WHEN THE GROUP REACHED THE beach Finnick didn't sat down with them on the sand, instead he walked towards the water and slowly settle into it.

Kathryn felt the worry still rising in her, so her eyes stayed focused an his back. Katniss and Johanna spoke about something next to her, but she really didn't care about that at the moment.

The brunette kept her eyes trained on Finnick for a moment longer, but after a minute she had enough and slowly approached Finnick from behind.

As the brunette settled down besides him, Katniss leaned over to Johanna. "He heard her voice. I mean, the jabberjays, they had her voice."

Johanna watched the two tributes from four closely. How they sat by the water, their body's close to each other, despite that not touching. "He's inlove with her. Everyone can see it, but her."

The two observed them a moment longer before Johanna finally looked away. "Love is weird."

Kathryn had remained silent the whole time since she sat down besides Finnick. Only listening to the sounds the waves were making.

Her eyes wandered slowly up to his side profile. "Finnick, I don't know what you were going through the last hour but I'm here for -", she tried to get him to open up.

Finnick's head slowly turned towards her and his ocean eyes stared deeply into her's while he spoke, "I love you."

Kathryn's face expression immediately changed while she tried to form actual words. There they were, the three little words she had been so scared off. I love you, three words and her heart stopped for a moment.

"You-", she tried to say, but Finnick interrupted her. He took her hands in his, rubbing circles with his thumb over the back of her hand.

"I loved you from the moment I first saw you walking home from school that day in seventh grade. You always had your hair in a braid. I loved you when you were dancing at all those Capitol events. Kathy, I can't change the fact that you bewitched me, the moment I saw you on that capitol party."

The brunette was starstruck, her mind screamed at her to say something but her mouth just opened a small gap. "I-"

They gazed at each other and Finnick looked at the woman expecting her to say something as Johanna suddenly shouted from the edge of the Jungle. "Finnick!"

The two glanced over their shoulders and Johanna waved them over.

Finnick gave Kathryn one last look before he stood up and slowly walked towards the group.

Suddenly Kathryn snapped back into reality, she quickly stood up, jogging after him. "Wait!"

Finnick turned to face her, a questioning look on his face. Kathryn quickly approached the man. She placed her hand on the back of his neck and softly pulled him down towards her level.

She carefully stroked her hand over the wound on his cheek and then pressed a soft kiss onto his lips.

The man immediately responded, kissing her back. His hands found their way to her waist as he pulled her closer to his body as their lips moved in synchrony.

The woman could feel the warmth of him against her skin. Her brain shut down and she let go of her thoughts, before Johanna's voice suddenly broke them apart.

Kathryn pulled abruptly back and looked up into Finnick's eyes, reaching for his hand before she pulled him back towards the beach.

The two joined the other's under the trees and Kathy sat down beside Peeta. "Where do the Careers feel safe? The jungle?"

"The jungle's a nightmare", Johanna stated, her axe still in her hand.

"Probably on the beach", Peeta said while his gaze fell back on Beete. "Then why are they not here?"

Johanna eyed the man like it was obvious, "Because we are here. We claimed it."

Beete looked up at her, "And if we would leave, they would come."

Finnick leaned against the tree, "Or stay hidden in a tree line."

"Which in just over four hours will be soaked with water from the 10 o'clock wave. And what happens at midnight?". The man looked around, waiting for someone to answer his question.

Katniss stared at him, "Lightning strikes that tree."

Beete continued while he pointed over to the tree. "Here's what I propose. We leave the beach at dusk. We head to the lightning tree. That should draw them back to the beach. Prior to midnight, we then run this wire from the tree to the water. Anyone in the water or on the damp sand will be electrocuted."

Peeta grabbed a hand full of sand as he felt how wet it was. "How do we know that the wire's not gonna burn up?", Johanna questioned the man curiously.

"Because I invented it. I assure you, it won't burn up."

There was a long silence between the tributes, Johanna, Finnick and Kathryn exchanging looks before Kathryn shrugged, "Well, it's better than hunting them down."

"Yeah, why not?", Katniss stated quickly before her gaze shifted to Beete again. "If it fails, no harm done anyway, right?"

"All right, I say we try it", Peeta also agreed with them. "So, what can we do to help?"

"Keep me alive for the next six hours. That would be extremely helpful", Beete said as they all looked at him, nodding their heads.

After the little conversation Katniss and Peeta parted from the other's.

