"WHO'S VICTORIA?" Luna asked.
The Cullens abruptly left the cafeteria, dragging the Swan twins with them as they went occupy one of the many empty classrooms. Much to Luna's dismay, she was forced to eat her lunch in the History classroom.
"James's mate. You knowโ" Emmett said but Luna took it upon herself to finish the sentence.
"The psychotic vampire that lured my stupid sister into a trap and tried to kill her." Luna said in realization.
Bella shot her an annoyed look. "That's what he used to do, Luna. He tricks people."
"Then I ain't 'people'." Luna casually said before taking a bite from her cheeseburger. She was referring to how she was not easily fooled by people. However, the thought of the only person who successfully tricked her, whose name shall no longer be stated but it starts with the letter H, made her both furious and feel like her throat is closing up.
Rosalie remained as grim as ever while she crossed her arms and looked at her bronze-haired adoptive brother.
"She's Victoria's sister?" Rosalie asked.
"Does she know where Victoria is?" Alice asked after Rosalie.
"Yes, she's her sister, and no, Alice. She actually came to look for Victoria." Edward answered.
Jasper crosses his arms as his eyes narrowed at Edward. "Why?" He asked.
"There was only so much I could read." The bronze-haired vampire replied.
"If she's the new history teacher and she arrived just now, does that mean Jazz and I would be meeting her first?" Luna said.
Despite being so calm and just casually eating her shawarma, Luna couldn't help but overthink the situation. Jeremy is missing and is possibly turned into a vampire. A new vampire in town and she's sisters with the mate of the vampire that tried to kill Luna's twin sister.
She stood there pretending to be unbothered. After all, she is good at hiding. Though, not that good enough. Because there's a little hiccup that everyone likes to call Edward Cullen.
Edward looked at the raven-haired girl and she met his gaze. The two just exchanged glances as another thought came to Luna's mind.
I'm okay, Eddie.
Edward didn't believe her. Not even the slightest. But he was in no position to grill her about going back to pretending again. He was a friend. A brother even to her. And he understands why Luna would spiral back into hiding things from them.
"Does she have the same scent as the vampire in the forest?" Luna asked as an attempt to not notice the suspicious glance that she and Edward shared.
Jasper flickered his gaze between Edward and Luna before he answered.
"No. She's a different one." Jasper answered.
Just right after Jasper spoke, the sound of the bell ringing echoed throughout the empty hallways of the school and soon, a swarm of students was out the cafeteria doors.
The dissatisfaction was to be clearly seen in all their faces. The scoffs that left their mouths were almost simultaneous. It was obvious that neither of them was in the mood for school. Though, it wasn't exactly new to Luna. She never liked school. She just liked hanging around with the people she can tolerate. And right now, those people are her sister and the Cullens. Angel, Jessica, Mike, and Eric are nearing that phase as well.
"Contrary to popular belief, we are apparently not saved by the bell. See you bloodsuckers after school." Luna said.
Edward, Bella, and Rose gave Luna a playful roll of their eyes while Emmett, Alice, and Jasper simply smiled at the girl.
Considering that Luna's schedule after lunch was History class together with Jasper, the others exited the room just as their classmates went in to fill in their assigned seats.
Jasper gestured for Luna to walk with him towards their seats and Luna agreed as he leads them. The two sat on their respective seats which were where it had always been, next to each other.
"You okay?" Jasper asked his soulmate.
Luna swiftly glances at the honey-blonde vampire before looking away again.
"Yeah. You?" She asked back rather awkwardly.
What's happening to me? Luna thought. She wasn't the type to get awkward because a boy asked her if she was okay. But then again, he's just not any guy. He's a vampire. Moreover, he's Jasper Hale. That sort of explains it, right?
"If you're okay, then I'm okay." He said, an almost unnoticeable smile tugging on his lips.
Luna herself smiled slightly at the honey blonde's affectionate gesture. But both their smiles were wiped off their faces when their new History teacher strutted her way inside the classroom. Just the clicks of her heels were enough to make the couple figure out who was about to walk in.
She was just like how Luna remembered her. Her blazing red hair was bouncing ever-so-lightly against her back and arms. Her full and glossy red lips were stretched into a smile. Her red-painted nails made Luna think about she's so sure she had clawed someone's face off with it. Her skin was as pale as the Cullens'. But what intrigued her was the color of her eyes.
It was light brown, unlike vampires' usual eye colors which were red, golden brown, and black. Perhaps she was wearing contacts.
"Well, look how excited you guys are for History." The redhead vampire said.
