DREW didn't expect to be spending so much time with the blonde singer. He hadn't expected to like her as much as he did. Standing in her kitchen with a beer in hand, watching as she neatly placed the snacks on trays and swayed her hips to the beat of the song flowing through her speakers, all while rambling on about the statistics of scary movies and their correlation to real life violence in teens.

He smiled to himself, leaning his lower back against the kitchen island and bringing his beer to his lips.

Juliette turned towards him with a smile, sucking in a breath and placing the charcuterie tray on the island beside him. "How does it look?"

Drew glanced down at it, a smile spreading on his lips at the realization that she placed the crackers, meat, cheese and olives in the shape of a pumpkin. "It looks great." He laughed, reaching out and plucking an olive from the tray, tossing it in his mouth.

Juliette gasped, playfully slapping the back of her hand against his side, "Don't ruin my masterpiece before Sadie and Noah can see it." She scrunched her nose at his eye roll, whipping her phone out from her sweats pocket and opening her camera to take a picture. "She's beautiful."

Drew laughed again before raising an eyebrow at a Hozier song that began playing. He smirked, placing his beer down on the island and reaching out to grab her hands.

Juliette chuckled, staring up at him in confusion, "What are we doing? Where are you taking me?" She raised her brows as he pulled her to the open space in her kitchen, "We're dancing."

Juliette shook her head, "Just because I said I took dance classes doesn't mean I was good at it." Drew shrugged and clicked his teeth, spinning her around, Juliette slowly going under his arm with a smile, "Too bad."

She grinned up at him, butterflies swarming in her stomach as he moved her out, careful of the dinner table before spinning her back into him so her arms were crossed over her front and her back was against his chest.

As they playfully danced to the song, Juliette smiled. She couldn't believe that she was dancing in her kitchen to a Hozier song with the prettiest man she had ever met.

She remembered when she started dating Griffin, how it felt in the beginning. They hadn't been friends for long before they started dating; just after wrapping the movie they were in together. It didn't feel like this. That was fast-paced, public, overwhelming.

This, this was different. It was slow, private. They had been building a friendship before starting anything, getting to know each other, learning each other's quirks and hobbies and fascinations. It scared her a bit.

Drew was playful, excited, passionate, kind, hot. He was quiet and liked a private life despite his very public career. He was everything Juliette wanted in a guy...yet she couldn't help but think there was a catch. There had to be something wrong with him.

"Juliette Carter! I have return—hello."

Juliette gasped in surprise, pulling away from Drew and spinning to look at Sadie and Noah, who were standing in her open doorway. "Sadie!" Juliette smiled, rushing over to her best friend and throwing her arms around her shoulders.

Sadie squealed, the girls embracing each other tightly as Noah moved around the girls towards the kitchen. "Hey, man. Good to see you again."

Noah fist bumped Drew before placing his bag of food on the counter. Drew chuckled, "Good to see you too, man. How ya' been?"

The two men broke into conversation, Sadie pulling away from Juliette and glancing behind the blonde at Drew. "What is going on?"

Juliette's cheeks bloomed pink, shaking her head, "Nothing." Sadie sent her pointed look, Juliette shaking her head again, "Nothing. Seriously, we're just...hanging out."

"Alone? In your kitchen? Dancing to Hozier? Hm." Sadie playfully raised a brow and looked Juliette up and down. The blonde rolled her eyes and gently pushed Sadie away, walking back into the kitchen.

"What'd you bring, Noah?"

"I got cool ranch Doritos, sour gummy worms, Dr. Pepper, buffalo chicken dip, pitta bread pieces and roasted tomato hummus." Juliette grinned at the lineup, stepping between him and Drew to watch Noah place the items on the counter one by one. "You're a saint, Smith."

"I know. I'm gonna go pick out a movie line-up." Juliette nodded, the boy disappearing into the living room as Sadie approached, placing her backpack on a chair.

"Good to see you again, Drew."

Drew smiled at Sadie, stepping an inch closer to Juliette so his front was touching her back, "Good to see you too, Sadie. How was your trip?"

Juliette's cheeks bloomed pink once again, ignoring Sadie's glance as the brunette opened her backpack, "It was good! It's always nice seeing my family, especially because we live so far apart. And I brought you your gift, Jules."

Juliette clapped excitedly, licking her lips expectantly as Sadie pulled a white t-shirt out from the bag.

When she opened it, Juliette couldn't help the boisterous laugh that escaped her. The t-shirt had a license plate on it, True Florida Cracker; endangered species written on it.

She grabbed the shirt and hugged Sadie, "It's perfect."

Juliette turned to a confused Drew, before giggling, "We all have a tradition of buying the most obnoxious shirt we can find from whatever state we go to. We all have massive collections of just ridiculous tourist t-shirts from all over the world."

Drew laughed with a nod, "That's funny."

"Let's go, people! Freddy Krueger awaits you!"

Juliette chuckled at Noah's shouts, the three of them grabbing the snacks and drinks and carrying them into the darkened living room. Noah had lit a couple of candles, basking the room in a soft light while the tv sat on pause.

"I'll grab blankets!" Juliette grinned, rushing from the living room and into her spare bedroom, where her cabinet of extra household items sat. She grabbed 4 random blankets off the shelf, spinning on her heel and rushing back out.

