean and Jughead, his two younger siblings.
Those were some of the best times in the trailer located on the Southside of Riverdale, but not everything great lasts forever. Something had to break through and that was FP with his drinking problem worsening. Jughead's and Chris's mom leaving with Jellybean to wherever. The information was with Jughead, but Chris never found himself needing to ask where they went.
From there, things flipped upside onto their head. Many fights erupting inside the small home and only breaking the only men in the house apart. Jughead moving into the Twilight drive-in while Chris got a job doing illegal stuff and had his own apartment. Something he was content with since it's been all he's done for years since he's left.
Deep down he knew that if he stayed in that trailer any longer, the long and traumatizing memories would plague his mind forever. So, he left his dad without warning and focused on himself and recovering from the years of pain he had endured. It was the only way he could get better and become the person he knew he was destined to be.
When Chris took a puff off his cigarette, the sound of yelling could be heard inside the trailer. Grumbling in annoyance as he placed the smoke between his lips and got out of the car. "Son of a bitch." He muttered as he walked towards the trailer in quick and long strides.
Not caring to knock and be polite as he entered seeing his brother and dad standing in the living room yelling at each other. "You need to get a damn job. Get off the couch and stop drinking. Mom and Jellybean are gone because of you." Jughead barked earning a violent look to ignite into his dad's eyes. "Watch your mother, boy," FP growled as he pointed at his youngest son.
Before FP could do anything, he was shoved to the ground by Chris. "Don't you dare fucking try it," Chris warned as FP got to his feet. "Chris, I had it-" Jughead protested, but Chris cut him off as he got to his feet. "Jug, get to the car. You're staying at my place tonight." Chris ordered and glanced at his brother with a glare showing there was no room for arguing. Reluctantly, Jughead grabbed his bag full of clothes and school belongings and left the trailer.
Leaving the two oldest Jones glaring at each other. "You need to get your shit together, FP. Until then, you ain't seeing me or Jughead again." Chris told the man before walking to the fridge and stealing a bear. "Hey! Put that shit-" Before FP could finish, Chris slammed the door shut and went down the steps briskly. "Piece of shit." He muttered with a shake of his head.
Entering the car, Chris glanced at his brother whose jaw was clenched. Shaking his head slightly before driving away from the trailer park and in the direction of the apartments. Turning the music down just in case his little brother wanted to speak on anything that could be bothering him. This would probably happen since Jughead often confided in his brother for advice. Despite the fact that he wasn't that great of a person, he could give good advice on things.
The ride to the apartment was quiet and Chris liked it that way, for now at least. Just seeing his dad was enough to ruin the entire mood that he had going for him. Feeling the occasional glance from Jughead that kinda annoyed him, but he pushed past any snarky comment to leave his lips. Remembering the fact that Jughead was just as angry and annoyed as him with their father's actions and behaviour.
Soon arriving at the apartment building and handing Jughead his key. "Room 24," Chris told his brother simply as he let his hand cooly rest on the steering wheel. "Where are you going?" Jughead questioned with eyebrows knitted together. "Gettin' our food. Need to add some weight to that skinny ass body of yours." Chris joked as he slapped Jughead's chest. Earning a slap of his hand that made him chuckle before motioning Jughead to go.
Chris waited patiently as Jughead retrieved his belongings before making sure he got inside. Once he knew Jughead was inside, Chris pulled out of the parking lot and made his way to Pops. The last and only salvation of Riverdale left that Chris felt fine with going to.
It was the one place that held the best memories with Chris. The chocolate shop was where Chris met Betty and Archie. Sparking a relationship between Archie and Chris that was undeniably something close to brothers. It was also the place where he considered Pop to be the fatherly figure he had always needed. Always being there to talk to the kid when he needed someone and often let him get away with things inside the diner that most people got yelled at for doing.
So, the place was Chris's second haven apart from his apartment. Pulling in front of the diner, Chris lit a cigarette before stepping outside his car. Not exactly paying attention as a girl in a cloak exited the diner. Both not seeing each other and bumping into each other.
"Watch it, you-" Chris stopped himself before laying his eyes on the girl in front of him. All his anger flushing away as he stared at the beautiful girl in front of him. "I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention." The girl apologized and Chris shook his head as he chuckled softly. "Nah, it was my fault." He reassured as he took a puff off his cigarette.
The pair stared at each other awkwardly as they didn't know what to say. So, instead of letting the weird silence continue to float around them, the girl held her hand out. A polite smile forming on her lips as she stared up at the tattooed man in front of her. "Veronica Lodge." She introduced herself and Chris smiled as he shook her hand. "Chris."
Seeing new someone in this small town was new, and definitely a new girl. Which only made his wide span of his body count increase. It sounded horrible, but every one of the people he's had sex with knew what they were getting. One night to be with him, no strings attached, and nothing after that. Usually, it was with girls, but he's had his dabble in boys. Something he liked keeping on the down-low and didn't think about it often.
Veronica took the moment to scan his hand. Seeing it almost full of tattoos, before her eyes went up to his body. Taking in his black vans, black ripped jeans, his white t-shirt with a leather jacket hugging his built body. Her eyes catching the tattoo on the side of his neck that looked like wings.
Feeling herself slowly become fascinated with the man in front of her. Shaking her head from the thoughts and nodded. "Well, I should be heading back to my mom. She's probably waiting for me." Veronica explained as she slowly backed away and Chris watched her closely as he took another puff off his cigarette. "I'll be seeing you again soon, Veronica." He promised her with a smile as she grinned. "We'll see, Chris."
Right after she said that she disappeared around the corner of Pops. Leaving CJ slightly frowning at the interaction. Wondering why a girl like her was out in a small town like Riverdale. From what Chris could see, she wasn't dressed like any other girl from Riverdale. She looked like she came from the city where everyone in her school dressed nicely.
Even if the interaction wasn't that long, Chris was able to get a read on the person Veronica was. It wasn't anything crazy, but he could tell there was more with the girl than she showed. Like she was hiding something no one could see which had Chris interested.
Everything about the girl had him interested. From her body to her beautiful brown eyes that seemed to have a bit of red in them. A flame in them that showed she was a force to be reckoned with. And that only caused the Jones boy to smirk ear to ear as he tossed his cigarette onto the ground. Crushing it with the heel of his shoe as he chuckled. Entering the diner with the Lodge girl on his mind.
A/N: Pretty rough start I will admit, but I promise you it will get better.
