Phoenix's POV
Qui-Gon had a blank look, any emotion that was once on his face was completely washed out after reading the message in the commlink. The curiosity I had for the matter multiplied by ten after his reaction and I couldn't hold my tongue.
โWhat is it? What does it say? โI frowned, stepping closer so I could scan the little object again.
Qui-Gon was left speechless, shaking his head slowly and in robotic motions, like trying to deny any hesitation in the air.
โN-No, this seems... quite inofensive. I don't actually think it means something. Umm... yeah, it actually looks like it could be garbage. Where did you find it again? โhe asked, finally looking me in the eyes. His gaze was widened, but he tried to smile so I would confuse the little wrinkles around his eyelids as a sign of the grin, not his concern. Needless to say, I was not convinced.
โIt was property of an old rebel leader. I took it from him after he sent a voice message with it. I didn't hear what he said, but it seemed like it was a distress signal. โI shrugged my shoulders.
โMmm... interesting. โHe looked back down to it and quickly returned to me. โ Thanks Phoenix, I will examine it a bit further, in case we find any important intel on it. โ He plastered a smile, a real one this time, however, desperation never left his features.
โSure, Master. Anything else I can help with? โI asked, praying that he would let me go to my chambers, to hide for the rest of the day.
โYeah, can you please locate Obi-Wan and tell him to come meet me? โHe sat on his chair again and brought the crystal cup back to his lips and took a little slurp.
โ Of course, Master. I will do that right now. โI bowed to him and Qui-Gon let me go with a hand gesture.
โ The Force shall free you. โHe tilted his head.
โThe Force shall free me. โAnd I exited the room, looking for my friend.
Once I stepped foot outside Qui-Gon's office, I felt like a thousand pounds were lifted off my chest for two big reasons: I've never liked that room, it was my grandfather's old office and the aura in there has always felt life-sucking to me, even when his presence was missing. And second, apparently and to my great luck, Qui-Gon doesn't suspect a thing about me and Anakin. He isn't the snitch I thought. And I planned to keep it that way, I just needed to get used to the idea of facing him. Because of that, I was careful enough to avoid the route I previously took, so I wouldn't meet Anakin. Just like I suspected, Obi-Wan was standing in the lobby, right where I left him. He was walking in circles, pulling nervously from his beard. Hell, so this commlink is no joke...
โ Hey, Obi. โI whispered-yelled. He quickly turned himself to me and walked closer.
โHow did it go? What did he say? โHe talked low, almost like he didn't want anyone to know that we were speaking.
โHe is looking for you. He wants you to go... โI grimaced at the secretive aspect of it all. Now I truly want to know.
โOh, ok. I'm on my way then. โObi-Wan rushed his pace, not before I intervened and cut him off.
โWhat is happening, Obi-Wan? This doesn't seem like anything to me. โI poked his chest with my finger and squinted my eyes, pressuring him to give some answers.
โLook Phoenix, I know this is all very weird, but it may all be for nothing. โHe smiled teethless, almost like he didn't want to give that much hope.
โBut-
โJust trust Qui-Gon, I know he will explain everything soon, okay? โ He grabbed me by my shoulders and gave me a little forehead kiss. Even though the gesture was incredibly intimate, I took it as a fraternal demonstration of appreciation and I silently thanked him for the reassurement. Then after, he made his way to Emperor Jinn. For my part, I wandered around for a couple of minutes, checking that Anakin wasn't near the area and I escaped to my room with the intention of meditating on my personal terrace and relaxing until my meeting later in the afternoon with my legion. As I walked to my room, I hurried my pace as I felt the familiar headache form...
โโโโโโโโโโโโโ
Qui-Gon's POV
โDo you actually believe it's possible? โObi-Wan and I were staring directly at the commlink on my desk, not moving, barely breathing. Both of us were scared as if something was going to pop out from the screen.
