"well, you look busy." jay stopped typing on his phone and looked up, only to see jake glaring at him.

"hi? why are you looking at me like that— ouch!" he groaned when the guy hits the back of his head.

"why aren't you replying to my texts? i have a lot to tell you!"

"whatever that is, i'm sure i don't need to hear it—"

"i almost died of heart attack when heeseung went to my apartment!"

oh for fuck's sake, i really don't wanna hear it. jake sat beside him and continued to babble about how heeseung helped him a lot on his project, and how they got along so well.

he chose the table at the end of the library aisle so that he'll have no trouble with the noise, but jake took his silence away.

"and he eats ramyun on a daily basis too! we are meant to be i swear to—" jake stops talking when he sees jay's attention still glued on his phone. "are you even listening to me?"

"i already know that, jake. can't we just talk about something else?"

jake's smile slowly fades, realizing that jay is serious. did something happen? why does he look mad?

"oh, okay. i was just trying to update my best friend about my life..." he pursed his lips closed.

jay sighed. now he feels guilty of shutting the guy up. "i'm sorry, i have a deadline to meet so i'm stressed right now."

jake nodded at him but didn't answer, so he moved his chair closer towards the boy and nudged his arm lightly.

"don't get all sulky, jaeyun." he tried to get his attention by poking his cheek.

jake glared at him. "i hate you," he pouted. "you know i was really excited to tell you about my progress with heeseung."

"okay, you can tell me now. how was it?"

"it was so great!" jake's eyes light up with excitement as he squeals. "i still can't believe he went to my apartment just to help me with my project. my heart was pounding real hard that day!"

jay just let his head rest on his hand while he watched his best friend talk about the guy that he likes. he stares at jake's gleaming face, his mind full of thoughts.

he's so enthusiastic when it comes to heeseung. but what if heeseung hurts him?

no. it won't happen.

i'll make sure heeseung falls in love with jake. no matter what.

heeseung stretched his arms before standing up, finally leaving his computer. he just spent two hours watching a boring webinar so he's already tired.

he grabbed his wallet and went out of his dorm for fresh air.

"you're going out at this hour?" jeongin asked while lying on the couch. "it's already past midnight."

"just gonna grab some drinks. i'll be back in a bit." he waved his hand to say goodbye as he walked out of their dormitory.

heeseung shivered when the cold air hit his face. he forgot to bring a jacket. he stared at the sky for a second before heading towards the convenience store just right across the street.

he took three cans of beer and two sandwiches for him and his roommate. he went straight to the counter and grabbed a pack of cigarettes before paying.

when heeseung went out of the store, he opened the box and took one stick. and don't get him wrong, he's not addicted to smoking. he just smokes when he's feeling too tensed. it's used to calm his nerves down.

"look at you smoking again." heeseung stops putting the cigarette on his lips when he hears a familiar voice behind him.

"put that cancer away from your mouth."

he smirks, raising the stick before putting it back inside his pocket. "i didn't know you're a nagger too, jay. you almost sound like sunoo for a second."

jay looks at him with boredom. he's holding a paperbag while wearing a jacket and sweatpants, so he probably just went outside to buy food.

"well, we're roommates for a reason." the boy went closer. oh, he's wearing glasses. i almost didn't notice.

"you wear eyeglasses?" he asked out of curiosity.

"you didn't know? my eyesight's worse than you can imagine. i only wear contacts because glasses annoy me." jay frowned, "why are you out at this hour?"

heeseung shrugged. "i'm a night owl."

"oh, where's your wings then?"

he blinked, confused. "was that a joke?"

jay glared at him. they stood in front of the convenience store for a moment, silence enveloping them.

seconds later, jay stares at heeseung again. "aren't you cold?"

"i'm a warm-blooded person. i don't get cold." he casually replies.

"are you usually this dumb? you sound like you're drunk already. you should go back to your dorm and sleep." jay puts down his paperbag and takes off his jacket.

"here, wear this."

jay hands him the jacket but heeseung just stares at him. he sighs and puts his jacket around heeseung's shoulders, making sure that his back is covered up.

"wait, aren't you cold too—"

"it's fine, i don't get cold fast." jay taps his shoulder, "i'm off to finish my project. don't wander around the streets and just go home, bye!"

jay walked fast in the opposite direction, while heeseung remained standing outside the store— his hand holding the hem of jay's jacket.
