Ren stood next to Peyton like she did every Friday night, standing on the sidelines cheering for Tree Hill Ravens. She had gotten dolled up and dressed with Peyton and Brooke for almost three years now, it was sort of their thing, that unspoken bond that kept their friendship sealed for all these years, other than the fact that they've been best friends since elementary school.

Tonight was just like any other Friday night in basketball season, except for the fact that Brooke Davis had been sick for the first time since the season started but the games all started the same; Dan pressuring Nathan, Coach telling Dan to go away and then Nathan pushing himself to win his fathers approval. That's pretty much how it ends too, just different contexts but nonetheless, Ren wouldn't trade being a Raven for anything.

Ren scoffed at Dan when she noticed his unique parenting style, "What do you think? Nathan actually stepping up to dirty Dan or keep taking the blows"

Peyton rolled her eyes at her friends comment, "You kidding? Nathan will never escape his ass of a father"

"Kind of sucks though, maybe he wouldn't turned out to be a great guy" Ren shrugged, grabbing her Pom poms from the floor and standing up, "Looks like the games about to begin"

The game always started out quick, honestly it's always fast paced and when you don't know the game well, it kind of gets confusing but you always know that if you're looking for the ball, keep your eyes on Nathan Scott.

"Basket by Nathan Scott!" The announcer called out, making the cheerleaders scream and cheer.

"Go Ravens!" Peyton and Ren yell out.

"He really looks sharp out there tonight and now a steal by the Ravens. They'll go on the offensive, Coach Whitey Durham urges them on. Tim Smith... he's got Scott, finds Nathan Scott and he hammers it home! He's already got 14 of the Ravens 17 points, tonight!"

"Let's go Scott!" Ren yelled out, stepping forward and shaking her Pom poms.

"Turn around jumper by Nathan Scott and I tell you, we haven't seen talent like this since his father, Dan, played for whitey. Here's Scott again, another long jump shot. It's all Nathan Scott"

"Looks like you'll be celebrating with Scott tonight" Ren smirked at Peyton and then carried on cheering for the winning team.

She furrowed her eyes brows when she watched Coach bring in the team for a talk but raised them shockingly when she watched the coach bench Nathan and replace him with Tim.

"What is going on?" Peyton whispered to Ren.

"He'll be back in the came, after all there's nothing Coach Durham loves more that seeing his team win and he'll need Nate to do that" Ren told her, as much as she hated Dan Scott and his dickhead of a son, she couldn't deny that Nathan carried the team on his back.

And soon enough, Whitey was putting Nathan back into the game which if he couldn't seen the smug look on Nathan's face then he'd pull him back just as fast.

"Don't bother showering tonight" Peyton leaned over to her boyfriend, making him smile before throwing the ball in.

"Good job, P. Sawyer. Making the mans ego even bigger, didn't think that was possible" Ren joked, Peyton looked at her before elbowing her in the arm, "Ow" Ren gave her a small glare resulting in Peyton sticking her tongue out at her.

Basketball games usually made the time go by fast and Ren always said that time goes fast when you're having the most fun.

"Under 20 seconds to go and it's all tied up. Fasten you're seat belts, folks. We're going down the to wire. Davies with... stolen by Nathan Scott!"

The crowed when absolutely wild with the help of a couple cheerleaders, "Let's go Nathan!"

"The ravens have it and they're gonna hold onto the ball and shoot for the win!"

"Head it up!" Coach yelled at Nathan.

"10 seconds remaining on the clock. Now, five!"

Everything went into slow motion when Nate let go of that ball, silence came but was replaced by cheering when he made it into the hoop.

Ren cheered and then looked at her best friend with a smile, "Never gets old"

After the game was usually when everyone went on and celebrated, Ren however didn't prefer to celebrate how Nate like too so she always passed up his offer for her to come with him.

"What are you doing after this Ren?" Peyton walked up to her, the signature Cheer bag was hanging from her shoulder.

"I'm headed home, I've got some classes to study for and I've got to get some extra ballet practice in tonight" Ren shift her cheer bag from one shoulder to the other, it was always way to heavy for her small frame.