Johanna and Beete stayed on the sand, while Finnick stood in the water, swinging his speer around elegantly.

Kathryn had sat a bit infront of Beete and Johanna, watching him until she got onto her feet and approached the man from behind.

The brunette stood besides him while her gaze shifted towards Peeta and Katniss. The two sat in the sand, talking to each other and Kathryn narrowed her eyes at them.

"Why do I have the feeling that they'll do something stupid?", the woman questioned her tribute partner.

The blonde man chuckled a bit, he stopped his movements and turned towards her. "Because they probably will. Katniss dosen't trust us and Peeta can't say no to her."

Kathryn's gaze found his eyes and she sighed unnerved, "We nearly died while saving them and she still thinks we want to kill her."

The two fell silent, both staring onto the water while the sun slowly disappeared behind the trees of the jungle.

"You know, we make it through", Finnick suddenly stated while he grabbed her hand and planted a kiss on her knuckles.

A smile appeared on the brunette's lips, "We'll be alright." She stepped forward and Finnick leaned down. Their foreheads touching they smiled.

"Okay, lovebirds!", Johanna shouted over at them, clapping her hands together. She looked over at Katniss and Peeta, signaling that it was time for them to go.

THE FOUR QUICKLY JOINED BEETE AND Johanna before they began to make their way through the jungle.

Kathryn felt on edge all the time, her eyes darting nervously over the trees and stones, looking out for anything that seemed somehow suspicious.

The woman flinched as suddenly the Capitol sound reached her ears, making her eyes snap towards the dark night sky.

A picture from Gloss, Cashmere's, Wires, the Morphling and other fallen tributes appeared in the sky before it disappeared again and the music ended.

The group remained silent before they continued their way up the rocks, soon reaching the lightning tree.

"Minimal charring", Beete said as he eyed the tree. "It's an impressive conductor. Let's get started."

The group followed after him while the man continued with his explanations. "Typically, a lightning strike contains five billion volt of energy. We don't wanna be anywhere in the vicinity when this hits."

He pointed towards the coil, "You three girls go together now. Take this. Unspool it carefully. Make sure the entired coil is in the water. You understand? Then head to the tree the two o'clock sector. We'll meet you there."

Peeta's look seemed troubled before he spoke up, "I'm gonna go with them as a guard."

Beete shook his head at him in denial, "No, no, no. You're staying here to protect me and the tree."

Peeta didn't seem to agree with him while he got more pursassive, "No, I need to go with her."

"There are two Careers out there. I need two guards", Beets stated, not giving in.
Peeta seemed like he didn't like that answer, "Finnick can protect you just fine on his own."

"Yeah, why can't Finnick, Kathryn and Johanna stay with you and Peeta and I take the coil", Katniss suddenly questioned him, seeming a little tense.

Johanna suck in a breath while rolling her eyes before she exchanged a look with Kathy. "You all agreed to keep me alive till midnight, correct?"

"It's his plan. We all agreed to it", Johanna spoke up while she stared at Katniss.

Finnick eyed Katniss as well, his eyebrows raised, "Is there a problem here?" Beete nodded his head at the blonde man, "Excellent question."

He studied Katniss closely before she answered him, "No. There's no problem."

The woman approached Peter and gave him one last kiss, "See you at midnight."

"All right, let's go!"

Kathryn and Finnick exchanged one last look, nodding at each other before the three women disappeared behind the trees.

The three took the same way down to the beach as they came up, helping each other climbing over the gigantic stones.

Katniss had the coil in her hands, unspooling the wire. While Kathryn and Johanna walked infront of her.

"Come on. I wanna put as much distance between me and this beach as possible. Frying is not how I want to go", Johanna said before the wire suddenly stopped unspooling.

The three allies stopped walking as Katniss pulled a bit on the wire, "There's something-"

Kathryn felt how a knot formed in her stomach. She knew what was about to come now. The brunette quickly reached for her star shaped knifes before the wire snapped.

Katniss had quickly grabbed her bow and arrow, but Johanna hit the brunette over the head with a thick stone.

In that moment Enobaria and Brutus suddenly approached them, leaving they're hiding behind the stones.

Katniss grunted loudly as she fell to the ground and Kathryn threw a knife at Enobaria to distract the woman.

Johanna bend down and cut out Katniss tracker as fast as she could, making Katniss scream in pain.

