It has been a few weeks since Elliot's death, and Eva was depressed.
Bianca was also depressed. If she hadn't kicked Elliot out, maybe he'd still be alive right that moment.

But everyone knew it wouldn't change a thing.

Eva's brother has been murdered on a train, and all the government did was to shut down the line.

It has been shut, and it wouldn't be used ever again, but the police officers weren't able to find the cannibal murderer.

And since their house was close to the train station, she was able to hear the train whistle everytime it passed.

But now that the line has been shut down, why is she still hearing the train whistle ? And the friction of its wheels on the iron bars ?

And most important, why does she keep hearing her brother's blood curdling screams everytime she tries to close her eyes ?
