Over the course of the next week, you snuck down to the dungeons every day, at midnight. Loki was always awake: he always knew you were coming and greeted you with a sort of kind smirk.

You could safely waste away the hours down there, with someone who was different to all the mindless Asgardians worshipping your marriage to Thor. You would admit, now, that you were warming up to the other Jotun.

"When is the wedding?" he asked one night.

"Next week," you admitted, rubbing at your hooded e/c eyes destroyed by lack of sleep. "I hate it."

"I do too," he smiled softly, and you returned the action, knowing he was just trying to cheer you up. His lips quickly fell back into seriousness, though. "Such a thing hasn't been done in millennia ... ugh, this is Odin stealing me all over again."

"You were stolen?" you asked curiously, curling your bare feet up under your dress - another number of green and gold.

"Laufey ... abandoned me as a child for my small size, my ... apparent lack of suitability to his child's life of war. Odin took me from the temple to Asgard, and lied about my upbringing all my life."

You stared at him, his beautiful blue eyes, and you sighed. "Guess I should'a known your past before I started judging, huh."

"Well, there are ways to make it up to me," Loki whispered, moving even closer to the barrier.

You'd gotten the guards to remove the shock, so he could lean against the barrier. Your foreheads were only separated by half an inch of magically reinforced glass, and you could see his breath slightly fogging the glass.

"Like what?" you breathed quietly, eyes darting all over his face.

You both put a hand on the glass in the same spot, and you realised ... you'd never be able to touch him again. The one person who's past had made you feel like you remotely belonged, and you could never touch him again. You began to cry, slumped against the glass, and Loki moved back.

"Did I do something wrong ...? Y/N?" he looked down at your sobbing form.

"No ... I just," you stared at him and you realised you had to tell him. How you'd slowly fallen for him over the past few weeks. "I like you, Loki. I really, really like you. And you probably hate me for hating you in the past, but I re-"

"No," he interrupted you, with a sly grin. "I've loved you longer than you've liked me."

"Since when?" you giggled, wiping your eyes.

"Since I first saw you," Loki confessed. "When I saw how beautiful you were as both a Jotun and in your human form ... I fell for you, Y/N."

"I always felt ugly in my Jotun form around humans," you admitted. "But you made me feel beautiful."

"You are beautiful," he reached for you, only to be stopped by the glass.

"All of this has nowhere to go," you motioned between you and him. "And I want to be with you like the stars want to be with the moon, but we are kept so apart..."

"We'll find a way to be together," he promised, pressing his forehead against the glass again, and you could imagine you were separated by nothing.

You managed to pull it together, and smile. "Love you, Loki."

"I love you too."

"Lady Y/N, are you quite well?" Thor asked.

"I'm fine," you said.

"You look as if you've been crying-"

"I'm fine!" you yelled. Thor took a step back, and he looked so hurt that your anger at him disappeared. "I'm sorry."

Thor looks left and right conspiratorially and then, without warning, grabbed you around the waist and flew into the air. You let out a little scream as everything became tiny, until you stood at the top of the tallest tower of Asgard.

"Listen, this will not keep us safe for long," Thor began urgently. "I know that you love Loki."

"I- what?" you lied. "I hate him!"

"Y/N," Thor interrupted. "Like I said: not much time. Anyway, I have a plan to allow you and Loki to be together, and hide you from my father."

"Really?" you felt tears come to your eyes. "How?"

"I can break him out, and Heimdall can shroud you from Odin. But we must pretend to get married first: my friends, the Warriors Three, will break Loki out during the wedding, and we will pretend to try and keep him contained and imprisoned. Then we will spin a story on how he kidnapped you and you shall both be away ... together."

"Thor," you hugged him fiercely. "Thank you so much."

He embraced you back. "I want you to be happy, Y/N. And you're happy with Loki."

"Lady Y/N! Prince Thor!" you turned, and saw one of Odin's guards, huffing and puffing from the run up the tower. "Odin summons you."

Uh oh ...