Johanna placed her bloody hands on Katniss throat, making it look like she had slit it. "Stay down."

The short haired woman grabbed her axe and threw it at Brutus, but it hit a stone, falling to the ground.

Kathryn and Johanna quickly climbed up the stones, followed by the tributes form District two.

The four dashed through the forest, and from then on it was a race for their lives.

When Kathryn was far enough away from them, she quickly climbed onto one of the trees. Hoping that she wasn't in the sector of the monkeys', the woman sat on a branch, ready to jump down at any second.

Beneath her, a bit further away, Enobaria and Brutus stopped for a moment, whispering to each other before Brutus went the other way.

Enobaria remained under the tree, searching the area around it for Johanna or Kathryn.

The dark skinned tribute came to a stand beneath the tree, looking around.

Kathryn slowly pulled two large daggers out of her pockets and jumped down.

Enobaria caught sighed of her in the corner of her eyes and their blades collided with each other.

The brunette stumbled back as Enobaria lunged at her with her knives. Kathryn quickly avoided the attacks and the two continued fighting before Enobaria pressed Kathryn against the tree.

She exhaled heavily, thinking that would be it as she heard Finnick's voice somewhere further in the jungle, "Kathy! Where are you?"

Enobaria showed her sharp teeth as a smirk made it's way onto her face, "I'm going to rip your throat out and after that blondie will be next."

Suddenly rage flammed up in Kathryn and the brunette kicked Enobaria into her chest and grabbed her head, crushing it against her knee.

Enobaria's nose started bleeding heavily and Kathryn quickly grabbed a dagger from her back pocket and threw it at the woman, hitting her into the chest.

A cannon went off, but Kathryn knew that she hadn't much time to calm herself. She quickly grabbed one of her remaining knives and cut out her tracker.

The pain rushed through her body, blood running over her lower arm as she screamed out.

Her arm hung down, the blood still flowing as she spun around and quickly run towards Finnick's voice.

A tear run down her cheek, "Finnick!"

She pushed through the jungle's plants, crying out his name when suddenly another cannon went off. She stopped, her voice getting caught in her throat for a second.

But then panic took over her body again and she contiued shouting for him until she finally spotted the man between the trees.

The two run towards each other and Kathryn finally stopped crying as she laid in his arms.

The brunette breathed heavily as she snuggled into his touch. "The cannon went off- I- I thought you died", Finnick stuttered, the fear could still be heard in his voice.

The brunette panted heavily
as she gazed up into his eyes, there were a thousand thing going through her head but the only thing she could think about was the fact that she didn't say I love you back.

"I didn't said it back. I didn't say I love you too."

Finnick looked down at Kathryn, giving her a loving look before he
stroked with his thumb over
her cheek, "You didn't need to. You're okay?"

"I'm okay", she assured him, nodding her head as they let go of each other. "But I lost sight of Johanna."

Suddenly Katniss cries pierced though the air, "Peeta!"

The two tributes from District four exchanged a worried look, "That came from the tree."

Finnick and Kathryn quickly dashed towards the lightning tree, calling out for the woman. "Katniss, where are you?!"

The two stood still as they let their gaze wander over the plants, "Katniss?"

Finnick's gaze suddenly fixed on something not far from them and Kathryn followed it. She spotted Katniss, who sat between the plants, her bow and arrow pointing at Finnick.

Finnick slowly lifted his arm into the air, staring at the woman. The two could see that she was struggling with herself.

Kathryn felt like she was about to puke and her eyes watered up in the fear to loose Finnick.

"Remember who the real enemy is", Finnick's voice echoed over the plants.

After a small moment Katniss slowly let her bow and arrow down, her gaze darting over the floor.

A rumbling could be heard from the dark night sky and the three gazed up, spotting a dark cloud, filled with electricity built up.

"Katniss, get away from that tree!", Finnick yelled at her in panic, but the woman grabbed the wire and spun it around her arrow.

Kathryn immediately reacted, quickly dashing towards the woman. "Get away from that tree!"

She had just reached Katniss, trying to pull her anyway but the lightning striked directly into Katniss.

The two women flew away, and Kathryn collided hardly with the ground, her head hitting against a stone.

Smoke rose from her body and her eyelids felt heavier than ever. The woman blinked a few times, her body not moving because of the pain.

The last thing the brunette saw was, the arrow, which hit the dome, shutting it down completey.
