EPILOGUE

It had been a few months since Kat had spoken to Ace. After the day they found the kid's body, she couldn't stand the sight of him. But she couldn't deny her heart that she did miss him. Missed his touch. Missed his kiss. Missed his smirk. Missed his voice. Missed everything about him. But her head wouldn't allow her to fall for him again, but it was all her fragile heart wanted to do.

Sammy had somehow persuaded her friend to go shopping with her. She was wearing a red blouse tucked into a pair of rolled up black jeans that fitted her figure nicely and a pair of white sneakers. She let my brown curls flow freely down her shoulders and back. Sammy was wearing the white over the shoulder top that she borrowed from Kat tucked into pink high waisted shorts with pink flats.

The sun beamed down on the two girls as they strolled down the burning streets of Castle Rock. Kat placed her red rockabilly cat eye sunglasses over her squinting eyes and Sammy placed her pink flyaway sunglasses over her own eyes. Kat laughed as she realises that they both do the action simultaneously. Sam giggles and throws her arm over her shoulder.

"Kat?" The girls heard a voice from behind them.

She turns around and is met with sorrowful blue eyes and dishevelled blonde hair. "Ace," Kat stated with her chin held up. Her tone signified that seeing him didn't affect her, but it did. She just wanted to run into his arms and kiss him. To hold him. To be back with him.

"Kat, please forgive me, I was angry, please take me back, I'm a mess!" Ace pleaded as he approached the girls. He went to reach for Kat's hand but stopped. "Please, I need you, sugar."

"Ace.." Kat whispered with a sigh. "I forgive you, but on one condition."

"Anything!"

"I want you to leave those four boys alone, especially Gordie and Chris. And I want you to go apologise to them."

"I will-" Kat cut Ace off with a held up finger.

"Now, please." The brunette girls smiled innocently as Eyeball snickered.

"I don't know what you're laughing about, you'll be doing the same," Samantha smirked to her boyfriend whose mouth is hanging open is annoyance.

——

Samantha, Eye, Ace and Kat walked into an open field where a single tree with a treehouse placed in it was situated.

"Excuse me, boys, do you mind coming down here for a second?" Kat politely shouted up to the wooden house as the other three stayed back a little.

"Who is it?" they heard a voice shout back to them.

"It's Kat. You know, I saved Chris and Gordie from Ace a few months ago from a cigarette burn." Kat explained as she sent Ace a squinted look towards the end. "You're both gonna apologise for that as well," she added quietly, her gaze fixed on the two men whose hands were stuffed into the jean pockets. They nodded without saying a word.

The hatch to the treehouse opened and they saw Chris peering down at Kat with a confused look. "What's up?"

"I've got someone who wants to say something to you lot, so you could y'all come down and make this a little easier, please?"

The younger Chambers boy nodded his head and gestures for his three friends to follow him down the ladder of the tree.

When all the boys were settled on the ground, they noticed Ace and Eyeball in the background. Teddy, the glasses-wearing boy, began to scramble towards the ladder in fear. "No! No! They're here to apologise!" Kat quickly explained to Teddy.

"Why should we trust a w-"

"Whore like you. Yeah, yeah, heard it before, get a little more imaginative. And you can trust me because it was my idea for them to say sorry,"

She turned towards the two men to see them with their heads still down and their hands remained tucked into their pockets. Sammy rolled her eyes and pushes them forward. Kat gave Ace and Eye a knowing look.

"Look, boys, we're sorry, we shouldn't have done what we did. We've been dicks to you lot. So, can we start over? A fresh start?" Ace apologised first.

"Yeah, what Ace said," Eye added with a confident nod, the two girls rolled our eyes with a smile at Eyeball's lame attempt of a apology but it was a step forward.

The four younger boys huddled together and whispered among each other for a few moments, before they separated.

Chris walked up to his brother and his friend. Chris extended his hand out for Eyeball or Ace to shake. Eyeball grabbed his hand with a grin and pulled him into an big embrace. Ace shifted uncomfortably as he glanced over his shoulder to Kat, who only gestured for him to hug them with a genuine smile. Ace sighed and walked towards the two brothers and wrapped his arms around the two. Kat grinned as she diverted my gaze to the three over boys. She nods them over to the three hugging boys to indicate that they should come them. Vern shrugged and walked up to the three boys with open arms, with Gordie following.

Teddy was the only one of his friends standing by the treehouse with his arms crossed as he scoffed at the scene in front of him. Kat strolled up to him with Sammy beside her. "Why don't you join them? This a new start." the girl question.

"Because this is soppy. Some prissy shit."

"Look, those two men over there deflated their egos and pride for this, the least you could do is make it worth it, alright?" Samantha persuaded with a raised eyebrows.

"Fine," Teddy exaggerated with a huff as he walked up to huddle of boys.

"We did something good, Sammy," Kat threw an arm over her best friend's shoulder.

"We sure did." She circled her arm around Kat's waist and leaned her curly head onto her friend's with a grin stuck to her face.

"Oi! You two get over here, this was your idea after all!" Ace laughs towards the two girls.

Sammy and Kat strode over the boys and hugged onto all of them. Kat squeezed between Ace and Gordie and threw an arm over the younger of the two's shoulder and laced a hand into the other's back pocket.

The hug breaks and the boys and Sammy commence a game of tag. Kat threw her arms around Ace's neck and pressed her hips to his. Ace snaked his muscular arms around her waist, pulling me closer.

Ace smirked and pressed his lips to her forehead. "I've missed this," He whispered.

"As did I, my dear. As. Did. I," Kat said between kisses around his face, finishing on his lips with a long smooch.

"I love you, rich kid," Ace mumbled against Kat's pink lips.

"I love you too, punk."
