CHAPTER SIX : PART ONE
WHERE THE FAMILIAR ARE HATED
SILAS KEPT HIS FACE BLANK AS HE STOOD AMONGST THE WITNESS HIS FACE COVERED BY A FACE MASK AND HEAD HIDDEN BY A HOOD. The rest of the coven we're dressed the same, deciding to stay hidden until the right time.
Tiana's hands flexed as the metal of her arms bracelets moved ever so slightly while Peter grounded his teeth together, dark clouds forming overhead. Cecilia hard her arm wrapped around her mate, eyes set into a glare while Silas stood at the front arms crossed over his chest.
Carlisle and Esme stood beside him, and he and the blonde shared a nod before they turned to face the field. Silence overtook the witness as they waited.
Edward, if this does not go according to plan, I'm sending Tiana and Cecilia with Renesmee and Jake. Silas's cool voice echoed in the mind reader's head and he gave the slightest of nods.
"The red coats are coming, the red coats are coming." Garrett muttered, bouncing slightly in place and he was right.
They were coming indeed. Silas thought bitterly a snarl pulling on his lips when he saw the guard break the tree line.
They came in a synchronized formation - showing off their power and authority, and Cecilia barely contained the grow building in her throat. The hues of their cloaks were darker in the middle, compared to the ones outside. There were thirty-five on their side all guarded and ready for a battle. The line began to take a fan-like formation, the most important people.
His eyes stayed emotionless when the raven-haired king settled his eyes on his family, a growl rumbling deep within her chest, though it did not escape it. Peter straightened up and kept his hand on Tiana's arm, while Silas kept his on Cecilia's.
"Aro's looking for Alice." Edward muttered reading the older vampire's mind. Of course, the greedy bastard is. Silas grumbled within his mind.
Howls broke through the trees and soon the shifters emerged, weaving in between the witnesses as Jacob came to stand beside Bella and Renesmee. Silas gave him a nod, which he returned before both of their eyes settled on Carlisle.
"Aro," Carlisle said, making Aro focus his attention on his old friend. "Let us discuss things as we used to, in a civilized manner." He continued calmly.
"Fair words, Carlisle. But a little out of place, given the battalion you've assembled against us." Aro retaliated, his eyebrows furrowing as he gestured to the witnesses and Silas had to bite back a scoff.
"I can promise you, that was never my intent. No laws have been broken." The oldest Cullen reasoned.
"We see the child, " Caius hissed, a scowl on his face, and Cecilia let a growl leave her throat - though it silenced when Silas shot her a look. "Do not treat us as fools."
"She is not an immortal!" Carlisle spoke, louder. "These witnesses can attest to that. See the flush of human blood in her cheeks." He reasoned gesturing to his granddaughter.
"Artifice!" Caius roared.
"I will collect every action of the truth." Aro said before he looked to Edward who was standing in front of Bella and Renesmee.
"Edward, as the child clings to your newborn mate, I assume you are somehow involved." Aro spoke holding his hand out.
Edward looked back at Bella, then he looked down at Renesmee and rubbed her air before walking over to the Volturi's side, Silas moving ever so slightly.
He watched with narrowed eyes as the bronze haired vampire placed his pale hand into Aro's. But, his attention was quickly drawn away from them as a new smell entered his nostrils.
It was mouthwatering.
Pine mixed with the fresh smell of olive leaves, the fruity smell mixing with the calming earthy scent that sent his emotions into a frenzy. He closed his eyes and breathed in deeply before they snapped open - obsidian replacing crimson.
Obsidian locked with a bright ruby red as they stared into each other's eyes, different emotions filling them. She stood amongst the sea of black, ruby hues starting at him as they faded to charcoal - her lips pulling into a snarl. Her hair was pulled into a bun, blonde hair as bright as a marigold on a summer morning. She was short, maybe around 5'2 with defined features that made her all the more beautiful.
Silas held in his gasp. This was neither the time nor place for that. He would deal with it later.
"I want to meet her." Aro's voice brought him out of his thoughts and be watched as Aro's eyes settled on Renesmee. Edward looked back at Bella and she nodded, grabbing her daughter's small hand in her own and lead her towards the Volturi. Jacob joined, not before looking back at Emmett who also joined.
