COMING BACK AFTER TAKING ALL the fresh air she desperately needed, Luna simply sat in the living room, reading a novel which she stole from Valerie.
While she sat alone on the couch on one of the many living rooms the Cullen house have, Jasper walked in with his hands inside his pockets, looking at his fiancรฉ rather hesitantly.
He knew that Luna wouldn't want to talk to him, or either of them, for that matter. But he couldn't stand Luna being mad at him any longer. He had to make things right with her.
"Selene, darlin'." Jasper called out.
Luna's eyes remained fixated on the book, reading the same sentence over and over again ever since Jasper entered the room.
When Luna didn't respond, Jasper took it upon himself to take a seat next to her, only for Luna to finally speak.
"What do you think you're doing?" Luna asked him, her gaze not a glare, but still stern.
Jasper straightened himself before he replied.
"I'm sitting down next to you." he answered.
"Well, you can't do that." Luna said, returning her eyes back to the book.
"Why not?" Jasper asked.
"Damon's sitting there." she replied, not looking away from the book.
Jasper furrowed his eyebrows at his soulmate's response, not knowing what or who she was talking about.
"And Damon is?" He asked.
"My fictional vampire boyfriend." Luna responded.
Jasper takes a quick look at the cover of the book she's reading and sees it is named 'The Vampire Diaries' by L.J. Smith. The honey-blonde vampire nodded in realization.
"Of course, he is." Jasper muttered.
He made his way towards Luna's other side, once again making a move to sit next to her only to be stopped once more.
"Stefan's there." Luna stated.
Jasper sighed in frustration as he straightened himself up, glancing at the dirty-blonde newborn.
"Who's Stefan, then?" He asked, an unamused expression playing on his face.
"Damon's brother. You'll love him. He's Mr. Broods-A-Lot, like Edward." Luna said casually, as if she's not noticing how annoyed Jasper was getting.
"If your fictional boyfriends don't make room for me, I'll sit on your lap." Jasper said, his arms crossed over against his chest.
The thought made Luna's anger towards Jasper decrease a little.
"That's actually not a bad idea." Luna whispered to herself, but of course, that whisper was perfectly clear to Jasper.
"Did you justโ" Jasper was about to mention what Luna just said until she interrupted him.
"No. I said Stefan just went out to catch a chipmunk to eat, so this side is free." Luna said, pointing casually at the side where she said Stefan was earlier.
Jasper took a seat next to her, the couch beneath her rising a little in his weight. He looked at Luna, who was still 'invested' in the book.
"You've been reading the same sentence over and over again, haven't you?" Jasper asked.
"I'm taking it all in." Luna responded.
Jasper simply watched his soulmate, her facial expression calm and unbothered, even though he could feel her feeling the complete opposite. Her emotions were all over the place, and as usual, she was good at hiding it.
"I'm sorry." He said after seconds of silence.
Luna still didn't spare her soulmate a glance and continued to read the same passage repeatedly.
"We're all just frantic about what's happening. This has never happened before. We didn't even know it was possible. I guess it's in our nature to think that when something is unknown, it's an automatic threat." Jasper explained.
Luna closed her book and finally looked at Jasper. She sets down the book on the table and turns her body directly towards him before she spoke.
"It may be a threat. I'm not denying that. I'm not blind, I can see how sick my sister is. I know she could die." Luna said.
"Then why are you still defending it?"
"Because it's a baby, Jazz." Luna told him, as if the word held so much weight. "I can't imagine a baby being so dangerous."
Jasper could see how a sad smile slowly crept into her lips as she proceeded to explain.
"When I think of babies, I see their cute button nose, their tiny hand wrapping around my finger, their small lips that are annoyingly wet from their disgusting, dripping saliva. When I think of babies, I see...pure innocence. And it's both annoying and beautiful." Luna explained.
Even though her eyes were staring right at Jasper's black ones (since he hasn't been hunting for a while), he could tell that the girl had wandered somewhere else. Like her vision took her somewhere, where she could see all of the things she was describing. And for a second, just for a mere second, he saw her eyes sparkle in admiration.
"It is." Jasper said.
Luna finally snapped out from whatever dimension she had floated into and glanced at Jasper, seeing the warm smile on his face that seemed to indicate that he understood what she was saying.
"You understand me?" She asked.
Jasper looked at her and for a moment, he felt sad that he couldn't give her what she admired, to build a family of her own. It was the only thing he couldn't give her, yet it was one of her most desired things to have for the future.
