Chapter 8 ~ Witch or Vampire?

Episode: Season 7 - Shut Up, Dr. Phil Pt. 2

We hoped that that was the end of it all right then and there. But after saving Don's assistant from certain death by cupcake, we knew the wife as involved after all. Dean and I headed back to the hotel then while Sam went out to look for the ingredient we needed to get rid of this witch. Dean had just sat down across from me at the small table in the room when Sam walked inside.

"Dude - pie!" he told his brother happily, about to take a huge bite of the cream pie in front of him.

Suddenly, Sam tossed the bag he was holding in his hand right beside Dean's plate of pie. Dean gagged as the smell wafted up from the bag.

"Oh - that is-" Dean began but I cut him off.

"Yummy! Chicken feet!" I said cheerfully, only to earn a look from Dean which I returned with a glare of my own, "Do not judge me, Winchester!"

"Wouldn't dream of it, Martinez." he smirked, making me feel hot all over as his green eyes bored into mine.

Sam informed us then of the power outages - all Maggie's work we assumed - and it was back to the charity auction we went. Except...when we arrived, everything was in disarray. It was a crime scene now - apparently, Maggie's best friend had been decapitated...by a flying serving tray.

"Okay, I don't guess she'd do this to her own auction," Sam surmised, eyeing the body.

"No, obviously, it was someone who hated her guts...and wanted her party trashed," Dean said with a knowing look.

"Don Stark." Sam nodded, a light dawning in his hazel eyes.

My own eyes widened as we exited the building.

"So the mister is a witch himself. Which means we got not only one angry witch - we got two. It's full-on War of the Roses," Dean grumbled as we walked out of the building.

"Yeah, Bewitched got a lot less funny," Sam agreed.

"Just like when they switched Darrins," Dean nodded.

"Wait just a second - so you guys are trying to say that Spike is a witch too?!" I exclaimed whilst followed along behind them, briefly throwing my hands up in the air in exasperation as we climbed into Baby, "Well, that's just peachy! Who's gonna tell Buffy, huh?! Of course now Willow won't be the only witch. Oh, hey, now her and Spike can bond - maybe become friends-"

"Parker, shut up!" both boys snapped from the front seat.

Huffing, I crossed my arms over my chest, "Fine! But I don't support this whole Spike and Cordelia ship. Spuffy forever!"

But as it turns out, it didn't take long to get everything resolved. Apparently, they'd been married for centuries and this kind of thing was normal for them. Unfortunately for us though, a Leviathan was lying in wait in our hotel room. If it wasn't for Don showing up when he did, it might have even killed Sam. After being helped up off the floor by Sam where the thing had thrown me, we thanked him. Waving us off, he stepped over to the beds on the other side of the room before removing three tiny bags from underneath.

"Wha - Maggie? Seriously?" Sam asked to which Don only nodded.

"She was gonna kill us? We just saved your marriage," Dean griped at the witch.

"Yeah. But to be fair, you also tried to kill her," Don reminded him, " You know how she is when she gets angry. Gotta love her, right?"

Shrugging when no one responded, he waved goodbye before exiting. But while the boys were busy cleaning up the body, I slipped outside after Don.

"Hey, wait up!" I called after him, making him stop in his tracks to turn and face me.

His blue eyes connected with mine just a fraction of a second before I did a very bold thing. Looping my hands around his neck, I brought his lips down to mine in a gentle, chaste kiss. Surprisingly, he din't push me away and kissed back. Even more surprising...I didn't feel a thing. Not one single spark. I frowned in confusion as he pulled away. I thought kissing Spike would make me feel...something.

"Not what you'd hoped for, little witch?" he asked me softly, making my eyes flick to his in surprise.

He smirked knowingly at the dumbfounded expression on my face.

"I've been around a long time. I can tell the difference in a kiss," he explained gently, not hurt in the slightest at being used in this way, "As well as knowing a fellow witch when I see one,"

When I said nothing in response, he only smiled down at me, his hand reaching out to cup my cheek as if I was a very small child.

"There's something besides magic in you, little one. And it's starting to awaken," he whispered to me quietly, gazing deep into my eyes, "But embrace it...don't fight it."

My eyebrows drew together in confusion but he only smiled softly before releasing his hand and walking off into the darkness, leaving his words resounding in my head.
