CHAPTER FOUR : PART ONE
WHERE THE COMFORT CALMS
SILAS KNEW SHE WAS THERE, WATCHING HIM WITH CURIOUS EYES AS HE RAN HIS FINGERS OVER THE COVER OF THE OLD BOOK. He smiled slightly with a sense of nostalgia. Of course, Carlisle had kept the damn thing.
"I know you're there Renesmee." His voice was soft as he kept his eyes on the old object. "Come on out little one."
The child stepped out of the doorway and Silas looked up at her. His crimson eyes were soft as he met the young child's eyes.
"Sorry Uncle Si, I was just wondering what you were doing." The small hybrid confessed with a sheepish grin and the elder of the pair couldn't help the warm grin that overtook his lips.
Uncle Si. A name that Renesmee has begun to calm him whenever he was in the same vicinity as her. Though the immortal did not mind, because he had begun to form a soft spot for the hybrid, even though Cecilia wasn't too pleased, but when was she ever.
"It's alright, little dove." A mischievous grin crossed over his lips as he narrowed his eyes playfully. "Shouldn't you be asleep? I doubt your mother would be pleased if she knew you were up at such an hour."
Renesmee shrugged as he sat down in the chair across from him, arms crossed on the table. "I couldn't sleep, and I figured you would be the only one besides Uncle Emmett who wouldn't send me back to bed."
Silas chuckled as he placed the book aside. "I suppose you are right." Then he let a small worried frown cross over his face. "Is something troubling you?"
The hybrid bit her lip as she looked down and Silas narrowed his gaze at her. "Renesmee." He warned and she looked up.
"I'm just worried is all." She started off, playing with her fingers as she spoke. "It's just, all these vampires have come to protect me. I've heard the whispers, I shouldn't even exist but I do and I'm worried someone is going to get hurt because of me."
Silas kept his gaze on her, though he did not speak. Thoughts swarmed in his head before he sighed, hand flipping over on the table. With his palm facing up he conjured up black dust, it swirled around before a butterfly formed. Silas looked over at Renesmee before giving the small figure a slight blow and it twinkled as it flew towards the young hybrid, flying around her head.
"While my gift can be dark at times Renesmee, it can hold beauty." Silas muttered before waving his hand, allowing the butterfly to disappear and Renesmee turned to look at the male. "I'm going to tell you a story."
Renesmee perked up and bounded around the table holding her hands up and Silas chuckled, picking her up and placing her into his lap.
"When I first turned, I didn't know what I was supposed to do with my life, around this time people knew vampires existed - though I always felt like I didn't belong, that I was alone in the world." Then a small smile covered his face. "Then I realized I had Cecilia. I had a family." Silas looked down at the small child who was struggling to keep her eyes open as she rested her head on his shoulder. "What I'm trying to say is that no matter what you never alone, you have a family that will fight for you."
The hybrid snored softly as Silas rose from his seat and moved to the corner of the room, allowing the shadows to cover his body as he moved about the house - keeping out of sight.
When he arrived at Renesmee's room he was met with a worried Edward and Bella who relaxed when they saw their daughter sleeping softly in Silas's arms.
"Thank you, Silas." Bella nodded as she took Renesmee into her arms and the older vampire nodded with a smile.
"She is my niece." Silas uttered softly. "I will always make sure she is safe."

I know its short, but this is merely a fluffy filler chapter. The real juicy stuff will be soon I promise.
