PROPHECY

INTRODUCTION

DEVORA BANE ALWAYS TRUSTED HER INSTINCTS. It was as if she knew what was to come long before it occurred. When Oliver Wood was rendered unconscious during a quidditch practice, it was Devora who had preemptively warned him to skip. When Percy Weasley worried incessantly over whether he'd be chosen as a prefect, it was Devora who assured him she just knew he had nothing to worry about. When her fourth year kicked off with multiple students turning up petrified, it was Devora who kissed her nan goodbye at Platform 9 3/4 and confessed she knew that something was off about the upcoming year. Then, there were too many more instances to count.

While she always just chalked it up to a developed intuition, Devora Bane's skill was out of the ordinary, even for a young witch. Through her first few years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizadry, Devora came to realize that she possessed an often argued-about and seldom found talent. She was a true seer.

She did her best to keep this skill hidden, knowing the possible repercussions that could occur if she were found out. She'd struggle with the taunts of those who deemed her a liar and the beggings of those desperate to know their future. Plus, as volatile as Hogwarts had become, she knew she wouldn't be safe from dark forces. So, she hid her visions.

It was easy to ignore tellings of the future when they weren't her future, or the future of those she cared about. But, choosing to ignore her gift was much more difficult when it revealed the impending death of the boy she had loved since she was 13.

She'd be willing to take on any danger, if it meant saving him.
