"it's on you!"

"GUYS, THAT PIPE SERVICES A quarter of the toilets above us, that's gonna be messy."

Lynn glanced over to Hen, who was standing right beside the brunette, as they watched Chimney, Bobby, and Buck all start tearing down the yellow wall, along with the white tiles. They had previously removed the toilet, so it wouldn't be in the way.

"Oh, shoot," Hen continued, and Lynn narrowed her eyes a bit in confusion. "Which means, even with the water off, if somebody flushes a toilet above us, it could drown the baby."

Lynn's pink lips parted a bit into a gasp, and then both Hen and her made eye contact. Hen signaled towards the door, and almost immediately, both paramedics dropped their bags as they darted out of the bathroom, and then into the hallway.

Within seconds, they were already on the fifth floor's stairway. They were hollering and yelling about how no one can flush their toilets, repeating the same thing over and over again so the residents of the apartment knew damn well not to use their bathrooms.

"Hey, Hen. How's your day going?"

Lynn gazed up from being completely concentrated on the small stairs, making sure she didn't trip and fall and embarrass herself in front of her new coworker.

Her eyes fell on an older African American woman, who was dressed nicely in a similar uniform to Lynn's. However, she could easily spot the police badge on the woman's chest. She looked fierce, and strong, and Lynn sure as hell hoped she wouldn't end up on her wrong side.

"Athena, peachy," Hen replied sarcastically, and then she pointed towards Lynn, who had stopped on the stairway to make eye contact with the police officer. "This is Evelynn, our new recruit. Lynn, this is Sergeant Athena, she's usually at some of our scenes."

"Hi, ma'am," Lynn smiled politely, and she was mentally scolding herself for saying ma'am. It seemed like no one liked being called ma'am or sir unless it was the academy, apparently.

"Call me Athena," the woman replied swiftly, and Lynn almost wanted to let a breath of relief flush from her system. "Ma'am makes me sound old."

Lynn let out a laugh, a bit more relaxed since the woman, Athena, seemed to be more lighthearted than her previous stern expression. Then, seemingly at the same time, Lynn and Hen realized they should probably be heading back down to the apartment. Hopefully, the guys had already taken out the frail baby from the pipeline.

By the time Hen and Lynn made it back to the destroyed bathroom, they both gasped at the sight. There, laying on a makeshift wooden table, was a small piece of a black pipe. But it was what was inside that made them wide eyed, the fact that there was actually a baby stuck inside of it.

"Wow," Lynn muttered, hearing almost the same thing fall from Hen's mouth beside her.

The boys messing with the lube they had just poured into both sides of the pipe kept on mumbling certain things towards another. But then, after a moment, they finally started to push out the baby girl.

"This is gonna be a scoop and run," Bobby explained, and then he glanced over to the two female paramedics waiting for their next task. "Hen, get the ambulance ready. Lynn, hand me an extra towel."

"Got it," Lynn nodded instantly, moving forward while she pulled out an off white towel from her bag, handing it to the captain. All while doing so, Hen bursted into a jog out of the apartment again.

Lynn stood in between Chimney and Buck as they started to push the baby out of the pipe, and Lynn moved her shoulders further so she could wipe the disgusting dirty water and such from the baby's skin. Seeing the poor thing like this made Lynn want to burst into tears at the sight, she thought anyone would, but seeing how professional everyone else was she knew she needed to keep serious.

"All right, she's not breathing," Bobby stated, and once the baby was fully covered by the blanket, he began CPR on the frail body. "Starting CPR."

After a failed attempt with CPR and then unable to use the small suction pump specifically for baby's, Lynn thought that her first call was going to be the first person she lost, at least, as a firefighter. Bobby fiddled with the newborns back for a moment. And then, erupting throughout the apartment, was the baby girls first cry.

"Okay, wrap her up," Bobby instructed, and then Lynn took the spare towel she had in her hand and started to wrap the soft blanket around the now crying baby girl. "Let's go!"

After the firefighters, along with the newborn baby, jogged their way out of the shriveled apartment, Bobby aimed for the elevator.

"Nobody held the elevator?" Bobby asked, obviously sounding a bit annoyed mixed with disappointed. Lynn felt even more than him however, knowing that since she was the candidate she should have been the one to do so.

"Guess not," Chimney responded, and he swung his bag over his shoulder quickly as he started to shove his index finger on the elevator button several times. "Sorry, Cap."

"Yo, give her to Eve," Buck spoke up, and Lynn went wide eyed as she glanced over to Buck with a bit of disbelief. "She's twice as fast."

Lynn switched from Buck to Bobby, who was now staring at her, almost waiting to hear if she could do such a thing.

"Yeah, I got this," Lynn nodded quickly, and after a split second of Bobby thinking whether or not he could trust the new girl, he carefully handed the newborn baby off to her. "Hey, baby girl, I'm right here. Evan, take my bag."

Quickly, Lynn shoved her medic bag into Buck's chest as she gazed down to the newborn that was now calmly placed in her arms. She wasn't new to holding a baby, obviously, but every time she did so it truly felt like the first time.

"We'll meet you down there," Bobby stated, and Lynn glanced backwards one last time to give an affirmative nod and then started racing down the stairs.

"You're doing so great," Lynn cooed softly towards the baby, a small smile riddled on her lips due to how adorable she was. "Yeah, that's right."

Lynn always liked the idea of having kids, well, either one or two, not a whole bunch of little hers wondering around. But she wanted them to be with someone who loved her just as much as they would love their kids, not just because she wanted to have them.

"Be careful, Eve," Buck spoke up behind her, and she would've sent him a deadpan face for questioning her but now wasn't the time.

"I know, Evan," Lynn replied quickly, but her annoyed expression left her face quickly as she glanced back down to the baby girl, who was now sucking on her small pinky finger.

After another few seconds on the stairs, both of the small paramedics made it outside once again. Lynn glanced up to see Hen staring her down, maybe to see if Lynn was actually okay with carrying the baby.

"Come on, get ready!" Bucks voice echoed behind her, and once Hen heard his statement, she swung on her hips and made her way towards the front of the ambulance.

The two paramedics hop into the back of the ambulance, and just as soon as a man was about to slam both doors shut so they could start their drive to the hospital, they were interrupted with yelling.

"Hold up! Hold up! I got another one coming."

"Yo, is that the mother?" Buck shouted, and Lynn wanted to scold him for being so unprofessional, but she kept her lips sealed. He then pointed to the baby that was gently curled up on Lynn's lap, and continued. "No, screw her! Look what she did!"

"She's bleeding out!" Athena yelled, pointing towards a young woman in a mans arms. She had blood on her stomach and legs, and looked as if she was about to pass out any second.

"Let her on!" Lynn ordered, and then Buck glanced over to her with betrayal written in his eyes.

"She's a child!"

"Hey, hey, you got to go! What are you waiting for?" Bobby spoke up, and Lynn hoped just because Buck was refusing to take the young woman she wouldn't be dragged in on it.

"He is refusing to takeโ€”"

"โ€”Okay, okay," Bobby shook his head, knowing that the problem was rising from Buck being unprofessional, once again. He picked the girl from the short mans grasp, and then made his way onto the ambulance beside Lynn.

"Yo, if this baby dies, it's on you!"