โI don't know, that's why I called you. โI turned around and walked around the room. โIs it possible that one of them escaped? โ I sighed, confused.
โThere's no way. All of the known Jedi were murdered on the Temple and the ones that were out on missions had at least a legion of clones with them. One of them surviving doesn't add up. โObi-Wan shook his head and grabbed the artifact, trying to inspect it further.
โI already tried that. It's some kind of technology that deletes the messages after some time. I'm surprised that one hasn't disappeared. โI rubbed my temples, seeking some peace in all of this mess.
โAnd how sure are we that this is a surviving Jedi? The rebels could have easily stolen their tacky little phrase as a political campaign. You know how the Jedi represented hope to all of them. โObi-Wan grimaced at the last part. โWe shouldn't get ourselves so worked up about it. We must be mindful.
Even when we had all of the odds with us, this doubt inside of my brain could not be shaken. Not only did the message follow the Jedi mantra, but it was written in an ancient code that no common mortal should know. There was no way it was just a coincidence.
โWhat about the secret language? Is that a political move too? โI hummed angrily, looking through the glass.
But Obi-Wan was right. If I let myself lose control over this, nothing good will come out of it. What I needed to do was to collect myself and start a rigorous investigation on the matter. And that started in the very place where it all began. Oh wow, I truly understand Phoenix, this view is magical.
โI think we need to dig deeper on this; the code was no coincidence and we need to get the upper hand while we have it. โMy body faced Obi-Wan and he nodded. โ So the first thing that we have to do is to check any discrepancies on the night of Order 66. Were you the one in charge of the Temple or was that Anakin? โ I asked, pulling out some records from my archive.
โIt was Anakin, I was in Mustafar with the Trade Federation. โHe sat on the edge of the desk and revised some papers as well. I guessed he was looking for the same thing I was.
โAnd are those dead? โMy witty question came out with the company of a sarcastic raised eyebrow, to which Obi-Wan laughed.
โYes, Qui-Gon, I highly doubt they can live without a head. โHe shook his head as he passed through the pages.
โDid you learn your lesson of sliding up the throat, not the waist? โI couldn't hold on the chuckle and I let it go, my joy rubbing on him.
โAt least I wasn't the one lying on the floor. โhe huffed. โHa-ha, very funny, Christmas Jedi. โHe smiled fakely at me, but I was way too confused by his comment.
โChristmas Jedi? What? โI scrunched my nose.
โYou know, hol-ey knight- โAnd he bursted into laughter and I coughed, unbelievably.
โWhat the hell? That was a low blow, my friend. โI was incredulous.
โI'm sorry-y โhe said between laughsโ the joke was right there.
โYou'll never know the pain of a lightsaber cutting through you and you are lucky for it. โI said, overly dramatic.
โI sure hope I don't, my friend. โHe sighed. โ Hey, to all of this, where's Maul? I knew that he was alive, but he kept in touch with Palpatine? โThe confusion in his face shining.
โYeah, I never knew much about it, Palpatine didn't share much. I think he wanted to offer Maul a place in the Empire but he declined, apparently the last thing he wanted was another bureaucratic organization in the galaxy and went off to do his things, I guess. โI shrugged my shoulders, being totally honest with Obi-Wan. As much as I loved Anakin and Y/n, Obi-Wan was the person I trusted the most in the world.
โCan you imagine Maul in here with us? โhe said with widened eyes.
โI don't think he wouldn't have accepted either if he knew you were going to be here, man.โI raised my eyebrows and he chuckled.
โThat 's true. โHe sucked his tongue, making an interesting sound. โ Here, found it! The deceased Jedi list. โAnd he passed it to me.
โMhm, so these were all of the bodies found on the Temple, as well as the troopers' reports on the ones killed on off-world missions? โI caressed my beard, reading the names over the list.
โCorrect, everything should be there. โObi-Wan pressed his right hip to the desk, crossing his arms on his chest.