Drew sat wide eyed on the loveseat, eyes locked on Sadie, who sat next to Noah on the couch. Usually, Juliette laid across the couch while Sadie and Noah occupied her large dark brown loveseat, so now that means Juliette is left with two options; the couch next to Sadie or the loveseat with Drew. The thought made her stomach flutter.

Juliette raised her eyebrow at Drew's somewhat terrified expression, Sadie sitting back smugly while Noah hid his smile in his hoodie covered palm.

Drew cleared his throat, Juliette tossing a large red plaid blanket and a plain dark blue blanket at Sadie and Noah's heads, chuckling at their grunts of surprise. She smiled at Drew, holding out a ribbed gray blanket to him.

He smiled up at her, taking the blanket from her hand and scooting over in the loveseat. A silent invitation to sit with him.

Juliette's cheeks bloomed, the girl gripping her fluffy pink blanket tightly as she nodded and sat down beside him on the chair.

He adjusted himself, throwing his arm on the back of the loveseat behind her head. Juliette steadied her breathing as she got comfortable, kicking her slippers off her feet and bringing her legs up onto the chair.

Her eyes glanced over at Sadie, who was staring at the two with a smirk. Juliette glanced beside her at Drew, who was turning his phone brightness down and silencing the device, completely oblivious to Sadie's staring. Juliette looked back at Sadie for a moment, before Noah clapped his hands together excitedly.

"Movie time, bitches."

He grabbed the remote from the table, swiping a fist full of popcorn before leaning back on the couch and pressing play.

The first 30 minutes of the movie, Juliette and Drew kept their distance on the love seat, both of them sitting on opposite sides. Juliette stayed cuddled up under her blanket, feigning for the warmth it provided. Juliette liked to keep her apartment cold, very cold. She liked being cuddled up under warm clothes and heavy blankets.

Somehow, at some point, Juliette had switched positions and ended up partially pressed against the man. She could feel the warmth of the side of his arm through her hoodie, her body relaxing at the warmth radiating off of the man. Drew glanced down at her with a small smile, adjusting himself slightly to press against her fully. Juliette smiled, scooting closer and leaning her head against his shoulder.

It felt so easy with him. Once she got past that initial awkwardness and nervousness, everything with him came easy. It terrified her.

Juliette wasn't sure when exactly she dozed off, all she remembers is closing her eyes and reopening them to the sound of Drew and Noah's whispers.

"Are you kidding me? She looks too cute to disturb."

"Just get up, she sleeps like a rock, man."

"Fuck, yeah, alright."

Juliette frowned at that, peeling her eyes open, ignoring the sting from the brightness of the kitchen light. She realized where she was, head propped up against Drew's shoulder and cuddled under the same blanket as him.

"I'm up." She mumbled, sitting up and rubbing her eyes with the backs of her hands. Noah chuckled at the girls hair, Drew smiling and jumping from the love seat.

Before she could ask if he was leaving, he had disappeared through the curtains of the  balcony window, and Juliette could see the flicker of a lighter thorough the crack in the curtain.

She chuckled at her nervousness, raising an eyebrow to herself at the realization that she really didn't want him to leave.

"I like him, Jules."

She looked up at Noah and smiled, repositioning herself on the loveseat so her legs were propped up on the cushion and her head had against the armrest, "Yeah, me too."

"It's nice. You seem really...I don't know, smitten." Noah shrugged, grabbing the empty popcorn bowl from his lap to place it on the table and grab his wine cooler. Juliette chuckled, "Smitten? What are you, 75?"

"Maybe."

Juliette's eyes cast over to Sadie, who was curled up in a ball at the edge of the couch, knocked out. She had fallen asleep way before Juliette and Noah couldn't help but pause the movie to snap a photo of the girl.

"Should we call it a night?"

"Nah, let's finish the movie. Can I crash here? We're not gonna be able to wake Sadie up until morning, anyway."

Juliette nodded with a smile as Drew emerged from the balcony, closing the large window behind him, "Yeah, of course, Noah. Always."

Drew clapped and sat back down on the loveseat, reaching out and grabbing Juliette by the legs to place her feet in his lap, "Let's finish this movie. I wanna see Nancy give Freddy a piece of his own medicine."

Juliette chuckled, getting herself comfortable as Noah pressed play on the movie.

"I had a lot of fun today, thank you for inviting me." Juliette grinned up at Drew, using her hoodie sleeve to wipe at her tired eyes while nodding, "I'm glad you came, too. It was fun."

Drew clicked his teeth, reaching out to brush some hair behind her ear, "Can I ask you to hang out again soon or do you think we're spending too much time together?" Juliette gigged, shaking her head, "I'd love to hang out again soon. This Saturday maybe?"

Drew grunted and wrapped his arm around the back of her neck to pull her into a hug, "That's so far away."

"Take it or leave it, Starkey. I'm spending so much time with you that I'm ignoring my songwriter duties." She poked him in the stomach before wrapping her arms around his back and linking her fingers together. Yes, she needed to write, but she needed to put some distance between them, she could feel herself getting attached and it was scaring her.

"Fine." Drew groaned before pulling away from her, "I suppose I can wait." Juliette nodded with a chuckle, pushing up onto her toes to press her lips against his cheek.

"Text me when you get home."

Drew grinned and nodded, swinging his keyring around his finger before stepping past the threshold of the door and glancing back at her over her shoulder, "See you Saturday."

"I'll see you Saturday."