But Luna is fully aware that she can't have that anymore. She can't have a lot of things anymore now that she's become a vampire. There was only one thing left that she wanted that was still applicable, that was to marry the person she loves the most, that person being Jasper Whitlock Hale.
"I do." Jasper answered.
This made the dirty-blonde vampire smile at her soulmate before leaning on his shoulder as Jasper wrapped his arms around her.
"You want to lie down here?" he asked her.
"Nah. Damon's still here." Luna said.
Jasper couldn't help but shake his head and laugh at how Luna's mind works.

Everyone was gathered in the living room, silence swallowing them whole. It had been this way for a couple of minutes. But of course, the tranquility was broken by Luna Swan.
"I'm really hungry. Can someone hunt with me?" Luna said.
Jasper rose from his seat and approached his fiance.
"I'll come, darlin'." he said.
Jasper reached for her hand and he intertwined it with hers before they made their way towards the door until they heard Jacob come back and waltz into the room.
"We need to talk." Jacob immediately said, causing everyone to look at him in a tense manner.
"No, what we need is to sink our fangs in Alvin, Simon, and Theodore's necks, so, excuse us." Luna told Jacob before she pulled Jasper as they walk around Jacob.
"That's the thing." Jacob said. "You can't."
Carlisle, Edward, Jasper, Luna, Esme, and Emmett gathered in another room as Jacob told them what he found out.
"Sam's lost the element of surprise and he doesn't want to take you on outnumbered. So, he's not gonna come at you head-on. He's got the place surrounded and he'll wait for his opportunity." Jacob informed them.
Everyone in the room wore worried expressions as another bad news was stacked on top of their rather large pile of bad news.
"We won't get through without a fight." Emmett stated.
Carlisle glanced at his adopted son. "No fights. We won't be the ones to break the treaty."
"The treaty is void, at least in Sam's mind." Jacob said.
"Not in ours." Esme responded.
Emmett stepped towards Carlisle, a thought in his head that had him worried.
"Carlisle, no one's hunted for weeks." Emmett said.
It was true. Which is why everyone's eyes had turned black instead of their usual gold ones. Luna's eyes were still crimson red considering there was still little of her own blood inside her, but she could feel it slowly slipping away already, which caused her to be very hungry at the moment.
"We'll make do." Esme replied.
Luna furrowed her eyebrows, frustration taking over her expression.
"So, what? We're in vampire quarantine?" Luna said, clearly irritated.
"Seems so." Jasper answered, his voice as irritated as hers considering that he wasn't really the best at controlling his thirst.
"Everything's going to be fine." Edward told them.
"Your mouth says 'fine'. But your pitch-black eyes say 'I need fucking Bambi's blood down my throat'." Luna retorted.
Carlisle sighed before he turned his attention back to Jacob.
"You've done us a great service, Jacob. Thank you." Carlisle told him.
The bad-news-bearing meeting had finally ended and the engaged couple couldn't be any more on edge. Jasper's still new on the whole vegetarian diet and Luna's still a newborn with more time needed to practice controlling her thirst.
Luna had called her dad, informing him that he'll be staying over at the Cullens' for a couple of days considering that she can't exactly go out without being slaughtered by the shapeshifters. Luckily, Charlie had the company of Billy and Sue, making Luna feel less guilty for leaving her dad.
Days passed agonizingly slow. Each day was like a wall of fire that they had to overcome because of the thirst that was keeping them from thinking straight. Then adding Bella, whose body was literally being crushed from the inside out, making it difficult for the others to accept the baby.
Everyone has been researching about what the baby could be. Why it is strong, why it is fast-growing, and how they could deliver the baby without losing the life of a family member.
These past few days, it had been the most difficult state Luna's been in. Being a newborn in this circumstance was not ideal. Everyone was actually surprised that Luna's still able to keep herself together. Though, Luna had distanced herself from Jackie. She doesn't trust herself enough around her. She didn't want to do anything that could endanger the human's well-being.
Jasper was no help to Luna either. With his thirst as strong as hers, he would always catch himself simply sitting still and staring blankly at the wall to keep himself from thinking of anything else that would set him off. Watching television with Emmett was helping a little, but it wasn't enough to completely block out his desire to feed.
At the moment, everyone was gathered in the living room, as quiet as ever. The only noise was coming from the football game playing on the TV which Emmett, Jasper, and Luna had invested themselves in as a way to keep themselves from focusing on their thirst.
Valerie was the least suffering vampire in the group. Yes, she was thirsty, but she wasn't thirsty enough to be thinking about sinking her fangs into Jackie like everyone else was thinking and fighting. It had something to do with what she had gone through. But even so, she was still suffering considering her strength was slowly decreasing.