โWe need to double check this data. And the only way to do this is to verify them with the security footage on the Jedi Temple.
โWhy the face? โHe asked with a frown.
โBecause I'll need you and Anakin to go and do that. โI dropped the file on the table and went back to my chair and put my feet up on the wooden furniture.
โWhat? But it will take days! โHe whined. Was Anakin right with the Obi-Whine nickname?
โIt will most certainly do. Nonetheless, I cannot trust this sensitive information to anyone. โI shrugged my shoulders as I took a sip of the cold tea, which I spit it out at the disgusting taste.
โWe can send Rex and some close troopers to do it! โHe negotiated, trying to get out of doing scrappy work.
โThat's a great idea! โ I smiled widely as I stood up. A beacon of hope shined through his face. โTake them with you. โI palmed his shoulder with fake empathy and his face fell in disappointment.ย โNice try, Negotiator.
โ I'll fucking kill Anakin. โHe rolled his eyes. โHe should be doing this alone. It was his mistake! โHe huffed. I secretly wanted to kill Anakin too, because if this was the result of a screw-up on his behalf and there's a Jedi on the loose plotting with the rebels against us... We would have a problem. A big one.
But in the meantime, unless I have actual proof that I should be worried about it, I'll restrain myself to snarky comments and hope I don't have to feed him to a rancor. Force, I really hope I don't have to cut his limbs apart, he's like my kid...
โHey! None of that! โI scolded him gently. โWe are a team! If one of us screws up, all of us answer to it! โI made an angry gesture only to soften it up at the last part. โ We are supposed to have each other's back, no matter what. Do we have an agreement? โI asked Obi-Wan.
โYes. โHe rolled his eyes again.
โOkay? โ My eyes glowed yellow.
โOkay, Qui-Gon. โHe put his hands up, as he was surrendering.
โGood. โI nodded happily as I took out a cigar and lit it up.
โ Aren't you gonna include Phoenix in this mission? โHe wondered after I handed him another white stick and lit it up with my lighter.
โNo... I have other plans for her. โI blew the smoke, whispering almost to myself. โShe will stay here with me, I have special training for her.
If this threat is as big as my anxiety is telling me it is, then I'll need her in the best shape possible, and not only physically. Also I wanted to keep on the lines on this job and from this mess, unless it's confirmed that the Jedi survived. I just knew her little disagreement with Anakin was only going to grow worse if she found out and the last thing I needed was problems of my own. And who in the hell would think that keeping those two locked up in an old building would be beneficial at all?
โOkay, but are you gonna talk to her about... all of this? She's pretty concerned. โHe let me know.
โOh, yeah, yeah, for sure. Everything at its time, my friend. โI puffed once more, the nicotine alleviating my pain. โBut first we need to talk to Anakin.
โYeah, I was just thinking about that but I couldn't call him in. He was in a meeting with the 501st. โObi-Wan let the smoke out his nose as he spoke.
โ He's gonna hate us for talking without him again. โWe both laughed.
โYeah, we need to have a boys night-out, it has been many moons since we've gone out together.โThe proposal ringed something in my head, in the very space where happiness is storaged.
โYes! โI put my hands up in celebration. โ But after we fix this. โI punctuated firmly, my index finger touching my desk as an authoritative gesture. โAnd to all this, I never asked you about your incessant thoughts about Satine, how's that evolved?
Obi-Wan looked at the floor, blowing out his last puff and started talking. โWell... I've been meditating like you said...

Phoenix's POV
My eyes kept opening and closing quickly, trying to adapt my vision to the toned down light of the sunset. My brain was barely waking up after one of the longest naps of my life. I wasn't usually a napper, but I had to admit that today's mission really took a toll on me. And if you're wondering, yes, I did shower before getting to bed. I happened to love the feeling of my freshly scrubbed feet on the bed's clothing. It felt amazingly cold and made me sleep like a baby.
