Being Ricky Bowen's best friend wasn't easy. It was nothing on the boy himself, oh no, it was the amount of love Athena Blake held for him. The two of them were always attached at the hip from a young age since they were neighbors. And Athena, her heart slightly breaking, was forced to watch from the sidelines as Ricky and Nini Salazar-Roberts fell in love with one another.

However, when Ricky fails to tell Nini he loves her back, a new plan is put into motion: auditioning for the school production of High School Musical: The Musical in order to get back with Nini. But he can't do it alone.
