EXHAUSTION SAT UPON ZIGGY LIKE A weighted blanket as she stood in the lab, her palms resting along the cool island table as she slowly glanced at those that surrounded her. the weekend was over, and it was time to return to school. Ziggy wanted nothing more than to burry her face in her pillow and never come up for another breath.

"Okay, guys." Mr. Davenport began, nervously wiping his sweaty palms on his dark grey button up as he looked at the bionic teens. next to him, stood Leo and Ziggy, watching as he gave the speech to, "you have been trained for all kinds of missions. but you're about to enter a soul-bruising, confidence-crossing apocalyptic environment."

a heavy moment of silence followed, and Ziggy stared down at her shoes and folded her lips inwards at the mans dramatic tendencies. she could see Chase's shoulders tense as his eyes grew wide, unaware of the mans antics to attempt to spook them out of their new mission.

"highschool." Davenport shuddered. Adam rolled his eyes.

"Adam, Bree, your glitch test results are fairly stable." the scientist informed. they both cheered, pumping their fists with a small grin. Bree quirked a brow, bouncing on her toes as she congratulated herself for getting the clear to attend school for the first time. Adam, on the other hand, was proud of himself for being fairly stable. Ziggy shook her head, a strand of auburn hair falling into her frame.

"but, chase, I'm still concerned about your commando app." the man finished. Ziggy pulled her eyebrows together, a small frown tugging at the corners of her lips as she cocked her head.

"his what?" her lips muttered before she could refrain herself. Leo had been just as confused as she was, his upper lip curling with confusion as he crossed his scrawny arms over his chest.

"commando app? put on some underpants, we're going to school!" at Leo's insensitive words, Mr. Davenport gulped, slowly strolling toward the freckled covered boy and placing his hands on his shoulders.

"no, see, in the face of an imminent threat, chase's commando app kicks in and he becomes a fearless brute I like to call spike." Chase couldn't help but shut his eyes and lightly huff in annoyance as Davenport shook his shoulders.

"its kind of like a fight-or-flight thing, except I took out the 'flight', cause useless! and I replaced its with a testosterone level, like a tasmerine evil, wolverine, shark- lion hybrid. . . thats mad. " he began to fumble with his hands as he explained the creation. Ziggy blinked, her face fell flat as she listened to the mans words. Chase glanced at the man, a small smile on his lips.

"don't worry, Mr. Davenport. I promise that spike won't rear his ugly head." the man was not convinced, rolling his dark eyes before cocking his head toward the tall boy with super-strength.

"oh, yeah? you mean like last Christmas when I made the mistake of giving Adam boxing gloves?" Chase's cheeks flushed red as he thought back on the times that the app had kicked in, and he grimaced at the memory of Adam sprawled out on the floor, Chase's foot In the middle of his chest as he pinned him to the cold ground.

Adam shuddered at the memory as well before Davenport shook his head with the wave of his hand, "you know, Chase going to school isn't such a good idea. I can't risk spike coming out." at those words, the kids frowned, absentmindedly trailing behind the man as he strode across the lab.

"oh, come on, big D. chase has to come," Leo pushed, "with these guys, I'll finally get a prime spot in the cafeteria." Ziggy scoffed, the brown skinned boy lifting his eyebrows as he stared at her.

"lets be real. you were never getting a prime spot in the cafeteria." she couldn't help but mock. Leo squeaked and waved a hand as he fought the feeling of being offended.

"don't listen to her, y'all. put on your coats, cause I'm boutta ride your tails!" he grinned widely and began to gallop in place. he received flat stares before he halted.

"look, don't worry. we'll make sure he stays out of trouble. right, guys?" Adam slung his arm around Ziggy's shoulder, and she was quick to tense underneath his touch.

"yeah! it's one for all and all for one. unless, of course, you three make me look bad." she motioned to adam, chase and leo, "in which case, i am ditching you lame-oes."

Chase rolled his eyes and stepped forward, "mr. davenport, I can't miss school. this is the beginning of my academic achievements in career trajectory. I mean, the roads to astronaut lawyer has to start somewhere." he went on. Davenport sighed, a light scoff falling from his lips as he stared at the young boy.

"okay. but, I better not get a call from the art teacher saying that spike ripped through her larynx." he dragged, Chase chuckled at that, "actually, she wouldn't be able to say anything, because spike ripped out her lar--"

the three bionic teens, including Ziggy and Leo, began to chuckle at the mans words as he began to ramble. Davenport shook his head as Adam wandered off.

"the point is, just keep him out of trouble." he finally said.

"hey, look what I found." Adam returned, his fists covered with boxing cloves, a large grin painted on his lips as he approached chase. without warning, he thrusted his fists into his brothers stomach, releasing hard punches to his torso before throwing one last punch to his groin. Chase groaned before collapsing the ground.

Adam gasped in shock and hid behind Bree, his cheeks flushing a light shade of pink. Ziggy brought her fingers up to her lips to stifle her chuckles as she watched chase writhe in pain.

"look, I'm sorry, but if he's that close to the gloves it's gonna happen."

Ziggy stood in the hall way with Bree and Chase, and the Dooley boy. her backpack was slung over her shoulder, and she tucked a thick strand of her auburn hair behind her pierced ear. she could see the excitement in the davenports eyes. as they walked across the hallway, towards the entrance of the cafeteria, Leo forced them to come to a halt.

