POSITIVE
considerate
pride doesn't decipher the compassion and thought of others. hickory is more than helpful and doesn't appear to mind aiding a fellow canine or other species of animal. she has a continuous streak of worrying for others rather than her own—maybe a certain tactic to distract herself from personal struggles she suffers to enclose and solve. the canine has a qualm of believing no one is birthed horrid or malicious and frets over common etiquette and manners. though, funny to say she forgets about mannerisms in the presence of close companions.

open
upon infliction and dispelling of her own dignity, hickory has established a strong sensory to sensitivity and vulnerability. she's apparent in her proposals and suggestions—taking refusal and rejection at heart with transparent dissatisfactory. her voice is shaken with emotion and thoughts floundered in ideals. hickory's mindset is a novel with an added postal page, each drag of the ink a telltale in subtle hints and dropped clues for the naked eye to capture.

NEUTRAL
maternal
the instincts of a maiden dog never birthed or bred floods throughout her system, overwhelmed by the conquer of desperate motherhood. her affections are gifted to companions and tight knit family. she bumps noses, brushes a smooth tongue over the surface of fur and skin, and gladly envelops her body around another for warmth and security. the instinct and protective nature of hickory is somewhat overbearing, yet the habits never die.

intuitive
carried by her instinct and driven by her gut, hickory relies of pure conscience in dire situations. she gets a good feel for someone and their intent and holds actions accountable. she believes when her body tells her to be a afraid or relieved: spiking of her fur, tense shoulders, or an acceleration of her heartbeat.

NEGATIVE
stressed
hickory over burdens herself; it's a simplistic fact. she's a worry wort and will drive herself absolutely mad with the endless decree of risks an outcome may have. what if this leads to injury? damage? death? everything that is of a bad outcome will cross paths in her mind, combine themselves, and ultimately begin to twist into an impossible fate to leave behind a whining, whimpering, pacing female dog. nothing is to blame except her own anxiety as her personality wrings worry and panic.

solemn
she is outwardly calm and upfront; however, hickory is also a somewhat sullen canine. the lab will often raise her head to gaze at the stars and find something deep and ugly behind it. even the beauty makes her feel guilt and sorrow. her energy is sometimes grasped from thin air only to leave her depleted and absolutely relentless on activity to distract a mind ridden with thoughts of possibilities and an unreachable dream. doesn't mean she's hopeless- just sad.

✘coconut water is delicious, albeit harder to get to

✘overcrowded places—specifically people
✘loud noises such as cars, motors, etc.

MOTHER
lilac
hickory's mother was a female dark golden retriever gone by lilac. their bond was sweet, nurturing, and short lived. she was taught the righteousness of a loyal dog and the harsh lessons of turning over into a good dog instead of a bad one. hickory hopes her mother is alive and well. for what it's worth she was part of a successful, healthy litter of pups.

FATHER
mihst
a lighter pelage of blonde for her father, mihst, their relationship was also okay. he was the laid back father who left the discipline and overall care to lilac. he didn't build much of a relationship with hickory, only attentive to her brothers, and would casually teach her manners when necessary. she believed he was much older than her mother and therefore concluded he's passed on or living woefully as an elderly, neutered male.

SIBLING(S)
all of her siblings played a minor role in her life; she had little to no relationship with them and their emotional connections are dim.

MATE
none.

LOVE INTEREST
opal —
a simple crush formed from constant bonding and a growing friendship. she was a fellow dog in the same household with hickory who had, unfortunately, became aware of her romanticism towards another female. the momentum allowed hickory an awakening to her homosexuality, and also ended badly. their friendship broke, and their relationship now is either on an indefinite hold or shattered after a confession gone wrong.

PUP(S)
none, and doesn't plan to birth any.

FRIENDS
fennec —
a typical small female chihuahua who ended up ashore a year or so after hickory. they complimented each other; both size and mentality wise. their relationship mostly relies on awareness for predatory animals and any form of peculiar movement or other arrivals. however, the female chihuahua suffers an extreme case of anorexia; she keeps a thin frame from the extreme former abuse of the family she lived with. she is still in recovery- never truly got out of it- as all she has is hickory and constant relapses causes the journey to a normalized self and healthy body weight more difficult.

ENEMIES
none, hickory tends to keep to herself and not become bothersome anymore. she's settled in on the island and doesn't intend to cause a ruckus and be a hindrance to the other animal residencies.