"Cool, I'll call you tonight?" Peyton smiled, walking backwards to head to her car.

"Sounds good, I'll give Brooke a call and see how's she doing. I'll keep you updated" Ren watched Peyton shoot her a thumbs up before walking away completely.

She walked toward the parking lot where her Dad 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL was, he had a thing for collecting old cars and every once in awhile she drove those instead of her 2005 Jeep Wrangler. Opening the car door, she stepped back a little for it to fully open, getting in and turning the car on, she headed home.

Ren opened the door to her house quietly, she wasn't sure who was asleep and she didn't want to wake anyone.

"Ravens won?" Violeta asked from the kitchen, she had heard her older sister come in and she just country help but make herself seem.

"Of course they did" Ren told her with a cheesy smile, it was a little known fact that the Ravens always won.

"Coach Durham benched Nathan again?" Valencia asked, walking through the hallways and into the kitchen.

"That Scott big is always causing trouble, just like his sorry excuse for a father" Mitchell Harlow, better known at Mitch or the Dad Verena, Violeta, Valencia and Verity.

The three girls rolled their eyes at their fathers antics, they of course was used to them considering Dan Scott and Mitch Harlow always had it out for each other.

"Talking about Dan Scott again honey?" Guinevere Harlow, legendary Lawyer and an even more legendary mother, "You guys are almost obsessed with each other"

"Don't joke about that, Gwen. I've never like that man since high school and I'm not gonna start now" Mitch pointed his finger teasingly at his wife, only he was being quite serious.

"Dad talking about how big of a dick Dan Scott is?" Verity asked, walking down the long steps before turning into the kitchen.

"Yep" The four Harlow girls answered. Everyone laughed at their fathers face as it turned into a pout, Gwen pulled her husband into a hug and brought the four girls along with her.

"Okay, I've got to practice my Grande JetΓ©" Ren said, pulling away from her family's hug.

"You already know how to do a Grande JetΓ©" Violet pointed out.

"She's just trying to get out of family bonding" Val told her, shaking her had as of her sister was a horrible person.

"Well practice makes perfect, right Rena?" Vee smiled at her older sister, craziest thing is how protective a younger sibling can be, even when it's toward there older sibling.

"Exactly, Vee. Plus I have a couple of quizzes in History and English so I really need to start getting ready for the night" Ren explained further.

"Schooling first, okay Verena? You know the rules" Gwen slightly scolded her oldest daughter.

"No extra curricular activity unless we have good grades and put school first" The four Harlow siblings groaned at the same time.

"Great, honey. They're like out minors now" Mitch joked, "Do laundry for a week" He looked at Val and waved his hand in front of her face as if too maker her fall under his spell.

"I will do laundry for a week" The twin said, following his hand with her eyes, "I already do my own laundry, you fool" She told him, shoving her Dads hand away from her face.

"Weirdos" Ren whispered under her breath and backed away from her embarrassing family to head upstairs to her room.

β’β˜†β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β˜†β’

School of course was just like every other day, nothing special except for the fact that half of the basketball team had managed to get kicked off for stealing a school bus.

Ren had been home from school for a couple of hours and it was one of those days that her Mother bakes cookies and gave half of them too the local cafe owner Karen Roe, who was also Gwens go to caterer for major events and lifelong friend.

"Rena, sweetie. Do you mind giving some cookies to Karen, I've made to much and forgotten that your father, Val and you won't eat them" Gwen called out to Ren as she passed by, she was heading downstairs to practice a ballet routine but bury calls.

"You always make too much and then happen to give them to Ms. Roe, you guys talk almost every night, why bake her cookies" Ren complained, setting her iPod down on the counter along with her water bottle.

"You'll be fine, maybe a nice walk will be nice" Gwen shrugged her shoulders, unfazed by her daughter, "You can take your sisters with you if you want"

"Violet is in the art studio working on a painting, Val is in the backyard kicking a soccer ball and Vee is probably hacking the government" Ren listed, knowing that they were busy and most likely didn't want to go.

"Whatever, here" Gwen said, "Take these before it gets too late" Handing her the plate of wrapped up cookies.