Every now and then, Luna would glance at her sister, seeing how her bones were protruding against her flesh, her cheekbones and eye sockets becoming more evident, and her skin becoming even more grey by the day.
"You cold?" Edward asked when he saw her tugging on the sleeves of her cardigan.
Bella simply nodded. Jacob, who was sitting on the same couch Bella was lying on spoke up.
"I got it." Jacob said, scooting over to Bella to offer his warmth.
Bella smiled at Jacob, though it wasn't a smile that Luna was fond of. For her, it just showed how weak she really had gotten.
"Don't do that." Jacob said.
"What?" Bella muttered.
"Smile like I'm your favorite person in the world." he answered.
Another weak smile tugged on Bella's lips with her eyes still remained closed.
"You're one of them. Everything feels complete when you're here, Jake." Bella mumbled.
After a second, Bella started to groan and struggle slightly, causing her to weakly sit up. Edward immediately grabbed a bucket, placing it in front of Bella for her to vomit in, but it turned out that Bella had nothing else to vomit.
Everyone turned to look at Bella, seeing her struggle as a few whimpers escaped her mouth. Luna couldn't be more worried for her sister, and Jasper could sense it, causing him to reach for her hand and squeeze it gently.
"We need to find a way to get some food in her system." Esme told them.
Bella lied back on the couch with a sigh as Alice spoke.
"If I could only see the fetus..." Alice said, but Rosalie cuts in.
"Baby." Rose said before Alice continued.
"...maybe I could figure out what it wants." she said.
Everyone simply looked away, thinking of a way, any way, to make this situation at least a little bit better for either of them.
"I think you might be right." Edward suddenly said, his gaze on Jacob.
"Jacob just had an idea." he added.
Jacob scoffed at the statement before he replied.
"It wasn't an idea, it was a snide comment." Jacob responded.
"What were you thinking?" Valerie asked.
"That he's probably just looking for someone to sink his teeth into." He answered.
"I'm definitely not gonna be that someone." Jackie said, lightening up the mood with a joke but none of them were in a joking mood.
Emmett, Alice, Jasper, and Luna couldn't help but feel uneasy. That exact statement described the feeling they were experiencing at the moment and hearing it out loud did not help.
"He's thirsty." Bella said.
"I know the feeling." Emmett said.
Luna, who was sitting between Jasper and Emmett, glanced at Emmett before rubbing his arm in an attempt to comfort him.
"If it's craving, he's not gonna want animal blood." Edward said.
"I have some O negative liters out for Bella." Carlisle said.
The engaged couple suddenly whipped their heads towards Carlisle, hearing that only made it difficult for them to fight the thirst. Luna gulped before standing up and gently tugged on Jasper's hand while she used her other hand to turn his head towards her.
"Baby, let's go upstairs and maybe sing a few songs." Luna said softly.
Jasper's face was hardened and it was clear that he was having a hard time keeping himself together. He nodded at Luna's words, his face not softening before he stood up and the two went upstairs to get away from the scene.
"You okay?" Luna asked him.
Jasper glanced at his fiance before turning his body directly towards her and wrapping his arms around her waist.
"I should be the one taking care of you." he said.
Luna sighed as she rests her hands on the back of his neck.
"Well, I wanted to marry RDJ, but I guess we don't always get what we want." Luna said.
Jasper smiles before resting his forehead against hers. The two swam in silence, slightly swaying before the honey-blonde vampire spoke again.
"Sing for me, please." He whispered.
Luna pulled away and smiled at her soulmate before pulling him gently towards the piano that they have in their room.
Jasper sat first before the piano, opening the lid to reveal the white and black keys. Luna sat next to him, looking at him before Jasper started to play.
At first, Luna was unfamiliar with the tune. She lets Jasper play further then she finally recognized the tune and sang along.
"Remember in the winter," Luna sang, her soulmate's fingers pressing the keys of the piano ever-so-lightly as if it were feathers.
"Far beneath a bitter snows."
Jasper watched his fiancรฉ with a small, soothed smile lingering on his face due to the angelic sound that was Luna's voice.
"Lies the seed, that with the sun's love."
Her voice resonated in the room, or the whole house, for that matter. It was the very thing that gave life to the rather dull and depressing house.
"In the spring, becomes the rose."
The song finished and Luna leaned on Jasper's shoulder, closing her eyes to ket herself relax in the presence of her soulmate as he placed his arm around her, caressing her arm lovingly before placing a kiss on her head.