ALLIES
pack of kaipo —
the pack of kaipo is a large group of wild dogs led by a strong monarch named neptune and her mate ulai. their pack consists of all their pups (grown included).

she was born in a warm, comforting household. the people there were kind, experienced breeders with a license. with lilac, her mother, and mihst, her father, they both played parental roles of discipline and affection—however short they were together for. hickory and her siblings were taught kindness, mercy, and confidence. after the pups were weaned and sent off to their homes, hickory adopted by a considerate one child family, she didn't keep any contact of her parents or siblings. the memories simply faded, and her love dwindled. not to say it wasn't spared- for she now grew love for her new family consisting of a teenage boy, his two mothers, a dad, and a german shepherd. yes, it was a polygamous relationship, but everyone was fair and loved one another equally.

of course, with the teenage boy growing up, he grew more independent. with less time spent with hickory, and more time cooped up in his room figuring his own life out, the golden-locked dog was unfortunately put outside with the fellow german shepherd. of course, with jealousy she was mocked for being an inside pet before easily disposed of outside. they were offered nice gourmet kibble, fresh water, and had two large dog houses with a bigger backyard, but the comfort of sleeping on a bed and being in an area with air conditioning left hickory to be mournful and self-wallowing. why didn't they keep her inside? just because their son didn't play with her anymore she had to join opal, the german shepherd, outside? it was an abrupt change she wasn't used to.

luckily, the teasings didn't last long—or as long as hickory estimated they would. after a week or two, opal became more open and laid back. usually opal's shoulders would tense and the scent of jealously would waft into hickory's nose with no remorse. but now, hickory could relate to opal. they understood each other with the similar living conditions. the only reason it was adaptable was because hickory had someone to socialize with and familiarize herself. after a hot second they would crack occasional jokes, run around the backyard to let off some steam, and even play in the pool the family set up for them. they told each other secrets: opal admitting every new crush she alternated between neighboring males. hickory would hesitantly formulate quick responses when questioned of her own interests, and the two she-dogs bonded over attractions and a building friendship.

but feelings weren't mutual. hickory's newfound feelings of fondness for opal sprung onto her like a jet, and often times caused her to shift moods quite easily. her own perplexed emotions caused her to coop herself in the dog house, lash out, and give attitude to the older female dog. it was so confusing, she had no idea why this attraction was happening towards her and what it was. this small rift caused a larger crack in their relationship to form. in fact, both were quite dormant with each other. their friendship took a major pause with opal left confused, angry, and worried. it wasn't until hickory's one year heat formed that realization crossed; these feelings towards opal was attraction. when the german shepherd was near, her body would grow hot and she'd unconsciously quiver in anticipation—leaving both her and her friend confused.

three nights in her heat, opal and her were together. it was supposed to be a one time thing—a quick relief for hickory to stop her agony. after all, opal had assumed the she-dog was simply suffering because she had no desire to risk getting impregnated by one of the males. in fact, the favor for opal to chase away any males herself made the female interpret it as just that: avoiding pregnancy. it may have been awkward the next morning, but opal acted like the night never happened. with hickory's fondness, and this being her first time with someone, she felt a void when opal brushed what they'd done off and returned to being the caring older friend. it all ticked the golden retriever off. eventually, with weeks built up of frustration, a couple nights later she confessed. she confessed everything: how she thought she felt, how she had been feeling, and what continued to replay on her mind. hickory went as far as to bump noses to which opal retracted from in dismay.

the german shepherd female was confused. she had no attraction to hickory—well, she did, but wasn't able to accept them. thus, she quickly rejected her friend in fear and repulsiveness, shutting their relationship down. this led to hickory getting mad at such harsh words given to her. a simple no would have sufficed; why did she have to go so far as to insult her? invalidate her feelings even. this left both parties feeling hurt as they verbally fought with each other. it escalated with opal physically shoving hickory away from her, to which the golden retriever tucked her tail, scowled, and left to sleep near the back door outside. they didn't talk to each other after that.

with her luck, the graduated teenager was being sent off the college soon near a relative's house. he had the option of choosing who he would like to take with him as a means of personal connection with home, and he chose hickory. months passed of hickory and opal ignoring each other before hickory was soon taken with the college student to the airport. he bid his farewells to his three parents as hickory got a dosage of sleeping pills to keep her from getting antsy. however, the trip didn't make it as planned. in fact, the plane ended up crashing. the weather was bad, and the wind was so harsh, they ended up colliding with an unknown island. the plane had no actual human survivors as they either died from internal bleeding or from impact. hickory however, and another chihuaha gone by fennec, made it out.

with constant struggles did they manage to survive and adapt. it was difficult; they faced many hurdles. the animals who lived previous and still inhabited the island, predators and whatnot. but they managed, and have lived on the island ever since. sure, both get lonely and miss their homes, but they can't exactly remember the past faces all that well anymore. time has passed, and they're content somewhat.