Taking the plate, Ren headed to the front door. Sliding on a pair of shoes and a light coat she headed to Karen's Cafe.

The walk was short but she'd been taking it almost twice a week since the cafe opened so she might just be used to it. Walking up the short flight of stairs, she noticed Lucas, Haley and Karen sitting at the table eating dinner. Grabbing the handle she yanked the door open with a smile.

"Ms. Roe, my Mom seemed to have made too much cookies again and well you know how that goes" Ren held the plate of cookies up to show her the giant stack of cookies.

"Verena, Hi! We were just eating some chili if you want to join us" Karen sat up from her seat and greeted the girl with a hug.

"Oh, no thank you, Ms. Roe. I already had my dinner and well Ballet diet are no joke" Ren laughed slightly in pity, if only she didn't love Ballet.

"Right, right and please Verena call me Karen" The older lady smiled down at the teen, "I've known you since you were a baby"

Rena gave her a warm smile before turning her attention on something else, "Lucas, still bumping it at the river court?"

"You know me so well, Rena" Lucas joked, shaking his head at her as she gave his back a small pat.

"And Haley, I wanted to talk to you about that English essay-" Ren looked at Haley with wide eyes.

"It was so vague! Write an essay and convince me, like our English teacher is so deep" Haley laughed, making Ren join her.

The laughter died down and Ren looked at the food that was now getting cold, "I'm so sorry, I've probably made you chili cold. I should probably head home"

"Don't be a stranger" Karen smiled.

"My Moms probably planning on inviting you guys over for dinner soon so I guess you know how that goes" Ren turned back, "I'll make sure she turns it down a notch" She was finally about to walk away bye remembered something, "Oh and don't forget to pass the message alone to Keith, for a small town, I can never catch that guy"

She bid them all a goodbye and headed out of the cafe, Karen was grateful for the heads up and agreed to let Keith know, Lucas and Haley also were thankful for the heads up. It wasn't like Gwen was a bad cook or anything, she just never was great at portion sizes. Always made way too much food and then giving some of the leftovers to Haley, Karen and Keith and then the remaining to the Homeless shelter which maybe wasn't a bad thing.

β’β˜†β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β˜†β’

Ren sat on Peytons bed reading the latest issue of Pointe magazine, she envied those girls who had made their dream possible while she was stuck in Tree Hill, North Carolina.

"Do you ever feel like this town is sucking you dry? Like we were born to stay here and then just die here" Ren looked up at Peyton, who was currently drawing in her sketchbook.

"I don't know, sometimes. I look at all the people who stayed and I wonder if they had dreams to get out but couldn't and then I wonder if I'll be the same way, having something hold me back from what I want" The blonde girl briefly looked up at her friend, noticing that she was staring at the wall lost in thought.

"I guess I just don't understand how my parents came back here, after they had left for years and then deciding that life was better in Tree Hill" Ren sighed, she was longing for something that was so far away but she couldn't wait for it to become closer, "I want to be in this magazine, I want to actually be on a stage where thousands of people are watching me and little girls feel empowered"

"You'll get there, Rena. You've worked your ass off and nobody deserves it more than you" Peyton reassured her, knowing that if anyone could make something of themselves, it was Verena Harlow.

"You'll get there too, you know" Ren nodded, "With your art, it's amazing and it's scary at times but people could really connect with what you have to say and it's important, your art is important"

Peyton let out a chuckle, "It doesn't matter, it never did"

"Of course it does, if always has. It's you and how you feel and that will always matter"

"I'm really glad that you didn't end up with the typical Tree Hill parents cause you're the best person I know" Peyton have Ren a warm smile, it wasn't one she showed very often but they both knew that they were important to each other.

"Same, couldn't imagine a Dad like Dirty Dan" Ren joked, laughing at the single thought.

"What do you think Brooke will think once she finds out that Coach asked Lucas to be on the basketball team?" Peyton chuckled at the thought of their other best friend acting out so Lucas will notice her.

