"WHAT'S YOUR NAME, SOLDIER?" asked the brunette woman dressed in old clothing. She was in the middle of two of her friends, looking at the officer before them with admiration.

"Major Jasper Whitlock, ma'am." The honey-blonde answered, holding his hat against his stomach as he introduced himself.

"I hope you survive. You may be of great use to me." Said the woman before she started to near the man.

As she began to walk forward, the man-Jasper-could now see the woman's bloodshot eyes. They were as red as the very thing they crave, blood.

Even with only the moon as their source of light, he could see the way her eyes look at him. Like he was someone she has been looking for. Someone valuable for whatever it is that she has planned. And he was right. He was indeed worthy.

While the woman grabbed Jasper's neck, the honey-blonde looked straight into her eyes, searching for her soul. But there was none. And with that, the woman sinks her fangs deep into his neck.

A loud gasp escapes Luna's lips as her hand made its way to her neck, shooting upright as she did. The raven-haired girl panted while she recovered from the dream she just had. The dream that felt more real than reality. Maybe because it wasn't exactly a dream. It was a memory.

Her eyes trailed over to her window and another gasp leaves her lips when she sees a shadowy figure standing by her open window.

"What the fu-" Luna exclaimed but before she could finish her sentence, the man speeds his way towards Luna and places a hand over her mouth to keep her quiet.

It only took her a few seconds before she recognizes the face of the person in front of her, and she was ready to scream at him when he spoke.

"Do you want to wake the whole town?" Jasper asked, clearly referring to the girl's outrageously loud voice.

Luna contorted her face into an angry expression before she sticks her tongue out, licking the palm of Jasper's hand which caused him to withdrew his hand.

"Did you just lick my hand?" Jasper said as he wipes his palm.

"So, what if I did?" Luna replied.

Jasper could only roll his eyes as he muttered. "So childish."

Even though it can be barely heard, Luna picked up on it due to her enhanced hearing.

"Well, of course, I'm childish to you. You're old enough to be my grandpa." Luna retorted.

Just when she said that, she remembers everything that happened before the darkness swallowed her eyesight and fainted. There she noticed something strange about her.

"Why am I not running for the hills despite knowing you're a vampire?" Luna asked, her face contorted into a baffled expression as her still golden eyes stares right into Jasper's.

"Some people have special abilities that are magnified when they become vampires. I'm an empath. I have the ability to feel and manipulate one's emotions." Jasper explained.

Luna nodded slowly as her gaze drops down to her hands.

"So, that's what you're doing now? Keeping me from screaming bloody murder?" Luna said, a hint of mockery can still be heard in her voice.

Jasper shrugged. Jasper looks at Luna intently as he felt her curiosity overflowing.

"Do I still have gold eyes?" Luna asked.

Jasper nodded.

"Do I look good in them, though?" she asked, not really knowing why she would ask him that. It's not like his opinion matters to her. Although, it secretly does.

"You look good in everything." Jasper answered.

Luna scoffs, trying to cover up the warmth that started to creep up in her cheeks.

"Tell me something I don't know." Luna said.

Jasper simply smirked at her statement before responding. Well, she asked for it.

"Oh, we will." He said.

"A soulmate?!" Luna shrieked.

Every vampire in the vicinity winced at the ever so loudness of the raven-haired girl's voice as they sat in the living room of the glasshouse of the Cullen's.

"Exactly what I imagined her reaction would be." Rosalie said, rolling her eyes as she leaned back on the couch.

"Yes. You're Jasper's soulmate." Esme said.

The shocked expression that was plastered across Luna's face never faltered as she continued to respond.

"Let me enlighten you." Carlisle said.

"Please do." Luna said as she closed her eyes, feeling stressed out about the situation as she leaned back on the chair she's sitting on, which was positioned beside Jasper who stood with his arms crossed against his chest.

"Basically, vampire-human soulmate bonds work differently than soulmate bonds between both vampires and both humans. They are two completely different species that is why it's a lot more complicated. The vampire's heart mirrors the heart of the human soulmate, it's a way for them to know if something were to happen to them and allows them to feel what the other feels. Human soulmates developed their vampire soulmates' abilities as a way for the vampires to protect their human soulmates. Hence, the enhanced speed and strength that you have. But even though all of these are in the books, this kind of occurrence is actually rare." Carlisle explained, closing the book that he used as a reference to the whole vampire-human soulmate thing.

"How rare?" asked Jasper.

