1.6 | The New Kicker

Season One, Episode Four
Preggers

──────────❝ 🎵 ❞──────────

Arden Schuester was feeling like a whole new person in the halls of McKinley High, she would smile and greet each member of the Glee Club as she passed them along with the Cheerios and Football Team. The blonde had friends everywhere within the school, something that shocked her but it gave her a chance to forget about the new changes happening within her own home. Since Terri had announced her pregnancy, Will had subconsciously pulled away from Arden to tend to his wife and their future baby.

However, the few things that confused Arden was the way Terri acted sometimes, it seemed like she was constantly paranoid but Arden brushed it aside knowing better than to make accusations. That would only end in the result of arguments between the family that would cause stress and Arden wasn't stupid, she would be the one blamed no matter how much her father loved her; he had a habit of forgetting that despite being old enough to look after herself, that she still required a parent to care for her.

So knowing that she had friends around her to bring a smile to her face meant more to her than they all realised. Arden and Finn had grown to be best friends in the few weeks they had now been friends, talking about their favourite music and movies while also hanging out with others like Puck who seemed to have grown a fondness for Arden along with Mike and Matt who often walked with the blonde through the halls talking about whatever is on their minds. Arden's invisible status had been replaced by a presence suddenly adored and it made her happy.

The New Directions were sitting in the Choir Room, Arden sitting in her usual spot on the piano with her journal in her lap. Mr Schue hands the students their sheet music for their rehearsals, he placed one next to Arden who looked up and smiled slightly looking at the piano keys for it. "E--Excuse me. This--This isn't the right key," Rachel expresses in confusion, her eyes watching Mr Schue. "It's actually the right key," Mr Schue replied with a nod. "This is the alto part," Rachel told him. "Yep. Tina's doing the solo," Mr Schue informed her and Tina beams at that, Arden grinning as her father took her advice.

"I'm... I'm sorry. There must be some sort of mix-up. I thought I made it very clear that anything from West Side Story goes to me. Maria is my part. Natalie Wood was a Jew, you know. I've had a very deep, personal connection to this role since the age of one," Rachel rambled on with determination and narcissism. Arden rolled her eyes, it was one song and one high school performance, why did it matter so much? Arden knew this was only the beginning of Rachel spotlight demands and the blonde wished she had the confidence to stand up to the brunette to knock her down a few pegs. One day, Arden thought to herself with a small smile.

"Well, I'm trying to shake things up a bit, get us out of our boxes," Mr Schue replied to her while glancing back at Arden who nodded in agreement giving Rachel the answer she wanted; Arden was behind the decision. "You're trying to punish me," Rachel told Mr Schue furiously, her glare moving from Arden to Mr Schue. "I think you're being irrational," Mr Schue replied to her. "I think you're being unfair," Rachel snapped back at him. "I think you're being unfair to Tina, who might have been happy about getting her first solo," Mr Schue argued back while Tina smiled, though it wasn't as bright as it was before.

"Tina knows how much I respect her and I think she would agree with me, that's she's not ready for such an iconic role as Maria," Rachel expressed making Tina's smile fall, Arden's usual happy expression dropped into a glare that no one had seen before, she was resenting Rachel's attitude; it wasn't the damn Rachel Berry show. "Wait, I'm a Jet?" Mercedes asked in offense, Arden huffed a breath in irritation; why couldn't they be thankful for what they get and move past it, everyone would get a turn and it's high school. And as Arden expected, Rachel stood up and stormed out of the Choir room, sparing a glare at Arden who returned it.

"The more times she storms out of rehearsal, the less impact it has," Artie commented, the others agreeing with him while Arden rolled her eyes at Rachel's starlight behaviour. "Congratulations Tina," Mr Schue told her, "This is going well." Arden chuckled before sliding off of the piano and rushing over to Tina and hugging her. "You deserve it. Ignore the drama queen and enjoy it!" Arden encouraged, Tina's beaming smile returned thanks to the blonde's encouragement. The students went off in different directions for the end of the Choir lesson, Arden walked out to be met by Matt.

"Hey Sunshine," Matt greeted making the blonde blush lightly, she slipped her journal into her bag and linked her arm with Matts upon him offering it. "Hey Matty, how are you?" Arden asked with a smile. "I'm doing pretty well. I got a B on my History test thanks to your help," Matt replied with a smile on his face, Arden stopped them and turned to him with a smile. "That's amazing!!!" Arden cheered and practically jumped into his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck as he held her around the waist. "And all I did was give you some pointers, you did it all yourself," Arden whispered to him, he squeezed her slightly before putting her down.

