Lapins and mountain climbing!
"I should've worn some warmer clothes. These don't give much protection." Alice spoke as fog passes out of her mouth. All three huffing at the lack of breath. "It's getting colder. The wind's picking up," Luffy commented making Sanji look at him as his gaze lowered to his feet.
"Why aren't you wearing socks? Just looking at you makes my feet hurt." He complained making Alice hum. "It's my police!"
"Police?" Alice questioned her brother's mental state.
"Don't you mean 'policy'?" Sanji corrected.
"Yeah, that."
"Alice! You don't have anything on! You are bare foot!" He yelled pointing at her feets.
"Hey, don't point. Also, I can't feel the cold."
"Obviously! It's probably numb by now. You can't feel anything," he signed. Both are mental. Like brother like sister but she is one step ahead.
Luffy slowed down when he saw his sister stopping. "Keep up, Alice." She turned and nodded before walking towards a bush and plucked some flowers and ran back to them. Sanji kept his eyes on her until she was beside him. "Don't get distracted. You will get lost," he warned making her nod with a grin. She put the flower beside Nami's ear making her open her eyes. "Sorry, Nami. The flower looks good on your hair." She said with a happy smile that Nami couldn't help but return. "...thank you.." It was some blue ones she placed while she held the mix of blue and purple ones in her hand. Sanji took it and pushed it inside her rubber band around her ponytail.
"Look at you. Can't see the difference between you both!" He said making her blush in embarrassment. "Thank you, Sanji,"
Luffy laughed, happy to see his sister being treated like a princess. He looked back at Nami and saw her asleep again.
"By the way, did you know that people who live in snow countries don't sleep?" Luffy asked making Alice hold back her giggle. What kind of drugs was his parents on when they gave birth to him?
"Huh? Why not?" Sanji asked.
"Well, if they fall asleep, they'll die." He replied as if it was obvious making Sanji irk. "That's ridiculous! Everybody has to sleep!!" He yelled at Luffy while Alice signed.
"It's true. I heard it a long time ago from someone." Luffy argued making Alice look at him. Who said him that?
"Did Usopp tell you that?" Sanji asked which caused Alice to laugh before him and she hoped when something jumped at them. "Nope, I heard it in a village tanvern"
"Then why did Dalton have a bed in his house?" Sanji asked making Alice smile at the unholy thoughts in her mind. "Oh... you're right! That must be his deathbed."
"You idiot!" Alice pulled Sanji's collar down as someone jumped past them.
"Don't say things like that about Dalton-san, he did help us, you know" Alice said making Luffy pout but nodded. "Then did you know this? Snow country woman have silky smooth skin." Sanji said as Alice rubbed her skin and nodded to herself. Tough and strong. Just how I like it.
"How come?" Luffy questioned. "Isn't it obvious?"
All jumped when a tree had fallen down infront of them few seconds ago.
"When it's cold, you rub your skin like this, right?" Sanji said while demonstrating by rubbing his jacket. They bend down and hopped to dodge the animals. Alice stopped, looking at the fallen thing and realised they were rabbits. Big rabbits. Must be lapin's that Dalton-san warned about. They don't seem all that dangerous to me...
"That makes it soft and smooth. Smooth, translucent white skin... that's snow country woman for you." He said making Alice look back at the front and ran back to to them. "Hmmm, I wonder what makes it white," Luffy mumbled.
"The colour of the snow gets absorbed into the skin naturally." Sanji replied joyfully. Hearts twirling around him. "You know," Luffy spoke before jumping when a Lapin pounced at him. "I never knew you were so stupid."
"YOU'RE CALLING ME STUPID?" Sanji yelled angrily at him. "Anyway," he said before taking a huge breath. "I'M GETTING TIRED OF THIS!!!" He kicked the lapin which was in his way, about to attack him as well.
"What was that thing anyway?" Luffy asked, not caring that they were in their way.
"Must be the Lapins Dalton-san spoke about." Alice replied while dodging one of them. "Quite energetic, they are"
"Tell me about it..." Sanji signed tiredly.
"Just hang on, Nami. We're gonna get you to a doctor." Sanji assured Nami as Alice pulled the hood on her head lower since it was falling back due to the harsh wind.
"It's really snowing hard up here." Luffy commented as he stomped to move forward. The thick snow under them made it hard to move forward for them. "Luffy, try to step more lightly. You're jostling Nami." Sanji warned concerned for Nami and annoyed at him. Alice was few steps ahead of them, who was doing fairly better then them at moving even with the snow reaching her thighs.