Carlisle shrugged. "Very. Some might even say it happens once in a blue moon." Their foster father answered.

"Aren't soulmates supposed to be like...I don't know...drawn to each other?" Luna asked.

"Well, aren't you drawn to Jasper?" Alice chimed in, a teasing smirk appearing on her lips.

"Absolutely not." Luna lied, she is very much drawn to him which Luna finds utterly irritating.

"She's lying." Edward joins in, mirroring Alice's smirk as he read Luna's mind.

"And what makes you think that, Eddie boy?" Luna said, a confident expression on her face, not knowing Edward's ability to read minds.

"Edward can read minds, Moonie." Emmett said. He was watching the exchange with his usual amused grin playing on his lips.

Luna shoots her eyebrows upward, before averting her gaze from a grinning Emmett to a smirking Edward. "Oh." She simply said.

You look constipated when you brood. Luna thought.

The words from Luna's mind seem to offend the bronze-haired vampire before he responded.

"I do not!" Edward defended, his smirk disappearing from his lips as a frown takes over.

It was Luna's time to grin as much as Emmett.

"Hey! What do you know? Eddie can really read minds." Luna announced, a wide grin stretched across her face.

"What did she say?" Bella asked her boyfriend.

"Nothing." Edward said.

"I said he looks constipated when he broods." Luna told them, her grin that is as wide as Emmett's still not faltering.

"No truer words have ever been spoken." Jasper said, an amused smile tugging on his lips.

"You too look constipated when you brood." Luna said, earning a scowl from her soulmate.

But you still look handsome, though. Luna thought.

"Seriously?" Edward complained when her mind spoke so loud.

"Stop reading my thoughts!" Luna said.

"Stop shouting your thoughts!" Edward argued.

"I would never shout how handsome Jasper is!" Luna suddenly yelled.

Awkward silence swallowed the whole living room after the unexpected words left Luna's mouth. A series of smirks and grins appeared on the faces of the Cullen's while Jasper bites his lip to prevent the smile forming on his lips.

Luna has her mouth hung open and her eyes rapidly blinking. She was too shocked about what happened. It's like her mouth had a mind of its own even though that doesn't make any sense. Because where would the mouth's brain be? Between her two front teeth?

Edward was beginning to jump into the conclusion that Luna escaped from a mental institution due to how her brain works. He can't help but let out a laugh at her thoughts.

"I would never shout how handsome Jasper is twice!" Luna rephrased, but soon realizes how dumb that actually she sounds.

"You just did." Jasper said.

"Nobody asked you!" Luna snarled with gritted teeth.

Jasper simply held his hands up in surrender with still a cheeky grin on his lips, while Bella and the rest of the Cullen's watch the two bicker with admiration.

Since Bella and the Cullen's skipped school that day to discuss the urgent matter, they decided to stay in for a while, let the nature that surrounds them give them soothing vibes. At least, that's what Luna was planning to do.

She was leaning on the balcony with her eyes closed, focusing on hearing the calming sound of nature and its inhabitants. How a squirrel would squeak. How a bird would flap its wings. How a frog would croak. Everything. It was oddly satisfying for the raven-haired girl.

All sound that she could hear was pure nature until one of pure beauty ringed her ears.

"Hey, Luna." Rosalie said as she stood on the doorway.

This made Luna whip her whole body towards the blonde vampire, seeing her standing there in a rather awkward manner.

"Hey?" Luna said, her tone implying that there's a question mark in the end, since Rosalie never really was one to come up to Luna. It's safe to say that Rosalie was the coldest among all the Cullen's.

"You're wondering why I'm talking to you on my own will." Rosalie guessed.

"Well, it's certainly not because you have a crush on me. But I would've crush you back as well." Luna joked, well, not entirely.

Rosalie's lips broke into a rare warm smile as she drops her gaze to the ground, feeling surprisingly shy.

"Right." Rose said. "I just wanted to talk to you about something." She added.

"As long as it's not about Jasper, or the fact that 'Diet Water' exists, then feel free." Luna answered.

Seriously, why would there be Diet Water? It's ridiculous. Luna thought.

Rosalie slowly approaches the raven-haired girl before leaning onto the balcony, Luna doing the same.

"I know about what your ex-boyfriend did to you. All of us know, actually." Rosalie said.

Luna felt her breath hitch in her throat and her heart sink in her chest. It took time before she managed to swallow the lump in her throat to finally reply to Rosalie.

