007 — FIREWORKS

Flynn led Rapunzel to the docks where people were getting on the boats, he had borrowed a small one and held out his hand for Rapunzel, gently guiding her into their boat as the sun began to set. He climbed in after reaching for the two ores as he began to row them out further away from the other boats.

Rapunzel looked confused as she saw the other boats much closer to the docks. "Where are we going?" She asked looking around seeing that no other boats were in their area.

"Well, best day of your life. I figured you should have a decent seat." He shrugged as he continued to row the boat for a few minutes until he turned the boat slightly and that's when Rapunzel could see the whole city in front of her.

She suddenly felt so small, she sighed softly as her nerves kicked in, she had wanted to experience this day her whole life but she could still hear her Mother's words in the back of her head reminding her that it would all be over soon.

"You okay?" Flynn asked noticing that she hadn't said anything yet like she normally would.

"I'm terrified" She replied softly as she looked over at him to see that he was already staring back at her.

Flynn looked confused. "Why?" He wondered thinking that she would be excited.

Rapunzel shrugged as she fiddled with the sleeve of her dress. "I've been looking out a window for 16 years, dreaming about what it might feel like to be here and...what if it's not everything that I dreamed it would be?" Her voice cracked slightly.

"It will be." Flynn insisted, he knows now that he would do anything to see her smile everyday.

"And what if it is? What do I do then?" She asked him the question that had been on her mind for the past two days. She had been having so much fun with Flynn and in all honestly she didn't want to go back to her tower, because now that she's experience life outside her past life feels like a prison, like she's trapped with no way out. She doesn't want that for herself even if it is to keep her safe.

"Well, that's the good part, I guess. You get to go find your dream."

Rapunzel liked Flynn's idea but knew that was never possible. She would never be allowed to stay out here, sooner or later she would be back in her tower locked away for another 100 years.

She said nothing as she turned back to look out at the city. Flynn eventually got bored of waiting for the display as he started to gently pick out the flowers from Rapunzel's hair and dropped them one at a time into the water watching them float around them, Rapunzel soon joined in as Flynn held his hand out, holding the flowers in his hand as Rapunzel plucked one out and gently laid it in the water.

A gasp left her mouth as she jumped up causing the boat to rock as the first firework went off into the sky. She grabbed onto the end of the boat in excitement as she watched one after the other shoot off into the sky. She then saw more come from the boats not too far from them and gasped in delight as they were let off into the night. It was beautiful seeing all of the fireworks over the city. She had never been able to see them up close only from the small window of her tower.

Flynn cleared his throat and held out a couple sparklers that he had taken for them. She smiled as she moved to sit opposite him.

"I have something for you, too." She said as she grabbed Flynn's bag and nervously showed him. She didn't know if her Mother was going to be right or not but she had a feeling that Flynn wouldn't leave her.

"I should have given it to you before, but I was just scared. The thing is I'm not scared anymore, you know what I mean?" She asked him hopefully as she presented it to him.

Flynn gently lowered the bag as he looked her in the eye. "I'm starting to." He replied as he gently took her hands and placed them around the firework as he lit it, her eyes lit up as she watched the mini firework sparkle. She drew random patterns with in as giggles left her body, Flynn soon joined in as he kept watching her smile, They both felt somewhat complete.

Rapunzel soon went back to staring at the fireworks in amazement as it all seemed like a dream as they all went off around them. Flynn gazed at her watching as the fireworks lit up her face, he smiled softly as he realised he had developed some strong feelings for the girl.

He gently took hold of her hand making her turn and face him as they locked eyes. He lifted one hand to her face as he tucked a stray hair away before carsssing her neck and leaning forward. Rapunzel closed her eyes as she automatically leaned in to meet him.

Just as they were about to kiss however, he caught sight of some of Marcel's vampires grabbing his attention. Rapunzel having been waiting for Flynn to close the space between them opened her eyes as she noticed his focus being elsewhere.

Rapunzel noticed his eyes suddenly shift. "Is everything okay?" Her heart sank a little.

"Huh? Oh yes." He said looking back at her, chuckling nervously not wanting to worry her. "Yes, of course, I just..." he suddenly looked down at his bag which was still besides Rapunzel. "I need to do something okay?"

He led them back to shore and quickly he hoped out of the boat leaving Rapunzel inside. "I'm sorry. Everything is fine there's just something I have to take care of." Rapunzel looked from Flynn to the bag he had just taken back, she really thought that things were changing but maybe not.

"Okay." She responded defeated trying not to sound too worried.

"I'll be right back." He promised placing a quick kiss to her forehead as he turned away walking into the direction he saw the two vampires.

Flynn walked over to the two vampires feigning a casual demeanor.

"Hey Fellas, how's your day been? Mine, personally has been pretty great!." He laughed trying to ease the tension he could feel around them. "The sideburns are coming in nice, huh?" He joked gesturing to one of the guys facial hair, he wasn't amused however.

Flynn cleared his throat. "Anyhow, I just wanted to say I shouldn't have taken this in the first place, it's all yours give my apologies to the big guy." He threw the bag over to the two men who glanced at each other before looking back to Flynn.

"Holding out on us again, eh, Rider?" One of them spoke up leaning in closer to the boy.

"What?" Said Flynn confused not knowing what they were talking about.

"We heard you found something. Something...much more valuable than this necklace." He grumbled kicking the bag a few feet away in disinterest.

Flynn stepped back a few feet suddenly realising that they were talking about Rapunzel, he needed to get out of there. He kept walking back trying to not seem suspicious when his back hit something, or well someone.

The other guy pushed him forward as he chuckled deeply. "Not so fast pretty boy. Klaus wants a word with the girl, you see you've been keeping information from us Ryder, magical hair seems pretty priceless to me."

Rapunzel was getting anxious waiting around for Flynn. It had been at least half an hour and there was still no sign of the boy, she was slowing giving up hope on him ever coming back. After a few moments she heard footsteps approach.

"Finally, I was starting to think you ran off with the bag and left me." She sighed in relief thinking that he came back, but as she looked up she soon realised it wasn't Flynn walking towards her.

She quickly scrambled back trying to escape the vampire that continued to step towards her. She turned to run but stopped abruptly as another stood behind her blocking her path.

"I-I don't have anything. Please just let me go." She begged as she backed away into the first guys chest, she squeaked trying to make space but he grabbed her holding her in place by her shoulders.

His hand trailed through her hair. "Oh, don't worry sweetheart, you're much more valuable than you know. Sleep tight." He chuckled before knocking her out.

sorry it's been so long since I updated, just haven't felt motivated to write recently and had a ton of college stuff to finish