Luna averted her eyes from the vampire and glances around the room. And she sees what the vampire meant. Each and everyone in the class was gawking at her. Like she's some kind of ginger goddess and they are ready to worship at her feet.
Luna and Jasper were the only ones staring at the woman with suspicious glares. That amused the redhead.
"My name's Valerie and I will be your substitute teacher for History class." Said the redhead--Valerie.
Her light brown eyes looked straight into Jasper's golden ones, and Luna could've sworn the woman's mood became lighter at the sight of the honey-blonde vampire.
"We're gonna have so much fun together." Said Valerie, which was supposed to be towards the whole class, but the way she looked at Jasper, it felt like she was really meant it towards him.
Which Luna did not like one bit.
The raven-haired girl raised her eyebrows at the redhead as she flickered her gaze between her and Jasper. The look Valerie was giving Jasper made him uncomfortable, but at the same time, his gaze was still intense every time their eyes would meet. Just like Luna, Jasper didn't like the way the redhead looking at her.
"2 seconds more and you'll probably melt in her gaze." Luna mumbled under her breath as she refers to how Valerie would stare at the honey-blonde.
Jasper looks at Luna to see her glancing down at her notebook while the drawing random things with her grip on the pencil tight.
Luna's response only made the redhead smirk.
"Let's get started, shall we?" She said before proceeding with the discussion.

That one whole hour with Valerie yapping about history stuff was already unendurable enough. But then, she added the long stares towards Jasper and it made everything even worse.
When the bell rang for the next class, everyone took their time to get out of their seats which was an unusual occurrence since everyone always wanted to run out of class before they die of boredom.
But that's not the case today, and Valerie has a large contribution to that. Everything about her allured people so much that they almost wanted to stay there and never leave. Thankfully, they did.
Just as all their classmates went out of the room, Jasper closes the door before the next group of students could come in for their class. Luna stood just in front of the teacher's desk while Valerie looks up at her from her desk chair.
"Oh hi, Luna. What can I help you with?" Valerie asked as innocent as possible.
"Cut the bullshit." Luna said just as Jasper joined her side.
"Why are you here?" Jasper asked.
Valerie's light brown eyes averted from Luna to Jasper and the smile from Valerie's face widened.
"Jazz." She said as if she would break out in a musical number because of how she said his name. "I'm sure you already know from your mind-reading friend."
Luna sees how Valerie looks at her soulmate which fueled the anger inside her even more, allowing Jasper to sense the wave of fury building up in her.
"Okay, Lady Bug. Another question then. Why are you looking for Victoria." Luna asked.
Valerie couldn't help but narrow her eyes at the raven-haired girl because of the nickname that she gave her.
"She left me before I turned. Been searching for her for centuries and this is the closest that I've been to finding her. Does that answer your question, Skunk?" Said Valerie.
Luna raised an eyebrow at the nickname as Jasper stepped in to defend his soulmate.
"Don't talk to her like that." Jasper said rather angrily.
Valerie flickered her gaze between Luna and Jasper before she stands up from her seat.
"Right. She's your mate." Valerie said with obvious disgust.
"Soulmate." Luna clarified. Jasper couldn't help but side-glance the raven-haired girl. He was sensing a feeling inside her that he hadn't felt from her before. And he doesn't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing.
"Fine. Soulmate." Valerie said with a roll of her eyes. "I don't seek any trouble. All I want is my sister..."
Her gaze flickered once again to Jasper before she continued. "...and I, together with Victoria, will be out of your silky honey-blonde hair."
Valerie said once again in an admiring voice that almost made Luna scoff.
"Now, would you be so kind as to leave the classroom? I have another class to teach." Said Valerie.
Jasper and Luna took one last glare at the redhead before heading out the door just as the wave eager students rush in the classroom like they're meeting a celebrity.

After school, Luna and Alice went to the car park with each other's company since they had their last subject together. They saw the rest of the Cullens and Bella standing between the silver Volvo and the red convertible that stood out in the parking lot.
"Hey, bloodsuckers." Luna greeted.
"Lower your voice." Edward warned her. The girl scoffs before answering.
"Okay, dad." She said, earning an eye roll from Edward.
"Did you have a talk with Valerie?" Edward asked Jasper.
Before Jasper could answer, Luna decided to chime in with a questionable motive.
"Why are you asking him? Didn't you think that maybe I talked to her as well?" Luna said in an intense manner.
"Woah, easy there, kitty. Why are you so grumpy?" Emmett said with his arms crossed against his chest.
