━ Chapter Eight

CHAPTER EIGHT : PART ONE
WHERE THE SOUL TIES

SILENCE HAD ENVELOPED THE FIELD AS JANE AND SILAS STARED INTO EACH OTHER'S EYES. The blonde looked flabbergasted as she took in the older vampire's words as her brother kept his hand on her shoulder, eyes glaring at her mate.

"Silas, what are you doing?" It was Carlisle who spoke and Silas merely held up a hand.

"Can you order her to come forward since she seems to listen to you, Aro?" His eyes didn't move away from the blonde as he spoke, and Aro let out a sigh as he motioned the blonde forward - ignoring her betrayed look.

Though she didn't make it far when Caius held his arm out, glaring down Silas while the latter raised an unimpressed eyebrow.

"You can't just demand such things, you disrespectful scoundrel." The blonde king hissed. Cecilia raised her arm, ice beginning to form at the base of her feet but Silas sent her a look, telling her it was okay and she reluctantly placed her hand down.

"Oh, my dear Caius, you don't scare me." The older of the two let out a cruel chuckle as he took a step forward. "You are merely a child throwing a tantrum, while I myself are as old as the temples in Rome. People fear me for a reason, just a whisper of my name has the mightiest warriors quaking with fear." His face turned into a glare, eyes fading into obsidian. "Now, I will not repeat myself - give me Jane and I'll let you all go home with your limbs intact."

This time Alec snarled and held his palms out. Silas watched as the black smoke crept closer to him, eyes turning obsidian though he did not move. Everyone watched with fearful eyes while Bella moved to use her shield, but Edward placed a hand on her shoulder stopping her.

When it reached within five feet of him his hand shot out, a cloud of black dust-like mist slicing through Alec's paralyzing fog. It curled around like a snake before it moved toward Alec, and Silas paused when he saw the look of Panic of Jane's face.

"Because you're my mate's brother, you won't have to suffer my gift." He spoke and waved his hand allowing the mist to dissolve into nothing. "Now I will make good on my threat if you don't let her come forward now."

Carlisle prayed they listened. While he did not like the Volturi, he did not want to see anyone get killed because they made Silas's temper rise. Jane looked back at her brother before sighing and moving forward. As she drew closer he could see how vulnerable she must have been. She was going into the enemy's territory, alone.

When she finally reached him, Silas hummed and looked back at the witnesses and wolves. "Go home, this is my concern now."

Carlisle gave him a nod and ushered everyone to follow, knowing it would be easiest to listen to Silas than disobey him. He then looked over to Aro. "Everyone other than you three, and the elite guard may go."

And when they were only one's out on the field, Jane finally did something, her hand met Silas's cheek with a sharp crack. Tiana made an ouch face while Peter ran and hand down his face. Cecilia was openly chuckling at her brother's misfortune.

Silas licked his lips, feeling the crack in his skin begin to heal. "You're quite the little tigress aren't you?" He asked, letting his crimson eyes meet hers that was glaring at him.

She raised her hand again, but Silas caught the swing, his hand erupting with sparks as he looked down at her.

He knew she would never willingly go with him, she was far too loyal to the Volturi to do such a thing. His eyebrow furrowed in thought as he let his eyes fall to her necklace and he clicked his tongue.

"A weapon." He murmured under his breath. "He uses you as nothing more than a weapon."

"I." She hissed, wrenching her arm from his hand. "Am. Not. A. Weapon."

"I know." Silas muttered, waving a hand in front of her face and for the first time in over 1,000 years, Jane felt tired. Black dots swirled around her vision until finally there was nothing.

Absolutely nothing.

━━━

Boom Baby!

Anyway, I bet a few of you are thinking - 'how did Silas knock her out?'

So Silas's gift is kinda complicated. He's basically the boogyman. He can make people see their darkest fear, get into their heads, and play with their thoughts. His gift evolved over time and actually started to get to the point that if need be he could make someone sleep.

So yeah Silas is basically a very darker version of Pitch Black from rising Of The Guardians.

And the next chapter is the last one in part one!

Until next time.