"Wait !" Renesmee called out and looked over to where Silas stood, the vampire watching with furrowed eyebrows until he saw Renesmee holding her hand out.
The male sighed and ran to stand beside her, his gloved head petting her head. Silas grabbed her hand, giving it a squeeze as they walked forward. His eyes were still blank and he could feel his sister trying to get inside his head, no doubt ready to scold him.
Finally, they stopped, Silas, looking back at his Coven for a split second before looking at his original coven members, a deep sadness forming in his chest when he caught Marcus's gaze.
"Ah, young Bella, immortality becomes you." Aro spoke looking at Bella before his gaze fell to Renesmee, who was still holding onto Silas's hand.
Silas felt a burning gaze on him and he met the eyes of the gorgeous girl. She seemed to be studying him and he tilted his head slightly, allowing his eyes to rake over her figure.
"Half mortal, half immortal! Conceived and carried by this newborn while she was still human." Aro spoke in awe, drawing Silas's attention away from his mate.
"Impossible!" Caius snarled as Silas picked Renesmee up from the ground to run her back to their side.
"Do you think they fooled me, brother ?" Asked Aro, a silent challenge in his voice. Caius merely scowled and looked back at Demetri and Felix.
"Bring the girl forward." He ordered watching as Felix gripped Irina's shoulders and pushed her forward.
"Is this the child you saw ?" Caius asked pointing to Renesmee, who cowered into Silas's leg after he had set her back onto the snow.
"I'm not sure." Irina spoke, her voice was shaky as she moved her gaze to the blonde-haired king.
"Jane." The blonde-haired girl stepped forward an evil look in her red eyes as she watched the Denali vampire.
Silas was intrigued at this. His curiosity bubbling in his stomach as he wondered what gift his little mate possibly held.
"Shes changed, this child is bigger." Irina exclaimed before the Volturi girl could use her power.
"So your applications were false." Caius concluded, a scowl on his face.
"The Cullen's are innocent, I take complete responsibility for my mistakes," She turned to her family a sad smile on her face. "I'm so sorry."
"Caius don't!!" Edward cried, but the blonde-haired king didn't listen, Felix and Demetri grabbed Irina's arms ripping them off before the tracker grabbed her head and pulled it from her shoulders. Caius grabbed a torch and set her body aflame.
"IRINA!!!" Kate and Tanya both ran forward, and Silas looked back at Tiana, the girl giving him a nod.
Her hands snapped out, a long metal wire leaving her cloak as it wrapped around Tanya's waist pulling her back into Eleazar and Emmett, while Garrett grabs Kate - only to be shocked by his fiery mate.
"Blind them." Cecilia growled as she wrapped her arm around Tiana once more and Zafrina compiled.
"We must attack." Tanya hissed and Edward and Silas stopped in front of her.
"Tanya this what they want." Edward muttered softly, his voice a soothing whisper while Silas looked at her with sympathetic eyes. He couldn't imagine losing his sister in such a way.
"If you attack now, we all die." Silas finished and the girl nodded, bottom lip wobbling ever so softly and the older vampire nodded to Zafrina.
While Silas helped Tanya, he stopped when he heard Edward's pain-filled groan. Whipping around he watched as his mate stared at his friend.
So that's her gift. He thought as he moved to Edward's side. Extraordinary.
He smirked when he felt a soft substance surround him and the mind reader. There you go, Bella. He cheered in his mind as he helped Edward up to his feet and over to his family while Silas moved to his.
"Aro, you see there’s no law broken here." Carlisle spoke up, his voice pleading and Silas's fingers flexed ever so slightly.
"Agreed. But does it then follow that there is no danger?" The Volturi leader turned to his army. "For the first time in our history, humans pose a threat to our kind. Their modern technology has given birth to weapons that could destroy us. Maintaining our secret has never been more imperative. In such perilous times, only the known is safe. Only the known is tolerable, and we know nothing of what this child will become. Can we live with such uncertainty? Spare ourselves a fight today, only to die... tomorrow."
Sila scoffed, and he finally had enough of Aro's bullshit so he stepped forward along with his coven.
"That's a load of bullshit Aro, and you know it." He growled and pulled the good down, watching as Aro's face paled even more than it was.
"Si-Silas?"