"okay, you guys. thats principle Perry," Leo pointed to the shorter woman that stood near a small table of unfortunate students. she wore black glasses on the bridge of her thick nose, and her brown hair chopped just beneath her ears, "she has the temperament of a junkyard dog stuffed into a really bad pantsuit."

at his words, Bree's eyes went wide, the stack of text books she held in her grasp suddenly feeling heavy. the five teens watched as principle Perry strode towards a girl dressed in black attire. her jeans clung to her figure, and her fingers tugged on the sleeves of her shirt, "hey! no tongue rings. don't even try to hide it. I will take a metal detector to your face!" the old woman shouted before following the girl with the tongue ring.

Bree diverted her gaze, her brown eyes falling on a tall boy was conversing with his friends. you could see his muscles through his long sleeved t-shirt. his brown hair fell over his forehead, and he was laughing at something his friend had said.

the girls eyes grew wide, a grin painting her lips as she explained to Chase and Ziggy, "this is it. my chance for romance! on TV, the new girl always drops her books, and the cute guy with the soulful eyes always picks them up."

Ziggy pursed her lips, adjusting the backpack that was slung over her shoulder. this girl was delusional, but, she couldn't help but find herself amused, "i'm not sure if that applies to real life situations."

the four teens watched as the tall boy Bree was fixated on turn towards them and begin walking in their direction.

"sure it does! watch this," Bree didn't hesitate to drop her stack of books. the boy changed direction as he spotted his friends, and a man who looked to be a teacher tripped on the fallen books, heading face first into the ground. Ziggy's jaw dropped. the man in the blazer stood, giving her a disapproving glare as she pleaded for forgiveness, as she was a new student.

"okay, your social life is determined by where you sit," Leo began to explain, "we can't sit at the cool table," he pointed to the sound table that was being occupied by the cheerleaders.

"but, we can sit at cool table adjacent." he said cheekily. Ziggy rolled her eyes before she pointed to the so-called cool table.

"hey, by the way, Adam just sat at the cool table." the boy with super strength was making the cheerleaders laugh, holding up two oranges to his eyes and playing Peek-a-Boo. . .

"what? he can't sit there! thats where the football players sit with the cheerleaders. and they pride themselves on finding very clever places to stuff your pudding cup." Leo stressed. Chase grew a smile as he pointed to his older brother.

"but, those cheerleaders are actually talking to them. and they can't talk about shapes and colors forever," Leo stared at him incredulously, "See ya'!"

"No! the football players are gonna turn them into the fifth food group." Ziggy rolled her eyes at the brown skinned boy, shaking her head.

"Leo, would you calm down."

"no, no. this is a rescue mission. move in, move in!" Leo rushed before forcing the two girls to shuffle toward the table. Adam spotted them and immediately perked up.

"oh, hey guys! look, these girls just told me that when the football players get here, im getting a free pudding cup!" the bionic boy said giddily. Leo forced a grin before glancing at a brown haired girl.

"hi!" he waved before leaning toward chase and mumbling from the Side of his mouth, "walk away."

Leo turned to face the girl once again, "how's it going? you're in great danger." he whispered the last bit to chase once again. it wasn't long before the football players entered the cafeteria, announcing their presence with their loud chatter and obnoxious cackles. their smiles fell when they spotted the Dooley boy and the new kids sitting at their table. Trent strode towards Leo, towering behind him before bending down and sniffing the side of his head. Leo immediately ducked away and muttered an apology.

the tall boy slammed his palm on the table, placing his other hand on the crown of Chase's head and forcing the bionic boy to look at him, "hey. thats my seat. get lost before I use you like a napkin."

Chase shrunk back at his words. Bree nervously chuckled.

"chase, we should probably go. he's not very absorbent." she excused her brother. Trent ignored her, grabbing a cup of water and knocking it onto the tables surface, watching as it drenched the cheerleaders pom-poms.

"oh, look, a spill!" Trent announced before grabbing a fistful of Chases striped shirt and forcing him to stand, "I think I'm gonna wipe it up with your face."

Ziggy's face was unreadable as she watched the fearful look on Chase's face wash away, and his lips formed a thin line as his brown eyes narrowed with anger. the genius boy was quick to fight Trents grip and shove his face into the table, "think again, bubble neck. i'm gonna rip your knee caps out and use them as hockey pucks." chase threatened through gritted teeth.

Adam quickly stood from his chair, stumbling around the tables and placing himself next to Ziggy. she watched as he bent down to her level, "okay. I don't mean to alarm anyone, but I think spikes back." he informed.

Ziggy watched as Chase released Trent, and boy stumbling back into his friends grasp, "oh, yeah, Adam. thanks for letting us know." the Sloane girl forced a grin.

Trent glared at the shorter boy, "you have no idea who you're messing with, okay?" he then held his arms out, "pudding cups!" he shouted, two random boys rushed towards him, placing cups of pudding into his grasp. Before Trent could even move, Chase chuckled.

"oh, ill take those." he snatched them from his hands before facing the group of football all players and squeezing the cups, the chocolate pudding staining their clothes.

Ziggy gasped at the sight, watching as Chase proceeded to snarl at them. Trent and his friends flinched back, before getting ready to stride off, "you, okay, okay! you're lucky that we have to go to the reading center right now." Trent shouted before exiting the cafeteria, his cheeks flushing a light shade of pink.

Chase stole a glance at Ziggy, taking in her features before he grinned and strode towards the table, pulling out a chair, "take a seat, sweetheart. this is our table now."

Ziggy made a face and hesitantly sat in the chair, watching as he sat himself down next to her and leaned back comfortably, placing his feet on the table. Leo smirked, and slowly inched toward the cheerleaders.

"hello, ladies. you may remember me from health class when I passed out during the 'miracle of birth' video. its good to see you again."

Ziggy sunk into her seat.
