JASPER AND LUNA SPENT WEEKS on Aurora's island, making the most of their honeymoon. They had done plenty of things. They went swimming, partying, singing, and there are some days where they just simply lie down on their bed, appreciating every second that passed by with the love of their lives beside them, of course, aside from making love with one another. It was a complete paradise.
It was saddening for Luna knowing that they had to leave, that they had to part from the island and Aurora, considering they've become really good friends. But Aurora told her that she could always meet anytime she wants. After all, they've got all the time in the world.
The married couple was once again back in Forks, with another problem they're trying to solve.
Time.
Months had gone by and Renesmee's continuous growth remained unprecedented and it was starting to plant anxieties on the family's head because of not knowing how long Renesmee would stay with them if she continues to age at a rapid pace.
Because of that, they have been doing everything that they want to do with the girl, making the most of every day that she's still with them so that when the time comes that she's gone, hopefully, they won't have any regrets. But still, they were wishing that that time never comes. That she'd stay with them forever.
Within the months that passed by, a few things had changed. Like how Jackie had figured out what her special ability is.
Apparently, she discovered that when she concentrated enough, a touch from her could lead to temporary numbness or paralysis. Which Jackie was proud of for only a few minutes before she realized that it was probably because of the numbness she forced herself to undergo back then every time that her former mother would remind her how she was a mistake, someone who should have never been born.
She was slightly bothered by it. She doesn't often use it but she practices using it every now and then. but she focused more on kicking ass than her actual powers.
Apart from that, Luna's eye color finally changed from crimson red to striking gold ones considering that it had been months since she had become a vampire so she's not a newborn anymore, as well as the fact that she maintained the animal blood diet despite having the urge to drink her niece's blood, or human blood in general, for that matter.
Still, Luna learned how to keep herself from breaking when she's in close proximity to Renesmee. Therefore, she was able to teach her how to play the guitar, like how Edward was teaching her how to play the piano. It was moments with Renesmee that Luna wished she wasn't a vampire, but a warm-blooded, breathing human being capable of giving birth to beautiful children.
But she knew, the moment that she lied on the hood of the car she borrowed from Paul, with her whole body covered with blood, her insides screaming in pain, and her eyes looking at the honey-blonde vampire holding her hand, that the chances of having her own children were completely off her plans for the future.
Though, she managed to get it off her head sometimes when she gets too invested in her usual ways. Like, for example, making fun of Edward and Jacob with the help of the girls, Rosalie, Valerie, Jackie, and Alice.
"You know, I miss my life before you three arrived. There was peace." Edward said, referring to Luna, Valerie, and Jackie who had influenced Alice and Rosalie to make fun of the bronze-haired vampire and his soon-to-be werewolf nephew.
"Well, I don't." Jackie said. "I went from ass-shaking cheerleader to ass-kicking queen. Talk about character development."
"And we love you for that." Alice said, intertwining her hand with her girlfriend's.
"Actually, everything went insane when she arrived." Jacob said as he pointed at Luna. "I thought I was aggressive. Then, I met Luna."
"You were not even aggressive, to begin with. Do you know Rex from Toy Story?" Luna said.
Jacob took a moment to recognize who Luna was talking about, and a certain green dinosaur toy came into his mind.
"Yeah, what about him?" He answered.
"That's you." Luna said as she casually laid her head on top of Valerie's lap and her legs on Jackie's. "You're supposed to be scary, but really, you're such a baby."
Jacob simply rolled his eyes at the grinning Luna while the rest of the girls snickered at Luna's statement. It was like Mockery 101. The four female vampires were watching Luna make fun of people and they were having so much fun learning.
Valerie got a glimpse of the clock and found it about to strike at 9 p.m., which caused the redhead to tap Luna's arm multiple times as she laid on her lap.
"Luna, the season finale!" Valerie exclaimed excitedly.
Luna widened her eyes and glanced at the clock before she jerked upright.
"Turn on the fucking TV!" Luna exclaimed at the top of her lungs, once again making everyone flinch at the ever-so-loud volume of her voice. The only difference was that this time, Luna heard herself and flinched as well.
