"ayo dude, is everything alright with jake?" yeonjun whispered to jay right after they finished their warm-up routine.

"i don't think there's anything, why?"

"then why does he look like he's on crack so early in the morning?" yeonjun pointed out with his chin.

when jay turned his head, he saw jake grinning and hopping around like he was shooting on disney channel.

"see? he looks like he consumed a good amount of crack. check your friend, will you?" jay sighed and yeonjun pats his back as a moral support.

they started their practice game, and although jay is curious about what has gotten jake to act like that, he has a good guess on what has happened.

heeseung probably happened. he's the only reason that could get his best friend so happy.

"jay, kick the goddamn ball!" he snapped out of his thoughts and tried to score a point, but serim was quick to snatch the ball away from him.

"still sleeping, park?" the guy joked, and jay just rolled his eyes as a response.

"jay!" jake pulled him away to get his attention. "what's up with you?"

he glanced at him, "i should be the one to ask that. why do you look so chirpy today? you hate morning practice."

jake bit his lower lip to stop himself from smiling. "heeseung asked me to have breakfast with him!" he said in a hush voice, as if trying to keep it a secret.

jay tried his best not to look shocked. heeseung did? "wow, that's great then. i think everything's going smoothly for you."

"all thanks to you, bestie." jake winks at him and smiled.

he laughs, ignoring the weird feeling inside his stomach. "right, you should worship me. i'm the best at matchmaking."

and apparently, i'm the best at playing pretend too. i'm so talented.

"we'll continue in the afternoon, don't forget the penalty for those who came in late!" their coach yelled, letting the players rest on the bleachers.

"fuck it..." jay removed his headband and tossed it on the bench. the heat is almost killing him. he wiped his sweat using the face towel that he brought.

he sees jake beside him being busy with his phone. he already showered and changed his clothes, and now he's probably texting heeseung.

jay was about to drink water when jake pulled his arm. "shit, jay. he's here." the guys whispered with excitement.

without a second thought, jay looks up only to see heeseung walking towards the bleachers. when he finally sees him up close, he realizes that he's wearing his jacket from last night.

why the hell would he wear a jacket in this heat? crazy bastard.

"hello hyung!" jake greets enthusiastically.

"hi jake," heeseung waves his hand and then looks at jay's direction. "hey."

"don't hey me. do you want to experience heatstroke that bad? take off my jacket." he gestures his palm open in front of the older.

heeseung laughed before removing the jacket. "here, thanks by the way." jay just nodded at him and took his jacket, putting it inside his bag.

jake had no clue on why heeseung was wearing his best friend's jacket, but he just ignored it. heeseung probably borrowed it from last time.

"so... let's go? i'm starving." jake grabbed his backpack. "jay, wanna come with us?" he asked, since he didn't really wanna leave his best friend alone.

he raised an eyebrow at jake. is he insane? "no thanks, you guys can go ahead. enjoy your breakfast."

"why not? you can join us." heeseung casually adds, tilting his head to the side.

i want to die. "nope, no thank you. i still have to shower-"

"then we'll wait for you."

"but i take long showers-"

"surely it won't take a day?" jay's eyebrows are now furrowed, thanks to heeseung.

"no, it won't. but i don't want you to wait for me. so go and have your breakfast. i'll be fine by myself." he stares at jake, trying to send a signal to leave him alone.

i'm trying my best to give you an opportunity with heeseung, so please just leave. he's practically screaming those words with his eyes.

"if that's what you want, then we'll go ahead. see you later, jay!" jake finally catches on and quickly waves goodbye to him.

heeseung sighed. "fine, suit yourself." he shrugs before walking away.

jay lets out a sigh of relief. thank gods they're gone.

"you're back already?" sunoo greets jay as he enters their apartment. "you don't have class anymore?"

he shakes his head. he feels too tired to answer. why does it seem like i don't have the energy today?

"come here," sunoo walked towards jay and reached out his hand, making him sit on the dinner table.

"you didn't have breakfast, right? eat this." the younger handed him a lunchbox, and it looks like the food's been bought at a restaurant.

"you bought food this early?" jay asked, opening the box. he doesn't have the appetite to eat but the food looks great.

sunoo shakes his head, "heeseung did. he was here a couple of minutes ago just to drop this, then he just left."

wait what.

jay frowned. "heeseung?"

what the hell is up with that guy?