However, my rest was interrupted by the alarm I set before, the one reminding me that I needed to go and have a meeting with my legion and discuss upcoming plans and analyze the team's recent results. Unfortunately, Taaray and Kytra would only join via hologram, due to their current location on Zeltron.
I put on my suit (For me it's #1, btw) and left the room, still stretching my muscles. Just like the first time I arrived here, the painful headache that originated from Anakin trying to get through my shields started again inside of my brain. But that could only occur when he was close enough. Oh no.
I power walked to the meeting room #3, the place where I told my troopers to assemble, and I checked every aisle side to side as I moved through, making sure I was not about to have an unpleasant encounter with Anakin. My legs did their best to take me as quickly as they could, yet their efforts felt short as the scandalous pain persisted. My head turned every few seconds making sure that he wasn't following me. Nothing.
I had this awful feeling sitting in my stomach, like a ball of nerves just getting fiercer by the second. My shortness of breath was not a consequence of my physical performance, but of my anxious state. I secured my shields once more, not giving up on keeping him at bay. Damn room, is it on the other side of the galaxy?
My anxiety just exponentially grew when I saw a bunch of 501st troopers exiting the meeting room #1. If they were here... Oh. I was walking directly into the lion's cave. I couldn't turn around; I had work to do. But to get to room #3, I needed to get through #1. When an avalanche of masked troopers swam out of the area, I took that as my opportunity to walk through them and blend in. Any confidence I had on my strategy was squashed on the blink of an eye when I felt a pull from my arm. A muffled squeel left my mouth, but it was instantly covered by a leather glove. Funnily enough, none of the clones seem to realize my kidnap.
The door was closed behind me, and the not-so-mysterious figure pressed me against it. A yellow gaze met mine and he kept his hand on my face.
โWill you stop running away from me? โHe asked with a raised eyebrow. I got mad at his cocky attitude and pushed him in his chest, getting him as far away as possible. He only moved a couple of inches and crossed his arms with a scrutinizing glare. I was sure my face was reddened in anger and my nostrils expelling hate with every breath.
โWhat the hell is wrong with you? โI crossed my arms as well, matching his posture. โYou need to stop trying to get through my shields! โI poked his chest. โ And you can't surprise me like that!
โBut was it really a surprise? I think you were expecting my presence, sweetheart. โHe lowered his face to me, so the height wouldn't be so meaningful. Anakin put his chin up lightly, looking at my lips momentarily.
โI don't think about you at all, Skywalker. โI sighed with an eye roll, ready to turn around and leave, but he stopped it by pushing the door closed again, just above my head. I twirled ready to fight him.
โThen why have you been hiding from me all day, baby? Don't tell me it was because of this morning... โHis flirty laugh and sexy smirk weakened my knees and I cursed myself for being so sensitive to him. I pinched myself mentally, waking me up from my horny trance. Now I was the one holding my hand against him in order to shut him up.
โShut the fuck up. โI whispered-yelled. He laughed inside of my hand trap. โI'm serious! That. never. happened. โI got closer so he would hear me better. โ I don't know what you're talking about, neither do I want you to remind me. โI shook my head firmly. โIf you ever dare to mention this to anyone else, not only will I deny it all and embarrass you, I will cut your balls in your sleep. โI squinted my eyes at the end, but jumped after I felt his wet tongue licking the inside of my hand.
Sure you don't need a reminder?
I pushed him by the face and cleaned my hand on my suit.
โUgh! How disgusting! Don't make another joke! โI threatened, fully knowing him.
โI simply don't know why you are making such a big deal out of it, Phoenix. โHe rolled his eyes. โIt almost seemed like you didn't enjoy it-
โI didn't-
โAh pa, pa, pa.โHe continued talking, putting his head above my shoulder and leaning in.. โI know you did, sweetheart, I have your screaming as proof. โHe whispered in my ear. I shivered at his closeness and he chuckled. โOh yes, princess, I don't think I'll ever forget the delicious feeling of you melting under me... or your sweet taste, mmm...โAnd he licked my earlobe. โDo you think that now that I know how amazing it is to be inside you, I will let you go so easily? โHe hummed sensually. The way words would so easily roll out of his lips, like honey, had me melting like a puddle.