"You don't seem to have trouble, Alice," Luffy questioned making her walk backward and grinned at him. "I have strong hip strength. Men have their center of gravity on their shoulders and woman on their hips or waist, I'm not sure. And I have a lot of strength on every part of my body, thanks to Zoro. This is probably why it is helping me in moving faster."
Sanji blinked and nodded. "Yea, that makes sense."
"Because I'm smart." Alice replied with a grin. She stopped when she bumped into something and turned to find a huge rabbit looming over her. She walked backward between the two boys and gawked at them. Both letting out sounds of confusion. They were tall and buff. Fluffy too.
"What are they!!?" Sanji exclaimed loudly as Alice gawked at them mumbling about how soft and fluffy they look. That earned a look from Sanji. "They're big and white, so they must be polar bears. Yeah, that's it!!" Luffy held onto his beliefs.
It glared down at them before jumping. "IT'S FLYING!!" Sanji yelled and jumped of the way, letting out a sound of suprise along with Luffy and Alice, the latter choosing to stay by Nami's side. The rabbit pounded it's fist on the ground creating a small hole.
"I can't believe it! Did you see that move!? Is it some kind of gorilla!!?" Sanji exclaimed frantically. His eyes darting towards Nami and Alice to make sure they were alright.
"No!! They're polar bears!!" Luffy yelled back at him while stabling himself from the jump. "No, they're rabbits!"
"But you just said they were gorillas!"
"Like Alice said before, they must be lapins! Those things are definitely what Dalton had warned us about!" Sanji defended Alice who let out breath from looking into the red beady eyes of the lapins, ignoring their argument completely.
"Beautiful......red is really one of the most beautiful colours out there...." Her eyes shone is admiration and interest. She smiled at the baby lapin which was peeking behind it's parent. The ramble in a distance made her and the two boys snap their head towards it.
"Crap! There's a lot of 'em!!" Sanji's looked towards the herd of lapins and looked at the siblings who seemed like they were happy to see them.
"Those things are well adapted to the snow country....if they move around like that!" He let out a puff of smoke as Alice narrowed her eyes at the small hole it made on the ground. "We're at a big disadvantage," she completed his sentence receiving a nod from him. "Exactly."
"The hole the lapin made is small but big enough to trip and give yourself a concussion." Alice observed and commented making Sanji sweatdrop. "That's good observation?"
"I know, thank you♡"
"Listen, luffy! Don't try to fight them!!" Sanji warned Luffy, holding out a hand out towards him as to physically explain him to not move forward. "Why not?"
Alice looked at him softly. "It might not be the best for Nami. The cold air and movement might be like needle on her skin. The fever isn't the best thing to get," She explained making him furrow his brows in concern.
"If you mix it up with them, every blow you give it take will be felt by Nami!!" Sanji pressed on the matter, mentally thanking Alice for making Luffy realise how serious this was.
"She'll die, I'm serious." Alice smiled at him knowingly. He just wants Luffy to take this seriously. Nami won't die but this would worsen her situation. She watched as a baby lapin ran off towards the woods making her wonder if there is a way out of here without having to face these lapins. One of them let out a loud roar.
"I-I got it. I won't fight!!" Luffy replied resulting soft chuckles from Alice. He dodged the paw attack directed towards him. "But what am j supposed to do!??" He yelled holding the sword tightly. Sanji and Alice dodged and jumped respectively. "Just dodge!!"
"....Dodge 'em"
"and run!!"
"And.....don't fight!!"
"THAT'S GONNA BE HARD!!"
Alice moved away before a lapin could body slam her and huffed as her breath ran low. She dropped on all fours before her body changed into full black animal with a golden locket hanging on its neck. Bandages still on the hind legs as the clothes magically disappeared because of One piece logic. No complaints!
She could hear Sanji using one of his moves to kick the lapin as she swayed her tail and looked at the lapins, trying to intimidated them. Her yellow-green eyes and complete black body of a Black Panther was exactly like a predator.
Some of them did get intimidated but once their children got scared, they hissed and snarled at her. She hissed back making few turn their tails. Luffy looked at her in awe, seeing his sister fight in her full form along with her voice sounding like an actual animal was so cool!! He was shining all around.
"SO COOOOOOL!!! ALICE! TEACH ME HOW TO DO THAT!!"
Alice smirked though they didn't know that since she was fighting and couldn't really see her mouth.
"You mean make you go through the torture? No thanks, brother. I would rather see you smile," she whispered to herself as she grinned before pouncing on a lapin who was scared to throw her off but did so to keep the children safe. She hit the tree hard, slumping down before jumping right back in the fight.
"Alice!!"
She looked back towards Sanji who was running back. She increased her size and her tail strength before she ran towards him and scooped him and Luffy on her back and ran as fast as she could.
