snowed in
Violet's Outfit
Shortly after we'd all reunited with Nini, and Miss Jenn had agreed to drive her to the bus station, the lights went out completely.
Since I was kinda like super afraid of the dark, I gripped Ricky's hand for dear life as we walked out into the hallway.
"Guys...look outside. It's snowing really bad", Carlos said.
We all looked, and saw that it was snowing super hard. Also, it seemed like everyone else who was at school for after school activities had left, leaving us as the only ones there.
"Ok, we need to find food, flashlights, and water. Conserve your phone battery and let your parents know you're ok every hour", Gina said, taking control.
"Yay!" Ashlyn and Big Red said, smiling at one another.
Ricky and I gave each other a look. Not to be like judgmental or whatever, but it was a bit odd that they were so excited to be locked in a dark, abandoned school during a blizzard.
After some more deliberation, it was decided that we would all split up. Ashlyn and I were instructed to go find food, so off we went.
"Do you have any food left over from lunch or something in your locker?" Ashlyn asked me, as we walked throughout the hallway.
"I have a big thing of Oreos. They were gonna be Big Red and I's rehearsal cookies for today", I laughed.
"Your rehearsal cookies?" Ashlyn laughed.
"Yeah, since we're usually on breaks at the same time, we've set up a system. We share cookies and watch movies on one of our phones during like big choreography days where we aren't in the scene. It's kinda fun", I laughed.
"Aw, I love that! Well, let's go to your locker and get the Oreos, and then we can see what's in the cafeteria?" Ashlyn suggested.
"Perfect!" I exclaimed.
After we'd grabbed the cookies from my locker as well as some leftover bags of chips from the cafeteria, we began to walk down the stairwell to the practice room.
"Why do I wanna sing in the stairwell?" I asked, laughing.
"No, but same. Like, I've wanted to sing 'I Won't Say I'm In Love' from Hercules in this stairwell since freshman year", Ashlyn said.
"Well, now we definitely have to do it at some point", I said matter-of-factly.
"Oh for sure", Ashlyn said, as we continued walking.
Once we made it down to the rehearsal room, we brought in the stuff we'd gathered and took seats in the circle with everyone else.
"So...who wants to...play charades?" Seb suggested.
We all agreed, so off we went.
It was kinda fun, and I played a pretty damn good flamingo if I do say so myself.
I sat back, with Ricky's arm around me as we watched all the others take their turns. It was super relaxing, and it really helped me to keep my mind off the slight anxiety I had from being locked inside the school in the dark and all that shit.
However, my phone kept going off like every five seconds. At first, I decided to ignore it, but after some time I started to get a little worried. What if something was wrong with my mom? What if something happened on her way home from work?
I slipped out my phone, and saw that I had received 8 texts and 3 phone calls from Romeo in just the past hour.
Everything he said was nice, I mean, he basically just was asking if I was okay and if I was home.
But still, it just made me a bit uncomfortable that he'd contacted me so many times in such a short period of time.
I didn't wanna be rude though, because he didn't know many people and didn't have many friends in town yet, so I just replied back and put my phone away.
"Is everything ok? Your phone is blowing up", Ricky said.
"Yeah, yeah. It's fine", I said, not making eye contact.
Ricky had never really liked Romeo, and recently, he'd begun to dislike him even more. He'd told me multiple times that there was something creepy about him and that he just gave him a weird vibe. Which yeah, I understood, but at the same time I didn't want to be a bitch to Romeo just because of all the history we had and because of how sweet he'd always been to me.
I laid my head on Ricky's shoulder as we watched Seb try and act like a cat during charades, which was funny for a whole bunch of different reasons.
After another quick series of my phone ringing with notification after notification, I pulled my phone back out, rolling my eyes when I saw that it was Romeo, yet again texting me over and over again.
This time, he had offered to come pick me up due to the fact that his Jeep could drive through the snow. Not only that, but it just pissed me off that he kept acting like I should be grateful for his attention and his offers.
It was annoying that he was acting like I should be grateful for him, when in reality, I was only keeping in contact with him to be nice.
"Is everything ok?" Ricky asked me quietly, noticing the face I was making while reading the texts on my phone.
"Can we talk in the hallway?" I asked quietly, feeling really guilty for texting Romeo. He'd been the one to text me originally, but for some reason everytime I replied to his texts, I felt like I was betraying Ricky, and even though I knew I wasn't technically cheating, I still felt like a traitor.
Ricky nodded, and him and I walked out into the hallway.
"So...What's wrong?" Ricky asked, as soon as we were in the hallway and were far enough away so that no one else could hear us.
"Romeo has been blowing up my phone all day! For every text I send, he sends me like ten back. He knows I don't like him like that, and every time I text him I feel like I'm betraying you!" I exclaimed, tears in my eyes.
"Wait...so you're still texting him back? Even though he's bothering you?" Ricky said.
"...yeah. Are you mad? Shit, I'm so sorry! I promise I don't have feelings for him. I just...I don't know, we have like a shared history sorta and I just feel bad because he doesn't really have any friends here and I don't want to ghost him or anything. I just feel so scared that by texting him, I'll ruin things between you and I!" I ranted anxiously.
"Violet, I'm not mad at you at all. I mean, yeah, I'm kinda pissed at Romeo for laying all his problems on you and making you feel that way. But I could never be mad at you for something like this, I promise", Ricky said, taking my hand in his.
"Really?" I asked.
"Really", Ricky replied, hugging me.
After a few minutes of Ricky just letting me calm down some, it was time to go back to the rehearsal room.
"Vi?" Ricky said, as we walked.
"Yeah?" I said, smiling up at him.
"I love you", he said.
I grinned. Even though we'd been dating for nearly 4 months now, hearing him say 'I love you' to me still made my heart skip a beat.
"I love you too", I blushed.
The rest of our time locked inside the school was pretty much just fun and relaxing, and I actually ended up having a good time. Despite how horrible the snow and the power outages were, I was happier than ever to have Ricky by my side through it all, and that's all that mattered.
Author's Note: Hey babes! I hope you enjoyed this chapter! It was a lot of fun to write, because as y'all know, I love my Ricky and Violet moments lol. I'm sorry for being so inactive lately- things have been crazy with finals and all that kinda stuff. I'm hoping to be more active soon because I'm done school this week (yay!). I'm planning on updating the same time next week, so stay tuned!!!
Lots of love, Beth ❤️❤️❤️