"Oh my God, I do make people's ears ring." Luna murmured with her eyebrows shooting upwards.
The television turned on and Valerie immediately switched it to the CW channel where they are currently playing the season one finale of their favorite TV Show 'The Vampire Diaries'.
Luna thought the books were good, but when the very first episode aired, she couldn't help but wish she could sleep just so she could have dreams about the one and only Damon Salvatore.
"Geez, why do you two always get worked up when this show comes on?" Rosalie asked, furrowing her eyebrows as she watched the redhead and the dirty-blonde vampire excitedly watch in front of the TV.
"Rosie, look at that!" Luna said, pointing at the TV when it showed Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore.
Rosalie cocked an eyebrow before she rose from her seat and made her way next to Luna, Jackie scooched over to make room for her.
"Actually," Rosalie said as she moved over to Luna with her eyes not leaving the TV. "He looks really hot."
"I think we married the wrong vampires." Luna whispered towards Rosalie.
"I think we did." Rosalie agreed as she nodded.
Their gazes then snapped to the doorway when they heard Emmett's rather offended voice.
"We heard that." Emmett said.
They saw Emmett and Jasper standing at the doorway with their arms crossed against their chests and disgruntled expressions plastered across their faces.
Both Luna and Rosalie wore fake smiles as they tried to ease the offended waves of creases on their husbands' foreheads with a little bit of flattery.
"We were just joking, honey. You know I love you." Rosalie said.
"Yeah, of course we married the right ones!" Luna said, the fake smile on her face definitely not helping.
"Then come here and prove it." Jasper replied.
The two make vampires remained stood in the doorway, pouting with their arms crossed as they sought attention from their wives.
"But...we're watching." Luna said.
Jasper and Emmett didn't answer, nor did they move a muscle. They simply continued to stare and pout at Luna and Rosalie like the clingy husbands they are.
Luna couldn't help but turn to Rosalie as they make a quick conversation.
"Seriously, who are the girls in these relationships?" Luna asked Rosalie.
"They are."
"Makes sense."
Luna and Rosalie quickly got up from their seats and made their way towards their husbands before they could complain about what they just said, riddling them with flattery which both of the male vampires appreciated.
"At first, I was competing with a book character. Now, you can see him and all his...glory." Jasper said, a grimace planted on his face as he accompanied his wife in watching the show.
Luna softly laughed before planting a quick kiss on the honey-blonde vampire's lips.
"No one can ever compete with you, so stop pouting. I'm supposed to be the girl in this relationship, remember?" Luna said.
Jasper could only smile before kissing his wife's head, continuing to tolerate the show with her in his arms.
After forty-five minutes of Luna and Rosalie secretly drooling over Damon's exquisite form and drilling Elena with the most offensive insults Luna could think of, they were now simply relaxing in the living room. Bella and Jacob watched as Edward teach Renesmee piano, while the others listened as they nuzzle into the cuddles of their partners.
Valerie, on the other hand, could only watch as she realizes that each and everyone in the room already has the love of their lives in their presence. Hell, even Jacob. It's making her feel lonely. The last time she had felt what everyone was feeling at the moment was centuries ago. She may be alone now, but she hoped that someday, she'd find somebody that would make her feel alive.
The ambiance of the living room was calm and soothing for a while, with the sound of the melodic music from the piano, the warm smiles on each and everyone's faces, the sound of the fire crackling in the fireplace. It was relaxing, until the next sound they heard was a gasp and a vase shattering on the ground when Alice accidentally dropped it.
Everyone turned to Alice worriedly and they saw her gold eyes widened in horror with her mouth hanging ajar. Using her enhanced speed, Jackie got up from her seat and went towards Alice's side in a second.
"What's wrong?" Jackie asked as she caressed her arm gently.
Alice turned to Jackie with her eyes still holding concern and fear.
"The Volturi..." Alice said before averting her gaze to the others. "They're coming for us."
Valerie, Jasper, and Luna couldn't help but rise from their seats in concern. Jasper immediately grabbed Luna's hand, his protective side suddenly creeping in.
"Aro, Caius, Marcus, the Guard...and Irina." Alice said.