"Woah!! This is cool! Alice, you are the most amazing person I've met!!" Luffy exclaimed happily while rubbing and patting her back. Sanji tried to be gentle as this could hurt her but realised that it is pointless since his feet can't reach the ground so his entire weight is on her.
"Stup up! Alice, are you okay? Are we weighting you down?" Sanji asked, placing his hands on her. It felt weird to feel fur knowing it's Alice.
"No worries, I carried more people then this! You two and Nami are feathers!"
He nodded before turning around to see if they have caught up yet. Befire he could warn to dodge left, she already slid towards left making him gape at her.
"How did you know...?"
"I looked?" She replied before increasing her speed as wind hit the boy's face harshly, their mouth flapping because of it.
Sanji seemed impressed. She is keeping a lookout both on the front and the back. She must've trained or something had happened to make her multitask.... Alice is definitely full of surprises all the time.
"Alvise!! Wook! We wan wet up thwat way!!!" Luffy yelled through the wind hitting him as Sanji held onto her back and kicked the lapin which jumped towards them. [ Alice!! Look! We can get up that way!!! ]
"Alright, Sanji, hold tight. Luffy make sure Nami is alright, and don't get blown away!!"
She increased her speed and ran faster. They could barely see through the wind shutting their eyes. Her eyes shifted around for refugee as her tail swayed threateningly.
Suddenly the sound of running stopped making her turn back to look and stopped as they retreated. She slowly turned so Luffy and Sanji could see.
"They....gave up?" Alice mumbled in confusion before she shook her body so Sanji won't get down. "Don't get down yet,"
"I have a bad feeling about this." She said and looked as they moved back, standing along with other lapins. Few started jumping as one by one every single one started doing it. Her eyes widened as the realisation clicked in her mind.
She turned back and ran fast back. Somewhere! Anywhere! She hoped they would find a place before the disaster. Luffy and Sanji held her tightly.
"Alice! What's wrong?" Luffy asked hugging her neck as Sanji held Nami to keep her from falling. "They are creating a huge snowblow! It's a fucking Avalanche!!!"
As soon as she said that Sanji looked back and his eyes widened at the sight of snow falling down the mountain. His eyes filled with tears.
"They've gone and done it, those darn rabbits!....no way.."
"What's a Avalanche?" Luffy asked confused as to what the two are fussing over about.
"Look behind!!"
One look and Luffy was kicking Alice lightly on her side. "FASTER!!! WE ARE GONNA DIE!!!"
She ran towards a random ledge she found before it broke under their weight. Sanji grabbed a random wood he could find and leaned forward before feeling a jerk and realised that he grabbed a tree.
"Alice! Turn yourself normal!! We'll go futher through this tree or whatever!!"
He threw it forward before the two jumped as she turned herself back into her bodyself. Sanji pulled her into the sleigh as she started to rapidly kick the snow from back of the tree. This made them move forward.
They glided through the snow smoothly and rapidly. The lapins however, came beside them also standing on top of wooden pieces. Alice's eyes itched badly and her arms and legs hurt. More so because she had to increase she size and carried three people.
"We're gonna get buried by the snow!!! But we're heading back down the mountain awful fast!!" Luffy yelled from his place in the front. She heard Sanji say something but couldn't hear through the wind. She knew it was about almost saving Nami but then this happened.
The lapins started attacking so she kicked them away along with Sanji. She huffed, hard at breathing. She wondered which animal can breath well in cold and snowy climate but she couldn't transform into them just like that unless she knew it's anatomy and how it's body works. Panther and tiger are the only ones she knows completely so she can transform into them without trouble but now what!?
She breathed heavily as snow isn't really her ideal climate to fight in. She is like a camel here. Sticking out like a sore thumb.
She gripped Sanji's jacket and wrapped her arms around his neck. Before he could say something, she pointed forward with her hand. "Look ahead, you two!! It's a rock, we're gonna crash!!!"
She racked ber brain to think of a plan but she couldn't. If they jump away, they will get carried away with the snow. But if they stay as they are, they will be hit by the rock.
As they neared the rock and before she could do anything, Sanji gripped her arms and pushed her off the tree right before they hit the rock and tossed Luffy after they hit the rock. She looked him in the eyes as he smiled at her before Alice hit the snow and immediately got under it as snow covered her body and buried her under it. She trashed around to create friction and heat before making room for air. After few minutes she let out a breath in relief as her eyes shone in joy. She could see the sky now. She dig harder and pulled herself out. Now realising her senses were numb.
She walked towards the edge and saw Luffy placing his hat on Nami.
"Luffy!"
He looked up and smiled at his sister before standing up and hugging her.
