โ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ asleep in the dingy hotel room, soft snores falling from her lips. Natasha looked her with a soft smile on her lips, gently brushing away a hair that had fallen in her fiancรฉ's face. Her smile seemed to widen. Fiancรฉ. Natasha never saw herself having a family, she never saw herself falling in love and getting engaged. All of this had never been in the cards for her, something she'd come to terms with at a young age. And then she met Olivia Jade and her entire world changed. They'd butted heads for a little bit, and then they became friends, and now they were going to get married.
Natasha had never thought about her dream wedding, she'd been forced into a life of killing far too young so she hadn't had the same dreams as other kids. She knew Olivia was in the same boat. If Natasha was being honest, she'd never truly believed in it. Love, that was. But then Olivia forced her way into Natasha's life, awakening all those emotions that she'd been taught to turn off, and now here they were. She's was laying next to the woman she would spend the rest of her life with, and if she were to die right now, she would be content knowing she'd had the chance to experience such a beautiful thing.
A soft knock came to the door and Natasha was pulled from her thoughts, carefully sitting up as to not wake Olivia and making her way to the door. She looked through the peephole in the door, hand hovering over her gun only to let it fall to her side when she saw it was only Steve. She pulled the door open, furrowing her brows. "What's wrong?"
"We gotta go." Steve answered. He nodded towards Olivia's sleeping figure. "Wake her up."
"Where are we going?"
"Something's happening," Steve said. His voice made Olivia stir, her eyes slowly opening as she sat up. "Something big. We need to get to Scotland. We leave in five." Natasha nodded and closed the door.
Olivia rubbed the sleep from her eyes as Natasha quickly tossed her some clothes. "What's going on?"
"Not sure, but we gotta go."
Olivia didn't hesitate to get up and get dressed, grabbing their things before they made it to the quinjet. The four of them quickly went to Scotland, landing the jet and Olivia walked out first, closing her eyes and listening. It was late, the streets were silent, but there was something that sparked her attention. Her eyes snapped open, glowing blue. "The train station."
They went running, Steve going in a different way while Sam, Olivia, and Natasha went another way. Olivia shifted into her wolf form, making a run for it. Steve stood on the other side of the train station platform as the train went by, momentarily distracting Proxima from killing Wanda who was standing in front of an injured Vision. As soon as the train passed, Proxima threw her weapon at Steve who was quick to catch it, stepping out of the shadows. That's when the other three stepped in.
Sam flew in, kicking Proxima away as Olivia pounced on top of Corvus, her jaws clamping around his arm as she tossed him to the side like a rag doll. She quickly shifted back as Steve tossed Natasha Proxima's weapon, using it to fight Corvus, quickly using it to stab him in the gut. The weapon was ripped from Natasha's hand, flying into Proxima's own as she jumped to attack her. Olivia quickly intervened, jumping up and tackling Proxima from the air, sending both of them flying to the ground. She scrambled up, quickly dodging the alien's hits. Steve and Natasha jumped in, the three exchanging blows with the woman until Sam flew in and knocked her away and over to Corvus.
Sam pointed his guns at her and Proxmia snarled before turning to Corvus. "Get up."
Corvus' face scrunched in pain. "I can't."
"We don't wanna kill you," Natasha said, "but we will."
Proxima's eyes narrowed into a glare. "You'll never get the chance again." She hit a button on her wrist before the two were beamed up, the weapon Steve had taken from Corvus going up as well. The blue light faded and the four turned, immediately making their way over to Wanda and Vision.
"Can you stand?" Sam asked, holding out a hand for Vision. Vision grasped it, allowing Sam to pull him up.
Vision uses Wanda and Sam to keep him steady, looking at Steve and nodding his head. "Thank you, Captain."
Steve gave a slight nod in return. "Let's get you on the jet."
The jet door had just closed when Natasha started fussing at Wanda. "Now, I thought we had a deal. Stay close, check in, don't take any chances."
Wanda looked at her, keeping close to Vision's side. "I'm sorry. We just wanted time."
Natasha said nothing else as she made it to the co-pilots seat with Sam in the pilot's. Olivia walked up to Steve, crossing her arms over her chest and meeting his eyes. "What the hell is this?"
Steve shook his head. "I don't know, but I'm gonna find out."
Sam looked at Steve over his shoulder. "Where to, Cap?"
Steve's answer was simple, "Home."
Olivia softly sighed. "This should go over well." She looked at Natasha. "I'm gonna call Clint. Check in on the girls." Natasha gave a nod as Olivia walked away, pulling out her phone and dialing Clint's number. Their conversation was short, Olivia refusing to concern Clint about what was going on and instead insinuating that there was something going on and that she needed him to keep the twins safe. Clint gave her his assurance before they hung up.
She missed her daughter's desperately. It had been far too long since she'd seen them, calling as often as she could to make sure they knew she nor Natasha had forgotten about them and that they would see them soon. Now, Olivia wasn't so sure how true that was. If there was another threat coming, who knew when she would see them again.
Day had risen when the Avenger's facility had appeared. They landed and Olivia took a deep breath before walking inside with Steve and Natasha on either side of her, Wanda and Sam helping Vision walk behind them. It wasn't long before they found Rhodey, and when they had found him he was mid-conversation with Secretary Ross through a hologram. The two turned upon their arrival.
"Mr. Secretary," Steve greeted.
Ross looked at him in disbelief. "You got some nerve. I'll give you that."
Natasha's lip twitched slightly. "You could use some of that right now."
Ross spared her a glance. "The world's on fire. And you think all is forgiven?"
"I'm not looking for forgiveness." Steve answered. "And I'm way past asking for permission. Earth just lost her best defender. So we're here to fight. And if you wanna stand in our way. . . we'll fight you too."
Ross stared at Steve for a long moment before turning to Rhodey. "Arrest them."
Rhodey nodded. "All over it." He swiped his hand and Ross and the hologram disappeared. Rhodey looked at all of them. "That's a court-martial. It's great to see you, Cap." He held out a hand.
Steve approached him, shaking it. "You too, Rhodey."
Natasha and Olivia approached him next, the two women giving him a hug. Rhodey sighed, nodding. "Wow. You guys. . . really look like crap. Must've been a rough couple years."
Olivia cracked a smile. "You could say that."
"Yeah, well, the hotels weren't exactly five star," Sam added.
"Uh, I think you look great." A voice grabbed their attention and the group turned their heads to see Bruce Banner standing there, wringing his hands nervously. He chuckled. "Uh, yeah, I'm back."
"Hi, Bruce." Natasha mumbled.
Bruce nodded his head. "Nat."
Olivia gave him a soft smile. "Good to have you back Banner." She then clapped her hands. "So, let's talk business, shall we? Who were those people and why are they attacking us?"