โA-Anakin, no. No. Seriously. โI didn't push him away this time, but I turned my head to my right to create some distance. He got the message and backed away, but his arm never moved from his position. โWe can't.
โWhy not? โHe asked with furrowed brows.
โQui-Gon says attachments are forbidden. โI commented like it was the most obvious thing in the world. I crossed my arms once again, this time my body weight resting on my right hip. Anakin laughed and pulled back his body, fully this time. He clapped his hands together and I wished that a black hole would open under me and swallow me whole. The embarrassment reached my cheeks, painting them red. Why is it so funny?
โWho said anything about attachments? I'm just proposing sex, princess. You know, two friends helping each other out. โHe shrugged his shoulders.
โYou're not my friend. โI squinted my eyes.
โThen two acquaintances helping each other out. Whatever you want to label it as, baby, the bottom line is me having another opportunity to see you squirming because of my cock. Oh sweetheart, I cannot explain to you how beautiful you looked, all surrendered to me. โAnakin smirked and winked.
I gasped, shocked at his words. โAgh! You're not- I don't- Ugh! โI rolled my eyes in frustration. Saying no was not an easy task when he is saying all of the right things to turn me on. Focus, Y/n. I believe in you. I changed my face from an angry one to a mocking one. โ. Not only we can't, I don't want to. I'm not risking it for you, Ani. โI huffed.
โYou're not risking it for, and I quote, the best sex of your life? โHe raised his eyebrows curiously.
โEverything feels more exagerated than it actually is during sex. Especially dicks. โI whispered, teasing him.
He stared at me for a couple of seconds that felt like hours and just hummed lowly, while I was staring at him back, defending my strong posture. Slowly his features softened from a frown and pouted lips to a little smile and relaxed eyes.
โOkay. โHe finally spoke.
โ...Okay? โI asked.
โOkay, I will not bother you anymore with the topic. โHe put his hands up, like giving up. โThis morning never happened and I will never speak a word to anyone. โHe nodded calmly. โTruce? โand he placed his open palm in the middle of us.
I hesitantly took it and slightly shook it, unsure of what the catch may be. That mystery was solved when he pulled me in and grabbed my arm with both hands, our bodies close but facing different directions.
โBut don't you come begging back to me when you are all needy and desperate. โHis dangerous smirk made my body shake and for the tiniest moment, left me speechless.
โDon't worry, I won't. โI tilted my head arrogantly.
โFine. Good afternoon, m'lady. โHe smiled politely and turned around to pick his stuff up. That gave me a small window to catch my breath. When he twirled back, I gave my best effort to stand proudly. โIf you excuse me, I must go to Qui-Gon's office now. โHe walked past me and insecurity emerged in me from his comment.
โHe called you in? โI asked, worried that I was the one being left out in this whole commlink issue.
โHe didn't call you? โHe asked back, with his chin up. Arrogant motherfucker. I shook my head disconcerted. โOh, well, I guess it's a team meeting then. โHe smiled with fake kindness and left the door chuckling at my sudden enraged features.
Force, do I hate him.

A/N: This episode (and probably the next one) was more plot related, so we didn't get to see much Phoenix/Anakin interaction, but don't you worry, the spicy stuff is coming back hard on the next episodes!!! I'm so excited for it!!
I saw that some of you already have ideas on the remaining Jedi. I would love to hear your theories about it! What will be their purpose in the story? Why them? I love to read you! :) Also, what do you think of Obi-Wan and Phoenix's friendship?
The extra chapter will be uploaded over the weekend and the interview one probably next week! Keep your questions coming! They are so interesting :)
Love you, until Friday!