Arden ran up and hugged Kurt with a large smile on her face, "Congratulations on becoming the Kicker!!" Kurt smiled wide and hugged her back, "It's actually more fun than I thought it would be." Arden laughed at that before pulling out of the hug and leaning against the locker next to Kurt's, "Well, I will be attending every game to see you play." Kurt was thankful for Arden, the girl was always there to support him through anything and everything. He knew that she was theorising that he was doing this for some other reason as she was the only one other than Mercedes that knew about his sexuality; at least, words directly from himself rather than assuming.

Arden glanced over to see Quinn walking with Finn following her until they stopped and spoke, the blonde watched the two as Kurt grabbed his books. Her brows were furrowed when Quinn began crying, Finn pulling her into his arms to comfort her. Finn looked up and locked eyes with Arden who tilted her head in concern for both of them. "I'll be back," Arden told Kurt before walking towards the couple, she wanted to comfort her friend. "I don't mean to intrude but I hate seeing you cry," Arden told Quinn softly, the cheerleader moved from Finn's arms into Arden's.

Arden rubbed her back and held Quinn close to her, she wanted her friend to know that she was there. "I'm pregnant," Quinn told Arden, she trusted the younger blonde more than anyone in the school. Arden gasped before holding Quinn a little tighter in hopes to reassure her, "I'll be here for you no matter what, Q. I promise." Quinn sniffled at Arden's words, they were exactly what she needed to hear in that moment. "Both of you," Arden added as she looked up at Finn, he smiled gratefully at Arden.

Sandy Ryerson had returned to McKinley High to direct the school's musical and Arden felt incredibly uncomfortable about his presence in the school due to the reason he had been terminated; alleged accusations or not, Sandy was a creepy man. But what truly irritated Arden was the fact that Rachel had auditioned for the role without realising that it was Coach Sue's plan to tear down the Glee Club; Arden wasn't blind to the Cheerleading coach's actions like most of the others. But all that aside, Arden was currently in the auditorium at the piano pressing certain keys to put her song lyrics together; humming to match pitch without actually singing.

"You know, for someone who knows a lot about music, you never really sing," Artie spoke as he rolled onto the stage from the side, he smiled as Arden jumped slightly, she hadn't expected him. "I, uh, don't really sing much," Arden replied to him with a shrug, she pressed another key and nodded to herself before writing it down in her music journal. "You write music?" Artie asked as he looked towards the journal. "It's a hobby. A lot of them are mostly poems rather than songs but... I guess they could have potential," Arden answered him. She wouldn't downplay her writing but she wouldn't claim it to be amazing either.

"That's really cool," Artie complimented as he adjusted his glasses, "And it's good to hear that you don't just downplay it. Recognise the talent, yo." Arden giggled at his words and nodded, "Everyone has that one talent that's worth it. But... uh... if you can keep a secret, I'd love to sing... with you." Arden cleared her throat, she was hesitant but she found Artie's voice to be compatible with hers; And she loved his voice too, he had the talent. Artie was shocked but instantly nodded his head, "Uh, yeah! Let's sing together, what were you thinking?" Arden grinned as she got up letting Brad take over, she whispered the song to Brad and he nodded with a smile.

[ One Too Many ─ P!nk ft. Keith Urban (Duet by Artie and Arden)]

As the song finished, Arden was grinning while Artie was starstruck by the fact that her voice was incredible. "You should really sing more often," Artie told her. "I only sing in front of the people I trust and feel comfortable with," Arden replied to him as she thanked Brad and the band before grabbing her stuff. "You trust me?" Artie asked in slight shock. Arden turned to Artie and walked over to him, she leaned down and kissed his cheek, "Of course I do, Artie." Artie beamed happily up at her before the two left the auditorium talking about comics. Both unaware of the person who had witnessed the performance, complete awe in their eyes.

Rosemary Speaks

A new chapter cause I felt like it.
Arden's becoming more popular and confident, looks like she's living a better life.
Good timing cause Terri is pregnant.... yikes!

And yes, I know the song Artie and Arden sang only came out three years ago but as I said in my disclaimer, I will be using recent songs in this because I bloody well can.
Just get over it <3

How are we feeling about this?

Arden's new bonds? Any favourites so far?

Quinn told Arden, how do y'all feel about that?

Artie and Arden singing together?
Did you expect her to reveal her voice to him first? Bet you didn't, huh?

Thoughts, Suggestions or Questions?

See you in the next chapter!
