Chapter Three

"Ophelia! Please, don't be mad." Alex said as he chased after the girl, who was storming down the hallway.

"Stop talking to me, Alex." Ophelia said annoyed as she swung the Alvarez's apartment open.

"Why would you send me a text saying I needed to be here?" Ophelia asked Schneider as she sat down next to Elena, with a huff.

"I take it the museum didn't go as planned." Schneider said as they all turned to Alex.

"We had a great time at the museum." he said with with a smile as Ophelia rolled her eyes yet again.

"I saw your finsta." Penelope said as she held her hand up.

"What? But Scott told me bro workers before-" Alex began but was cut off quickly.

"No!" Penelope shook her head, stopping him from saying what he was thinking.

"Serves you right." Ophelia said with her arms crossed as he sighed.

"Look it's not a big deal, everyone has one of those." Alex shrugged his shoulders.

"Does everyone else post pictures of themselves running around like a goose, honking everything in sight? I feel terrible for making Ophelia keep a eye on you two!" Penelope explained as she pointed toward the girl then back to Alex.

"What?" Alex asked confused with frowned eyebrows.

"Honking boobs!" Penelope yelled at him with a insane look.

"Alex, Alex, Alex... I mean, tweaking tatas. Fondling fun bags, grabbing gazungas." Schneider began to list off as everyone gave him a weird look.

"What? Sorry, I lost my train of thought." he said while taking a step back, making Ophelia slap her forehead as Syd gave her back a rub.

"It's just dumb stuff that makes my friends laugh, and gets me three hundred and twenty likes." Alex spoke as if he was proud, Ophelia rolled her eyes yet again.

"Well it's not cute, Alex! Especially how you were treating Chloe." Penelope explained as he simple rolled his eyes.

"She is right, Papito. I've taught you better manners then that." Lydia explained as Penelope gave an annoyed look.

"Actually I taught you better manners than that." the curly haired woman stopped her by pointed to herself.

"Because I taught you better manners then that." Lydia nodded her head as Ophelia watched closely between the two.

"Pero, in this case I feel responsible. Because I am the reason he got the date with Chloe in the first place." Lydia explained as Penelope cringed.

"Do I wanna hear the rest of this story?" she asked with an eyebrow raise.

"He was so sad because he asked Chloe out and she said no. But, what did I tell you? You keep trying! Were her down! Don't take no for an answer!" Lydia said as Ophelias eyes widened.

"Oh my god." she said to herself as Syd rubbed her back yet again.

"Mami, you literally told Alex no means yes?" Penelope asked her with a look of disbelief.

"Oh no, no, no. What I said was 'every no is a yes in disguise.' " Lydia said with a nod and a smile as Elena hit her head.

"Oh my god! Abuelita, you are an enabler of toxic masculinity." Elena explained to the older woman, who shook her head.

"Oh please, I do not enable toxic men. I clean Papitos room twice a day." Lydia explained as Ophelia gasped.

"And he believes in woman stereo types! To think I was considering wearing your teeth one day!" Ophelia said his way with a glare.

"You were considering?" Alex asked her with a hopeful smile.

"It's how society encouraged men to define their maleness as being aggressive, un-emotional, sex-obsessed." Elena listened on as Lydias eyebrows rose.

"You're just describing a man." Lydia explained with a shrug as Penelope sighed.

"Mami, maybe in your day but times change. Men need to be carful about how they talk to woman or else they'll get in trouble." Penelope explained as she looked from Lydia to Alex.

"So not true. I mean, i'm not trying to sound disrespectful here? but it has nothing to do with how they talk to us because they're scared they'll get in trouble. It's about how they shouldn't want to talk to us that way, how they should have more respect for the woman in this world." Ophelia spoke as Elena grinned at her words.

"Phelia is right, ohhh poor men. Now I can't yell from a passing car that I think a woman had sweet tatas!" Elena said sarcastically, any other time Ophelia would have smiled at the nickname, but decided against it here.

"I know, it's a shame. In my day when I walked down the street I would hear a symphony of complements." Lydia said as Elena scoffed.

"You where being harassed." she explained as Lydia nodded her head.

"Oh, yes. Much more then all the other woman." Lydia said with a smile as Ophelia sighed.

"Mami, maybe you're comfortable with that type of intention but not everyone is." Penelope explained as Ophelia cleared her throat loudly.

"Well then they are crazy, women want to be wooed." Lydia said as she took a seat next to Penelope.

"All do respect Lyds, but you seem like such a pick me girl." Ophelia explained as Elena nodded in agreement.

"Oh, yes! I would want to be picked. Like your tia Mimi, when she met your tio Rico she did not like him because he was a fahito. But Rico was not stopped by his unfortunate face. You see, he had a beautiful farm. And one night he broke into Mimis room and blindfolded her and they went for a drive." Lydia explained with a smirk on her face, making everyone look at her with wide eyes.