"Honey, come here." Bella muttered and gestured for her daughter to come to her.
Renesmee left Edward's side and towards her mother, Bella instantly wrapping her arms protectively around her.
"Why?" Carlisle asked.
"What did Irina see in the woods?" Edward asked.
"We were just walking." Bella answered before Jacob spoke up as well.
"Ness was catching snowflakes." Jacob added.
With Jacob's answer, Edward was able to figure out what this was all about, causing his confused expression to turn into an anxious and troubled one.
"Of course." Edward said, making everyone anticipate Edward's response. "Irina thinks Renesmee's an immortal child."
โโโ โ โโ โฆ โโ โ โโโ
"The Immortal Children were very beautiful. So enchanting. To be near them was to love them. But their development was frozen at the age that they were turned. They ojkdn't be taught or restrained. A single tantrum could destroy an entire village." Carlisle said.
Everyone, especially Jackie, Luna, and Bella listened intently as Carlisle told the story about the Denali's mother creating an immortal child.
"Humans heard about the devastation. Stories spread. The Volturi was forced to intervene." Carlisle said as a bunch of images Luna had created with her imagination flashed in her mind. "Since the children couldn't protect our secret, they had to be destroyed."
"Their creators grew very attached and fought to protect them. Long-established covens were torn apart. Countless humans were slaughtered. Traditions, friends, even families. Lost." He continued.
Luna glanced at her husband worriedly, making Jasper pull her closer, attempting to ease her nerves that he was sure she was feeling.
"So, the Denali's mother created an Immortal Child?" Bella asked.
"Yes, and she paid the price." Carlisle answered.
Luna couldn't help but imagine different, unpleasant scenarios running inside her head, making her feel even more anxious than she already was. She had never met the Volturi, but from the amount of fear that they could inflict upon people, she knew that they were someone no one wants to mess with.
"Well, Renesmee's nothing like those children. She was born not bitten, she grows every single day." Bella said.
"You think we don't know that?" Luna said, becoming agitated by the second.
"Can't you just explain that to the Volturi?" Jacob asked, hoping that this was enough to stir Renesmee out of harm's way.
"Aro has enough proof in Irina's thoughts." Edward responded.
There was a moment of silence in the room. What once was an ambiance with a calming feeling, now turned into a tensed one another huge problem is coming their way.
"So we fight." Jacob suggested.
"Their offensive weapons are too powerful. No one can stand against Jane." Jasper said, making Luna look at her husband with the same worried expression plastered across her face.
"Alec's even worse." Alice added.
"How come?" Jackie asked.
Everyone shared glances before Esme took it upon herself to explain.
"Jane can inflict mental illusion of burning pain while her twin brother Alec could paralyze the senses of anyone he chooses." Esme explained.
Luna couldn't help but gulp in nervousness, knowing that those two could even take them down alone.
"Well, I'm a copycat. I can use their powers against them." Luna suggested, trying to look confident albeit riddled with anxiety.
"That won't be possible." Valerie spoke up. "You need to touch them in order to do that. My guess is they wouldn't even let you get within ten feet of them without using their abilities."
"Well then we convince them." Bella said, growing more flustered.
"They're coming to kill us. Not to talk." Emmett chimed in.
Luna ran her hands through her hair as she groaned in frustration.
"I have had it with people trying to kill us. If we survive this, I'm gonna be the one planning murders next. I'll probably start with rapists." Luna said. Despite it sounding like a joke, Luna was actually serious.
"They won't listen to us. But maybe others can convince them." Edward said, getting back to the topic. "Carlisle, you have friends all around the world."
"I won't ask them to fight." Carlisle said with his arms crossed.
"Not fight. Witness. If enough people knew the truth, maybe we could convince the Volturi to listen." Edward explained.
"We can ask this of our friends." Esme said as she gently placed a hand on her husband's arm.
Carlisle stared at his wife before placing a hand over hers, nodding in response.
The plan was clear. Gather witnesses and face the Volturi to make them listen and convince them that Renesmee is far from the things Carlisle just described. Luna just hoped that it was enough to put all this behind them, instead of it putting them in a reunion with Jeremy and Hannah in hell.
