THE DAY LUNA HAD WITH JASPER THE OTHER DAY was probably the most soothing one she had in a long time. Well, that was until she got home and Jasper called to tell her that Jeremy is missing. His body is missing from the woods and the Cullens tried to follow the stench of this unfamiliar vampire until it was abruptly lost.

After Charlie's meeting with the state police of Arizona, they were able to arrest Hannah Roman for six years and they plan to arrest Jeremy Nolan for seven. However, no one has ever been able to contact the young man. The baseball team that he went with to the retreat has no idea where he is, nor does his parents.

And Charlie, the police, as well as the Cullens, have been searching for him non-stop.

"Where could this bastard be?" Charlie whispered as he sat in the living room with his raven-haired daughter.

"Hopefully, rotting in hell and crying for his momma." Luna muttered, which was loud enough for Charlie to hear.

"No, he doesn't get to escape me that easily." Charlie replied, clenching Jeremy's file in his hand before throwing it back on the table in a frustrated manner.

"This is messed up." Charlie sighed as he leans back on the couch, burying his face into his palms.

"Hey, I said Jeremy's crying, not you." Luna joked.

Charlie gives his daughter a serious look and that's when Luna dropped her usual sarcastic self.

"Okay, I'm sorry, daddy. I just-" Luna sighed deeply. "I was just used to pretending everything's okay." She added.

Charlie looked at his daughter softly before responding.

"Everything will be okay." Charlie told her, and it finally put a genuine smile on Luna's face. It was relieving to finally have her father included in this.

Luna trusts no one more than Charlie. And she knows he isn't going to let her down. He never has, even though he and her mom got divorced. Which is part of the reason why she doesn't like her mom's new husband, Phil. She only wanted Charlie. And the fact that Phil is a baseball player certainly didn't help.

The front door then opened and it revealed her twin sister. She plummeted to the spot next to Luna with a small smile on her face. Charlie looked to the side to glance at the clock before looking back at his other daughter.

"Four o'clock on the dot. That kid trying to brown-nose me now or something?" Charlie said, earning an amused grin from Luna.

She always enjoyed how Edward annoys her father.

Bella smiles and lightly shakes her head before she replied.

"He has a name. And now he's too punctual for you?" Bella said.

A chuckle leaves Luna's lips before she chimed in the conversation.

"Oh, come on. Daddy always finds a way to grill Edward." Luna told Bella. Then she turns her gaze towards her dad. "Don't worry, daddy. Eddie is a good boy. I give him treats and everything. Yesterday, I was teaching him how to say 'Luna's the most amazing person ever' and he held up his middle finger. He was becoming like me. I gave him a reward." She added, a triumphant smile planted on her lips.

"That did not help at all." Charlie said as he shakes his head.

Luna's gaze snapped towards her phone when it vibrated in her hand. She took a quick look to find Jasper's name on the screen. A small smile tugged on her lips before she jumped out of the couch.

"I'm just gonna go to my room while you guys...talk, I guess." Luna said before she runs up the stairs and towards her bedroom.

She closes her bedroom door and once she turned around, she was greeted by a gorgeous honey-blonde being standing in the middle of her room.

"Jesus! Can you stop doing that?" Luna said, causing Jasper to grin like a lovestruck idiot.

"Didn't mean to startle you, darlin'." Jasper said.

Luna rolls her eyes before walking past him and letting herself fall onto her bed.

"There you go again with calling me 'darling'." Luna said.

Jasper takes his hands out of his pockets as he gracefully falls to the bed next to Luna.

"I like calling you 'darlin'." Jasper commented.

"Yeah, and how you like calling me 'Selene'." Luna said.

"It's a beautiful name."

"Perhaps."

A long pause happened the two were just staring blankly at Luna's white bedroom ceiling. Their arms were brushing against each other but it didn't bother Luna much nor did it bother Jasper. Luna trusts Jasper. She knows that he would rather let himself die than force her to do something she didn't want. He literally said that just yesterday.

The silence between them was broken when Luna decided to speak up.

"Any news about Jeremy?" Luna asked.

Jasper's mood suddenly turned dark. A mere mention of the bastard's name was enough to make Jasper want to punch through a dam, not that it would help him or the people surrounding the area at all. It was just that, he was so furious since he thought he already took care of the boy. Now, he's somewhere walking freely, or possibly still dead and was just hidden by someone.

"Still no sign of him." He replied.

Luna opens her mouth to respond but a knock on the door made Jasper disappear from her side and into her closet the next second.

The raven-haired girl sits up from her bed just as Bella walks into her bedroom.

"Hey." Bella said.

"Hey." Luna greeted back.

Bella was fiddling with her fingers as if she was shy or nervous about what she was going to say.

"You remember Jacob, right?" She asked.

Luna thought for a moment before an image of a little boy popped into her mind.

"Mudboy, yeah! Haven't seen him in ages but I do hear a thing or two about him from Jazz." Luna said, a teasing smile appearing on her lips, and Bella couldn't help but giggle.