"She's probably at home plotting the ways to get him into her bed" Ren scoffed, "Luke isn't like the typical boys she been out with though so, I'm intrigued to see how it all turns out"

"I keep forgetting that your Mom and his Mom are like best friends and your Dad practically beat Dan to a pulp when he left Karen" They both Lernout another laugh, "Your Dads pretty cool, now that I think about it"

"My Dads scary as all get out, if that what you mean" Ren corrected her.

"Yeah but he's totally there for you guys one hundred percent and it's not like you don't have some cool stories about your Dad that you could share to you kids some day and it's not like he's ever been scary to you guys" Peyton pondered at the thought, would she be able to tell her kids stories about her Dad?

"I guess your right and it's pretty cool cause nobody ever messes with us Harlow kids" Ren smiled as she thought about her Dad, a man coming from the life of street fights and barley graduating High school to raising her three perfect and amazing little sisters and she didn't turn out so bad either.

β’β˜†β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β˜†β’

Ren got to the river court just around the same time Peyton did, normally she would've stood next to her but when it comes to choosing a Scott brother, Lucas was always the first pick.

"I'm gonna go sit next to Haley" Ren gave Peyton a nod, telling her to be careful without the words.

"I can't believe you have out with them" Peyton laughed. Ren gave her a slight glare.

"Sorry P. Sawyer but once you started dating Nathan Scott, your opinion on who I can hang out with went out the window" The brunette let out a chuckle, "Call me when you get home or when you finally break up with Nate, which ever comes first"

She made her way over to Haley and the rest of the River Court misfits, giving them each a smile, "Hey Mouth, how are you doin buddy?"

"Verena Harlow, stepping foot on the river court. What a sight to see" He joked into his microphone.

"Shut up" Ren laughed, "Hey Jimmy, still putting up with Mouth, I see" He didn't reply to her, just giving a small smile.

"Let the games begin"

"Okay, folks, here we go. 15 by ones. Make it, take it. Win by one and you can feel the intensity in the air" Mouth announced.

Nathan and Lucas stood there in the middle of the court staying at each other, probably trying to sike each other out. It started when Lucas faked the step and shot the ball right into the hoop.

"Woo, let's go Luke!"

"A 25-footer, rips the silk like Jimmy Edwards in a size three dress"

Nathan gave the ball back to Lucas, who throw the ball one again, making it into the net. The brunette grabbed the ball and gave it back to Lucas again but this time once Lucas began to head to the basket, Nathan grabbed the ball and swerved over to the next, jumping from the ground and dunking the ball into the net.

It wasn't long until Nathan got a little more physical with his elbow jabbing into Lucas face, leaving his mouth bloody.

"Nathan, what the hell are you doing!" Ren yelled out, making heresy to the middle of the court but was stopped by Haley. Nathan looked at her with a smirk, shrugging his shoulders. "I'll kick your ass Nathan"

Lucas walked back over to Nathan, telling him that the basket counts and then handed him the ball.

"Oh, the basket counts and it's 14-12 game point for Nathan, he could win it all right here. Nathan for the win"

As Nathan ran up the the basket and tried to shoot it from the side, Lucas followed up behind him and stopped it mid air, hitting it on the backboard.

"Holy crap, did you see that?" Mouth yelled, "Somedays men will write stories about that block"

Lucas's ball now and he knew exactly what to do with it, throwing it toward the net and making it.

"Down by one" Ren said expectingly holding her breathe, because she was too scared to even make a noise.

"Another dagger and it's all tied up. This is it folks, no going back now. The next basket wins"

"Luke for the win!"

The crowed cheered while Nathan pouted, it didn't take long for Ren and Haley to throw themselves into Lucas's arms.

"Good game, Luke. Can't wait to brag about my friend tomorrow at school" Ren looked at the taller man and smiled, "Nates gonna be sooo pissed"

She watched as Lucas backed away from the crowd and to none other then Peyton Sawyer, Ren couldn't help but smile because it made sense, their personalities lined up and their interests did also.

"I'm headed home, I'll see you tomorrow at school" Ren looked at Haley, giving her a hug before backing away, "And I'll see you at practice, basketball boy"

"Goodnight, Rena" Haley called out after her. She turned back and gave her friends a smile before getting into her Jeep and backing out of the river court.
