Throughout the years, Areum has appeared with various tattoos, which she keeps adding, as well as piercings. This is a list, explanation and placement of all her body modifications.

TATTOOS

1. Dragon Tattoo: Areum's first tattoo, a dragon on her left shoulder. It's a matching tattoo she got with her brother's to match their father's. They all have it in different places. She got it in 2019.

2. Back Tattoo: This tattoo was one of the longest and maybe most painful tattoos she'd gotten. Paid extra to get it all done in one session. She'd spent a few hours sketching during their last tour and got it at the end of 2019.

3. BTS Tattoo: She got this one done around the same time as the other ones, in 2019, on her right shoulder. The reason behind it is self-explanatory. 

4. Cat Tattoo #1: The start of an obsession. A kitty playing the guitar on her left arm, because she loves cats and loves guitars. Rockstar Kitty. She got this one in 2020 when they were in the US.

5. "I am NOT" Tattoo: This tattoo is placed on the side of her left thigh. She was fed up. She also got this in 2020 when they were in the US.

6. Cross Tattoo: She got this one done in 2020 when they came back to Korea around the 'MOTS: 87' release. It is located in the middle of her back, in between the gap of tattoo number one.

7. Cat Tattoo #2: Obsession, I said. It's a cat yawning, got it in 2020 because she had a mental breakdown. This one is on her right mid-thigh.  

8. Eye/sun Tattoo: She first saw it on Pinterest and was like "Oh looks fire, I should get it in my inner elbow!" This was probably the first time Areum cried during a tattoo session. Right Inner elbow, 2020. 

9. Serendipity Tattoo: Left inner arm. 2021. She will not elaborate.

1. Made of Stardust: Star Girl Areum is obsessed with stars, it was fitting. She got this on her nape in 2021.

3. Hekate Tattoo: Got this one cause she's obsessed with Hekate. Left Bicep. 2021.

4. 'SC' tattoo: SC for Sarcasm which is her main personality trait. Right Bicep. 2021.

5. Star Tattoos: One on each wrist because she loves stars. 2021. She got this one when she was going through some rough times, she needed to keep her mind off...some harmful habits.

6. Kuromi Tattoo: Her favourite Sanrio Character. It is one of her many thigh tattoos. 

7. Cat Tattoo #3: One of her many arm tattoos. She's obsessed. Each time she has a crisis, a mental breakdown, or she's 'manic' she gets a cat tattoo. This one was in 2021 too, around the same time as Tattoo 5.

8. Lamb Tattoo: She thought it was weird and cute, she loved it and it is one of her many thigh tattoos. 2021.

9. Amygdala Tattoo: She got this in 2023 after Yoongi released his Album on her lower back.

1. 'LOST!' Tattoo: She got this tattoo in 2024 after the release of RM's album. She'd loved the M/V so much she had to get it tattooed. As soon as she got it, she sent a pic to RM, which he was touched by, and he put it on his IG story.  It is one of her many Arm Tattoos. 

2. Mono Tattoo: She got this tattooed in 2020 because this mixtape got her through a lot of bad shit. She got it on her clavicle. 

3. This goofy RPWP tattoo:  She saw this, laughed so hard for like 5 minutes and immediately got it tattooed on her lower leg in 2024.

4. Bayou Tattoo: She got this after a surprise release of her song "Bayou" in 2024 after a long Hiatus (👀). one of her many arm tattoos. 

5. Her multiple hand tattoos: She woke up one day in 2022 and thought her hands were too naked. Matching smiley tattoo with Jungkook, a moon cycle on both hands, an astrological sign on her left hand, Pisces, a J.M on her left ring finger, an 8/infinity sign (BTS matching tattoo), moon, sparkles, crosses, stars, flowers, an eye on her pinky. 

6. Pretty Tattoo: She got this on her stomach in 2022 because she liked the OG picture. She found it very pretty.

7. "TV girl mentioned??" Tattoo: She got the French Exit album cover because she loves the song 'Lovers Rock' and TV Girl so yeah. One of her many thigh tattoos. 2023.

8. Cat tattoo #4: :3. She got this in 2024 and posted about it on Tiktok with the Caption, "Me when my therapist what I did for the weekend and I did the one things we agreed I'd stop doing in our last session." She finally revealed her cat tattoo obsession. One of her many thigh tattoos.  

9. Angel Tattoo:   She got this one on the back of her thigh in 2023.

This was secretly her first tattoo ever, she got it in 2017 after Jonghyun passed on the side of her right wrist. 

PIERCINGS 

1. Nipple piercings: She got those in 2023 after every member went to the military. When going through that type of change, she needs to have a physical change too. Extra: When her Boyfriend was finally able to get his phone, he was greeted with a picture of her new piercings. 

2. Right ear piercings: Forward helix, helix, five lobe piercings, antihelix. 8 in total. The first lobe was in 1997. Other piercings, 2011 - 2017.

3. Face piercings: At the 2021 Muster Sowoozoo fan meeting, Areum appeared with multiple nose piercings, pretty real-looking ones but fans weren't sure since other members appeared with fake piercings. On live, Jungkook revealed he'd actually gotten his eyebrow pierced and that Areum's piercings were real too. She got a nostril piercing on each side and a septum piercing. She used to have a smiley but removed it at the end of 2021. 

4. Left Ear Piercings: Four helixes, three lobes and a conch piercing. The first lobe was in 1997. Other piercings, 2011 - 2017.

5. Lip piercing: She got a vertical labret piercing at the end of 2024, she was bored and wanted to try something new.