"Do I wanna hear the rest of this story?" Elena asked worried.

"And the next thing Mimi knew... she was afraid and barefoot standing infront of a sugarcane field." Lydia explained with a nod as Alex and Ophelia shared a wide eyed look.

"Oh my god!" Elena explained, voicing all their thoughts.

"I know, bare feet whoosh. Mimi said Rico took off her blindfold and she swooned! Because it was dark and it was working for him. And then Rico says, 'This can all be yours, Mimi.' And ticky tocky they've been married ever since. That is romance." Lydia explained with a clap of her  hands and a smile.

"That is the plot of taken two!" Penelope explained as Ophelia cringed.

"I'd hate to know which tia had to go through in Taken one." Ophelia said with wide eyes as she laced her hand together.

"And 'Tickey, Tockey.' seems to smooth over some really horrible things." Elena said as she mocked Lydia.

"Okay, Alex here's the thing about woman. Woman are beautiful. The curve of their neck, the way they move, everything." Schneider said as he stood up and looked down at the boy.

"Preach!" Syd said loudly with a laugh as Elena patted their leg.

"That's why i'm an ally. No means no, yes means yes." Schneider explained as Elena jumped in.

"But it's more complicated then that, Schneider. It can't just be a yes it has to be a enthusiastic yes." Elena explained as she turned to Syd.

"A hell yes!" they explained with a grin.

"A yes that doesn't involve hesitation. Like when you get offered a ride in the the ice cream truck to school." Ophelia said with a smile as Schneider and Penelope shared a look.

"Well, looks like i'll be driving her to school from now on." the blue eyes man said with a clear of his throat.

"We will show you." Elena said as she stood up and pulled Syd with her.

"Mom, can I please go to my room now?" Alex asked hopefully as Penelope waved him off.

"No honey, I think it's important that you watch this." she said to him while playing close attention to the two.

"Syd, may I place my hand on your shoulder?"

"Yes!"

"May I place my hand on your waist?"

"Yes!"

"Oh boy, I can feel the heats."

"May I lovingly caress the curve of your cheek because it feels like home?" Syd asked as Penelope laughed loudly.

"Come on, is this really what the kids do?" She asked as the couple answered with a loud yes.

"No ones ever done that." Alex said with a shake of his head.

"Be real, this is how your first kiss went?" Penelope asked as Syd laughed slightly.

"Oh no, not at all, this one just went for it." Syd explained as Elena gave them a cringe look.

"So you didn't know if you had their consent." Alex pointed out with a side grin.

"We were demonstrating the ideal." Elena said as Syd began to speak again.

"I remember she pulled that doctor who scarf around my neck, kinda chocked me actually. The cops had to break us up." Syd explained as Ophelia held back a laugh.

"Okay!" Elena spoke loudly while shoving them back down in their chair.

"I got to admit, i'm getting kinda confused." Alex said as Ophelia stood up and grabbed her bag.

"Well i'm not, and i'm leaving." she said as Elena shook her head.

"Wait no, I need your help here. You're the only one that understands." The girl pleaded as Ophelia gave her a small smile.

"I'm sorry, but i'm gonna go out. Schneider, i'll be at the bowling alley and then probably to that restaurant down the street. Is that okay?" Ophelia asked her Dad, speaking loudly as everyone looked up at her.

"Sure, but you said you hate bowling." He said confused as Ophelia nodded and grabbed the door handle.

"I do, but according to Chloes finsta, it's one of her favorite things to do. I'm taking her on a date! A date she deserved!" Ophelia said with a glare toward Alex as she swung the door open.

"Ophelia wait!" he begged but she was already out the door and nearly down the hallway.

When Ophelia got home later that night, she saw Alex sitting in her living room. With a small sigh, she shut the door behind her and turned to him as he stood up.

"How was your date?" he asked in a soft voice, his eyes reminding her of a puppies as she tried not to give into it.

"It was good, she's not really my type though. We do have plans next weekend as friends so..." Ophelia trialed off as he nodded.

"Ophie i'm so sorry, at the time I wasn't thinking about anyone but my friends. I should have been more respectful toward Chloe and you, it was wrong and I hope you know I didn't mean to hurt you." Alex explained as he took another step closer to her, Ophelia looked at her feet then back at him with a small nod.

"Chloe said you called her, that's nice of you. I expect you'll tell her in person on Monday thought, infront of everyone, right?" Ophelia asked as Alex chuckled slightly.

"Yeah, I will." he answered as Ophelia gave a half smile and a nod.

"Can we hang out again? A new episode of the Bachelor came on and it wouldn't be the same watching it without you." Alex explained with a hopeful look as Ophelia laughed.

"Yeah, course we can." she nodded as he went in for a hug before stopped himself.

"Oh, wait. Ophelia, may I hug you for a few seconds?" he asked as Ophelia laughed loudly again.

"You may." she said, quoting Elena and Syd before she wrapped her arms around him on a tight hug.