BY THE BAY
genre: adventurous
waves crashed against jagged rock, surface damp and dangerously ridged. the seagulls above squawked as they glided along the gloomy, gray filled sky, the wind ruffling alabaster feathers. beady eyes peered on the land below, two figures sprawled along the cool sand. a person occupied a space, his skin glistening as damp cloth clung uncomfortably to his body. beside him a dog lay: you. your fur was just as damp, the scent of salt stung the inside of your nose and carried onward to a dry mouth.

coughing, your throat convulsed as water splattered from your muzzle and between your paws. vision struggling to focus, you watched the beige color of the coast before raising your head—eyes musty from swimming too long. you remember; the boat had suddenly begun to sink and shake beneath your pads. the yells of a deep vocal present in your owner as he beckoned you toward him, grasping onto your body and jumping off. you both paddled a fair deal before exhaustion and dropping temperatures took a toll. next was a blackout. guess the ocean carried both bodies ashore safely. glancing over, your owner still rested.

you couldn't bring yourself to bother him. not in the condition he was in. sighing, your gaze swept ahead to the forestry. a thick blanket of lush bushes and vivid plants you could bet inhabited new dangers and curiosity. then, out of nowhere, a patch of unfamiliar fur caught your eye. a tail. before you could fathom who'd it been, the swishing appendage was gone. you were sure it had been another dog. sure of it! you slowly uprighted, sore muscles resurfacing and bones cracking.

SEA SALT MOANS
genre: romance , warning: sexual
you knew yourself. you were confident and had been aware of your attraction-your love-for other females. they were beautiful. they were elegant. they were raw. everything down to their seductive flutter of lashes to teasing tail sways had intrigued and captured your forlorn eyes ever since you were a year old pup experimenting and gossiping with fellow canines. the males whispered between your muzzles would be present with thickening lies as you concerned yourself with lack of enthusiasm. they didn't churn your stomach or compliment your mind. instead, it was always the females. females, females, females.

the connection was completed when you'd cope through your first year with none other than another dog, a friend, who hasn't any stud company around. she was desperate, you weren't. estrus was a simple smooth wave you didn't suffer through. yet, with the presentation of a high rump and lowered chest, you found yourself contentedly attending to her needs and enjoying it; as well as the repayment. more often than you should. it came easy afterwards: the confidence, the self discovery, and the comfortability of being yourself. it was the opposite of the female sitting beside you, voice a tremor of your name.

your nose sunk into beautiful, silk fur—breathing in a whiff of her natural scent. a pink tongue glided against an exposed neck before softly moving down. further and further. gentle sways of the other female's tail ticked the moist soil underneath, gorgeous eyes locking with your own. you caught the gleam of shame, excitement, and uncertainty in her pupil. they were met with fiery and challenge. thunder roared in the background, a flash lighting the cavern from lightening striking from the clouds above.

A CRASHING CONNECTION
genre: adventure
the floor beneath your paws continuously shifted, a creaking sound audible from wood rubbing amongst one another as the small boat continued to rock. your cranium turned, your chin angled over your shoulder as smoldering eyes bore at the couple behind you. their hands clasped tightly around the extended stick used to paddle, sloshing the projective water gleaming under the sun's astonishing rays. the same rays which made the tip of your coat burn with heat. it was then the couple noticed you panting and took out a bowl before filling it with drinkable water. greedily you drank before you'd return to keeping at the front as a look out.

above the horizon of endless water, your eyes caught a glimpse a decent distance away. extending your neck so your head could go higher, your vision sharpened with the narrow of your eyes as you realized the object ahead was land with mountains and palm trees. a beaming smile lifted as you barked to notify the two people behind you. both heads perked up and they peeked over- realizing the reason behind a rise in vocals.

after your owners had picked up the pace, in about an hour to two the boat was securely driven to land. the tail behind you wagged furiously as you and your owners leaped off, eyes glazed in amazement from the discovery.

"i didn't think this place was real! honey, we made it!" one of them exclaimed with arms up in the air in excitement. right on cue two differentiating barks were heard. a high pitched one and a lower pitched.