"Because she annoys me! She's like a modern she-devil. I hate her perfectly curled and silky red hair. I hate her full, glossy red-tinted lips. I hate her flawless pale skin. I hate the way she looks at my cowboy. I hate them all!" Luna ranted, letting out her frustration after keeping it in class after class. Only then did Luna realized what she just said.
Jasper felt the smile on his lips begin to widen as he looks down on the ground sheepishly.
"What are you smiling about?" Luna asked Jasper as the others watched the exchange in amusement. Who needs a television when they have these two?
"Selene..." Jasper said as he looks up from the ground and towards her. "Are you jealous?" He asked.
Luna was caught off guard by Jasper's question. Was she? Was she jealous of the way Valerie looked at Jasper as if he's a human she wants to suck dry.
"Are you a donkey?" Luna said immediately when she quickly recovered from being caught off guard.
"Definitely not."
"That's my answer to your question."
Jasper could only shake his head. The others had climbed into their cars. Edward and Bella in the silver Volvo, and Rosalie, Emmett, and Alice in the red convertible. Luna thought that she and Jasper will be going with either of them but she couldn't be more wrong.
"Can I?" Jasper asked, referring to her hand, if he could hold it like he does every time.
"You don't have to ask all the time, you know?" She replied as she placed her hand in Jasper's.
"I just want to." Jasper said, his soft gaze almost making Luna weak in the knees.
"Come on, my motorcycle's right there." He said.
The statement made Luna's eyes widen.
"A motorcycle?!" Luna exclaimed excitedly, too excitedly, unfortunately. Because now the students in the car park are looking at her and Jasper.
"You want me to pluck your eyes out one by one?!" Luna shouted at the students.
Knowing Luna's reputation, the students hurriedly turned back their attentions to their own businesses as Jasper chuckled slightly.
"Guess I won't be worried about being jealous." Jasper said.
Luna looks at him with narrowed eyes. "Why is that?"
"People would be too scared to approach you." Jasper answered and Luna only shrugged in agreement.
The two stood beside the stunning black motorcycle as Jasper handed Luna a helmet.
"By the way, I think you should spend some time with your mom in Phoenix. Bella will be going this weekend." Jasper told her, not mentioning the fact that they will be hunting down Victoria.
While they were waiting for Alice, Bella, and Luna to arrive, Edward had told his adoptive siblings about the vision that Alice had. They plan to catch her this weekend, even with the help of Valerie.
"Why?" Luna asked.
"You know, just some quality time together." Jasper casually answered. But it only took Luna a second before she realized that he's hiding something.
The raven-haired girl placed the helmet back on the leather seat of the motorcycle before she looks at Jasper rather intensely.
"Spill." She said.
Jasper sighs deeply before telling his soulmate the truth.
"Alice had a vision of Victoria. We plan on catching her and Edward thinks it's a good idea that Valerie should help." Jasper said.
Luna clenches her fists at the thought of Valerie joining them. And the fact that they're sending her and her sister away while they hunt for Victoria.
"You're sending me away but you're including Valerie?" Luna said, unamused by the whole idea.
"I told Edward it was stupid. But he insisted, saying that there's something about her that would be of great use to us." Jasper replied.
Luna crosses her arms against her chest, thinking over all the possible scenarios that could happen, both good and bad, both best case and worst case.
"I'm not going to Phoenix." Luna said, the tone of her voice indicating that she won't change her mind.
"Selene, it's for your own protection." Jasper reasoned with her.
"The last place I want to be is in the city that ruined my life. I'm not going back there. I can't." Luna said, her voice different from before.
This one held sadness and fear. Not the usual tough-sounding voice of hers that makes everyone want to run the opposite direction from her. She was telling the truth. She can't go back there. She doesn't think she has the courage to do so.
Despite the countless good memories that Luna had in Phoenix, that big dark one set all of it to flames. Now, all she could think of when she sees, hears, or think of Phoenix, Arizona, is that one night where everything crashed and burned.
"Okay. You don't have to." Jasper told her, his voice soft.
Luna pushes her lips into a thin line to prevent the smile from spreading on her lips as she lowered her head.
"Let's go. I have dinner with Bella and daddy." Luna told Jasper.
Jasper takes the helmet and gently places it on Luna's head. Now, Luna couldn't help the smile that stretched onto her lips. These little things that Jasper is doing for her are making her feel special. And no one has done that for her in a long while.
Perhaps they were right. That there would always be a rainbow after the rain. Right now, Luna is at least 88โ sure that her rainbow is none other than Jasper Hale.