"Of course, you do. You have vampire hearing which gives you lack of respect for privacy." Luna said, her voice spitting venom that Rosalie truly understands.

This was the last thing she wants to be talking about. She had moved to Forks. As much as it bothers her every day, she wants to move on from it. But it was easier said than done. And it was much more difficult when the people surrounding you already know.

"We were just worried. You're my brother's mate, after all." Rosalie said, or more like whispered.

"It's okay. Don't worry. No one's life is perfect anyway." Luna stated. Surprising as it is, Luna was in no mood to be a sarcastic bitch at the moment. This was a sensitive topic for her, yes. But she had a feeling that there was a specific reason that Rosalie came up to her about it before anyone could.

"Mine was." Rosalie responded, causing Luna to shift her golden eyes towards the blonde. "Absolutely perfect." She added.

Luna witnessed how Rosalie's eyes glinted with sadness despite saying that her life was perfect. She could also see how hesitant Rosalie is to continue what she meant by that.

"There were things I still wanted. To be married with a nice house and a husband to kiss me when I came home. A family of my own." Rosalie explained.

She noticed how her face held longingness. Like she was longing for what she just said. And based on what life she has now, she figured that she was longing for it because she never got it.

"Well, I don't know about you, but, my definition of family is me waking up beside my nineteen cats." Luna joked.

This puts a smile on the blonde's lips, actually appreciating Luna's attempt of lightening the mood to make it easy for her to continue telling her story.

"Royce King was the most eligible bachelor in town. I barely knew him. But I was young. I was in love with the idea of love. And that didn't turn out well for me." Rosalie said.

Luna watches Rosalie intently as the blonde swallowed hard, like she was readying herself for the main part of the story, the reason why she decided to tell Luna her story.

"On the last night of my life, I left a friend's house late. It wasn't far from home. I saw Royce with his friends, drunk as usual. If only I knew what was going to happen...If only I knew what they were planning to do to me..." Rosalie said.

Rosalie couldn't find it in her to say the words that would describe what they did to her. After all these years, she doesn't have the courage to blurt out the word without feeling physical pain. But despite Rosalie not saying the words, Luna already knows what she means, and she felt her heart drop to her stomach.

"They left me on the street, thinking I was dead. Believe me, I wanted to be." Rosalie stated. Luna couldn't help but look away because seeing how Rosalie tries to hide the pained expression on her face made Luna feel pain. Not emotionally, but rather physically. Like she could literally feel her heart sinking.

"Carlisle found me. He smelled all the blood. Thought he was helping me." She said, with Luna still looking away from her because she herself was tearing up.

"I got my revenge on them." Luna decides to look back at the blonde when she noticed her voice shifted from being faint, and she sees the hint of satisfaction in the way Rosalie's lips curled into a smirk and the way her eyes held triumph. "One at a time. Saved Royce for last so he'd know I was coming."

"I was a little theatrical back then." She mentioned.

"How come?" Luna asked, wanting to know more.

Rosalie turns her golden eyes towards the girl beside her before she responded.

"I was wearing my wedding dress. The same dress I wore for Royce and I's wedding." She answered.

The answer made Luna smile in amusement. "Well, damn." She said, a soft laugh coming out her lips, the same thing Rosalie did right after.

"I guess what I'm saying is, I know what you're feeling. And you can be damn sure I'll be there when you finally get your revenge on that asshole." Rosalie said.

The two simply smiled at each other before Rosalie took it upon herself to leave first, not wanting to let the moment become awkward.

But before Rosalie could exit the balcony, Luna spoke.

"Hey, Rose?" Luna called out, turning around at the same time Rosalie did. "Thank you. I could hug you, but I'm still not a hugger." She added.

Rosalie curls her lips into a smirk before she responded. "Neither am I."

And with that, the blonde exits the balcony, leaving Luna with the weight in her chest somehow lifted. Keeping what happened to her a secret was going on for far too long, she doesn't know she can handle it anymore.

She thought that she was saving herself from the pity that she would receive from other people that's why she never told anyone. But she never knew that it would give her somewhat peace. That it would give her strength rather than pain.

Rosalie experienced such a terrible thing, but she came back stronger than ever. If Rosalie could do it, what's stopping Luna from achieving that as well?

Starting that day, with Luna looking up to Rosalie, she decided to take on her problems one by one. And the honey-blonde vampire watching her from afar couldn't be prouder of his soulmate.