"Yeah, him. I'm planning on visiting him later. Do you maybe want to come with me?" she asked.

Luna furrows her eyebrows as she narrows her eyes at Bella.

"Isn't he a werewolf?" Luna asked.

"Well, yeah-"

"Then, I'm in!" Luna exclaimed.

Jasper, who was still hiding in the closet, frowned at his soulmate's overly enthusiastic answer.

"Great. We'll go at night." Bella said. She pauses for a bit and looks around her sister's room. "Bye Jasper." She said.

Luna widens her eyes at her sister and slowly, Jasper steps out of the closet with a slightly sheepish smile on his lips.

"Bye, Bella." He simply replied.

Bella could only laugh and shake her head before she heads out of the room, leaving Luna and Jasper to themselves again.

"You are not going to the reservation." Jasper told his soulmate.

"You're not the boss of me, cowboy." Luna told him before turning around to find an outfit for tonight.

Jasper rolls his eyes at the nickname. "Please stop calling me cowboy."

Luna abruptly stops and turns around to face the honey-blonde with her eyes narrowed. The girl was about to open her mouth but Jasper felt Luna's need to shout so he beats her to it.

"Okay, okay, fine! I'm cowboy. Just...stop shouting. It makes my ears ring." He said with a frustrated expression.

"That's my cowboy." Luna said with a fake Texan accent, making Jasper shake his head and try to suppress the smile forming.

"Now, get out. I need some rest if I'm gonna go to the werewolves' den tonight." She said.

Jasper sighs and looks down to the ground. "I can't convince you can I?"

Luna tilts her head as she looks at her soulmate. "Not even if you have shawarma."

Then she thought for a moment. "Actually, shawarma could really persuade me." She said.

"Then, I'll buy one now." Jasper said and was about to jump out of the window when Luna grabs her arm.

"Jazz." Luna said with her soft voice, something that he barely hears. It caused him to look at her in such a delicate manner, as if an intense stare would break her.

"I'm going to the reservation." She tells him.

Jasper closes his eyes and sighs deeply. He unfolds his eyelids and stares right into her eyes before he responded.

"Just be careful, okay?" he said.

"They're just a bunch of dogs. I can handle them." Luna replied.

Jasper smiled before turning around to climb out the window.

"Farewell, ma'am." Jasper teased as he sat on the window sill.

"Farewell, cowboy." Luna replied while she imitated Jasper's accent.

Jasper grimaced at how her faux accent turned out. "You really need to work on-"

"Oh, just get out." Luna said before pushing the honey-blonde vampire out the window and landed perfectly on his two feet.

Luna looks out the window to see Jasper playfully glaring at her from below.

"I can't believe you pushed me out the window." Jasper muttered under his breath, knowing that Luna could hear him because of the enhanced hearing that he shares with her.

"It was really fun." Luna said before closing the window.

Jasper smiles at where he last saw his soulmate before speeding away and back to his house.

After being busted by Edward, Bella and Luna went back to their house with Luna's stomps supposed to annoy the bronze-haired vampire.

Luna was actually really excited to meet Jacob and the pack. Not only because she gets to hang out with them, but also because she gets to escape her routine for the past two nights.

The raven-haired girl stares at herself in the mirror, like she always does before she goes to bed. Her gaze drops down to her stomach and she instinctively places a hand over it.

Her other hand made its way to cover her mouth to try and stop the sobs from erupting from her throat. But she failed the cries came out muffled as her hand stayed where it is.

Tears streamed down her face as a series of whimpers resonated in her room. She could feel her heart clenching, like it was being squeezed by someone and it was not helping at all.

She turns her golden eyes towards the window of her room and slowly makes her way over it. She knew Jasper could feel what she's feeling right now. And as much as she enjoys his company, she wanted to be alone.

She turned the lock of the window before she made her way to her bed, pulling the blanket over her whole body.

She hugged the pillow next to her and buried her face in it as she cried louder and harder. The sound of her muffled sobs were the only ones to be heard in her room as she slowly cried herself to sleep.

All Jasper could do was sit outside and listen to her cries, just like he had been doing for the past two nights. Hearing his soulmate's sobs were the most heartbreaking sound he's ever heard.

He knew she wasn't gonna always happy. He knew she wasn't always going to be smiling. She had been through such a dark past, and she's bound to spiral back into her depressed state.

Luna was broken. Damaged, even. But that's what Jasper is here for. What the Cullens are here for. What her family is here for. They're here for her. To comfort her. To help her heal. To help her smile sincerely again. To help her thrive after a tragic incident.

Jasper just wished that they would be able to do all those before Luna could not take it anymore and decided to give up.

Needed to publish this now because I won't be able to later. I didn't want to dump a lot of info in the first chapter of act two since I want it to flow smoothly before everything goes to shit.

Anyway, the sneak peeks for the next chapter is now posted on Luna's Instagram. Go check it out to get a little glimpse of what'll happen in the next chapter :))