"You did great!" He said before pushing his hat on her head. She looked at him confused as the hat tilted over her eyes making her hold it properly. "I'll go get Sanji, stay with Nami." He said before diving in the snow. She stepped forward as he did so but stopped and looked behind to see Nami huffing, barely able to breath. Shs walked towards her and rubbed the area around her chest to create warmth to help her breath.
She didn't open her eyes making Alice worry. Luffy isn't back yet. She looked up at the castle, tilting the hat as she did so. It was big on her head. It felt like they were at back at square one after struggling through the harsh snow to get on top and now the lapins and avalanche. Her own face red from the cold. Her nose and ears being extra red because they were more sensitive to cold.
She heard shuffling and turned back to find Luffy carrying an unconscious Sanji. She expected it.
She got up and helped him up before he settled Sanji down. She did the same thing to Sanji, rubbing the area around his chest to help his breath better.
She put Sanji on her back as gently as she could. She looked at Luffy who smiled at her when she did so. She walked towards him snd placed her forehead against his after tip toeing. The cold air hitting eachother through their huffing. He searched her eyes for something but she smiled and titled her head down as the hat slid down and on his head. He held it there and looked at her with furrowed brows.
"Are you alright?" He asked as she started walking back towards the top. She looked back and gave him a grin matching his energy like he always has. "Of course. We need to get to the top now!"
He picked up Nami and nodded.
After few minutes of walking in the cold. They could see the mountain clearly and was almost in front of them. They needed to walk a few more minutes.
Alice's legs trembled as she held up Sanji by his thighs, his arm wrapped around her shoulder loosely. Her chest and arms were begging to rest as they left like they were burning.
"I'll get you there, I promise!!" She looked at Luffy when she heard him say that. Her body filling with determination.
"Don't die! Either of you..."
"I want to drink a warm soup after Nami is alright. And once we get Sanji on top..." Alice said and huffed at the end. Luffy looked back and smiled at her. "Of course, I promise we'll eat a ton of food."
She grinned at him.
"Look!! There they are, King wapol!!"
"I'll beat them to death!!"
The people who attacked Merry before were here. They were looking for a fight with them. Alice furrowed her brows in annoyance.
Luffy pushed her back with a bump on her shoulder. She looked at him questioningly but did as he wanted her to. She kept walking as he followed behind her. Now did he notice the tremble and limping in her legs.
Befire he could say anything, there was battle of cry behind them before he kicked them. Alice merely glanced a worried look at Luffy. He never experienced cold climate like this, this is obviously taking a toll on him. But he isn't letting her fight either.
Just as the guys were about to attack again, something slammed on the king and swatted away the two henchmen. Alice looked and realised that it was the lapins. The baby lapin walked towards her and pulled on her pants. She crouched down, being careful with Sanji's long ass legs. The lapin placed a flower behind her ear and caressed her chin with his head. She smiled at the baby lapin as the other lapins assured the siblings that they will take care of them.
The lapin nodded making them nod back happily before waving them goodbye and ran towards the mountain.
"We are almost there, Luffy." Alice huffed as he smiled through the cold. "Yea, almost there!"
They stopped when they were right in front of it. "I didn't realise that this was so huge...." Alice awed at the height. They couldn't even see the top. She tied his jacket around Nami and his waist, making sure it was completely secured. She removed her jacket and Luffy did the same with her and Sanji. Sanji's leg dragged on the snow before she and Luffy started climbing up the mountain.
Few minutes in and the harsh wind which almost dropped them back to the ground and the cold rock of the mouth completely numbed their hands. Luffy placed his hands on a rock before loosing the placing as his leg slipped. He slid down but Alice held his hand before he could fall.
He looked up and saw her gritting her teeth, holding his, Sanji and Nami's weight and still held onto the rock with her might. Her eyes were full of life and determination. He truly admired her strength now. A new found respect. She reminded him of someone he knew when he was young. She smiled at him through pain.
"We can do this, Luffy. Yeah?" He grinned widely before holding the rock and climbed to her height. "Heck yeah, we will!!"
This is a lot hard with weight on my back. The sticky palms are not working at all.
She looked at Sanji and saw peaceful passed out.
You gotta make me a meal for this!
She huffed before she concentrated on climbing.
After Luffy chipped his nails off and Alice scrapped her skin off her knee and forearm, along with losing some of her nails as well, they finally made it to the top.
She let out a breath of relief and closed her eyes. Smiling to herself before sleep consumed her.
Her breathing irregular but now calmed down from the panicked breathing she was doing earlier. Luffy smiled at her before closing his eyes as well. He slipped down the snow but before he could fall down, a large furry hand caught him and pulled him back on top.
